    Red Wine Braised Short Ribs
    Nichole X.

By reviewing other's comment, I have high expectation of this place. However, the best dishes were the complimentary bread and the seafood bisque... Salad and main course were either okay or not great. Pretzel was warm, soft and fluffy in the middle, and a bit crispy/firm on the outside. One of the best pretzel bread for sure. The seafood bisque has little crab or lobster. Shrimp was tiny, but I had a handful in the bowl. Overall, flavor was good although lacking lobster or crab flavor. Salad was okay. Short rib was disappointing mostly because the meat was dry. Vegetables on the side were too crunchy. Egg roll was okay. However, when we asked to box the leftovers, they didn't pack the coleslaw or leftover dipping sauce, which made it a 2 instead of 3.

Sweet Chili Calamari (6.5/10): very very batter heavy. Squid tasted fine. The bottom of the dish was soggy and sauce heavy. Also not sure why a soggy over-sauced dish has to come with more sauce. Burrata flatbread (7/10): pretty solid flatbread. No complaints, but it also didn't wow me. Drunken shrimp (7/10): great shrimp. Way better than the shrimp in my wife's risotto. The way the bottom of the dish was covered in congealed butter seemed a bit pedestrian and borderline gross. Pretzel bread (8/10): solid bread. Came out nice and warm and fluffy on the inside. Lobster bisque (7/10): I do not want to know how much butter went into this. It was pretty good and had decent amounts of seafood. It was also a little too salty and heavy. I would stick with the cup and not the bowl. Short rib risotto (6.5/10): the red wine sauce was pretty good, but the meat was very dry. Risotto was good as well. The food was probably a 7/10 overall while the value and service were 3/10. Service was unbelievably slow. We had to wait very long amounts of time to order, get water, ask for the check, etc. It took a lot of effort to flag down our waitress as well. We spent over 2 hours on the meal, and we didn't even get our food until an hour in. The restaurant was not busy at all when we came on a Monday night. It was busy by the time we left at 8pm, but the service was equally poor throughout our stay.

Came here for Thanksgiving and was seated at the time of my reservation so I didn't have to wait much. I liked the ambiance of the restaurant as it has a modern and classy vibe. Our waitress was nice and patient. I love that the menu is wine forward; there are so many different options. I'm rating the overall experience as 3 stars because of the quality of the food. For a restaurant that's considered to be more upscale, I would expect better plating. The chicken giardiniera for example, looked like it had been microwaved since the juices were splattered all over the plate. The pie was undercooked. They even left it in the pan because the crust wasn't cooked enough to hold its form. I appreciated that the dessert was comped but quality control should matter more in a restaurant like this. Overall the experience was good but I will likely only come here for the wine and appetizers during happy hour.

I couldn't wait to take my mom to Cooper's Hawk for her birthday so she could try all of my favorites. We went on a Friday with family around 4pm, and even though we had reservations, the restaurant was pretty empty, so we were able to be seated right away. This was my first time at this location and the ambiance was warm and inviting. Since we're both huge wine lovers, she started with the wine decanter experience. We chose the Cabernet Sauvignon, my favorite, and she thoroughly enjoyed it. We started with a few appetizers to share; the House-Made Meatballs, Four Cheese Truffle Arancini, Smashed & Shaved Prime Sliders and Crispy Brussels Sprouts. For her entrée, I had her go with the Braised Short Ribs. Everything was absolutely phenomenal. The flavors were on point, and my mom couldn't stop raving about the Short Ribs and Brussels Sprouts. For her birthday treat, she was given a Dark Chocolate Truffle & a White Chocolate Truffle, which was very nice! Our server was super friendly and even though he was new, he did a wonderful job making sure our experience was enjoyable from start to finish. Cooper's Hawk never disappoints and sharing it with my mom made it even better.

First time at this location, which is close to home. Conveniently located!! Wait staff definitely needs to have better customer service. Argumentative. Not friendly. Made for a bad first impression. Please improve. Food was ok. Won't go back any time soon.

    Pesto sea bass (seasonal menu)

Great and attentive service, delicious food. I ordered the seasonal menu pesto sea bass and my friend ordered the filet with broccoli and mashed potatoes. We both enjoyed our meals and paid about $60 each for our meal, a bottle of champagne, a tip, and dessert to go. My friend redeemed her two bottles of wine club. Wine for a bottle of champagne and a $25 credit, which is why our individual totals were about $60 each. The wine club sounds like a good deal if you like to frequent this restaurant! My sea bass was cooked perfectly, it was very tender but had a nice crust to it.

