KENOSHA, WISCONSIN ...Horrible experience!!! Be very careful! Worse choice I could have made. This company sent out their estimator which gave me an estimate of $1.600. I thought this was reasonable so I hired them. At the end of this nightmare move they handed me a bill for $2,400??? I get that give or take a couple hundred dollars is reasonable but $800.00!!! Somebody doesn't know what they are doing. Worse part of this nightmare was when I spoke to the owner of the company and he was so rude to me. After eighteen years we moved about forty miles away. Otto not only did the move for us with our four bedroom home but ended up storing our stuff for three weeks. I've heard many horror stories about movers in general but this move didn't have any of that. I don't often put my name out there with recommendations but with the experience I had using Otto, shame on me if if I didn't. It was two separate groups that picked up and then delivered our stuff and not only was everything wrapped and tapped up, but they laid down cardboard throughout the house on our hardwood floors as to not mark them. They were professional in everything they did. If you need movers, there isn't a better company to use and Otto has impressed me like few have. read more

Horrible experience. We moved from Racine, WI to Charleston, SC. The customer experience was sub-par. Our stuff was delayed and then on the delivery day, I receive a call from the driver that the truck broke down. So our delay turned from disappointment to more disappointment. My correspondence with one of the owners of the company was not understanding and continued to make excuses, without ever taking personal responsibility. He continually make excuses. I would never hire this company for a long-distance move. read more

I have moved so many times now that I have lost count from across town to across the country. I always get at least 4 estimates hoping that one will stand out of the others and that's exactly what I got from Otto Nelson Moving and Storage. Terry was the sales person that helped us with our move from Milwaukee to Chicago in August 2015. I interviewed five companies and I have to say he was the most knowledgeable and helpful with the information he provided. Not only that he actually made us feel like he actually cared about our move and wanted to make sure it went well. He made sure to follow up through the ertire process untill we were handed off to the coordinator who was just as attentive. More importantly the crew that was sent to complete our move were awesome. Some how it was not communicated that we had to have our move completed at our new building by 5 PM. So by the time we got to Chicago the guys had about two hours to get everything moved into the condo. When I told them we had to be done by 5 PM they were all over it and made it happen. The best part was that they were so apologetic about the misunderstanding and horrified that they were just putting stuff everywhere to get it done by 5 PM. They wanted to stay and unpack and rearrange the furiture for us. They kept stating "this is not how we do moves" and wanted to help us move items around. They didn't break anything, they were careful not to cause any damage to the common areas while moving items in and most of all were completely professional considering the circumstances. I give them a gold star and our thanks for a job well done. Would definately use them again in the future. read more

The crew assigned to me did a mediocre job overall, made a ton of mistakes, and did a really shitty job packing my storage locker. When they first showed up, I did a walk through with them, explaining where things were supposed to go (1: storage, or 2: my niece's house), and pretty much trusted they would do a good job. However, they didn't mark anything in a way that might help them remember what needed to be done, and they obviously didn't listen to anything I said. Boxes for storage were clearly labeled, uniformly, with a large black number on all sides of each box and top, and the boxes for my niece were not, AND they were staged in separate areas. But, they still mixed all the boxes on the truck, causing us to have to make an additional stop back to my niece's house to deliver her boxes, after we had already been there to drop off the furniture. At the storage facility, I had no opportunity to check how my storage locker was being packed, because I had to stay with the truck, telling the guy what should go into storage, and what needed to stay on the truck for my niece (after we had already been there). Then, I discovered they didn't put my mattresses in the bags which I paid for, and no-one was monitoring the elevator with my belongings on it, while other individuals were simultaniously using the elevator to move their things in. It was so unprofessional, I could go on. Then, when I started to tell the the crew supervisor (Ken?) how not to store my boxes on their sides, as they were visibly on their sides on the dolly, he started yelling at me, and saying I had been "riding" him all day, yadda yadda. At that point, I called his supervisor Jeff, because he was out of control, and I didn't deserve that. No-one who is paying premium for "professional" service, deserves to be yelled at. No, I am not happy at all with the way I and my belongings have been treated by Otto Nelson. The crew supervisor was rude, unprofessional, and tried to bully me into silence when I pointed out how I wanted my belongings stored. My storage locker is a jumbled mess, with all the boxes in the back, and the furniture in the front, which is just stupid. I never even got the chance to visually confirm that all my numbered boxes were even there. Now, with the way the furniture blocks everything, there is little chance I'll get to do that, or have access to anything I might need, without considerable trouble. Everything about this move was disappointing. I trusted Otto Nelson's business reputation, and decided to pay the extra costs of using a professional moving service, so that headaches like these would be avoided. What I got was no better than what 2 Men and a Truck, or, just some local guys and a U-Haul would do. I really expected better. Furthermore, when I shared this review with the owner in an email, he let me know that if I posted this, he would paint a negative picture of me, based on what the crew supervisor, who in my opinion is a big liar, said about me. read more

I moved from WI to FL and when the truck was unloaded there were a lot of damaged items. I was told I had to hold onto any broken items for 9 months and file an insurance claim. The sales person from the moving company told me it would all be covered. Well it wasn't. After 9 months, and claims people coming to my house a digging through my stuff, I was given a measly $250 even though there were thousands of dollars in damage. read more

Absolutely phenomenal service. I'm from AZ and my husband and I are clueless about Wisconsin snow... They shoveled and picked our steps for us, laid down cardboard in the house to protect our floors, and were so so courteous. Our previous movers in Hawaii poorly packaged our items and we had a lot of damage because of them... Will and Kaden from Otto and Nelson made me aware of it ASAP and took lots of pictures/files a claim immediately. They were so nice and I seriously cannot recommend them enough. read more

I most certainly would not recommend anybody to united van lines for their move, especially the one from Kenosha, WI (Otto Nelson Moving). They are were very unprofessional and had very poor customer service. My wife and I moved from from Milwaukee, WI to Dallas, TX. Initially the agent was very friendly and sweet talk you that if anything were to happen with the move they would certainly take care of it, however this definitely was not the case. I had them pack only about 20% of our belongings and every item they packed was broken and we had couple items that went missing. We had a glass coffee table we had them pack, which was scattered into many pieces. Some of the items were intentionally damaged, there is absolutely no way these items could have been damaged accidentally! Everything I packed was perfectly fine and without any damages. They gave us a standard delivery window of 4-12 days, which is common for moving companies, however we did not receive our items until 3 weeks later. The first time they tried to deliver out stuff, they brought another shipment. The wrong shipment was suppose to be delivered to New York. Instead our stuff ended up going to New York, which delayed an entire week for us to get our stuff. So our shipment when from Milwaukee to Dallas to New York and back to Dallas. They told us that we would know an actual date at the time of pick up, however they never gave us that information. During all this time of the mix up, they never updated us of where our stuff was and what was going on. I had to call them every time in order to get this information. I would leave messages and nobody would call me back. We had booked a vacation few days after the 12 days of delivery, which we had to cancel because our shipment was delayed another week. We lost about two thousand dollars from our vacation because we had to cancel as our shipment was mixed up. United van lines never offered us any sort of reimbursement. Nothing from the vacation or even the actual shipment! All I got was a "Sorry", and they didn't really seem to care. I ended up losing about $5,000 during this entire move without any sort of reimbursement. It was been two months and we have not yet been reimbursed for all the missing and damaged items! Everything that could go wrong with the shipment went wrong. It's definitely one of those stories you hear about bad moving companies. We were unfortunate to have this experienced ourself. This is why I am posting this review in hopes that nobody else has to go through this horrible experience. Most definitely would not recommend this company to anybody! read more
