Sadly Lloyd is no longer a manager at the store. He was a great manager that knew everything there was to know about mowers, edgers, etc. Not a pushy salesman, but rather very informative and helpful, personable and pleasant. I learned this location is a corporate Ace, not a local neighborhood one, which explains the inattentive sales staff (smug older white haired woman in the paint section in particular) & grumpy assistant manager. Asked to have a key cut and the clerk and manager in charge said that since it wasn't purchased there they couldn't do it ? Then they said it could damage their machine ? Also said that it was store policy to not cut a key that was brought in ? It's a key with a chip in it that is a basic car key ? Back to Home Depot read more

Ordered a grilled and paid for it on 7-3 after numerous calls to the store It was finally delivered on 7-29 3 prior dates promised and never delivered and no phone calls until I called. ACE Corp not much better. Terrible customer service and not even an offer to throw in anything for the loss of 1 month of grilling and no customer service. I feel story for the staff at the lake forest park ace. It is such a crappy customer experience except for the people like Tracy who humanize it. There are no disabled parking spots and shopping there is sad and cold. We had the best ace hardware store in Mountlake terrace but the rent was raised so high they could not afford it They were the best and our community is grieving the loss of our ace hardware there. I won't be going back to the lake forest park ace store ever again. They did not know what potting soil was, the guy in the parking lot struggled with which one to put in my car. In the end it was not potting soil which they seem to not have any. No stars. And I never give bad reviews It was not the staff but the owners who should feel ashamed of themselves. read more

I usually leave positive reviews on Yelp. My RV's water filter housing burst over the cold stretch during New Years. I had a question regarding the pressure holding capabilities of a PVC cement. I has the cashier ask for someone and plumbing. I asked "would this particular cement be good for my application, the housing is 10 inches long", all while pointing out that the advertizing on the label said the glue/cement would be good for minor repairs on up to a 10 inch pipe. The plumbing associate (let's call him Rey Mysterio for anonymity) snidely remarked, "Yeah, if you want a pressure seal for that 10 inch water filter housing (in your hand)". Whilst I liked the selection of the store, the customer service leaves much to be desired. read more

I'm a contractor and live nearby and I have been frequenting this hardware store for the last few years. Some weeks I stop in almost every day lol. Overall I've been very happy with this little hardware store. They have a really extensive collection and I especially appreciate the hardware selection. The staff are friendly and pretty knowledgeable overall and pretty impressive in a time where it is extremely difficult to find employees at all. Right before their remodel, they had a massive 75% off sale and I bought well over $2000 worth of tools and other fun stuff at great prices! Gotta love those green tags haha read more

I really appreciate the folks at Town Center Hardware. I've gotten tired of only going to the large home improvement super stores. It's nice to just zip down the street for that paint brush or washer. I don't shop here all the time and their prices are a teeny bit little higher than the competition, but I'm glad Town Center is around. read more

Michael and Roger in the Lake Forest Park store, were spectacular. I had 3 issues when I came in and, after outstanding customer service including Michael allowing me to video him assembling the pieces I was buying so I could replicate it at home, I left with no issues. This place has pretty much everything you need - except lots of building materials. Great selection, knowledgeable staff and reasonable prices. It's clean, well lit and you won't be run down by a forklift. My 1st job ever was in a hardware store, so I'm a tough critic. This place is great and convenient. Lake Forest Park is fortunate to have this business. The rest of us have to go to Home Despot which, on a weekend, is close to the 8th level in Dante's Inferno. I know lots of people are intimidated by hardware stores -- it's true! It's a real thing! No one wants to look like they're ignorant about anything. Home repairs are no different. This is why you should go here and not one of the big hardware stores. I'm looking at all these low reviews and shaking my head. People are COMPLAINING because it has a liquor section?? I really wanted to like this place. It is close, I assume locally owned, and is clean and well organized. That said I am really disappointed in their customer service and selection. If you aren't being helped by a kid out of high school (who knows little to nothing), then its some older guy making assertions about you before you've even opened your mouth. Let me explain. I went here a lot before I tried to return a shop vac attachment I bought less than a week ago. It wasn't the right size for my shop vac and I couldnt use it, so I set it aside for my next hardware store trip. Most of what I'm buying is for my small business, and my shop isn't the cleanest of places (saw dust), so needless to say I brought it back a bit dusty. As I waited for the paint counter clerk I went to pick up something else I needed, when I came back the first thing said to me was "Sir, I can't take this." I could see it wasn't spotless, but I was still stunned when he accused me of having used it. I explained my situation, but he wasn't having it and was very short and somewhat rude during the exchange. He made me feel as if I was trying to pull one over on him. I left without saying anything I was so angry. There have been several times they didn't have what I needed. It seems like they are confused whether to be a hardware store or a garden/home decor center. If you take yourself at all seriously in what you're doing go to Cedar Plaza Ace. read more

