Okay so I just got back from Japan where I did multiple omakases and then Miami hits me with an ITALIAN omakase. Otto & Pepe, what are you doing to me? I genuinely did not know this was a thing and now I can't imagine a world without it. I'll be honest, my first thought walking in was "okay cute but these portions are going to be tiny." Wrong. So wrong. Every course was generous, beautiful and absolutely delicious. And every single pasta that came out? Cleaned the plate. Every time. No exceptions. We had zero shame about it. Also, want to mention Ramiro, who was wonderful from the start, super warm and welcoming, walked us through the their menu & how things are done at the restaurant, really made the whole experience feel really intimate and special. You also get to watch them cook right in front of you, and the smell alone is worth the price of admission. Like, I almost forgot I was in Miami for a second. Now. The fried mozzarella. A cute dinner spot in Wynwood with indoor and outdoor seating. The mushroom pasta was amazing, and I'm still thinking about it today. It tasted like there was beef, but it was a fully vegan dish. The pistachio salad was very nutty and savory. The avocado helped keep the flavor light while the dressing was rich and creamy. Dessert did not disappoint either. The pistachio gelato was amazing, so so creamy and full of pistachio. The tiramisu was also delicious. The lady fingers were perfectly soaked with coffee and the cream was just right. We were looking for a place near the Spectrum art fair and stumbled across Otto & Pepe, which I had heard of but never been to. So glad I did! We were able to walk over earlier than our reservation and they graciously sat us right away. I had their version of a mule which was glittery and perfectly balanced. Our server Oscar was great and quickly took care of us. We had the meatballs to start SO GOOD! And then I had the cacio y Pepe which was fantastic and my friend had the lasagna which was a very generous portion. The place looks nice but the food and service were not good at all. We arrived and we were sent to our table not walked over. The server looked like she had a rough day already. It was only 6:45pm. The appetizer of the meatballs were cold. Not lukewarm warm they were cold. She took them back and brought me back other ones and again cold. I just didn't bother telling her, she wasn't interested anyways. The food was fine after that, we ordered the fried pizza, the melanzane al forno as appetizers. For entrees the branzino al limone, chicken parmigiana, spaghetto alla nerano. Everyone looked rather stressed out in this restaurant and just not a happy ambiance at all. My gentleman and I were attending an event in the Wynwood area & needed to eat before our event. After debate back and forth we found on this restaurant on Resy reservations that would allow up to eat and head out on time for our reservation. The restaurant is nicely dimmed, cozy with sitting tables and a sitting at the pasta bar watching the chefs cook up. They were accommodating a bigger party with about 10 people and the service and attention was still amazing. I would have preferred a table since I was worried that we would smell like food. Unfortunately the waiter said all seats were reserved. I wish we would have known that we were sitting at time of booking reservation. Especially since their was a cancellation fee for this reservation. So keep that in mind. at time of reservation that we were I was really hungry and asked if any complimentary breads available and we were told no. After the waiter saw the look of disappointment and provided us with complimentary bread. The bread was perfectly crispy. We were in between dishes but the waiter suggested the Lasagne. He said it was a good shareable size. ( we didn't want to get too full... so opted to share). The lasagna was a hit for both of us. The tomato sauce was tasty and sweet. The meat was perfect. Each bite you tasted all the flavors of the pasta, meet and sauce. Of course we both enjoyed a glass of wine or two with our dish. My gentleman friend ordered Tiramisu to get a sweet bite. He said it was excellent and another perfect bite to end the meal. Walking out we looked over the wine bottles selection that they had displayed for purchase A great selection! We found a reservation thru Resy with plenty of time before our show and got a spot as the pasta bar, watching the creativity at work. On our waiter's confirmation, we shared their meat lasagna and loved it! The noodles were a little past aldente and well loaded with meat, cheese and a yummy sauce. The sauce was a little on the sweet, reminiscent of younger years favorite Steve's Pizza. Their tiramisu, sprinkled with cinnamon, was a great closing act. Full disclosure, there was a little oopsie on the beginning since we didn't automatically get bread. However, our server made it right! The cracked bread was perfection in carbohydrate form. We had a great lunch at Otto! The space is small but beautiful. We came on a Sunday afternoon and it was empty, which made me nervous, but it was great. After a little bit, more people came in. We sat at the pasta bar which was beautiful, and we watched them prepare the meals in front of us. Our waiter was prompt, and helped us decide what to order. We started with the PARMIGIANA DI MELANZAN, which was fried eggplant, sauce, and a bunch of cheese. It was delicious. The fresh basil really made it. It was a nice start with some red wine. We then ordered two of their fresh pastas to split. We tried the PACCHERI CON RAGU DI SALSICCIA PICCANTE. The pasta was cooked perfect. The sauce was great. And the spicy sausage was grounded into the sauce, which i wasn't expecting, but it was nice. We paid extra to add stracciatella on top and it was so worth it to have the soft cold cheese to pair with the warm pasta. The second pasta we had was CALAMARATA CON RAGÙ DI FUNGHI SPUGNOLE E TARTUFO. If you like mushrooms, YOU MUST GET THIS. It was delicious. We splurged and added fresh shaved black truffles on top. Though it was a little salty for our taste, its crunchy crust and the soft eggplant gave it a contrasting texture with the tomato and cheeses. The outdoor dining area is just as beautiful, with both traditional dining tables and comfy lounge-style seating, perfect for a relaxed evening out. We arrived for our reservation but requested to sit outside instead. The staff was super accommodating and let us enjoy the outdoor lounge area while we waited for a table to open up. We ordered a bottle of wine while we waited, and it was yummy--definitely a great start to the evening. Once our table was ready, we were moved to our table where we had a lovely dinner. Every member of the staff was friendly and welcoming, from