Gemstone dice. Stunning in the light!
    Grace V.

Amazing DnD selection! I got DnD tarot cards and a beautiful set of gemstone dice. While there, I had a delightful conversation with two personable staff members. I could have stayed there all day just joking around and browsing their dice collections and DnD books. Cannot recommend enough for my fellow DnD players. They'll make you feel right at home, especially anyone new to the game!

A comics, board games, and collectibles specialty store, Other Realms ( excellent name ) is situated in the Nimitz Business Center, Building C. If you park in the structure - the first two hours are free - you can access it via a door on the far right, which takes you outside and if you go around the structure you will find their entrance...there is a side road which can access these and other businesses in a separate building that is still part of Nimitz Business Center. Customer service is good...I was just browsing as my days as a collector is past. Open daily 1000a till 600p on Mondays and Sundays; Tuesdays thru Saturdays are 1000a till 800p Maps of the layout of establishments are situated throughout the center.

Huge comic book shop with other hobby stuff as well such as Warhammer and collectible memorabilia. Easy location to get to with a ton of parking in the structure or on the street. Staff is nice and there's a loyalty card program for discounted prices. You're going to be able to find pretty much whatever you want here. On their website they also let you know what popular comics are coming out and going to be in store each week. Overall, fun place if you're into comics or Warhammer and want to be able to buy locally.

The staff were amazing and easy to talk too. Fair prices. We pulled both chasers from the unstable zombie unicorn figures and got a lot of cat stickers. They also had a lot of different hobby products. We are from the Big Island and hope to visit this store again soon

This comic store is pretty noticeable on a side street behind a strip mall (Eagles Cafe) on opposite end. It's a good size store large area of games...like half the store. They have figurines of whatever certain popular games you can paint with section if supplies. You can buy some figurine such as a Star Wars section by itself. However, I had purchased a Thor/Sif combo pack for $50...hard to get on the island, but tried looking in the past and couldn't find Thor with his hammer. I went online $20-$99 online now? Jeez, you can include some postage...around $30? However, I purchased for convenience wise. Their overhead must be a lot...somewhat pricey. Comic prices are about same price at all three stores. The other half of store is loaded. They do practice masks wearing for all and provide hand sanitizers before touching anything. Also, they have a membership which you can use points towards your purchases. So, check this place out!

LoL since when did Kevin Smith have an anime statue?

When Jamie W and I heard that Josh Spencer, the owner of LA's legendary Last Bookstore (review:…read morehttps://yelp.to/PBt2J99ygG) had opened a bookstore in Honolulu, we decided to look for it on our recent Oahu adventure. It turned out to be in Downtown close to Chinatown. While it doesn't have the scale of the Last Bookstore, this store shares some of the unique design elements of its SoCal progenitor like curving shelves and large vinyl collection. A broad scan of the books on display reflects titles that seem more avant garde than more commercial curations with sections devoted to science fiction, horror, true crime, and rock music. Jamie found an existential book about his favorite band called "Queen and Philosophy" (Photo 9), while I bought an intriguing manga cosplay history book called "Otaku Japan" (Photo 5). We probably could've spent another hour in here, but we had manapua on our minds. RELATED - Exploring Hawaii? Here's a collection of places I've visited and reviewed: https://yelp.to/n9JWu5nlzl

I stopped by Skull-Face Books & Vinyl while walking through Chinatown and it quickly stood out as…read moreone of the more unique independent shops in the area. The store blends two cultures that often go hand in hand: underground literature and vinyl records. The space itself feels very curated. Instead of a large commercial bookstore layout, the shop has a smaller, more intentional selection of titles and records that reflect niche interests, counterculture themes, and independent publishing. It feels like a place built for people who enjoy digging through shelves to discover something unexpected. One of the highlights is the mix of books and vinyl. The store carries everything from rare or independent books to records that span multiple genres, which creates an environment where music and literature intersect. Browsing through the collection feels more like exploring a curated archive than a traditional retail store. The atmosphere fits well with the Chinatown neighborhood. Bethel Street has a strong creative and artistic identity, and Skull-Face Books & Vinyl contributes to that scene with its alternative aesthetic and independent spirit. What stood out most to me was how personal the shop feels. Independent stores like this often reflect the personality of the people behind them, and that character comes through clearly in the selection and layout. Overall, Skull-Face Books & Vinyl is a great place to explore if you are in Chinatown and enjoy independent bookstores, vinyl records, and creative spaces that feel a little different from mainstream retail shops.

Small comic/collectible shop in Mililani…read more Came here when they were hosting a Dungeon's and Dragon's event our kids were attending. Love that they partner/support community events like this. The place is small but packed with lots of interesting merch. I have zero knowledge about comics, games, anime, toys, cards, etc. but my kids' eyes lit up when they entered and my youngest couldn't leave without buying an anime plush. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Located in the Mililani Shopping Center. LOTS of parking. Support local businesses.

NOT SAFE FOR CHILDREN!!!…read more I rarely leave negative reviews, but this needs to be documented. At Dragon's Lair in Mililani, my daughter purchased a $15 pin with her own pocket money. It broke after only three or four days due to poor assembly. When she politely returned to ask about a replacement, the owner, Lucas, spoke to her with extreme verbal abuse, profanity, and personal insults until she left in tears. When I addressed the situation calmly, he stated that he did not care that he had made a child cry and continued speaking aggressively. This is not about a refund policy. A business can choose its policy. This is about basic conduct toward a minor and a customer. We have supported this store many times, but after this experience, we will not return. Families in Mililani should know how customers, including little children, may be treated here. Based on this experience, I would not feel comfortable bringing my child back into this store.

Profits support the State of Hawai'i's 51 Public Libraries. In more recent years, FLH opened a year-round used bookstore: Village Books and Music, first at the old Pier One, then a terrific space in Ward Centre next to Sedona. Due to the imminent demolition of Ward Center, the establishment shuttered the Ward location on 5/31/26, and will be reopening in mid-July at 610 Ward Ave., a.k.a. "Obama Building." While not as extensive as more famous used bookstores, e.g. NYC's "The Strand" and Portland's "Powell's Books," I thought there was a lot to love about Village Books and Music, where you could find books, but also CDs, vinyl records, games, puzzles, nostalgic Hawai`i memorabilia, and even art. While admittedly not all genres are well-stocked, when I've visited, I was impressed with the poetry section, which is small, but nicely curated, featuring a number of renowned BIPOC poets and local poets: look carefully, and you can find some signed editions in great shape. If you're looking for local Hawai`i writers or Hawaiian/Pacific materials, this store is worth browsing. And what a win-win: you get literary goods on the cheap AND you support the amazing Hawai`i State Library System: a worthy community hub committed to egalitarian public education!

Thankfully 808 Collectibles had just what I needed, so I made it into a Sunday afternoon adventure to come in. This is a small shop located in a mall building along Kamehameha in Pearl City. It's across from Pearl Highlands Center, but it's easy to get to from either side of the road. They have limited parking in front shared with a small shop, bar, and a few other businesses. This shop is on the second floor, toward the left. The owner Art (Arthur) was super friendly on the phone and got back to me quickly about what I needed. On arrival he was recommending different comic stories to a customer. There was a steady stream of people coming in, so I assume he has some regular customers. Every inch is filled with comics (new and older ones), Funko Pops!, and various collectibles and statues. Prices are clearly marked; he takes cash, Venmo, and credit. If you're a fan of pop culture and other fun things, this is a worthwhile place to stop. I hope to come in again soon.
