Definitely a 1 VERY DISAPPOINTED !!! Been looking so forward to going to your restaurant since I heard there was a Hot Pot restaurant in Peabody. Sadly I've tried 2 times to dine with you on 2 different days. This last time you state on your website that you open at 4:00 on Thursday 7/10. We arrive at 4:10, to fine by your sign on the door saying that you open at 5:00 on Thursdays. We think we'll grab a drink and come back. We come back again and your doors are locked. Again very disappointed in your lack of customer service. Why don't let customers in on your secret hours ? Since we've tried 2 different times to visit you I don't think you warrant a 3rd try no matter how much I love a good hot pot. It would be nice to hear an excuse or any response from you but I feel I should post and write a "review" of the lack of experience I've had. read more

Customer service was decent, crew was familiar with their teas and food options. Food was okay, meat was fairly fresh, the soup stock was watery and quite different from their chinese counterparts. Very expensive for what you get, may be a good entry point for people new to hotpot, but you'd be better off going somewhere closer to chinatown for something richer in flavor. The speakeasy style hidden entrance, ambiance, and presentation are high points of the experience, and most memorable. read more

Was pretty excited to visit since this is the first north shore hot pot place near me but this just aint it. Was easily the worst value hot pot i've had, found dirt on the bok choy, got a potato slice with a rotten bit on it and the choice to roll up the meat is bizarre since it ends up cooking unevenly in the broth. The green monster matcha drink tasted awful, super sour and bitter. Still, it delivered on the hot pot experience but I dont think i'll be coming back. Ambiance was nice but I really wish the lights were brighter as it was hard to judge if some items were cooked or not. Ended up eating a few items early thinking they looked cooked. Service was good, no complaints. Seating was crowded and I ended up bumping into the people behind us a few times. Really just made me want to invest in a hot pot setup for home since I could have bought a hotpot, electric plate and double the meat for the same price as the meal we had. A lot of the complaints others had back in March/April are still true now in July. read more

My family and I truly enjoyed our visit to Pots. The hot pot was very good. We got the spicy broth and the tomato broth. The spicy had lots of great layered flavor and the tomato broth had a hearty warmth to it. I can't Rave as much about the dumplings. The soup dumplings were the same as ones you buy a Trader Joe's. Their other dumplings also appear to be frozen save your money skip the dumplings stick to the hot pot. I saw some reviews saying "the decor was over the top," I disagree. I like their style. It's a little kitch-ey but then, so am I. The wait staff was very pleasant and attentive. The food quality of the hot pot was beyond reproach. The dumpling food quality had a bit of a frozen food feel to it. All in all, I recommend this business and had fun and went home with a full belly! read more

From the moment you walk into the small, unassuming entranceway that hides the restaurant behind a speakeasy doorway, you are transported to an intimate setting, with seating for about 35. The cozy, inviting Chinese-themed decor barely hints at the first-class hot pot experience that awaits. There are so many combinations to consider from the menu -- you choose from four broths (with the option to split the pot with two), a variety of heaping portions of fresh vegetables, seafood, or meat platters, and options for noodles and rice to stir into the broth. Try the chicken coconut curry broth--you'll love the light buttery flavor it brings. And then there are the incredible homemade dumplings. We had the spicy pork dumplings, and they were fantastic--plump and tasty with a spicy sauce that doubled as a great dipping sauce. There is a bar where you can create your own dipping sauces with unique flavor combinations. Speaking of bars, there's a full bar with a great variety of house specials. We had the Mai Tais and they were fragrant concoctions with hints of orange and hibiscus. The service is uber-friendly (we met the owner who mixed us some of his favorite dipping sauces)) and attentive to ensuring the perpetual level of broth simmering away. There are free refills! If you're looking for a top-notch hot pot experience on the North Shore, you've just found it. A trip to Pots in Peabody will make for a great dining experience. We can't wait to go back. read more

We had a great time full of yummy food despite never having Hot pot before. We had tons of fun dunking in the different veggies and the complementary tea was very nice. Our waiter Luciano was great and the service overall was very good. We loved the vibes of this place and left happy. If you're looking for an aesthetically pleasing place to have dinner and you've never had hot pot before, this might be a good spot for you to check out. If you know your hot pot, this is probably not the spot for you. While they call themselves authentic Chinese hot pot, it's a big overstatement. Meat portions were okay but not prepared/cut or served correctly (not frozen, not shaved, and clumped together in such a way that they did not cook well), the vegetable portions were sparse and very stingy (most hot pot places would give you about 3x the portion of vegetables), the rice was cooked poorly, broth was bullion with mushrooms scattered in, and the separate charge for a sauce bar (while not expensive) was frustrating when the options were not awesome or particularly authentic. I definitely don't recommend the marinated beef-- it was much too thick for hot pot use, which made cooking and eating very difficult. Like I said, if you're a hot pot newbie and want to have a fun experience that's accessible to white palates, you might have a really nice time. But I'd not recommend you take your Chinese friends here. read more

