Greetings fellow Yelpers. A recent experience at Outback Steakhouse made me lose all of my hope and joy in the world. My friends and I were ravenous, starving, even. And I, being the logical, wise, smart human being that I am suggested Texas Roadhouse. We get to Texas Roadhouse and man oh man it was packed full of people also ravenous for a quality slice of meat. My friends and I, lacking in patience and our stomachs getting the rumblies, settled for Outback. We get there and so many tables were open, and yet, we still had to wait. My ravenousness was becoming worse and worse: a monster about to erupt out of my stomach. We order appetizers: cheesy fries, and some blooming onion thing. That was probably the only satisfactory thing that I ate, and I only had one bite of each. We then each ordered burgers, different burgers, emphasis on DIFFERENT. We get them and they're the same. But wait, it gets worse. Where are the pickles on our burger? Oh! They're still in the process of becoming a pickle because we got freaking cucumbers on our BURGER. I asked for pickles on the side, where were they? I didn't even get freaking cucumbers. The absolute discrimination. Only the white man I was with got a singular cucumber. I'm not calling Outback racist but I'm not not saying it. I'm sorry, didn't know I asked for a salad... Not only that, but the burger was sauceless. Absolutely freaking sauceless. Dry. Sad. The waiter was nice though, and he brought us bread so that's cool. We paid $90 for a couple of salad burgers. Am I mad? No. Just disappointed. I can now say confidently that I have never felt joy in an Outback Steakhouse, and I never will. I can never go back to this unholy hell of sauceless, salad burgers. I can't say I've lost hope in the world because of this, but I am extremely devasted. Will I ever recover? Will I ever feel joy in an Outback Steakhouse? Did Outback Steakhouse sin so greatly against God that they simply cannot make good food? These are questions that only God can answer. The world may never know. Thank you, and blessings. read more

Outback is one of those surprisingly good chains depending on what you order. Lemme give you the breakdown of what I get/got for a great experience. 1st, takeout. The biggest complaint about this place seems to be the waiters. While I personally have never had an issue here, avoid the potential by taking advantage of Outback's excellent curbside service. Start with a salad. Homemade crutons (Nummers) and cheese make excellent additions to the garden salad. I'm not much of a fan of onion rings, so I usually skip the famous Bloomin' Onion and get the Aussie fries. These are heart stoppingly good, so skip 'em if your on a diet. If your saying to Hell with it: fries, bacon, cheese, and a ranch type dressing. To die for. I usually get a burger or chicken, but for the first time I got a steak. It's not like the best one I've ever eaten or anything, but it was quite delish. For dessert, the cheesecake. You can choose from strawberry, raspberry and caramel toppings. All choices are great. Outback is a good, solid meal. Bit pricey, but overall a place I frequent. read more

Came in for dessert and was not the best experience. Took about 12-15 mins just to have someone come to the table and take our drink order. It wasn't busy and everyone had walked by us aboUt twice each. Once we got the food no one came back until we asked for the check. Just not a very happy experience when there was about three tables in the dinning room area. read more

Holy moly what happened here? We used to frequently with my family at dinner and it was great. We went for lunch Saturday and everything sucked. The crab cakes were cold, the steak was tough and the shrimp was almost raw. One manager walked around inquiring about meals.. she seemed like she was in a fog. Never going back again. We ate at the Outback last night, where they had inside seating. It looked like everything was neat and clean, which I appreciated. I ordered the Sirloin, which was undercooked. I did sent it back. It had a funny taste to it, but I wasn't going to send it back again. The mashed potatoes were very salty. They ran out of bread, which was disappointing since the Outback has delicious bread. They have a limited menu due to the COVID, which was explained to us when we tried to order or usual meals. The service was very good. read more

