Decided to give Ruddy Duck a revisit on a spur of the moment decision with the wife. It's always a treat to come here. Immediately greeted upon entry and chose the dining room and maybe had 3 other couples at the same time. Cole was our server and they were fantastic! Attentive and never let the beer get empty and was willing to suggest substitutions or modifications with ease and expertise! We had the crab dip to start and honestly I'd give it a 3.2/5. Definitely had a crab flavor but it had much more cheese than meat. Wifey ordered the Brussels sprouts and old bay wings as her meal and I went with the prime dip with bacon and duck fat fries. Brussels weren't hoisin like on menu but left dry with a balsamic sauce on the side! Crunchy and flavorful! 4.4/5! Wings were perfectly seasoned and huge! Perfectly crispy and delicious. 4.7/5! As for the Prime Dip! Sooo much cheese. Must have a Green Bay Packer fan in the kitchen or something but hot damn. Prime rib was flavorful. Bacon was a genius addition by yours truly. We had a bad experience. We were seated after a short wait and were told our server would be by shortly. It took about 10 minutes before he even stopped by and told us he was very busy. About five minutes later a woman came over to take our order. A few minutes later, someone else came over to take our order. It did not seem to be a very orderly place. Overall, our experience was pretty good. It's located inside of a shopping center next to a hotel. There is also plenty of parking directly in front of the restaurant. I ordered fish and chips with the sautéed vegetables. Food was seasoned well and came out quickly. Our waitress was also very friendly and reviewed the special menu items with us. I did find a hair in my food. However, the manager was very kind and took care of it by offering to remake the food and also removing it from the bill without me having to ask. Limited menu, very boozy drinks, expensive. It just isn't for me. If you're looking for someone casual and interesting I would pick somewhere else. This restaurant comes off kind of "boogie" which isn't my personal style. Do not take kids here, there's nothing for them. Interesting - in September Thurs were local fresh oyster night. Chatted with fellow culturing, harvesting and shucking them on the way into restaurant. Nice meaty raw oysters. Hubby loved the roasted blue cheese and caramelized onion ones so much he missed out on the spicy onion rings. Had seasonal sorghum beers, they were Surprisingly sweet. Cole was our server and she kept the dishes moving, when we were too stuffed to nibble the check showed up and processed ASAP. First time here, great cabin feel. Not your tiny cabin... those huge ones that have canoes hanging from the ceiling. I didn't order food but I had some drinks. The dragon fruit ale was very clean and refreshing. I already miss it. The Irish stout started a fight in my mouth and I left with hurt feelings. This restaurant was a surprisingly good find in the seafood-dominated cuisine of Southern Maryland. We ate on Saturday at lunch. The place was not busy. Service was attentive and quick with the drink refills. I think this was in part because it took a very long time for our food to get out. Ambiance was very American grill- there was a nice patio area we didn't get to try because of the weather. As far as the food went, we were delighted that they had a dedicated gluten free menu. Everyone enjoyed their food except for the fried chicken, but that might be because he is a devotee of Raising Cane's. We had some minor quibbles with some details-- I thought my duck fat fries were waaaay too greasy, for example-- but otherwise if you are visiting the area I think this is the best upscale option in the area that can handle food issues gracefully. We haven't been to the Ruddy Duck in a while. We went about a week ago. Took a party of 11 in there one hour before closing and Chris was absolutely fantastic! He got every order correct, he was so patient as we had 6 kyds with us ages 6-14, and very attentive to our needs, and funny! Monica was wonderful when we flagged her down running past asking her which entree she would pick out of two! The 2 sisters decided to treat themselves out to lunch. We wanted to eat outside so we chose the Ruddy Duck. The outside area was very nice. The weather was perfect. My sister ordered a burger and fries and I ordered fish tacos and fries. When the food arrived, the fries were room temperature and my fish taco cool less then room temperature. I informed another waitress and she took the french fries back. I was too hungry to give up my fish tacos. We got our fresh order of hot french fries in a short period of time. This restaurant sits across the parking lot of the hotel we stayed at for two nights. We knew this before arriving so the plan was to take advantage of their 'Power Hour's where all appetizers are half price (limit one per person). Excellent deal. We ordered the