Our Dog House Camarillo is the only place I will bring my Brewski! The staff is amazing, and so sweet to our boy. They are very attentive, communicative and are always easy to get ahold of. They are very cautious about making sure all the dogs are caught up on vaccines to make sure all the pups are safe. I know they love him and he loves going there for boarding and daycare!

Even though our dog is a non-descript mutt straight from the Little Brown Dog printer, they greet her by name every time, and she runs in, forgetting we exist. Can there be a better review than that?

If you enjoy bacterial infections and terrible customer service, look no further--this is the place for you. Here's an honest review of my experience: I've taken my two dogs to this boarding facility twice before their most recent stay (December 24-26). They returned home happy both times, and I had no major issues--though I did note a minor inconvenience. Despite being told that someone would be available to answer calls for updates during the stay, no one answered the phone when I called several times. While this was frustrating, it wasn't a deal-breaker. This time, however, was a completely different story. When I picked up my dogs and brought them home, they were unusually lethargic. Within about 30 minutes, my larger dog began vomiting profusely. Initially, I thought he might be stressed from the visit. But soon after, my older dog developed diarrhea, which quickly turned dark red and bloody. Over the course of the night, he was repeatedly vomiting or having diarrhea--every hour, like clockwork. He couldn't keep any food down for more than two days and eventually lost interest in eating altogether. Despite not eating, the vomiting and diarrhea persisted. Then, my smaller dog started showing the same symptoms. After two days of worsening symptoms, I took my dogs to the vet. The diagnosis? A bacterial infection likely caused by contaminated water, or surfaces at the boarding facility. The vet visit cost over $1,300 and included fluids for dehydration, fecal and blood tests, medications, and emergency fees. Both dogs eventually recovered, but it was an incredibly stressful and expensive ordeal. I decided to review the facility's paperwork to check for any policies on illnesses caused by their facility. While it mentioned that viruses were non-refundable, there was no mention of bacterial infections. With this in mind, I contacted the facility for two reasons: 1. To inform them so they could take steps to prevent similar incidents. 2. To request, in good faith, some kind of refund. I wasn't expecting much, maybe just an apology or a small token of acknowledgment. Instead, I was met with a nightmare of unprofessionalism. I initially called and spoke with a staff member, who assured me that the manager, Diana, or assistant manager, Sam, would call me back the same day. That didn't happen. I called again and was told they'd call the next day. No call. After several failed attempts, I stated I'd come in person to speak with Diana. Eventually, I received a text from Diana explaining she had called my boyfriend's number instead of mine. No big deal--it happens. When we finally spoke, I calmly explained the situation, from the symptoms to the vet's diagnosis, and that I read the paperwork which only precluded refunds for viruses. I also reiterated that my dogs were healthy when I dropped them off but came home extremely ill. I politely asked for a refund as a gesture of good customer service. Diana's response was shocking. Rather than showing a shred of concern or apologizing, she became defensive, claiming it was like children getting sick and unavoidable. She also mentioned I had signed paperwork waiving refunds for viruses. I corrected her, explaining the dogs had a bacterial infection, and I had the vet's notes and bills to prove it Diana begrudgingly responded, "So, you're not saying this is a virus?" When I said no, Diana then said "Fine then. Since you're calling it a bacteria infection, we will give you a refund but we would ask that you not board your dogs here again." I said no problem; I had no intention of returning after this interaction. The next day, Diana called again, offering only a partial refund "to protect herself and the staff." Protect from what? Bird flu? WWIII? A zombie apocalypse? Though nonsensical, I just wanted the situation to be over. This experience has been beyond disappointing. Diana's rude and dismissive attitude was appalling. Had she shown even a shred of kindness or professionalism, I would have let this go without pushing for a refund or resorting to leaving this negative review. EDIT: Management left a standard response to this message. The comment was more sincere and kind than the actual phone conversation--for public image it seems. But instead of leaving it at that, Diana PRIVATE messaged me saying I should take creative writing since I'm full of it. I'm very disheartened about the continued unprofessionalism. My dogs were sick--that is undisputed and the vet told me after a series of tests that it was a bacterial infection. Of course I enjoyed my first few visits, my dogs weren't sick and pooping blood every hour. She also added that I was on "audio and camera" to intimidate and threaten me. Just apologize and run a legitimate business. But here is a screenshot of how they speak and treat their customers.

So thankful I have a place I trust not only to care for my dog while I'm gone but also to love him. We got Jack at 8 months old and he's very slow to warm up to people. Jack loves ODH and so do we! PS They even send us pictures of our boy while we are gone!

Thank you SO MUCH for taking such great care of my fur baby, Koda! The patience you have had with him in finding his right pack/playgroup. And your open communication when he was in your care for boarding was so important to me. Koda loves you all and so do I for loving him! Our Dog House is the best!!!

This is Ozzy and Our Dog House took such good care of him!!

    See all

My dogs love to go here. Nice for when I am at work. They also board when I travel, at a familiar place, with familiar staff.

The deluxe condos are multilevel and divided so kitty has separate eating, sleeping, and necessary areas. The room my cats have stayed in has huge windows on to lovely and thoughtful landscaping. The cottages and suites are very spacious with lots of room to play and interesting things to do. The owner is very nice, and takes the time to show you around and allow you to help get your cat comfortable. She listens to care instructions and is patient with you and your fluffy little monster. I brought a sheet, her (my cat, not the owner) favorite toys, a piece of clothing with my smell on it, and her food (3 kinds), and some treats, along with her probiotic powder. Kittyland handled it all. You can put in your feeding and any medication instructions online when you book, and then go over everything when you get there. She is also flexible with pick-up times (within the pick-up and drop-off windows). They even do daycare, though it didn't give her much time to settle down the time we had to send her while they were reglazing our tub with toxic fume-generating chemicals.
