We just moved to Southern Maryland and decided to try out the local Outback on a Wednesday evening. We sat in the bar area and were fortunate to get Melissa M as our server. She was very friendly and attentive enough to take good care of us. The food was delivered promptly and the quality was excellent. I usually get a petite filet but decided to do the sirloin and unlimited shrimp - it was great! I'll probably get the filet next time, but the sirloin was really good. My daughter and I were at the restaurant right when they opened at 11am. I ordered the unlimited soup and salad and I got a kids meal for my daughter. I was never asked if I wanted a refill on either my soup or salad. My daughters food was brought out on a scorching hot plate and placed in front of her. There was some kind of grease on the floor that made the bottoms of my shoes so slippery I almost fell while going to the bathroom. Our waitress said she would bring me water I waited 15 minutes for my water and never got it. At that point I was annoyed with the service and just wanted to leave so I asked for the check. I went to the bathroom and there was a piece of metal, almost looked like a razor blade, on the counter which my daughter almost picked up. The changing table in the bathroom was so low I had to kneel down to change her. As I was walking out of the restuarant holding a child in one arm and box of food in the other struggling to open the door no one offered to help, even though there was staff members right there. When I got to the second door there was a wire, looked electrical, hanging out of the wall that almost poked my daughter in the eye! We eat at Outback often and enjoy many of the food options. Tonight we went to Outback and I decided to try a new dish; It wasn't my cup of tea. I was embarrassed to say anything but I did tell our waiter Jacob, and though I insisted against it because I felt bad, he went out of his way to make sure I was happy with my dinner and brought me out a dish I loved. The managers Zack and Megan both came to my table to make sure I was happy and see if there was anything else they could do. They really made our night and we will definitely continue to go back. So I felt safe picking an outback for dinner last night but the old southern MD customer service always seems to disappoint....:( My wife and I were seated quickly and the waitress came over to get us drinks-standard stuff here. We knew what we want quickly so caught her bringing back the drinks and ordered our food. Wife order chicken, no bacon please and I ordered grilled chicken. Easy We wait about 20 minutes-no biggie-and the food is delivered. Ok: food not hot, bacon on my wife's dish and nobody around.... After about 10 minutes the gentlemen that delivered the food comes by with more food and we tell him it's not our but ask him for ketchup- don't see him again. Another 15 minutes pass before our waitress finally gets to our table and we ask her for ketchup. Finally we get some ketchup but the food is freezing and my wife is giving me the face of just pay and let's go.... So yeah, standard southern MD service and the food was nothing to write home about. All in all 45 bucks....rather spend it on food/wine at home. Good luck read more

Took 50 mins to receive our silverware. Salads even longer. Appetizers were nowhere to be had. Female manager didn't know what was on the menu referring to fried mushrooms. I recently had dinner at the California, Maryland Outback. I have eaten at this restaurant numerous times since it opened, and had considered it a good option for a nice meal at a reasonable price. My opinion has changed. Not sure when it happened, but Outback has cut portions and raised prices. I ordered the half rack of baby back ribs, which came with a single side. For $17 I got a house salad and four scrawny rib bones. Not sure how Outback calls four rib bones a half rack. It is more like one-third. I walked away from my meal hungry and very disappointed. The other five people at my table had other entrees, which were not as meager as my rib meal, but they were overpriced. I will think twice before going to Outback again. read more

Ordered a delivery of kids sized chicken tenders, skillet Carmel cookie, and a taz bites apps (boneless buffalo wings) the food was great however I was very disappointed in the size of the cookie and the wings. There where about 6 wings and the cookie was about as big as my palm.Appetizers are to be shared, not individualized and the cookie did NOT look like it did on the website. VERY displeased by this not to mention my bill was almost $30.00 for all three dishes. not what I expected, don't think I'll be ordering delivery from them again. read more

When I first got here I was impressed with the friendliness of the staff. However I was not impressed by the kitchen. I waited over an hour for grilled chicken and when it was served to me it was not fully cooked, chicken takes maybe 10-12 minutes to cook!! And in my opinion it is unacceptable to serve chicken not fully cooked. I had never had this problem here before. However The manager came over to my table and assured me that he would fix it. He had the chicken fixed and did more than necessary to show me that he truly did want to make things right. Once the chicken was cooked longer it tasted great. Since the staff was so friendly and the manager made things right I will definitely be giving them another try! read more