Friends have been telling me about this place for days so I figured I'd give it a try as I was in town for work. Made a reservation for myself and was seated promptly upon arrival. The place is aesthetically pleasing and the wine selection is huge. Danielle/Dani - my server was very kind, attentive and made sure I was very well informed as well as answered all of my questions. She constantly came by to check on me, and make sure my drink was constantly refilled. The food was phenomenal and the portions were great. Next time I'm here I'll definitely be coming back. Thank you for the great service to close out my trip.

We dined the first time at Coopers Hawk in Gurnee. The food was great, the place is a little loud We loved their lobster bisque (not pictured)! The service was great - one thing that I strongly dislike though: do NOT offer the dessert menu while someone is still eating their main dish. Also don't remove all other plates and wine glasses - this makes it really uncomfortable!

The staff here is extremely friendly and helpful. While they don't have a separate gluten-free menu, our server was incredibly accommodating. He went out of his way to double-check that my drink was safe and brought over an allergen menu for me. A quick note for GF diners: The menu doesn't explicitly mark gluten-free items or sides, which I wish they would change just for peace of mind. However, they do have gluten-free buns and the staff is highly attentive to allergies! The Drinks & Food: The Cocktail Menu: It's full of fun options! I had the watermelon martini to start. This was definitely on the sweeter side, but not overpowering at all. The Entree: For my entree, I ordered the Chicken BLT Pesto Sandwich (on a GF Bun) with garlic mashed potatoes: Absolutely delicious. The bun held up great and the flavor combo was spot on. Overall, it was a fantastic meal with top-notch service. I'll definitely be back, but I really hope they consider labeling their menu items and sides clearly in the future.

It's very peaceful, romantic and a calm atmosphere. All of the food was delicious. The plating is so attractive! The dishes have great flavor but are healthier options. The portion sizes were perfect for what we desired. I'm not exaggerating when I say this was the best branzino I've ever had. The skin was crunchy and delicious. But the fish was not dry at all! There's nothing better than a juicy branzino fish and chef Jose nailed it! Matching with the sauce and beans was so much better than any other veggies or starch. The octopus was also cooked to perfection. The flavor and temperature was just right. Not too hot and such a great texture. We don't always order desserts but we had to see every course of the menu. We decided to go with a lava cake and it did not disappoint. It had that perfect contrast of hot and cold but it's served with gelato which gives it a nice touch of texture compared to standard ice cream. Chef Jose came out and introduced himself. We came in because we were enticed by a beef tartare that was on their menu in the past. We're hoping he brings it back on a special sometime soon. He said to give him a call and he'll try to accommodate whenever possible to make his customers happy. What an amazing restaurant. We cannot wait to come back and see what's new. Thank you for an amazing dinner and night!

Tuna tower was a fun app and we ordered lamb chops and a pasta for our mains. My only wish is that they had a slightly larger menu. I hope they add to it or do seasonal offerings because the selection is not too large and we pretty much maxed out what we'd be interested in trying in one visit. Feather Glass Wine Bar & Eatery - Vernon Hills, IL…read more Overall Rating: Highly Recommended Feather Glass is a fantastic spot that nails the wine bar experience with a beautiful, modern aesthetic and top-tier service. While the food is incredibly tasty, a few minor tweaks to the composition and seasoning of certain dishes would make the experience truly flawless. The Highlights: Drinks, Ambience, & Service * The Flights: We thoroughly enjoyed both the wine and mimosa flights. They are well-curated, beautifully presented, and a great way to sample their extensive selection. * Atmosphere: The ambience is excellent and sophisticated, making it one of the most visually appealing spots in Vernon Hills. * Service: The staff provides excellent service--attentive and professional throughout the entire meal. Food Feedback & Suggestions * Mediterranean Flatbread: Very flavorful, but the olives can make it quite salty. Adding a balsamic glaze would provide a sweet contrast to balance out the saltiness. * Beet Salad: Features fresh, high-quality ingredients. This dish would benefit from a touch more salt and a bit more acid (like a bright vinegar) in the dressing to really highlight the earthy beets. * Paneer Palak Bites: A delicious fusion idea, but the execution was slightly misleading and difficult to eat. The bread lacked the expected toasted crispiness, and because the paneer is served in a thin slice, it often slides off, leaving the sauce on the plate. * Suggestion: Try chopping the paneer into small cubes, bruschetta-style, and mixing them directly with the sauce. Layering that mixture onto a properly toasted baguette would create a much more stable and crunchy bite while keeping the great texture of the cheese. Final Verdict Despite these small suggestions, this is a great restaurant that you should definitely check out. The flavors are delicious and the overall experience is wonderful.