Would not have come here if we didn't have a gift card. Over the last few years the prices have gone up and the quality and taste of the food has gone down. Service has been all over the place. Tonight the hostess snapped at us and yelled to us as we were walked to our table, which started the night off on a great note. Our server was very nice but of course forgot EVERY request we had - not a lot, just refills or sauces. To spend $30 on a steak it really does not need to be covered and "seared". They can't cook anything at the temperature requested so you just hope for the best. After two tries to finish this steak I had to toss it. So gross. Go anywhere else. Sitting at the bar at first seems like a good idea to stay away from the screaming families, however the bartenders will ignore you the entire time and drinks are a joke. Can't comment on the food since no one bothered to take our order after sitting at our table for half an hour. At first I let it go because I figured they were busy but at the 20 minute waiting mark a family was seated next to us and a server came over and took their drink order after like a minute, while my party and I were still waiting for someone to take a drink or food order. I gave it another ten minutes and left. There were at least three workers at the front who saw us get up and leave but not a single person bothered to ask why we were leaving. They obviously didn't care and I probably wasn't missing out on much anyways. read more

I have to tell you that the Outback steakhouse in Peabody is a wonderful place to eat and bring your family. Not only is the service great, and prices are reasonable, but the food is delicious! The manager always comes up to us and walks around the restaurant making sure the customers are happy! This just shows that they do care about what their customers think. You are greeted at the front door as you walk in and as you leave. The place is very clean and food fresh and delicious! You won't be disappointed, it's easily our favorite place to eat! read more

As a former Outback Peabody regular from 1995 - early 2000's I have to say that this place has changed greatly. Back when I was an Outback regular I was there 2-3 times a week, the drinks were stronger, the bartenders and servers were nicer and the portions and food was much better. Over time the portions have shrunk and the prices have gone the other way. I have to say you no longer get the same bang for your buck at the Outback. Years ago it was fun to sit at the bar and watch Barry, Matty, Fitzy, and Sammy serve the drinks up. They always poured heavily and made the experience great. I spent many nights with them having fun for hours. If I was there with my GF or the bar was too packed I also sat in the regular part of the restaurant or the tables immediately surrounding the bar. The service from the waiters/waitresses was also always great. I remember one of my favorites was a younger college aged super funny guy named Neil. I recently made my first trip back to the old Outback in probably almost 10 years and I hardly recognized the place as a lot has changed with the décor, menu and the overall experience. Even the once great service from people like Neil and Matty is a thing of the past. Susie was my waitress and she just looked like she didn't care about her job. We had to ask several times for our drinks, our salads came out about 5 minutes before our entrees arrived and she was non-existent for most of the meal. Overall Outback you have slowly gone downhill and my last experience here just proves it. read more

Generally my opinion of Outback is aligned with those of Paul S, Ian C and Phat B below. But, I love my stepdad, he loves prime rib and my mom was paying, so I spent my Saturday night in a chain restaurant I usually go to great lengths to avoid--Outback Steakhouse. I had been here once before and remember the food as boring, the atmosphere as jarring and the service as lacking. You can't make a reservation but you can call ahead and put your name down on the waiting list for a specific time. We got there and were told we would only have to wait thirty minutes maximum. Five seats were magically available at the bar all together, so we settled in. Right after we got served our drinks, our buzzer buzzed. Well! We thought, that was fast. But when we went to the hostess desk, it turned out the table we were buzzed for hadn't actually left--in fact they hadn't even paid. So we went from sitting comfortably at the bar (our seats were immediately swooped upon as soon as we got up) to standing awkwardly in the entrance area, now encumbered with drinks. We couldn't leave, either, because our buzzer was gone. Every few minutes the hostess would manically assure us that we'd be seated very soon. This was disconcerting as we weren't acting huffy about it--in fact we were laughing and joking with everyone else waiting in the crowded area, so she just came off as incompetent and harried. We did finally get seated about twenty minutes later, so to be fair, the original estimation of our wait time was completely accurate. Our waitress was very friendly, although I noticed she and everyone else were just obsessively apologetic. When I would go to the bathroom the busboys and food runners would scamper out of my way and apologize profusely for blocking my path. But they weren't blocking my path, and I certainly defer to the people carrying loads of heavy plates and glasses. It makes me wonder what kind of tyrant customers come in to this place that every single person is terrified of upsetting them. We did get the bloomin' onion. Yep, and it was good, I have to admit. I had a strange hankering for fish and got the ahi tuna chopped salad. Everyone else got a steak of some kind with salad and a potato. When their starter salads came out, they were *enormous.* They were like a meal in and of themselves. I find these huge plates of food incredibly distasteful. And my family concurred that by the time the main course came out, they were already full. Oddly, my tuna was delicious. It was perfect. But three out of the four steaks were either just mediocre or, extra-disappointingly, heinous in the case of my step-dad's coveted ribeye. God, that thing was absolutely disgusting. My mom's filet mignon, though, was exceedingly tasty. Just FYI, if it's your birthday, you get a free sundae. So that was nice. The atmosphere was still as annoying as I remembered. The acoustics are terrible, so that I could barely hear my parents across the table but could perfectly hear the conversation of a table kitty corner to us. There is a lamp that hangs way down low and makes the table quite bright but blinds you from being able to see the people across from you. So basically, I had to struggle to hear and see my parents (if this is what you crave, go here. But I quite like my parents, so it was a negative). Overall - two stars for free birthday treats, a surprisingly good fish option, and quite good prices for an insanely enormous amount of food. But I can't give more than that, because of the extreme sadness of all the employees, the awkward atmosphere, and the sub-par steak in a *steakhouse.* read more

