Wonderful food, and wonderful service. Absolutely love the sushi, it is fresh and the chef, Kenyon is very helpful.

So this is my first time visiting this establishment and I wasn't disappointed. So we ordered several different rolls. First we had the University roll which was deep fried and perfectly cooked. It had spicy crawfish, crab mix and cream cheese delicious! The next one was Spicy Tuna roll then we had "super crunch" which had fried shrimp, crab, cucumber, tuna, white fish, salmon. Then we got the "Volcano". Every item was great and the service was excellent. I look forward to our next visit also this location is in the mall food court.

Welp, we're at it again--back to see if Biscuit Bot Betty can deliver another happy meal like last…read moretime. I mean, it's Lovey... but we are in the South, so the name sticks. We got there just before the rush (and trust me, half of Tuscaloosa showed up right after) and put our order in just in time. I went all in on sushi--the Tuscaloosa Roll and Rock N Roll--and yes, I'll share... even though, as an only child, that doesn't come easy. The better half went with the teriyaki shrimp, and let me tell you--everything was top level. Iron Chef Bubba must be running the kitchen, because they're not missing. They must be hanging meat in the corners--it's nice and chilly inside, even for this warm-blooded physique of mine. Biscuit Bot Betty must be tired too--she's passed by a dozen times, making her on-time deliveries. Hey UPS, come kidnap this chick--have her delivering! All in for under $50, even with a $20 tip--ha, take that, Tuscaloosa! Not many places downtown are going to treat you that well--good eats and cheap for a party of two.

Sushi is great and so reasonably priced, Lucky adds just the right ambiance, the poke bowls are like enough for two people and if you like boba tea I've been told it's good (just not my thing).

The service, once again, was outstanding! The ambiance is always super welcoming, and the…read morerestaurant is consistently very clean. We started with the jalapeño calamari, which is always so delicious. We also ordered the spicy tuna tartare, and it was incredibly fresh and packed with flavor. I got the hibachi salmon, and it was honestly some of the best salmon I've ever had. My boyfriend ordered the hibachi shrimp, which was also delicious. The rice and noodles were so flavorful--I could honestly just eat those and be completely happy. We also tried the vegetarian lovers sushi combo, which came with a tofu roll, an avocado roll, and a cucumber roll. Everything was very fresh and super tasty. Another great experience, and it's no surprise that we'll definitely be going back!

Let me tell you about our first rodeo at Shiki…read more We pulled up excited, walked in... and I ain't gonna lie -- the place looked a little drab. Not "health department issue" drab, just "could use a fresh coat of paint and a pep talk" drab. I started second-guessing all those glowing reviews like, "Did these folks eat at the same place?" Then came the entrance situation. The host stand was vacant. No "please wait to be seated" sign. Just us standing there like we were about to audition for a sushi commercial. So we start to seat ourselves when the lone waiter -- and I mean lone ranger -- glances over and says, "Just a minute." Oh. Copy that. We did the walk of shame right back to the door and waited properly this time. After sitting a spell, he got to us and took our order. Now bless his heart -- that man was running ragged. Every table was full and he appeared to be handling the whole dining room solo. Plates, drinks, orders, probably washing dishes in the back too. We waited... and waited... and waited. It was pushing 30 minutes before the food finally touched down. Now let's talk about the decor. The inside could use some TLC. Maybe a little facelift. Maybe some brighter lighting. Maybe a plant that's alive. But hear me clearly: What the front of house is missing, the chef in the back is absolutely making up for. From the first bite of that ginger salad to the last grain of rice, I started wondering if I'd accidentally walked into an episode of Iron Chef. That salad was crisp and fresh, the soup was on point, and then my salmon hibachi showed up like it had something to prove. And let me tell you -- that salmon was spectacular. Cooked just right. Flavorful. Tender. Seasoned like somebody back there cares deeply about their craft. That chef can flat-out throw down on the grill. Great food. Great flavor. Zero complaints about what hit the plate. Price? Outstanding. Party of two ate for under $50 at a sit-down restaurant -- and that's including a 30% tip. In this economy? That's practically a public service. So here's where I land: (4 out of 5 stars) If service had been quicker, we'd be talking five stars without hesitation. But I'm giving grace here because that waiter looked like he was one espresso away from levitating, and the place was packed -- which, by the way, is usually the surest sign the food's top-notch. We'll be back. And next time, we'll walk in with patience... and maybe a snack in our pocket just in case. Bottom line: Don't judge this book by its cover. The outside may whisper "meh," but the kitchen is singing hallelujah.

Both nights we had the same waiter Ethan, and he was hands down one of the best we've ever had. Extremely professional, attentive without hovering, and he made everything feel effortless. Service like that elevates the entire experience. On our last night, we each ordered a steak, and it was honestly one of the best meals we've had in weeks. Perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and exactly what you hope for when you order a great steak. Everything about this place works -- the décor, the crowd, the energy in the room. The lighting was perfectly dimmed, creating that ideal balance of lively but intimate. It's easily one of the best places we've eaten since being in Tuscaloosa, and clearly good enough that we had to go back twice. Highly recommend.

Filled with what I'd describe as a trendy crowd; casual but on the high end. The service was good; our waitress was charming and attentive but for whatever strange reason, they kept taking our utensils and when a different staffer would bring the next course, they'd neglect to bring utensils... this happened twice! Pure torture looking at bread pudding without the means to eat it! Which brings me to the food... it was just decent for the price, I would have expected more. I had the ribeye which was perfectly cooked but still just meh; kinda thin and not very flavorful. The wife had the sushi and it was good, but again, for the prices in this place, I would have expected a little better food. Definitely recommend the bread pudding though... bring your own spoons if you're the impatient type!
