Came with a group for ayce and was pretty impressed. Restaurant is modern and spacious. Servers are busy but once you flag yours down, they're pretty quick to get stuff done. The menu isn't super large but they do offer hand rolls which I don't see normally at these. The fish quality is fresh and they're pretty generous with the fish to rice ratio. It's also nice that you can get sashimi. I opted for a bunch of salmon, smoked salmon and yellowtail nigiri/sashimi and honestly the yellowtail and salmon is very high quality, with a great fat ratio. Seaweed salad makes for a great palate cleanser. Tempura is ok - a little greasy. End it all with some green tea ice cream. All in all, 2 hours is plenty of time to eat to your hearts content and you'll leave happy and full. read more

I visited on a Monday during happy hour lunch time at 230. It was so clean and quiet with light background music. Either I just missed a lunch rush and they cleaned up real good or no one came to eat but I believe the former since the staff was on point! My server had the perfect pace of checking on me, making sure my glass of water was always full. The bussers kept my table clean and clear every time I finished a plate. Food showed up within 3-5 minutes of ordering. Fantastic service. Onto the food quality. Everything that was expected to be hot came out fresh and hot. The edamame was beautifully steamy and ACTUALLY lightly salted. The crab rangoons were creamy and hot. The egg roll was crunchy, flavor profile a little bland but good. I understand we are landlocked and don't expect the best fish but the big three hit the spot of what I was craving. The salmon was melt in your mouth. I wish it were more chilled to have a more refreshing taste to complement the heat but it was still an A+. The tuna was a little dry and fishy. Had to mask with ginger. The yellowtail was good, no complaints. I was very impressed with the Alaska Roll I was served. I asked if they can make it into a hand roll and it did not disappoint! Phenomenal experience eating here for dinner on a Saturday evening. Easy to find parking in the shared parking lot with Fast Eddie's next door. Quickly seated after walking in and given menus. This place is AYCE, with drinks extra. Drink prices are lower than other restaurants of similar caliber. Drinks came out fast, and were delicious. Food also came out fast, about 5 minutes after ordering. This place was packed full, yet service remained quick throughout our time there. Excellent portion sizes and very tasty as well. Each sashimi was sliced about 3/4 cm thick. There's a limit of 20 sashimi pieces per order, but you can order multiple times during your two-hour limit. Interior decor comes across as upscale, with the elevator music not blaring loud. A couple of TV's in the bar area kept our time there interesting. Excellent new spot! There was plenty of seating on a weeknight and the layout and decor was built out nicely. The sashimi was top tier. The sushi rolls were pretty tasty although many contain fried ingredients. My only concern was the two special items I got were not good.. I'd want to deduct a star but the service deserved 6 stars alone so I will keep it at 5. Our server was Lauren and she was the best server we've ever had! She assured us about our food allergy concerns and was over all amazing. Definitely wanted to make this our new go to spot for her alone, buuuttttt she let us know she was moving on to something else because she's almost finished with school. I kept seeing Oumi on social media, so my friend and I decided to meet there for lunch. They technically had only soft opened and the grand opening wasn't for another week or so, so I called ahead of time just to make sure they were open. Parking is free and easy in the shared lot out front. I got a spot close to the front of the restaurant and then headed inside. The inside of the restaurant is very impressive and well done. Lots of boots and tables and the decor is really well presented. Everything looks very clean, as well. The employees are also right there as soon as you walk in the door, and they are all friendly. The rolls for me were a bit of a miss, because every one of the special rolls had tempura. The quality of the fish was ok, but none of the rolls really stood out to me. I don't typically like tempura and usually gravitate toward non-tempura rolls, but that wasn't really possible here unless you wanted regular rolls (California Roll, Alaska Roll, Boston Roll, etc) or nigiri (which we got a few pieces of). The lunch prices are definitely solid ($23 per adult) and the sushi was fine, so based on price alone I do think it's worth it. However, now that I have tried it, I don't think I'll make the trick all the way out there again, unfortunately! read more