Table service is excellent, hostesses.. not so much. Don't really seem like they want to be working. Had George as our server for lunch. Attentive, helpful, not over the top or bothersome. Kept up with our refills and checked on us to see how everything was. Great lunch prices and portions. Steaks were cooked absolutely perfect! Restaurant is a pretty good size, nice and cool with the AC on the right temperature for a hot summer day. Best wedge salad ever. They put blue cheese dressing and a balsamic glaze on it! Baked Sweet Potato.. one of the best sides there. Topped with a honey cinnamon butter. Mmmm. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Molasses bread is served warm with whipped butter. Best option is definitely the steak and shrimp combo. You can't beat a good surf & turf! Usually get shrimp on the barbie, but tried the coconut shrimp instead. Delicious! Ask for the spicy A1 sauce if you like to have steak sauce with your meat. read more

My wife and I decided to go out to eat here on Friday Night. Now we did book our spot on the wait list on their web site which I didn't notice it do anything. We got there ahead of our time and it seemed regular guest were getting seated before us even thou we had our name on the list. However the food was just bland and had no taste at all. Our blooming onion was very burnt and at the same time the steak didn't have any flavor. I did mention to the restaurant about our experience and they did refund us our dinner which I thought was nice. But still it will have to wait and see if it will be worth it a second time. read more

