I didn't want to give any stars but unfortunately I did so my review would be posted. Today is Valentine's Day and they had the audacity to serve me this Bottom of the Barrel Food, This Supposed to be BLOOMING ONION looks like it was scraped out of the bottom of a Fryer . My salad had old lettuce and baked potatoes were hard. Im so sick to my stomach. I can't believe the cook looked at this bs and thought it was ok to serve. like wtf. I'm so disgusted with this whole situation. Also, the manager didn't make it any better for the time and money wasted making 2 trips to their store. Never again MERIDIAN

We had Felix's Special--Shrimp Remoulade Salad with a grilled pimento cheese and applewood smoked bacon sandwich on sourdough. Both were very good: fresh shrimp, and a well-toasted sandwich with smoky bacon and melted pimento cheese. Service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was pleasant. A solid stop if you're passing through Meridian.

Since 1870, Weidmann's has welcomed everyone from railroad workers and weary travelers to soldiers and hometown heroes, earning its place in Mississippi's history. Founded by Swiss immigrant Felix Weidmann, the restaurant opened during Meridian's rise as one of the South's busiest railroad crossroads. During World War I, the restaurant temporarily relocated to Hattiesburg to help feed the thousands of soldiers training at nearby Camp Shelby. One of its quirkiest traditions is the complimentary peanut butter and crackers brought to every table. During World War II, butter rationing led the restaurant to serve peanut butter and crackers instead. Customers loved it so much that the tradition continues more than 80 years later. In 1935, when brothers Al and Fred Key took to the skies in their airplane, Ole Miss, they weren't just chasing a world record--they were trying to save Meridian's airport from closing during the Great Depression. They spent an unbelievable 653 hours and 34 minutes--more than 27 days--without landing. They stayed aloft by pioneering air-to-air refueling techniques. Their record stood until astronauts aboard Skylab surpassed the duration in space in 1973. One of the celebrations honoring their historic flight took place right here at Weidmann's, forever connecting the restaurant to one of aviation's greatest achievements. I ordered the shrimp and grits, and they were outstanding. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, the grits were creamy and full of flavor, and every bite tasted fresh and homemade. Of course, you can't leave without trying their famous peanut butter and crackers--a tradition that's become part of the restaurant's history. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was warm and full of character, and you can tell they take pride in preserving this historic landmark. If you appreciate great Southern food and places with a story to tell, Weidmann's is absolutely worth the stop.

After looking at the website and photos, I began to wonder if we were dressed nicely enough! We made a 5:00 reservation (online), walked in at 5:02, and were immediately greeted with such a warm welcome that we instantly felt welcome. Our server recommended the pineapple lemon drop--absolutely delicious! The house salad with the warm bacon dressing was magical, and my husband loved the peppercorn ranch. Both ribeyes were cooked to perfection, the green beans were fresh (definitely not from a can!), and the mushrooms were packed with flavor. As we were leaving, we stopped to take a picture and learned that the friendly young woman who had welcomed and served us was actually the owner, Semmes. Her father purchased the restaurant in 1990, and after his passing in 2024, she proudly took over the family business. Watching her interact with every guest, it was clear she genuinely loves what she does. She was a ray of sunshine to everyone who walked through the door. I also loved seeing her dad's antique car parked outside--a sweet tribute to his legacy. If you're from the Meridian area or just passing through on I-20, do yourself a favor and stop here. It needs not a long review at all because this can be reviewed easily: Food: A+ Ambience: A+ Experience: A+ Service: A+ Every server was attentive and wonderfully welcoming, nice, and accommodating. I want people to know about this restaurant, so they make lots of money and stay here for a long time. I also want it to be just like it was tonight when I was there - Light crowd, easy going, relaxing. You can let your guard down in this place. And I just loved it. I went for the basics on my first try- Steak, baked potato, broccoli, salad. Let's focus on that steak - Petit Filet, 8oz, medium. Easily one of the best steaks I have ever had. Top 3. Great job. Well done. Keep up the good work. And may I say, Kat was a pleasure to have as a server. Thank you, Kat. And thank you as well, owner. Very good.