My wife and I came here for my birthday in late February and I really had a great time. I took the day off in order to get the lunch prices because the dinner prices are a bit much. I was pleasantly surprised by the speed at which the sushi came out, the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the place, and of course the sushi. I did venture in having the tempura from the appetizer menu, but if you're here for the sushi just focus on that because some of them are extremely heavy due to being deep fried. These things all together made me love this place a lot. I know that Sushi Bang Bang is a few minutes drive away from here, but I think there was a lot more to offer and experience at this restaurant than over there. One last thing: My wife and I were completely surprised that this place actually existed since there was nothing in that spot for some time and then it seemed like in no time at all OUMI was open to the public. Loved this new AYCE spot that's close by our home in the NW ATX/Lakeline vicinity! We stopped by Oumi on New Year's for lunch and were very impressed and pleased with the attentive server and staff welcoming us, price point was right for a lunch spot and the offerings for food were order and they'd bring out and explain the dishes being coursed out. I loved our special rolls we got along with the sashimi appetizers, would def get these again! My picky kiddo got an order of fried rice and some chicken nuggets which helped and we also appreciated that they were very much good about picking up our dishes and asking if we wanted to put in our next round. Interior was clean, and aesthetic of the decor and bathrooms were very nice, well lit and maintained. Second time coming here and the sushi is pretty solid. We have a teenage son so all you can eat sushi for a reasonable price is pretty hard to beat. My only criticism was for the fried rice. I like trying hot items to see if everything on the menu is good, but the rice didn't really have any flavor. The serving size was fair, just very bland. Went for lunch today for their soft opening and their all-you-can-eat sushi. Seating- Checking in was chaotic, as some people had numbers to wait to be seated and some people were waiting to check-in, but when some people (I'm talking to my bald headed friend in flip flops who acted rude when I asked him if he was waiting to check-in) in the check-in line are standing there not committing to either side, it doesn't help. There is a lot of seating in this restaurant, and they even have room for larger parties. Service- The young lady who waited on me was really nice, but it did take her about 5-10 minutes to get to my table to get my drink order, and she only had one other table to serve, so not sure if there was something else going on, and she did apologize for the wait. Food- I ordered the following, and my hot take on each dish - House Salad: More watery than dressing. Needs more dressing and the lettuce needs to be cut up better, as I got a lot of the lettuce chunks, and water was not properly drained off. - Kani Salad: Pretty good, but spicy. - Clear Soup: Tasted more like water than the broth - Miso Soup: Also, tasted more like water than the miso. - Tuna Roll: Pretty good. Would order again - Maguro (Tuna Sushi): The rice was pretty hard, and I couldn't really taste the rice vinegar in the rice. I eat a lot of white long-grain rice and sushi, and I can tell you that the rice was underwhelming. - Wasabe: Pretty chunky and not as pasty as it should be Also, good luck getting cell phone reception in the restaurant. I was trying to add more pictures of the food, but because the reception was not great here, and there is no free wifi to be found nearby, I couldn't post immediate photos of my experience. They also let you pay at the table, but if the reception is not working, then this might be a problem. Final Verdict: I know this was the restaurant's first day, so all the bugs have not been worked out yet, and I hope they eventually will get it worked out. I will probably give them another chance in a month to see if the bugs have been worked out. I would say give it a try, but do as I did, and try at lunch when it is a little cheaper, so you can judge the place for yourself. High points are the really nice staff and a very clean restaurant. Friday night, Date night, Just me and my boo, We arrived Friday at 8:30 p.m. and there was no wait, We were seated immediately. This is such a big location with so much seating. Our waiter greeted us almost immediately, We ordered water and house red wine to start. He gave his time to review the menus while he got our drinks. We started with a couple of appetizers, Seafood soup (But they brought out vegetable soup), house salad and spring rolls (The spring rolls were fried). We eventually got the seafood soup. The soups had good flavor the house salad was fresh and tasty. We then ordered some hibachi items and red snapper sushi. Note that they do not have regular rice It's all fried rice. Everything we ordered was good except for the lobster roll, whatever the topping was was very fishy and not In a good fishy way, we just did not like it. I really liked all of the hibachi items. This all-you-can-eat place just