I was here about a week ago with my sister, we came for lunch and it was so good! We started off with the wings (my favorite) and they were amazing! Then for our main course I got the steak tacos and a caesar salad. The steak tacos were honestly the best tacos I've ever had! What a disappointment this restaurant was! My wife and I went with our children for our first visit - and likely the last - the other day....The kids order...two kids plates of ribs, were decent...my wife's ahi tuna salad passable...However, my order of a sirloin steak with a diablo sauce was horrific....took 2 bites...after trying to chew enough that I would not choke, I left 80% of it on the plate. . The waitress, who was clearly in a rush to get somewhere else, asked me if I wanted to take it home...when I said I could not even eat it here it was so hard...her response was "okay...let me get your bill"! Not a great reflection on the food quality or the staff's quality. I just thought that if you say steakhouse in your name....you should get that one right.... We were at this restaurant tonight to celebrate our sons birthday. He choses to go there ( mainly because he loves the Blooming Onion). We all go........No, not there. It was horrible last time. Last time they brought the steaks out several minutes before the sides. Was just a steak on a plate. By the time the sides came out (surprisingly not hot), the steaks were cold. This time, the waitress said have a backup because we are out of a lot of things. They were out of several cuts of meat, Marsala sauce for the Filet, and mashed potatoes. What.......steak and potatoes go together don't they. She did pop by and say with excitement that the potatoes were ready and cooked. This is an unacceptable way to run a small restaurant let alone a large chain restaurant. This was not a very relaxing way to celebrate our sons birthday. My husband, myself and 4 year old went for dinner tonight. Food was excellent but the service was even better. Matty, out server went above and beyond! Knew to offer our 4 year olds order to go right in (as needed to keep her happy). Brought me 2 dressing options as I was indecisive and was on top of all our needs with a happy attitude. It had us leaving with a "wow!". 5 minutes later my husband was back in the kitchen with him fishing the artwork our daughter was crying to take home after reaching the car. Just super kind! We come here a lot and are generally happy. It's not going to be perfect every time and that's life. I will say that we placed an order for takeout and got home to realize they missed an item we ordered. We called and received a gift card for more than how much the item cost which was great! We also just went a week ago and I ordered the no rules parmasean pasta. It was very spicy for my taste and wasn't expecting it to be spicy. I wasn't going to complain because I still ate it. The server came by and my 4 year old asked her why it was so spicy. Good old kids lol. I'm glad he did say something though. The server asked if I'd like anything else and I assured her it was fine and I'd eat it. I should preface this by saying that I typically refuse to eat at chain restaurants. As far as these big chains go, this was entirely typical. We sat at the bar late on a Thursday night. Bar tenders were nice and attentive. We started with coconut shrimp, 8 of them. They were big and coated in an impressive amount of fried dough. They were also covered in fried coconut, but it tasted more like fried than coconut. They were bland, boring, and not worth half the calories they had. The dipping sauce was good. I got a chipped bbq chicken salad. Asked for dressing on the side and they also put bbq sauce on the side. That was nice - they didn't mess it up, which was a nice surprise. Basically it was bland and completely unimpressive. Very much like most of the chain restaurant salads. Had the ingredients claimed in a decent ratio on a big plate of iceberg lettuce mix. Very little nutritional value. My girlfriend got the fish tacos, which were easily the best part. They were nicely cooked and with a little hot sauce had some good flavor. They were the only part of the meal where the flavor wasn't from a sauce or dressing. What we didn't partake in which sounded pretty good were the cheap bar drinks - though with stuff like the margaritas and sangrias, my guess is they're all pre-measured, weak, and even further weakened by lots of ice read more

Wow there's a lot of animosity towards this outback... I've been there probably 10 times and have never had a bad experience that I can think of. In fact every time I've eaten there I've left the place feeling pretty damn satisfied. Yeah, you'll probably pay up to 40 bucks for like 2 people (including tip), that's if you don't get alcoholic drinks, which I never get here. I honestly go here for the food. To me, there is nothing in this world that can match the tastiness of a Bloomin' Onion. Also, they just made it a lot cooler. They added way more seating in the waiting area, so you're not just standing there like a jackass wishing your buzzer would go off. They also added a big glass jug of water w/ lemons in it to drink while your waiting, and waitresses go around giving free samples of Bloomin Onion... so.... that was definitely an upgrade. I must say I have had some shitty waiters/waitresses here. TRUE STORY * I went here with a friend and he recognized our waiter as "some guy who I smoked a bunch of crack with", then again with another friend who recognized our waitress as "some chick he used to get drunk with". Which probably doesn't say much about the character of people I'm spending my time with, but that's a completely different topic all-together. Another thing, the name's of the items on the menu's really bother me. I think this place should drop the outback and just be called "steak house". it'd be a lot less pretentious. Kookaburra wings? You really think I'm going to SAY "I'll have the Kookaburra wings." (which suck by the way, i'm pretty sure Kookaburra is an Australian term for pathetic, uninspired, not spicy in the least bit Buffalo wings) Anyway... despite the sketchy waiters, and the in-your-face novelty of being "In Australia"? (seriously... its the MEN's room and the WOMEN'S room... but you Outback, have cleverly marked your bathroom doors Sheila's and Blokes....fools. i guarantee you some little kid has gone into the wrong bathroom not understanding what the hell that shit means) ....With all that said, I like this place.. because, well, I love there steaks. They really hit home for me. To me they are underrated. Bland? Overseasoned? ha! try... perfectly balanced. distinct spices that are so uniquely Outback you just can't get a steak/massive fried onion like that anywhere else... except maybe Franks Steakhouse in Cambridge, but I live on the North Shore so thats a hike. oh yeah ....It's better than Texas Roadhouse. read more