the hostess to our server. We had Mackenzie (hope I spelled that correctly) who was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He gave fantastic recommendations and was attentive throughout. From start to finish, we enjoyed every moment of our dinner. The only reason this meal got two stars is because the food was good. Unfortunately this was overshadowed by horrible service. We were a large group (13 people), I understand this can be overwhelming but I feel there an no excuses since we were the only ones in the restaurant aside from another 2 top. When our waitress was bringing our drinks she spilled two martinis down my back. Towels were promptly brought over and it was no big deal, things happen and I know she did not mean to spill the drinks. The check came and there was no adjustment for the major hiccup, in fact we were charged for those drinks. As I walked to the bathroom the waitress said "are you dry yet?" And I decided to ask her if we could at least have the two spilled drinks taken off of our tab. There was some resistance but she eventually got her manager and told me that there would be $50 refunded to my card for the inconvenience. That $50 never came. Again, mistakes happen but at a nice restaurant with a $1,200 tab I would have hoped for better service. read more

The pomodoro pasta is absolutely out of this world, and the moment you walk in, you genuinely feel like you've been transported to Italy. The pistachio ice cream is indescribably good. I had a great dinner here on a Saturday at the counter where you can see the chefs preparing dishes. I would recommend making a reservation in advance (made mine the day of). I noticed they have an outdoor area which looks super charming and romantic so I can see this restaurant being great for dates. Note that there is an 18% service fee for all parties regardless of size. Our server was Jacob and he was great! I loved the designs of the farfalle noodle and the wine glass--kudos to the artist! It really is a beautiful restaurant although it was so humid and warm when we came since the doors were kept open (it was a 70-80 degree night in January). I will also note they did not have any steps to the restaurant so it is accessibility friendly for those in wheelchairs and motorized chairs. Jacob recommended the Paccheri Doppio Pomodoro which I got, and it was amazing. I just wish it was a larger portion size! I also ordered it with the stracciatella which was worth it. For the starter, I split the Uovo al Tegamino con Crema di Patate e Tartufo. To be honest, I don't think this was really worth it. It wasn't that flavorful and I can see how the texture would turn some people off since it's very gooey. I did love my wine though--shoutout to the sommelier! Would not recommend, some of the worst service I've had at a restaurant ever. Took my girl friend here on Valentines Day, and they brought out our meals 20 minutes apart. We were literally not able to have our dinner together, which is what you go to a restaurant to do. Basically this restaurant can't handle the simple task of doing what a restaurant does. We had to ask where our second meal was, and then they were immediately able to bring it out and the food was cold. She had two bites and couldn't eat it. We weren't offered cheese on our food, nor bread prior to eating (although I saw it offered to everyone else). This restaurant entirely ruined my Valentines date. The worst part is, when I told the manager of this issue, she looked at me with a dumbfounded look as if they had done nothing wrong. She literally could not be bothered. Extremely unhelpful and unacceptable dining experience. Don't come here, there are much better Italian experiences in Wynwood/Miami. It's no wonder this place is always empty. read more

The interior of the restaurant is very cozy and warm with a long bar to sit and watch the pasta be made, but would recommend the patio for a group as it is larger. All of the food was incredible! We shared the truffle appetizer which was so rich and decadent, then all of the pastas were perfectly cooked. The reason I am leaving a 4 instead of a 5 was the service. Our server never introduced himself by name, and we had to ask for water / drinks / menus multiple times. We wanted to sit and chat so didn't mind the longer waits, but be prepared for slower service. This week's yap & chill was absolutely successful thanks to the tastiness of every dish we ordered. To start, we had the Insalata Con Pistacchio E Basilico and the Meat and Cheese Board as our appetizers. Both were really fresh and yummy. If you're vegan you can ask them to make the salad vegan by removing the dressing and getting oil and vinegar on the side. My friends each got the Orrechiette Alla Norma and I got the Paccheri Doppio Pomodoro, safe to say we all cleaned our plates and enjoyed our pastas very much! Everything felt homemade, very clean, and the flavors were popping in every dish. We loved the ambiance at their outside courtyard area. The chairs were comfy and there was more than enough space on the table for all our dishes. The only downside to this experience was the service. Our server didn't really pay much attention to us, we had to ask for help from another other server because she wasn't taking our order after a pretty long time, didn't refill our water, didn't check on us to see how the food was. I found a spot that your wine snob friends would totally approve of and they have great pasta, we are at Otto and Pepe in Wynwood and they're coming in hot with an amazing menu. We started with their uovo al tegamino con crema di patate e tartufo, creamy and surprisingly not too heavy. It was an excellent start, sometimes tartufo can be too overwhelming. Instead this one seemed light and yet creamy. Though the tartufo didn't come through, I was actually happy it did not. On to their wines, They have so many wine options all natural and I love that the menu has them separated by the region in Italy they belong to. We got their moscato and the Cab "Dario". Get the Dario and thank me later. We got their meat and cheese board because how else can you gauge wine without cheese? For pasta we recommend ordering their paccheri con branzino, an amazing pasta with a great portion of branzino, a must if you want to get enough protein. Their tagliolino limone e caviare a gorgeous luxurious tribute. The salty caviar is cut perfectly by the lemon and the creamy pasta. Great Italian restaurant! It is a pasta based restaurant, where they make everything in house. The manager, Ramiro, helped us select wines from the wine shop, and even showed us around! We saw the chef making the pasta in the windows when you come in, and you can sit at the pasta bar and watch everything made in front of you!
