Philadelphia Distilling is one of the first craft distillery in Pennsylvania since Prohibition, known for its award-winning Bluecoat Gin and other so many other spirits, and features a tasting room with a full kitchen, cocktail bar, and tours in a historic Fishtown location. They offer a unique experience with views of its copper pot stills and seasonal menus.

A few more came and were shown to the table without difficulty but when the last two in our party arrived, they were stopped at the front. When they explained they were looking for people already seated inside and told them the name on the reservation, the hostess said that they have a lot of different parties inside and wouldn't know where the table is so my friends would have to go in and find the table themselves. Meanwhile, she has an iPad where she can look up our reservation which she had done just 15 minutes prior for others in our group. The drinks are interesting and pretty good. Keep in mind they're gin based and I thought they were pretty strong. The food options are very limited, but the potatoes were good.

They created 'Lo-Fi Aperitifs', 'Prize Fight Whiskey', 'Hendrick's Gin' and 'Sailor Jerry Rum'. They founded the 'Tamworth Distilling & Mercantile' & transformed the 'New Liberty Distillery'. Their tasting room is located at the Art in the Age Spirits & Bottle Shop. Most recently, I discovered the 'QC Shrub' drink. Generally, I find that certain brands of hard-ciders & low calorie PABs (progressive adult beverages) are too sweet or they give me acid reflux. This QC Shrub drink is made from a classic Colonial American recipe, the shrub. It contains a splash of apple cider vinegar that eliminates the need for added sugar. It is fantastic..not too sweet, slightly tart/tangy with a dry finish, sessionable, 90 calories, 3 grams of sugar & 4.0% ABV. I'm looking forward to see what other concoctions QCM develops!

Again not an expert on Whiskey so I know the Honey won me over with the pronounce sweet finish vs the more traditional whiskeys in the other tasting glasses. All had great flavor where the herbal notes really came through both on the nose and on the tongue. Any could serve as a sipping liquor, but cocktail recipes were suggested to us as well. Another great additional to the Philadelphia distilling scene! They also sell in a few state stores around the city, so keep an eye out for them.

After wards there's a whiskey tasting of about 5 small shots of their products. 1 rum, 3 whiskeys and a birch beer. Whiskeys were very tasty and bar tender was friendly and knowledgeable. They also have cocktails or whiskey on bar for about 13$. Overall this has a very independent vibe and was fun but definitely not same quality as the major places.

Palmer was our first stop, and I'm so happy that it was! The owner was very friendly and passionate about his gin. The careful eye will spot his face on the label--which is a very cool label that won an industry award. He walked us through the distilling process, a history lesson on gin and the spice trade, and even threw in a few food/brewery/distillery/cocktail bar recommendations for us to try on the next trip! The gin was also very good. I didn't try any of the cocktails but I did buy a bottle and can't wait to make a few of my own with it.