We went here for a steak for my boyfriend. However, I am a vegetarian & I was very disappointed that they don't have anything for vegetarians. I had to order individual sides at $3,$4 & $5 each. I got a baked potato, a very small portion of broccoli, and a very small salad for a total of $12...and I wasn't full. As a side note I got their gingerbread martini which was fabulous!! My boyfriend got a bone rib eye that he loved. The reason for 3 stars is I would like them to offer a vegetarian plate with full size portions. read more

Stopped in for lunch I haven't been to an Outback in years. Had the tenderloin tips, wow they were amazing. Great value for sure. I sat the bar, the bartender Stan was pretty much awesome. Great personality and makes the perfect martini. I will be back for sure. read more

One of the best Outbacks around. The service here is much nicer than in the Medford location and the food was cooked exactly as ordered. It's a chain, however, and the selection is limited. Good place to go for a casual date or for drinks with the girls, not a good place to take anyone you really want to impress. read more

Okay first and foremost I usually prefer to support local but the reality is that the team team that works here IS local and that is what is most amazing! I specifically appreciate Marissa(server) and Rebecca(bartender). They remember me, cater to me and make me feel special! This makes them so unique in this type of Large chain establishment! Went to Outback in Peabody as a party of 9. The waitress was excellent - Kelly. Of the 9 of us, 5 had steaks. 2 of the 5 steaks were cooked incorrectly. One person ordered medium well and was served a steak that was more than well done. Se decided to eat it (or part of it) as she stated "I like to eat with the other people at the table" My 14oz. strip steak ordered medium rare was delivered medium to medium-well. It took several minutes to find a manager to get this corrected. He did not apologize, just offered something else or a new steak. I opted for a new steak. After some time he returned with my plate. The loaded baked potato that was orginally delivered to me was still on the plate - looked like it spent the last 10+ minutes under the heat lamp. The steak that they provided was RAW. It was just barely seared on the outside and not cooked at all on the inside. Both unacceptable and possibly a health hazard. Manager just asked if I wanted something else. I stopped to get myself something to eat on the way home. The only reason they get even one star is due to the graciousness of the waitress read more

I've been a fan of Outback for over a decade, but I got food poisoning after eating at this location. My husband got the ribeye which was probably the fattiest piece they had in their inventory. More than half of his plate was filled with fat. I liked Outback a lot better when they had just opened up -- the menu and service was so much better. I honestly haven't been impressed with the way they've turned out judging from my last two visits. Not enough to make me come back after spending long hours in the bathroom. read more

I'm not one for fast food chains or large restaurant chains either, but I have to write this review because of the excellent food and service my family received yesterday evening. My grand kids were leaving for camp and we have a tradition of taking them out for dinner prior to them departing for the summer. The kids enjoy prime rib (I know, expensive tastes, lol). They only get it during this traditional dinner. At any rate we went to the Outback in Peabody, MA., and we're floored by the friendly attentive waitress. The food we ordered came in a timely manner, hot and delicious. The meat was tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The veggies were cooked fresh and not droopy from overcooking. The prices were much lower than steak houses known for their upper crust attitude and prices. My wife, kids and I were very pleased and would definitely eat there again. My steak was so overcooked it felt like I was legit chewing gum. Gave most of it to the dog later. He liked it. The Patriots were on, but if you're sitting in the dining room, the TV is blocked by some kind of decorative panels.. one waitress walking by, stopped to badmouth the people at the bar for "getting too excited" at the game as my boyfriend was straining his neck to try to see it over the dumb panels.
