The best subs. I've lived in many places and always searching out the best ham and cheese. Oswego happens to be my hometown and college town so I had my share of ham and cheese subs dripping with ingredients from this sub shop. Very good food. However, if you want the food I would suggest ordering and eating there. DO NOT get food ordered out. Each time I order from this place it takes 2 hours to get food. It does not take 2 hours to make a whole white sub with turkey and Italian dressing and fries. I only live a mile from there and its now going on 2 hours. Great food, crappy delivery service. UPDATE: They bring my food and it is entirely not my order.. This was the most frustrating part of it all. Waited for over 2 hours for my food and then I get the wrong order. The poor driver had to come to Cayuga multiple times because the crew back the shop couldn't get the order right. I have to say flavor & price wise....by far the worst meat ball sub ( never seen flat meatballs ) I have ever had anywhere !!!!!! Lacking big time in meat not alot of cheese and soggy bread! Shameful what I was served! NEVER again! read more

You're disappointing your loyal fans of 40+ years. Why mess with perfection? This place was great from 1969 - 2010 but it has changed.....for the worse. The once wide soft sub roll has been replaced with a hotdog wide size roll. The tuna sub that I would drive 100 miles for was now so loaded with mayonnaise that it was sickening. read more

Not the worst place I've ever eaten, but overpriced and not brag worthy. This was my second shot. First time here was for the scrawny cheeseburger sub everyone raves about, but $9 for a skimpy sub? Fortunately, I was able to sample the chili which was the only reason I came back several months later. This time I brought two kids in and we all ordered chili- one barely touched hers, another wouldn't finish it and I was disappointed that someone really sweetened the chili (something I despise). For almost $15 bucks before tip- a decent sized bowl with silverware, sour cream and cheddar might make this worthwhile. I'd have been better off eating at a finer sit down establishment for that price. read more

Best cheeseburger sub ever. Not just a cheeseburger cut in half and thrown on a sub roll. It is ground beef with the cheese melted into it. Super fresh rolls make the sandwich. Went out of my way by two hours last weekend just to get one. read more

Ten years ago, this was a great restaurant. Now, the portions have been greatly reduced and the price has been drastically increased. The quality if the food is nowhere near where it used to be and the wait for your food is often very long. I would not recommend eating here. read more

I'll never eat a pretzel rod without thinking of the times when my dad would bring us there and the ladies would insist on giving us one for free. I have been in school for 4 long years and the Oswego Sub Shop has always been part of the curriculum...GREAT SUBS, pricey but good..tonite I ordered a sub and the turkey soup...The subs are the best, the soup lacked real flavor, but was OK, until I got a large piece of paper! I tried to call, was disconnected, hmmm! Guess the last few months will be without the Sub Shop...shit does happen as I own a bar/restaurant, but to avoid a simple problem is unacceptable, maybe better employees are needed... read more

These subs are very expensive and leave a lot to be desired. The Philly cheese steak sub I got had very little amount of beef and even less cheese. Additionally, there was almost no peppers or onions on the sub. Maybe it's just this one sub, but the bread they put it on would leave me to believe all their subs are small and don't have much sustenance. I was thoroughly disappointed with the meal, the only thing I can comment positively on was the quickness of service. read more

Somehow I managed to overlook the Sub Shop for all of the 4 years I've lived in Oswego, and now I finally see what a mistake that was! Wanting something simple, I ordered a Grilled Italian Chicken sub with the works. The roll was incredibly soft and had a great delicate flavor. The chicken was lean, tender, and (to my surprise) served warm. The ratio of veggies to mayo to condiments was perfect and I enjoyed every bite of my sub. I did deduct a star for two reasons. The first being atmosphere. The shop is small, and fluorescent-lit with dingy floors and a few rickety bench tables. A little bit of paint and some elbow grease would go a long way toward making it more approachable. Service was nonchalant. Not discourteous or rude, just a little "bored". Also the prices are a bit high (my 6" was $5). However, I don't mind paying a bit more when the product is good and the business is independent and local. I'll definitely go back to The Sub Shop in the future. read more

While the food is delicious, the service is plenty of a reason for me to never go back to sub shop and make it my life goal to warn people about this place. I've ordered many a time and would say i've only had one delivered in under an hour. More than a couple times, it just didn't even come at all. So you wait untill close, call two minutes after three and they won't even pick it up. So you call the next day and what happens? You get laughed at because they "obviously make thousands of subs a day" and you as an individual are worthless to them, and they let me know that. They also made it apparent that because i did not get charged for the sub, there was really no foul. The fact i waited for two or three hours does not matter to them, they are above that because they are the all mighty Oswego Sub Shop, All i wanted/expected was an apology, they can't even give you that. It's sad that a business with such good food settles for a bunch of pompous employees (also owners) and TERRIBLE service. Never been treated like this ANYWHERE. read more

Hands down, most overrated resturant in Oswego. My first meal there will most certainly be my last. The customer service was awful and you could feel the tension and nervousness of the employees, as the owner strutted around behind the counter. He spoke to them in a rude and disrespectful manner which made not only me, but other guests as well visibly uncomfortable. After an unnecessary wait in line, I ordered a simple Italian sub. After what seemed like an eternity, I was handed my pathetic looking sub. The roll looked as though it had been run over by a truck and tasted like straight yeast. The overuse of dressing made it soggy. The meat was slimy, and the veggies were hardly contained within the roll, making it nearly impossible to eat. The overpriced fountain drink was watered down to the point where it wasn't even recognizable as soda. Half way through my meal the owner ran out the front door, screaming at the top of his lungs at someone parked across the street. (Apparently the subshop princess owns all of oswego). The combination of garbage served, and the rudeness of the owner compelled me to never come back. I highly recommend never visiting this horrible, overrated establishment. In closing, Al Roker must have been smoking some pretty good weed back in the day to even remotely enjoy the crap served here. Save yourself the headache and money, and go to subway. read more
