The beach itself was nice enough: decent sand, not rocky, not an over abundance of seaweed. That's where the enjoyment ended. That beach had a constant barrage of biting flies that annoy the crap out of you. They are small, relentless,painfully bite, and leave itchy marks where they bite. We stayed for 3 hours to try to get our $14 (parking fee) worth but after that, we left. I'll never go back since I now know those biting flies are an issue there and have been for years. Two thumbs down and I cannot recommend Scusset Beach to any beach goer who wishes to have a lovely day at the beach. Side note : the water was so cold also, with zero waves and contained floating seaweed. Terrible.

It is always clean and offers a lot. They have 3 good size pools, tennis and basketball courts, a laundry area, a jewelry store, an arcade, and ice cream shop and a bathroom with quarter showers. The bathroom/shower area is always impeccably clean!! They also allow pets and have designated areas to walk them. On the weekends they do fun events like a DJ in the pavilion or lobster bakes. They do offer sewerage, water and electricity hookups. They have sites where you can either tent or bring a camper/RV. They are open from May - October. The rates to visit someone in the site during off season is $8 per person and $10 per person during peak season. If you leave before 9PM you get 1/2 of your $ back. Some of the sites you can see the ocean in the distance.

The bathroom/wash sink were mostly clean but could have used more cleaning in a day. A beautiful playground further down the street for kids to have fun too. We had a family of turkey visit us in the morning and a skunk searching for any leftover food at night. Had no - very minimal seeing others which was a major plus during these COVID Times.

The ride was laid back, customized to our needs / timelines, included a lot of Barbie talk, we caught 10 fish in 10 min. He made it easy and fun and I would do it again in a second. We headed out to the canal which was calm and cruised up to Sandwich. The ride took about an hour and was enjoyable. We were able to relax on the deck and talk. In Sandwich we had a very nice lunch at the Pilot House. After lunch we walked out past the Coast Guard station to stop at the visitors center. The visitors center had an interesting movie on the making of the canal. After the short film we walked out to view the ocean. We then strolled back to the dock where Captain Trent and his mate Corey were waiting to take us back. The return trip was just as pleasant. We were able to watch all of the people fishing on the shore and biking in the trail. A great day was had by all.

The water was beautiful and clean, and very scenic navagating the canals between thehigh grass. We really enjoyed ourselves. Justin was also great in that he honored a truilia. I did check w/ him to make sure that he/his business was compensated b/c trulia took client money and then literally closed up shop and ran. To be honest, if he told me trulia had not compensated him, i would have happily paid twice. It was a really great way to spend the day at the cape. Two disclaimers. The kayak tour is not at the Jarves address. That is just where a sign w/ directions to the beach/parking ($5 or $10) is available. Also none of the businesses near the sign at Jarves St have any public restrooms, so that could be an issue. I nicked a star b/c I had difficulty getting in touch w/ Justin to arrange the tour closer to the date. So we just took a Thursday off and winged it. We were lucky there were two slots open. Other people on the tour did say he called them back promptly and this wasn't an issue. He does spend a good portion of the day outside working, so its possible he just missed my messages. Anycase, still worth it. We had a wonderful time.

The tour itself was neat, never kayaked through an estuary before... it seems like it'd be a good way to introduce someone who's never been kayaking before, to start here, before doing anything more open water. The tour itself was decent, however, because we were in a group of 8, it was hard to hear majority of what the tourguide was saying, unless you happened to be the kayak that was right next to him. Another downside of kayaking an estuary vs something more open water is that several times, it begins to be more like bumper boats in some parts! Overall, a nice experience and a neat alternative for something to do on the Cape. However, communication could have been better. The tourguide told my friend organizing, that he'd call her the day before with more details, but never did. Also, the address that is given, actually leads you to the front of an art gallery and only a placard out front advertising "ecotourz" without an address telling you how to get to the actual meeting area (which is ~1 mile away).