petite crab cakes, the dry rubbed wings and the spicy onion rings. The crab cakes could have used some more Old Bay but the wings made up for that. The onion rings were amazing. All that food and three cocktails came to about $45. The next night we decided to try their pizza. Omg. It's the best. Crisp chewy crust, we got the pepperoni and the flavor was perfect. We came by as a party of 7 to celebrate our daughters early birthday. We were seated quickly and ordered our drinks, of tea and several different types of beer along with a flight. We enjoyed the drinks but did not have one that really stood out. We also started with he crab dip which was very salty but some really enjoyed it along with onion rings. We ordered Crab Cake Dinners(32$), Bulgogoi Bowl(24$), Brewhouse Burger(16$), Ahi Tuna Bowl(18.50$),Frutti Di Mare(21.50$). A truly fine place to sit a spell and hoist a cold one. The ceiling is vaulted and the stone covered walls make for a comfortable space to let the Southern graciousness of the servers do their thing. I wasn't starving so the potato leek soup and an overflowing Caesar Salad were beyond ample. A terrific find and one I'll make a note of the next time I'm down Solomon way. We stopped here after a lovely day at Calvert Cliffs state park. The staff was so welcoming and helpful! We brought out pup and enjoyed the outdoor patio seating. They went above and beyond and brought water bowls out for the pups followed by homemade peanut butter treats. The food was also amazing. I had fish tacos, my daughter had fish and chips and my husband had a macro salad. They were all delicious. The macro salad was the winner. It was so good and had a grilled chicken breast, hummus, falafel, pickled onion, salad green, quinoa and more. The fish tacos were big and full of fresh baked fish. We were famished after a long hike at Calvert Cliffs State Park. So, I hopped onto Yelp to find a good place for lunch and came across the Ruddy Duck. We did call ahead of time to make sure they still had available seating, as noted on their website. Since it was raining, we ate inside. We really appreciated the precautions they took to create a safe and clean environment during COVID -- from having socially distanced tables to waiters wearing masks. Anyways, the food was phenomenal, which I really didn't expect when I first saw the restaurant from the outside. It is pricey, but I think it's worth it. I ordered the Brewhouse burger -- a classic burger which also comes with bacon and cheddar cheese on a brioche bun. The burger was juicy, flavorful and medium rare, just how I like it. I'm so glad I paired it with duck fat fries, which were golden crispy and topped with Parmesan cheese. I also got to try the Cioppino, which was one of their specials that day. The broth was delicious. Meanwhile, the fish and chips my brother ordered was light and melts in your mouth. And for those who like beer, I think the Oreo Stout and Wit's End are a must. Definitely will be coming back to Ruddy Duck whenever I come down to Calvert for a hike :-) read more

We were really looking forward to eating here as it is adjacent to the hotel we were staying at - we strolled across the parking lot for a late lunch. We had no problem getting seated & the atmosphere was appealing - nice brewpub feel. Our waitress was friendly & took our order quickly. First snag was when our waitress told us the soda machine was on the fritz & there was no carbonation...OK I can live with that. We ordered 2 salads - mine with Honey Mustard & my Girlfriend's with ...not Ranch. The salads were brought to us by another person & after she walked away, we noticed both had Ranch. We tasted the & the ranch dressing was pretty good ...so OK I can live with that. (Our waitress had touted that the dressings were all homemade). Fairly quickly, the main orders came - BBQ Burger & Chicken Sandwich. I was quite happy with the taste of mine - the Girlfriend, not so much. There also seemed to be a ruckus among the staff off & on while we were there - not sure if this was what affected some of our service or whether this is just indicative of the issues plaguing the food service industry in general. Came here with a large party for a special event. The waitstaff was good, and pretty quick about getting what we needed. We were all served salads for the appetizer and we had two selections for dressing. A "green goddess" and a balsamic option. The green goddess was not my fav. It tasted like mayonnaise. So I went with the balsamic. It got the job done but I also didn't love it. The enchiladas made up for the disappointment with the dressing! So delicious. The sauce on the top had a nice little kick to it, and the food was so flavorful. I wish I could have finished it, but I was so stuffed I couldn't clear my plate. Our group then went to the bar to grab a round of drinks after dinner, but I didn't stay. It felt like a COVID fever dream in there, no masks and people crammed in there.
