Other Half is one of my favorite breweries and we usually stop in when we're in NYC so we definitely had to visit here when we were in town for a conference. This location is a bit out of the way and not near downtown, but we were able to Uber there without any issue. It's very spacious and has a ton of seating both inside and outside. The beer selection is fantastic and we had a few delicious flights. To-go options are plentiful and we made sure to buy a bunch to bring home. It's a great brewery and I definitely recommend coming here!

A good experience at Other Half Brewing in Ivy City. Ivy City has evolved over the years and it seems Other Half Brewing has contributed to the positive commercial and community development in this neighborhood. I had not ventured this far into Okie St. since the old LOVE nightclub of the early 2000s, so it's nice to see how this and other restaurants have increased the community value. Other Half Brewing has space indoors, under a large covered patio, and rooftop. The covered patio is equipped with multiple televisions. The outdoor patio has ample space to gather with friends. The venue has a rustic feel, highlighted by large wooden picnic tables and metal stools (both low and high tables and stools available). I visited on a day when the patio was reserved for a private gathering later in the afternoon, so I was able to take advantage of the patio for a couple hours prior. The venue is kid and dog friendly, however, both must be well-behaved; and dogs must be leashed. The customer service was very friendly. There are plenty of IPAs to choose from and sample prior to purchase. They also offer cocktails. There is snack food available for purchase. You can bring your own food, however, no outside alcoholic beverages are allowed on the premises. They have menus available to order from Ivy City Smokehouse which is on the same block as Other Half Brewing. To order food, you scan the QR code on the menu, order, and the food will be delivered to you for a $3 fee. Garage and street parking is available. Overall, a good experience and I will visit again.

While their location in new York is one of my favorite breweries in the world, this one is also getting up there. Hazy ipas (especially jucy ones) are our favorites and that is exactly what they specialize in. They have about 30 beers and most of them are ipas and hazys. While the space has a decent amount of indoor seating, it is absolutely made for outdoor seating. The open air area was perfect in the nice weather (but also looked like it had heaters for bad weather too). The staff was super friendly and gave us plenty of tasters with their great recommendations. We ended up getting a flight because of the array of good options too. Overall a great spot!

If you love beer, go to Other Half. Set back in Ivy City, it's a great space for groups with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Their beer menu is excellent. As a cider and sour ale lover, they had both and were very tasty. I highly recommend Other Half! They usually have food trucks out front for food options.

Had to check out an Other Half Brewing when being on the east coast. The brewery has a large open space outside, with an outdoor deck and a lot of space inside. They don't serve food here, but you're able to order food and bring it in. They had a lot of great beer choices to choose from. The brewery also has some arcade type games and allows dogs.

This brewery in Washington, DC, has a lot of options on draft, with many IPA versions. As a dark beer lover the choices have been slimmer but the ones that I've tried have been quite tasty on the two times I've visited. I appreciated the friendly bartenders who definitely made us feel welcome. I did chuckle when he warned me about the 13.5% ABV on the Logical Progression Imperial Stout. Please note that they offer bottles to stay for those who do enjoy dark ales and stouts. The outside seating is wonderful and created a very comfortable place to sit and talk over beers. We also liked seeing the green living roofs on two of the buildings.

Other Half Brewing Company is a craft brewery that opened in Brooklyn, New York in 2014. It was founded by business partners Matt Monahan, Andrew Burman and head brewer Sam Richardson. Richardson grew up in Portland, Oregon and got his start brewing through Oregon State University's Fermentation Science Program. After finishing school, he moved to Brooklyn and began working at Greenpoint Beer & Ale Company. Here he met Monahan and Burman who were both originally from the Washington D.C. area. They had a dream to open their own brewery with a simple mission: to create beers that they wanted to drink from a company that they wanted to be a part of. The brewery's name is a reference to the fact that they wanted to represent the "Other Half" of the beer industry. Through a Craigslist ad, the partners found an industrial garage located under the Gowanus Expressway in Brooklyn's Carroll Gardens neighborhood. At the time, that area wasn't so desirable. The land sits next to the Gowanus Canal which is NYC's most polluted body of water. In spite of the odds against them, Other Half's reputation and popularity grew at a very fast rate. In addition to their original location in Carroll Gardens, Other Half now has locations in Brooklyn's Domino Park, Manhattan's Rockefeller Center, Finger Lakes (Bloomfield, New York), Buffalo, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. Several new breweries have also popped up in Brooklyn since Other Half opened; the borough has turned into a brewer's paradise. Prior to Other Half opening, Brooklyn only had three breweries. My family and I visited Other Half's Washington, D.C. location (which opened in October 2020) recently while we were staying in the area for a short vacation. I've visited Other Half's three NYC taprooms, but was especially excited to visit the DC facility because it is their largest production facility and taproom. Located in DC's Ivy City neighborhood, the facility is housed inside the old Pappas Tomato Factory. There's still an old railroad boxcar on display in the courtyard. There's plenty of seating and even a small arcade area (which my older son enjoyed exploring). After looking over the draught menu, I ordered a flight which included "Out For Trout" (Double IPA), "Vapor Rings" (Double New England IPA), "Tomato Factory" (DNEIPA), "All Motueka Everything" (DNEIPA), "Plates On Plates" (Triple New England IPA), and "Limited Time Offer" (TNEIPA). Everything was fantastic! My family and I brought in some take-out food to eat while I enjoyed my flight. I purchased a four-pack of "Knuckle And Claw" (DNEIPA; collaboration with Bissell Brothers Brewing) and a bottle of "Barrel-Aged Birthday Kooks" (Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout; collaboration with Omnipollo) before leaving. If there's only one brewery that you visit in DC, make sure it's Other Half!