Long story short: If you enjoy only paying for your purchases only one time, and/or being treated decently by the businesses you patronize, I recommend shopping elsewhere. Due to a malfunctioning POS system, I attempted to pay twice for some purchases with my credit card but the transaction would not complete and print a receipt. The manager and clerk were unable to confirm whether the payment had gone through, but didn't think it did. I was moved to another register and I paid cash instead. As I left, the manager assured me that I should just come back if the charges showed up on my card and they'd make it right. The charges did show up on my card, so I went back as soon as possible with the receipt for the cash purchase and a screenshot of the additional charges from my online statement. They would not believe that the charges were really on my card and not just sitting in pending transactions until I logged into my account on my phone (Uncomfortable. Here, random hardware store guy, have a good look at all my spending habits!), and tried to tell me I would need to bring in a paper statement (who gets paper credit card statements anymore?). They also seemed to be somewhat suspicious that I was trying to pull a fast one, even though the clerk (who was not at fault in any way) seemed to remember me from the initial incident. Yeah, sure, I spend all of my free time mocking up elaborate digital credit card statements in order to scam local businesses $64 at a time. The charges were eventually reversed, but I felt the burden for correcting the store's mistake was placed unduly on my shoulders. If you do shop here, I recommend you pay cash, hang on to your receipts, and don't accept their word for anything without some sort of documentation. read more

I'm a homeowner with frequent smaller purchase needs. This store is incredibly convenient and friendly and stocks 90% of what you might need at home depot excluding large lumber. The slightly higher prices are more than worth it to avoid the horrible service and customer experience at the small number of home depots in the Seattle metro area (bothell I mean you) and hassle experience to go there. Huge fan of this store which has many clever things beyond just core hardware like Husky gear, BBQ items, garden items and is just in general a fantastic part of the NorthShore community. I purchased a can of spray paint during a recent sale. The next day I realized I had grabbed the color white instead of antique white. I went back to exchange it for the exact item but the different color. The clerk would not let me swap it out. The clerk wanted to charge me the full non sale price since the sale had ended the day before. Most every retailer in the land would have just done a swap. They wanted me to pay the non sale price. I didn't think that was fair. I spend a lot of money at ACE at Lake Forest Park and didn't appreciate this treatment. Will be going back to Home Depot after shopping at ACE for years since they moved to the LFP Mall. read more

I came in to buy some red wigglers(earthworm) yesterday for decomposition and had paid $25 for two pints of worms but as they was not at stock I had to come in today to pick them up alive. However, the lady just noticed me that they forgot to bring them in. She thought that I was NOT serious wanting it. I PAID FOR IT YESTERDAY! I asked if it was possible for me to wait in the store while they were picking them up. I was told it was impossible and I would have to come back tomorrow again. Wasting my time, gas and plan for tomorrow. Will update once I got the worm. I have a feeling that I would never come back again and do not recommend this place to anyone. One star for their nice attitude, once star for the fact they sell red wigglers. Three stars off for their unprofessional customer service and lack of communication between the staff. read more

Great little hardware store...have found what I needed and then some, almost every single time. Great service and knowledgeable staff...very friendly as well. Clean and well-lit. Also very well-organized. They now carry the premium dog food I feed by guys and it is more inexpensive than anywhere online. Appreciate that so much. I have purchased house paint, garden materials, hardware, bathroom stuff, kitchen stuff, and other miscellaneous items. So glad to have them in our community! read more

Why has it taken me so long to write this review for my favorite hardware store? I guess the staff just makes things so easy for their customers that we take them for granted. Well, no more... Every time, and I mean every time, I come into this store for some sort of geegaw, widget, or thingamajig, they have it! The knob on my favorite pepper mill went kaplooey and I looked for several weeks at all the "big box" stores, to no avail. Strolled into Town Center, showed them the old one, and without hesitation they said, "we've got that." In fact that is their mantra. Another time I needed to replace a weird door handle on my fold out door, but the screw was not a standard size. Off to Town Center went I and the guys said, "you can just mix and match handles and stems" as if it were a matter of fact. Do they know that service like this just does not exist at other stores?! Town Center Hardware has a casual, old-timey, small-town feeling to it that I personally enjoy. You don't have to walk for miles to try and find someone to help you, and quite literally, they have everything I need. They are my DIY pals! read more

