Our Spot is a gem of a cafe with inventive drinks, quality pastries, and an amazing staff. I love that Our Spot is a coffee shop that doesn't phone it in when it comes to tea options. They design their specialty drinks to work equally well with espresso or matcha and there's no upcharge for subbing matcha in your drink. The owners, Chris & Ali, are clearly looking to build community as well as business. They take time to get to know their customers, and will spend time table-side having open and honest conversations about the world of coffee & tea purveying. They currently have a smart concept, utilizing restaurant spaces on their off hours: weekend mornings/afternoons to set up shop. I hope to see this grow into a stand-alone cafe where people can gather and savor their favorite beverages. Meet me at OUR SPOT! This is a great addition to Long Beach's lovely downtown area. This coffee spot has uniquely thought out flavor combinations that are interesting and delicious. Their menu is split between classic coffee drinks and experimental ones like matcha and raw cacao (Coping Mechanism - love the name) that I didn't expect to find but it held my attention. Adventurously, I ordered it and though the first sip was surprising, by the second sip, I loved it. They offer a variety of tasty looking pastries at the counter. Pop up shop in Long Beach with house made syrups. I had to make the trek there. FYI it's inside Livs Definitely extra credit for trying fun flavors. Miso coconut caramel latte. I tried it. Wish I loved it. Loved the creativity. Glad I got it but it wasn't for me. I am more of a simple latte guy and that's why I ordered two Vanilla latte with house made syrup. No way I was going to not get one. Was good. I really think the beans are a bit too strong though. Just wasn't balanced as much as I like. But still decent. Overall great experience. After three friends asked me if I'd been here, I decided to go. They just opened to the public yesterday. Easy to find in the alley, Chris was immediately welcoming, and said he'd help me with the menu after finishing up a drink, great trading and experimental menu. Atmosphere is perfect with beautiful photos and art pieces on the wall, and a piano in back, plenty of seats and table space to bring your friends with you. After having breakfast today, I went on an adventure and discovered a little coffee shop that turned out to be a gem! It was a cart located inside a restaurant, which made it a bit tricky to find. After getting some steps in and buying some socks, we finally located it. We were greeted by the owners and had a nice chat about the menu. I decided to try "The Bloody Good Thyme," and we also ordered their version of a cold brew. Both drinks were uniquely delicious and definitely worth the effort it took to find. I chose hot yellow submarine, which is part of their winter menu. It is sous vide coffee with caramelized bananas, served with one crème brûlée banana chip. That definitely added a nice touch! My drink was pretty good. It's coffee with a background of banana. I appreciate that the banana flavor wasn't overpowering My husband said his matcha latte wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. Highly recommend checking out Our Spot! My go to is their iced sous vide coffee - I could drink it all day. For something more fun, their Cali Carajillo is a non alcoholic coffee cocktail. It tastes even better in a glass sitting at the bar while watching Chris do his thing making drinks! If this isn't for you, they have plenty of other fun drinks that are always rotating seasonally.