There were only two other tables there when we arrived. Nice ambience and decor. Everything arrived lukewarm or cold which is so odd considering there weren't a lot of people there. We waited quite a bit too so were shocked when our food wasn't hot. Paneer Palak Bites: Flavorful and yummy. A lot smaller than I thought they would be and they give you 5. My husband and I split the last one but I'll never understand why appetizers would be served in odd numbers. Especially considering how small and thin the baguettes were. Chicken Sliders: Tasty! The naan "buns" were a little thick though and had a weird greasy taste. We ended up taking the top naan off and eating it like a taco. The potatoes it came with had a lot of flavor but were tiny mushy little cubes. Almost as if they were frozen. Chicken Kabobs: Rice was cold. Some of the chicken wasn't cooked. I had to shine a light to the plate because it tasted off and it was pink. The waitress saw me do this but didn't approach us or say anything. We're not ones to complain so we just ate what we could. Honestly though, we could have went down the street to Pita Inn and had WAY better quality and warm food. The chicken at Pita Inn is always so moist and tender. This was literally pink, chewy and hard to cut. It was just terrible. Ended up spending about $160 including tip and the bottle of wine we had. For that price, you'd expect much better quality of food. Really wanted to love this place so it's very disappointing. We ended up going out for pizza and beer afterwards to end the night on a good note.

As this was just down the street from our office in the Kemper Business District, she thought this would be a cool place to hang out to recap the year for our department and she was right. The place itself is a cute house with what looks like a cool outdoor space, when the weather is nicer. Inside is a small bar when you first walk through the front door. We we seated in a small room off from the main bar, next to a lovely fireplace. We started out with charcuterie boards. Prices range from 4 pieces for $30, 6 pieces for $46 and 8 pieces for $58. The selection of meats and cheeses and were very nice, but the prices seemed steep. The cheeses and meats were as follows: Wooley Rind (Green Dirt Farm) - soft ripened sheep's milk MontAmore (Sartori) - semi firm Italian style Cheddar Goat Gouda (Central Coast Creamery) - crumbly aged goat cheese "Creamy Sexy Blue" - German triple cream cow's milk with blue veining Jamon Serrano, aged 24 months Stagberry - Elk Salami with dried blueberries Finocchiona - Tuscan style salami with fennel seed Pig & Fig Terrine - Country style pork pate with dried figs, cinnamon, ginger All were very good and had a lovely flavor. Due to the number of people nibbling, I asked for extra bread and was treated with toasted sourdough, which was very nice. For dinner, I got the Chicken Tinga Panini (Tomato-Chipotle Chicken, Queso Oaxaca, Arugula, served with Salsa Verde & Guacamole). This was a very good sandwich. I loved the idea of Chicken Tinga in a sandwich format, and it worked. I had saved half of it to take home to have for breakfast the next day, but got wrapped up in good-byes and walked out and left it. Man I was mad! My manager ordered the Roasted Beets (with whipped Feta cheese, toasted pistachios, red onion, dill and a red wine vinaigrette). The serving was huge! She loves beets and said that the dish was very good A few people got the Broccoli Cheddar soup and said it was very good. I wanted to try the oysters as I love East Coast ones, but at $20 for 6, couldn't wrap my mind around that. The wine list was pretty good and on this particular night, we got bottles for a crazy low price. My manager got a bottle of red (can't remember the name) that was $75, but she got it for half price. Same for me for a lovely bottle of sparkling rose. The hostess had a list of wines on her tablet that she showed us as well that were 50% off. The location is quite a drive from Chicago, but the times I have to go to Lake Zurich for team meetings, I may just stop in to camp out for eats and drinks while waiting for my Uber and rush hour traffic to die out.