opened up a few weeks back, and we wanted to try it and compare it to other ones. We came on Friday before Valentine's Day, and we were a party of 2+ a high chair. We ended up waiting for maybe 15 min max before we got seated. We ordered the following: Spicy edamame: I'd say it was a few minutes undercooked and a bit hard; the spicy sauce was a good balance though. Avocado salad: it's your basic mixed green with a mayo-based sauce and slices of avocado; nothing wow. Mango margarita: the bartender did a good job with the margarita. Sashimi platter: octopus, smoked salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. They were cut pretty thick and were all fresh. Rolls: Shaggy dog: this was one of our favorites. All the flavors are greatly balanced. Angry lobster: I got it mainly because of the mango, but there was barely any mango, and it was very basic. Broncos roll: it said it had filet mignon, but the pieces were so tiny that you couldn't really taste the meat in the roll. Sexy girl: this was the basic spicy tuna roll. We also ordered spicy tuna hand roll, and that was well prepared with a good amount of spicy tuna in the roll. For dessert, we got the tempura banana, and it was light and not too sweet. Overall, for an all-you-can-eat place, the service was really good, the food came out fast, and it was very clean and did not smell like fish. I have tried almost all the AYCE sushi spots here in Austin, so I was excited to see that Oumi opened up. To preface, the ambiance and service were great. Very fast service and large dining area. However, the food quality and taste were subpar. For around the same price as all the other AYCE sushi spots, Oumi's fish quality is not as good. The tuna was very fishy and did not have a mild flavor. They do give big pieces of sashimi which is nice, but the quality is not there. Also the rice was very sticky and dense making it kind of hard to swallow. FOOD BREAKDOWN - Salmon Sashimi: One of the better fish options I ordered - Tuna Sashimi: very fishy - Eel Sashimi: standard like other places - Mango Salmon Appetizer: I think the salmon here is not bad, so this was a pretty good appetizer. Smoked salmon: reminiscent of what you'd get in a bagel, i definitely shouldve asked our server if it was seared or not Eel: typical, hard to mess up Tuna: the tuna unfortunately was very very very fishy and did not taste fresh Shrimp: friend said the texture was rubbery I hope this visit was just a one off chance that they were having a bad day since we were very excited to try. Oumi Sushi - Japanese Near Me - Austin, Texas

We've got plenty of AYCE sushi spots in the Austin area now and unfortunately, it seems like Oumi has some work to do to catch up to the others. On paper, for $30ish for AYCE rolls and sashimi, Oumi sounded very promising but after ordering a variety of things, only the Shaggy Dog roll (shrimp tempura roll with imitation crab on top) was worth re-ordering. The seared salmon on top of the Old Town Roll was too thin, the sriracha on top of the Double Salmon Roll was too overpowering, and worst of all, the salmon sashimi was icey. I had to let the salmon sashimi sit for a good 20 minutes before it thawed and even then, it was so cold, it was unappetizing. My friend claims he got brain freeze when heating his escolar sashimi. Given my bad experience with my salmon, I don't doubt that it did. For our group of four, we were all pretty aligned that Oumi Sushi missed the mark and that there are other AYCE sushi spots worth visiting instead. Our server, Jimmy was awesome! He was super attentive and fast, we definitely appreciated that. The food was also good. The salmon and pepper tuna were very good and high quality. The lobster roll was my favorite! However, there were some misses. The gyozas were not crispy, tasted like they had been sitting out all day. The steak hibachi was chewy and tasted microwaved. This place is delicious. I have never had anything bad on their menu. Premium sushi rolls are included on the lunch menu and their prices are very reasonable. Service can be a little slow but they are very friendly and helpful. They are currently hiring so I am sure it will improve. The place is brand new and looks like a high end establishment. Everything is marble or polished wood. It's clear they put a lot of work into it. I highly recommend it. The food was be a good value at twice the price but it's amazing for the lunch costs. The lunch AYCE special is a good deal. It's not the best sushi I've ever had, but when I'm in Austin my standards are a lower. I've had a lot of sushi in Austin that's much worse than this, and I'm pretty sure this is the best you can get for this price point. The raw fish can be kind of hit or miss depending on the day, but the smoked salmon nigiri and shaggy dog roll are consistently good. I also liked the old town roll. The red dragon was ok, and also spicier than spicy crab meat usually is. I also really like the vegetable tempura (but mostly the sweet potato one). read more
