I've never eaten anything that I didn't like. My faves are: milhojas, breakfast croissant sandwich, and any and every cake with dulce de leche filling. I only tiny, minuscule complaint I have about this place is the lack of signage for the pastries and cakes. It would be nice to know what I'm looking at without having the ask. The cake here is very good! Super moist, and the frosting is light and fluffy when ordered fresh. Unfortunately the 2 cupcakes I got, both alfajores and the chocolate covered one too were stale, like super hard and dry. So get anything fresh, like made to order cakes or things you see come out right when you're there. Otherwise you run the risk of getting old stuff, which sucks that they don't manage that at all. On a Sunday afternoon lines moved quickly and we were able to find seats. This is a cute cafe that offers plenty of savory items and lunches, plus drinks like matcha, cakes, pastries and cookies. There is also a bathroom! The women behind the counter were all nice and patient with my questions, they also kept the line moving and were quick. I had high hopes for the Alfajores as this is an Argentinian bakery but unfortunately the ones given to me were stale. The cookie was very hard. Also the Dulce de leche was too sweet and burnt tasting to me. I also got a chocolate covered one and the cookie in that was also hard and dry. The strawberry croissant was amazing. Never had anything like that before. Not too sweet and very flaky. It has a ribbon of red on the outside which gives it a unique look. I would love to come back and try savory items. It's easy to see why this bakery is a local favorite - everything I tried was absolutely amazing. I had the House Cake with Dulce de Leche filling, and it was incredible. It was rich, sweet, and perfectly decadent. I also grabbed an empanada, which was savory and delicious. My friend moved into the Heights neighborhood and suggested Dulce de Leche Bakery for breakfast. This cute spot did not disappoint! The staff is helpful and kindly answered my questions about sauce ingredients. Opted to try the guava and cheese pastry, strawberry matcha and sausage sandwich with fries. Everything was delicious. The fries were perfectly fried and served still warm. We picked up a slice of dulce de leche cake, chocolate cake (reminded us of Boston cream pie, tres leches and a few dulce de leche cookies and swirl pastry) to go. All of the baked goods are amazing, nice and light! I definitely will make this a must stop by the next time I am in the area. read more

If you know, you know Dulce de Leche is a gem known for their delicious pastries and cakes. I'm in love with their breakfast sandwiches but this visit was for cake slices since my boyfriend and I are obsessed with their DDL Chantilly cake. It's chocolate cake with layers of dulce de leche and whipped cream, it's so light and fluffy. I always order online for pickup in which I walk straight to the cash registers, a staff member grabs my order, and I then I head out. The slices of cake are pretty hefty too. They also have other sandwiches, smoothies, juices, coffee, and more. There's tables and chairs to sit with a laptop and I believe they have free Wi-Fi. Since I visited during the weekday around the afternoon, there weren't many people here but there were times I did have to wait on line for a while especially on the weekends. I had been hearing outstanding things about the Dulce de Leche Bakery for years, but had never made it to one of their locations. Luckily for me, my friend had a birthday cake from their Jersey City Heights outpost that I was able to try without having to create my own adventure in order to do so. She had selected the DDL Chantilly variety, which included chocolate cake with layers of dulce de leche and whipped cream. It was then also covered with a whipped cream frosting that had a gooey dark chocolate poured over it. While it sounded decadent, and it certainly was indulgent, the cake was light and moist, while the generous whipped cream balanced the sweetness of the thin layer of dulce. Each bite offered loads of flavor without feeling like you were consuming a zillion calories. It was by all measures a delicious cake that left me wanting to try more of their pastries and even sample their savory cafe items. read more

