I was in the store last Tuesday 3/29/2022. I was not looking for anything specific, just love quilting. While I was in the store I met Josh, he was loading a quilt on the long arm. I purchased a long arm 1.5 years ago and have been terrified. Josh spent at least an hour talking to me and sharing some tip and tricks. Well this weekend, I came home and fired up that machine. I quilted a lap size quilt that has been loaded on the machine as long as I have had it. It didn't turn out bad for my first attempt. I can't wait to get another top constructed so I can practice some more. Josh, your customer service was amazing and you were so generous with your time and knowledge. Thank you! I just recently discovered this store after Mill end fabrics closed. I had to have two parcels covered so my upholsterer told me to go there and find the perfect fabric. I went there and met Ian one of the owners, a young man very knowledgeable and very accommodating who help me incredibly. He answered all of my questions show me the different fabrics and the price was ridiculously affordable. I needed some extra foam so I went to a fabric store which was a little closer but I couldn't believe the difference in price 50% higher. I got back in my car and said I'm going back to this fabric store because they really have great prices and great service. I have never seen such a big facility with so much fabric, notions, every kind of putting personal or anything you need for sewing. I really want to go back when I have more time and just wander through the store because they have such a variety of so many things. If you have a project, whether it be making clothing or slip covers or cushions I highly recommend you go over and see Ian. read more

Josh spent a lot of time demonstrating the long arm. He is so generous with information and his own innovations that I plan to incorporate them with my own arm. If I didn't have an arm, he would be my "Right Arm!" His quilting expertise is awesome and prices to RENT his long arm are great., have him quilt for you is even better! Having just been completely disappointed by JoAnn Fabrics in Carson City, I did a quick search for fabric stores in Carson City. Out of My Mindesigns came up and I hit give me directions. I was running errands for my wife and to be honest, fabrics are not my forte! I walked in, Ian greeted me and immediately found exactly what my wife sent me out for! He's my new hero and knowing about the grief my wife has previously had with JoAnn's, we both agreed this is her new go to place for everything fabric! read more

I really like this place. Not the biggest selection but the customer service was amazing. Long story short, I recommend this place. It's local and it's lovely. I came in to purchase foam and fabric for a project. I was grateful when the man helping me double checked my dimensions because he caught a mistake I made and saved me money. Then he helped me figure out exactly how much fabric I'd need (obviously I'm not great with math.) He also helped me guide the overflowing cart out of the store. They are also connected to urban thrift which is a little shop that has ACTUAL THRIFT PRICES. read more

I LOVE this shop!!! its a thrift shop and sewing store and they know all about quilting!!! they have, I think its called a" long arm" that puts your quilt together. great selection of books and clothes and so many different items to choose from. The brothers that own the shop are FANTASTIC!!! They are so helpful, so courteous and so knowledgeable about sewing. i really enjoy coming to this store!!! read more

So happy to find this place! The young man who owns and runs this unique fabric store worked for many years at Mill End Fabric. He knows his stuff. Quilting, Upholstery, clothing and all that goes into these things. Located in the building previously filled by Classy Seconds, on Hot Springs Rd between Carson St. and Roop. Adjoins Urban Thrift. I am pleasantly surprised to find this fabric store. The selection is very good and the prices are most reasonable. Also great customer service. I look forward to going there many more times now that I have found them. And here I thought all we had was the big-box places... :D read more