As a beer fan, personal top breweries come and go. But for me Other Half as been one of the absolute best for the last few years. It's always special when we get their cans and kegs in Honolulu, but the shipping time and conditions, even when ideal, still don't allow for an accurate picture of their sometimes delicate creations. Last year I got to visit the Rockefeller Center location a few times on a trip to New York and someday I want to visit the original in Brooklyn. Thankfully a recent class reunion trip to Washington, DC gave the opportunity to visit one of their ever-expanding taprooms and breweries. Of course, it ended up being my favorite beer spot of the trip, further cemented by how much my friends who had never been loved it as well. Other Half is a super inclusive brewery by business practice and mantra. It's easy for all to feel welcome here, from the signs to the restrooms for anyone. It's also extremely dog friendly, which was noticeable as soon as we got there on our first visit; my friends even asked to come back a few days later and brought their excited pup along who also loved being there. They also have pinball and arcade machines. This location is in a complex of other similarly modern businesses near Union Market in NE DC. There's an axe throwing place, a famous local coffee chain, and other businesses nearby so you can have a complete day out all from one spot. In warmer months, it looks like they have a ton of amazing outdoor seating on the roof, ground level outside the bar, and around their decorated real box car. They have a brewery system here, which makes its own unique selections; this facility is across the walkway out the main door. Inside they have refrigerators with a ton of canned 4-packs and bottled beer selections to take home. I chose one special bottle to share at home, an imperial stout with freeze dried space ice cream as a nod to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum nearby. They have a ton of fun merch too: shirts, hats, dog items, etc. The staff was amazing on every visit: bartenders were friendly and happy to talk about beer and explain about their other locations. Even workers leaving the brewery for their shift beers were happy to hear what we thought. The bar is divided into two, which would be helpful on busy nights, which I imagine this place gets. They focus on hazy IPAs, IPAs, pilsners, stouts, sours, etc.; it's always fun to visit a taproom as they put things on draft that will never be canned. I was also lucky enough to visit around their 10th Anniversary celebration so there were a ton of collaboration beers to try. I mostly stick to flight sizes, but after trying everything over our few visits, I went into the on-premises can list, which was a hit with my friends as well. They have a few selections of sodas and canned seltzers, plus usually one cider and one NA beer on tap for those who don't want to imbibe. They have special events as well, we say a raw oyster bar pop up one day that seemed super popular. Prices were reasonable, maybe higher than other places but on par with the quality of the beers. If you're a beer fan, this is a place you need to visit. Bring your friends, bring your pups, and enjoy some of the best beer being made in the USA.

Beer was good, different and just all around an experience. We truly enjoyed some the coffee, the rocky road one but we didn't think the mango milkshake was as good as expected. It was strange it was more like a milkshake not what we expected. Staff was great and friendly. Place was loud but also large so it all worked out.

What an incredible spot! I came here during a cold day and originally planned on sitting inside but then went outside and found the beautiful, large patio with some empty tables. There are heat lamps a plenty so regardless of how cold it is, you will be comfortable there. You can order either 4 oz or 12 oz pours. I really liked that all of their beers are unique but they're really good. I did 5 4oz pours total and really enjoyed all of them. I highly recommend the mmmm berry (sour), cannibaltown (smoothie sour that basically tastes like an alcoholic smoothie, trust me, it's really good!), and the brkfst (Hefeweizen). They also had frozen beer cocktail of the cannibaltown flavor. The service was excellent and efficient; they also came out to the patio to take drink glasses away. It's also dog friendly throughout the brewery, both inside and outside. They also have food trucks and update them on their website. I can't wait to try their new seasonal flavors and come during warmer weather.

Must go spot if you're visiting DC. Outdoor space galore. Indoor space is still roomy, but so much outdoor seating. The seating ranges to the front, side, back, and rooftop. Dog, baby, kids, big group friendly. If you like sports, there's plenty of tvs in the back. If you don't like sports, you can literally sit in the million other places available. Dogs aren't allowed on the rooftop though. Tap list is grand. You can choose 4oz or 12oz pours. The 12oz pours is the better deal. It's 3x the beer for only double the cost of a 4oz pour. However, if you're like me and don't want to commit, they'll pour you a tiny taster or you can make your own flight with the 4oz pours. There was a food truck that started serving at 1pm on Saturday, however, you can bring your own food. They also serve snacks at the bar too. The front bar has a large of their to-go cans/bottles and merch. Service was friendly. They're quick to acknowledge you. If you're anxious like me, you don't have to overthink if they saw you or if you need to make aggressive eye contact to make sure they saw you. Bike parking right in front. Can't bring your bikes inside. Plenty of scooter parking out front as well. Didn't notice if there were any limitations with street parking though. Hoping to be back in DC so I can make another trip and pack some cans to bring back home. If you haven't been here, you're missing out on good beer and better vibes.