Was charged $2 for the ginger which they did not put in. When I send it back, the server gave attitude. I then asked for ice, and was charged .$50. And not that it matters but my total bill was over $70. The place has no AC and it was pretty warm. So the food I had was good. The service - terrible. The environment was uncomfortable to sit in. Love this bakery! I went on a Tuesday in the early afternoon and it was not busy which was nice. They had a nice selection of items. The counter lady was not very patient, but she was very fast. I mentioned that I wanted a full cake and she kept calling me over to the end but I hadn't decided if I wanted any individual items and she seemed a little annoyed. I could understand if there was a line, but there was no one behind me. Once I shuffled over to the cakes, she was really friendly. She grabbed the cake I requested and boxed it up and asked if I wanted a birthday sign and showed me the color options which was really nice. We also got the mini alfajores and the heart shaped dulce de leche brownies. When we had them back home, everything was excellent! The mini alfajores were small, soft, and not overly sweet. The dulce de leche brownies hearts were a little more sweet but not by much. And the passion fruit cheesecake was a hit for my grandma's birthday. My mom, that is not a fan of cheesecake, absolutely loved it! It was soft with the delicious flavor of passion fruit and didn't have an overly sweet frosting which made it really nice! I ended up getting a smoothie and juice, breakfast sandwich, a tart, and two additional pastries for about $30, which is pretty damn good to me compared to other bakeries in JC, especially downtown. I love that the smoothie was non dairy (OJ base) and the sandwich had a chicken sausage option (I got it on the brioche roll). When I went home I was so surprised how good it was. The sandwich wasn't greasy and didn't feel like a guilty pleasure. A lot of the baked goods are tooooo delicious and affordable -- omg cheap!! Seriously they are done so well. I'm also addicted to the croissants with a hint of sugar, the tall flaky biscuit, the dulce churros, the soups, fruit tarts, and cakes, etc. The employees are friendly and so eager to answer questions, even when they are getting slammed. I was impressed with their humanity and respect, bringing a homeless man a meal a customer had bought him. There are a lot of hidden gems in the heights and this is one of my favorites! When tasked with bringing dessert to our Thanksgiving celebration, I struggled finding a place in Hoboken to order from. I decided to look for bakeries in the heights and landed on Dulce de Leche. I had heard good things about this spot from friends who live nearby. We ordered our desserts a couple weeks in advance for pick-up Thanksgiving morning at 11:30 am. When I walked into the bakery, the place was insane! A long line of people waiting to order at the counter nearly to the front door and another small group of people waiting for the pick-up order table. I waited a few minutes to give them my name/order and then another 5-10 minutes for the worker to bring out the goods. Everything was organized and packaged neatly. Even though it was packed in there, they had a good order of operations. There's also a good amount of tables & seating inside if you wanted to enjoy your coffee or desserts in house. We ordered a pumpkin cheesecake (since they didn't have traditional pumpkin pie on the holiday menu) and an apple crumble pie. Both cakes were delicious and generous portions! I really loved the pumpkin cheesecake. We also ordered some of the turkey cupcakes for the kids which were really cute. I would order desserts for a party from here again. The pricing was reasonable & everything was tasty. The only drawback is trying to find parking on Central Ave! read more

About $30 for 2 people that includes breakfast, pastries and fresh juices and about $45 for the same for 3 people. Such a steal when everything is fresh! The juices are squeeze to order and are $5 for a 16oz and $6 for 20oz. Totally would rather get that than a coffee with less nutritional value. Amazing bakery on a main street Central Ave in the heights section of Jersey City. You'll find a lot of Latino eateries in this section of JC but this is one my favorites in the area. I ordered a Cortado for coffee this particular time and a small guava pastry, made in house. Cortado was made perfectly, and the girls at the counter always ask you if you want sugar which I did. You could also tell that the pastry was made that day, and you could see the bakers coming in and out replacing fresh pastries every couple of minutes because they are busy! This is our favorite go to spot for cakes. One thing we want in cake is that if I'm paying the price I would like it fresh. This time we went and got a small house vanilla cake. We were really craving for it so when we came home and cut slice to eat. The cake was dry and stale. We called the bakery right away. The woman took lots of details maybe for over 15 minutes. Then she told us to bring the cake next morning for them to see if it's really stale and dry. I was very disappointed by the response. When you price your items on high end. You need to be able to stand by your product. I wasn't able to go back next morning like most people I work. I have the cake sitting in my fridge still, ready to go in trash. I don't recommend this bakery. Stale food and bad customer service. Also I could smell eggs ugh... in the cake. They lost us as a customer. read more

My new favorite place. I'm in the process of trying all the empanada flavors. So far I like the chicken and four cheese the best. The chicken flavor has great flavor. And the four cheese literally melts out of the empanada. But they're all good! Coffee is excellent. It's also a great place to sit and eat as well. Good vibes all around. A really good selection! We made an impromptu beach plan since the weather was in the 60's and decided to pick up some goodies from here to try. I was lucky to get in and while there was a line inside, it moved along fairly quickly and the second I was out there was a line outside. Super quick service and everything looked so fresh! We picked up their ham, cheese, and roasted red pepper sandwiches (a good deal - since there were 6-8 sandwiches in one box), yogurt parfait, beef empanada, 2 slices of broccoli & cheddar quiche, 2 mini chocolate mousse cups and a bag of mini merengues.
