A huge SHOUTOUT to bartender MAX. He was spectacular, friendly and full of energy. He educated both of us about there Gins. Philadelphia Distilling is one of the first craft distillery in Pennsylvania since Prohibition, known for its award-winning Bluecoat Gin and other so many other spirits, and features a tasting room with a full kitchen, cocktail bar, and tours in a historic Fishtown location. They offer a unique experience with views of its copper pot stills and seasonal menus.

Great vibe in the place, but the service is a bit... weird? A few people in our group arrived…read moreearlier and were already seated inside. A few more came and were shown to the table without difficulty but when the last two in our party arrived, they were stopped at the front. When they explained they were looking for people already seated inside and told them the name on the reservation, the hostess said that they have a lot of different parties inside and wouldn't know where the table is so my friends would have to go in and find the table themselves. Meanwhile, she has an iPad where she can look up our reservation which she had done just 15 minutes prior for others in our group. The drinks are interesting and pretty good. Keep in mind they're gin based and I thought they were pretty strong. The food options are very limited, but the potatoes were good.

Stopped in after a Yelp event walking thru Fishtown and happen upon the tasting room…read more Decided to enjoy the Whiskey Flight which included the White Whiskey which was clean and simple to get started, the Four Grain Whiskey that had a more intimate taste slowly moving to the darker Whiskeys. The Honey Whiskey I knew I was going to like as it had a sweet sip that didn't burn like the two prior. I could see myself drinking it neat or in a cocktail. The remaining two had similar tastes. Again not an expert on Whiskey so I know the Honey won me over with the pronounce sweet finish vs the more traditional whiskeys in the other tasting glasses. Regardless stop in before a night out or a serene way to walk throthrough Fishtown feeling a little bit warmer during the fall months.

In theory this was a place we were going to love. In the end, it was a bit of a letdown. Don't get…read moreme wrong, the drinks are fine. There are some interesting takes and combinations and the ingredients themselves are tasty. I went with the cardamon old fashioned, which was fair. I wasn't inspired to buy one of their somewhat pricey bottles of take-home spirits. The vibe itself is somewhat small which wouldn't necessarily bother me but we happened to go on a Sunday afternoon where there were two groups of patrons that were so so loud, borderline screaming. I'm all for having a good time but it was bordering excessive. And the service was strangely slow. It took a fair amount of time to get a menu, when there were essentially no other new people waiting and the bartender was cleaning her station, and getting the drinks/check took a good amount of time. With a lot of other options in the area I probably would chose something else.