I like the personalized service---soooooo much better than the soulless big box hardware stores! Don't laugh, but when I bought my house I was worried about having to call my dad all he time to do maintenance, because I knew nothing about it. I'm so thankful to have this hardware store so close by. There have been numerous times that I've starting working on some sort of home improvement project, only to realize I am missing some special screws/nuts/putty/tape/tool/gasket/etc. It costs more than Home Depot, but I'm happy to pay a bit more to A) not have to drive 20 minutes one way, B) not have to wait in some obnoxiously long line at Home Depot, C) have a friendly associate approach me as I enter and ask if they can help me find what I need, and D) have a way to easily return an item if it turns out to be the wrong thing. They have an eclectic mix of items, so I like going in there occasionally just to see what's new - during my last visit, they had unique greeting cards, soft knitted scarves and beanies, organic chocolate bars, and galoshes. I like the selection of plants and gardening supplies. They even have a section with liquor, with some high quality brands to boot. The staff is always friendly, and there are several that I see there regularly, so I'm guessing the employees enjoy working there, too, Clean and well-organized. Highly recommend! read more

While the store is small, it is locally owned (a franchisee of Ace Hardware) and staffed by friendly, helpful people. I have yet to meet a staffer who can't answer my basic home maintenance and repair question, or walk me to the person who can. Prices are reasonable, but nothing special. However, when compared to the gas I would use to get to a huge box store with impersonal or clueless service, I think it's a win. I would love to see this store find a thriving home here in Lake Forest Park. read more

I found Kirk who was super helpful. He validated my confusion at not finding what I was looking for (it wasn't there!) and pointed me in the direction of the next best / even better option. I really like Ace hardware but not this one in the town center. it is pathetic. I need a local hardware store - not a gift shop and of all things a liquor store? Really ACE? what are you thinking? since when did hardware stores start selling liquor? it's great if you just want to get keys made or buy a nice gift item. I've given up even checking to see if they have the hardware I need because the selection is so limited or nonexistent. the last time I went in I asked the young clerk for help and he pointed me in the direction and quickly went to chat with his friends who stopped by. this store is totally lame. don't call it a hardware store. call it a liquor store and gift shop. rite aid has as much hardware as this store. shame on ace for letting this happen. Town Center Hardware may look small from the outside, but inside it is CAVERNOUS. The selection was far and above what we expected - in one trip we ended up crossing more items off our shopping list than we expected. The entire staff was super friendly and take great pride in what they do -- they seemed to know their store like the back of their hand. It feels like a true mom-and-pop hardware store, the kind we like to support. This hardware store is closer than many others around us, and I'm surprised we didn't discover this gem sooner. Extraordinarily incompetent customer service. The cashiers literally do not know how to properly ring up a transaction and then act like it is an imposition to fix their mistakes. This is a great hardware store, and a small local business that's worthwhile to support as well. I'm blown away by the diversity of stuff contained in this small hardware store. Everything you could need from nails, screws, paints, fertilizer and birdseed.... and as a bonus you can pick up canning supplies, a new laundry hamper, restored (pricey) vintage furntiure and an adorable hot pink watering can for your flowers. I also pick up my Tiny's CSA here every week. Everyone is always really nice and the prices are reasonable. The first time you come make sure you have some spare time to just wander the aisles. read more

This is the worst hardware store I have ever been to. There are no adults here and every kid that I talked to has no idea what they are talking about and then walks off in the middle of me asking for help leaving me to wonder around until I find what I'm looking for. Not to mention it is a very dirty store the floor itself is black mixed with what used to be white. I was going in for something that should have been simple and this Indian kid "helped" me by not acknowledging me and laughing and flirting with a girl. I can't remember either if their names but here's started with an M. They were cussing, he was saying racist stuff like "there's too many white people here" and "I wanna f-ing kill myself with a bomb like the islamics" shocking words should never EVER be uttered. But then when I went up to him and asked for help he said "I don't know I think it's that way" then walked off not even pointing anything out. When I talked to the assistant manager or someone who said he was he said "yeah that happens" laughed and shrugged it off. I didn't know such terrible nonsense went on in my little town and I'll never ever come back here after this. read more