My family and I go to outback quite frequently and we usually love it. We went today and the service was terrible and they weren't even busy. But the worst was yet to come. When my daughter received her ice cream sundae, she took a few bites and then suddenly pulled out a 3 inch piece of latex glove out of her mouth. I was completely shocked and disgusted. When the manager FINALLY came over he acted as if it were nothing and calmly said our meal would be free. He said it was a piece of his chefs glove. I found it to be serious! My little girl could have choked!!!! My family and I went to outback tonight to see if they could redeem themselves, and I must say that they did. The service was good and the food was amazing. The only issue we had was that the deserts took like 20 mins to come out. read more

I remember they used to be a time when Outback Steakhouse was exceptionally great unfortunately that time is long past it seems like they started slacking on their quality control and you don't respond kindly 2 positive criticism I'm not sure what's going on over there the lady you told me she was the owner seems like a complete nutcase. Getting food borne illnesses is a serious matter. I don't want to go into details but it was pretty disgusting and this lady was on the defense rather then being objective. Water disaster someone needs to buy their place and run it better has such great potential but such a disappointment. read more

I love Outback, but be careful when you get curbside take away here. They almost always mess up my orders. Just check you're bag before you leave - especially to see if they've cooked the correct steaks to the correct wellness. All the time they reverse me and my husbands preferences and we have to switch meals. read more

Had dinner at Outback yesterday. The blooming onion was overcooked. The steak was fair, the fries that came with it were only edible and were a half portion at best. The best thing was the broccoli. We also.had the quesadilla. It was also over cooked (crisp) and there was little filling in it. It was served with a honey mustard sauce that was to sweet in my opinion. When I asked for pico de gallo they were out. For what we spent I expected a better meal and will not be back. read more

My husband and I just had a wonderful and delicious dinner at the California MD location. This did not surprise us as we've eaten there many times and the food has ALWAYS been excellent. Just like the food, in the past our waiter/waitress provided good service as well. However, tonight's dinner-outing was made more special due to the EXCELLENT and ATTENTIVE service we received from our waitress MONIQUE! She greeted us with a smile, was extremely pleasant, took our orders quickly, keep us abreast of our food order status and checked to see if we needed anything else throughout our dinner. Monique provided this outstanding service while tending to 4 other tables with atleast 4 people at each table!!! We are retirees and eat out ALOT. I can honestly say that the service provided to us tonight by MONIQUE made our dinner experience truly delightful. Because of the outstanding service MONIQUE provided us your steakhouse will definitely be our go-to dinner spot!!! read more

If you are originally from a big city...don't expect to get the type of service you normally get. We love Outback, but the one in California, MD is not the best. We have had bad service on numerous occassion - from cold steaks, undercook meat, poor customer service, and even found a plastic foreign object in a salad. The managers there are more concerned about their social life then helping customers....the normal procedure for Outback when there is an issue is to have a manager come to the table straight away and rectify the problem. I think we had a manager visit us once and they took the price of the salad off our meal (a big $2.50 savings). Anyway, if you want a good steak, try Texas Roadhouse in Waldorf...great steaks and great service. It is worth the 45 minute drive. read more

Once upon a time - as in about 6 years ago - this used to be a fantastic Outback.. As it went steadily downhill in food quality and service, my visits became more intermittent - about once a year.. Holding out hope it would have returned to it's former quality. Tonight was one if those visits and will be our last. Despite decline in food quality - and despite there being these past few years two other steak houses (both very good) within a mile from Outback, nobody could beat this Outback's Queen Victoria filet (or their Ceasar salad). Tonight the salad was mediocre, my filet was dreadful, tough, and riddled with fat (despite the 1.99 teaspoon of flavorless sauce & mushrooms on top) ... My husband's steak was just as tough. The mashed potatoes were shamefully bland, and the service was blase' at best. Outback, you better drastically bring up your game or you'll be the next restaurant closing in these parts. Customers can go 1/2 mile away - for the same price - and enjoy a delicious dinner at Longhorn. For less than Outback prices you can enjoy a great (albeit loud) meal at the Texas Roadhouse - just about a mile away. I truly suggest that's what you do - and give this place a miss! read more
