We stopped by the Gurnee, IL. location after visiting Great America. The hostess was friendly & sat us right away. The 1st thing you notice is how clean the place was. The floors were great. Chairs, great. The table tops were all perfectly clean. Nice!our server was top notch! She took care if us & never made us wait. Whoever was the chef that day, all I can say was that that person was a master at their work. Our food was absolutely perfect. I haven't had a steak in a while & I was pleasantly surprised at how great they were. It's been a very long time since I've been to an Outback. I definitely will not wait that long again. New location! Nice layout. Bad bartender service. I was greeted with a scowl and an indifferent hello. The whole place was three quarter full and the bar had ample seats. However, the two working it had no sense of urgency or customer service. I got my semi cold $7 Fosters draft pretty quick then sat, watching bartenders with blinders on clean glasses and chat amongst themselves . I asked for a menu from the start, so the idea of me eating wasn't lost on either of the two. However, I was ignored for 10 min until I had to ask for my check--which was meant with another scowl. Not the best experience. We got there at 8:03pm and hour before close. We were sat at 8:08pm and didn't get a server until we asked for one at 8:25pm. I posted a couple months ago and gave this location 5 stars. We enjoyed dinner almost weekly there and then they moved to a location about 2 miles away. I will give the benefit of the doubt because they just re-opened a month-ish ago, but after two experiences we are likely not going to go back. First, the parking lot is shared with Red Lobster. Normal dining hours mean both locations are hoping and the parking is almost cut-throat. Second, even with a call-ahead, we stood for 30 minutes in an over-crowed waiting area that is surely a fire hazard. When we were finally seated, service was not great. The food wasn't right. Drinks stayed empty. It was just a rough experience all around. We gave them a second chance with a take-out order. My husband placed it on a weeknight thinking they would be less busy and the food would be better. It was not. They are just not the same at this new place and for the price, we would rather go where food is made correctly and service is solid. read more

We sent a pasta dish back because it had way too much cayenne pepper. We got a new plate of pasta swimming in milk. We stop at the Gurnee Outback Steak House this afternoon. We were seated at a table and given menus. 30 minutes went by and no waiter. I went to the desk and asked for service. 10 minutes later the manager came over and offered to take our drink orders. So I went to Outback a few days ago, and the food was amazing. I took my girl and a little bit into our meal some woman came in, and was dining with her kids and husband. Our server Eric was taking them as well and they bought outside food in. Being a server myself I understand that you cannot have outside food at most establishments, and so he tried explaining that to her because of the fact her kids were eating from some other place. And instead of taking it kindly because he said they could finish instead of throwing it away, she got defensive and started yelling causing a scene. Our server handled himself accordingly and told her to please calm down. One thing led to another and she started packing things up, and he was saying have a good night, and she called him a c*nt.