TLDR - This place is just trying to be cute.. if you're used to having hot pot literally anywhere else then this place ain't it. But if you're a hot pot first timer and want to give it a try, be mindful that you're probably getting swindled for the "experience". Let's start with the highs.. -Good quality meat and tasty broths -Great atmosphere and clean (granted they just opened) Lows.. -Charges an arm and a leg. Be prepared to pay $3 for your dipping sauce when most hot pot places will give you all the sauce you want. There's no reason for them to charge $4 for potatoes and only give you a diced up HALF of ONE potato. We got THREE individual sticks of watercress.. you can get one whole bunch for $1 at HMart. Ya could've at least stuffed the tiny lil basket with watercress.. About 12 individual leaves of bok choy give or take (yes I counted). That is probably about 3 whole bok choys if I had to guess, for $4! To put in perspective.. a whole bag containing about 15 WHOLE bok choys cost $3. -Our broth was a bit less than half full at the start and no one asked to fill it until the very end of the meal when we had finished all of our meats & veggies. If you're charging $6 for broth then please fill that pot. The premade broth mix that costs the same price can make a few gallons of broth. It's just hot water -Servers did a good job explaining what hot pot was at the beginning but literally paid no attention after we got our food until we flagged them. -Seats are jammed packed against one another. read more

If you are looking for authentic Asian Hotpot this is not that place. It is what I would call Americanized hotpot. What I did like was the speakeasy type of entrance with a hidden door that leads to the dining room and All the staff were super nice and friendly. The food itself was fresh and served in nice trays with id tags and tongs.Unfortunately the boneless chicken was served on a piece of slate and when passed around the table the raw juices slid off . Luckily not onto someone's food which could possible make someone sick.. It's pretty but not functional or safe. What I didn't like was that the food items were placed on the outside end of the table making it difficult for everyone at the table to get items without constantly having to bother the diners sitting on the outside. The tables were small and we felt very crammed. There wasn't even enough room for you to use the plate and bowl they provide you separately. When you eat hotpot you need room so you can manipulate everything with ease and enjoy yourself. The tables themselves have four legs and the chairs they use make it tough to fit in without either hitting the leg or if you are big or tall you would have to straddle the leg to have enough room and that is never a fun experience If you sat in the seat by the wall and there were customers at the table behind you you would not be able to get out without disturbing everyone. So forget about using the sauce bar they have if that's the case or even go to the restroom. . The sauce bar by the way is where you make dipping sauces for your food with recipe ingredients written out behind the bar. if you don't know what ratios of the ingredients to use you end up with some bad tasting sauce which is what happened to me. . It's a cool idea but as a diner I would prefer to go up and select some professionally prepared sauces that would enhance my food not make my own. . You pay to use the sauce bar so making a bad tasting one Is a waste of money. You don't even get soy sauce on your table so if you asked for some I not sure if you would be charged for it since they did have it at the sauce bar. As far as the broths go We got a mushroom and a spicy broth. The mushroom broth had lots of mushrooms in it but it had no real depth of flavor. It tasted like water. The spicy one had a nice kick to it and if you like spice I recommend that one, but they should have strained it a bit before serving it because after you pulled your cooked food out you occasionally had hidden white peppercorns and other spices in it that were not pleasant to bite into. At this time they do not have a liquor license but I believe that is in the works. Overall it's nice to see a new restaurant popping up in Peabody but I think they have a few kinks to work out. First time this weekend. loved it, great vibe being sort of hidden away. Our waitress was fantastic, can't remember her name but young, dark hair. We were novices but quickly realized what we can do on our subsequent visits. if you order potatoes, they take time to cook so you'll have then towards the end. We had the spicy broth which was indeed spicy, be careful of the spices they throw it too, you might get a hot surprise. They act like they are professional when it comes to hot pot! The waiter really needs to go to Chinatown and learn what the actual hot pot is before working here!! The broth is fake. The sauce is 3 dollars per person. The sauce is disgusting! Cilantro and scallions are out, and the waiter is not refilling it. The claims are black, and the waiter is like, "Ah, um well!" I am asian and I love hot pot to death! This is the worst!!! Don't let the dumpling net scam you and the environment fool you!! Don't waste your money at the fake hot pot restaurant!!!! Last night we went to a Bonsai Bar event in Peabody at the Granite Coast Brewing. We got there early and decided to have dinner. . .and to our surpise and delight we discovered this "hidden gem", the Pots Restaurant, a speakeasy style tea, dumpling and hot pot "hole in the wall". The food was great and we had a great evening. This restaurant has a partner restaurant we plan to try next! Fun dining experience that went beyond just good food. The seafood options were great but a lot of the meats just looked and tasted like rolled up deli meats. I will start off by saying that the server we had was excellent. As far as the place though, I just wasn't impressed. Its very expensive in my opinion. For two of us it was over 170$ and that was with no alcohol because they couldn't serve it yet. I also do not like that you order through toast tab on your phone and have to pay and tip before you get any food or much service. I love hot pot so was very excited to have one on the north shore but there are things missing from the experience and the menu. Never been to hot pot without Napa cabbage which I found very strange and one of my favorite things to cook in the broths. We had half spicy broth and half tomato and I just was not impressed by either of them and look out on the spicy broth because it is definitely extremely hot. The sauce buffet just doesn't work well for this place either plus, they charge you 3$ for it and none of the sauces are any good in my opinion. Perhaps they will eventually work out the kinks of being a new establishment but all in all not a very good experience and I probably will not return. read more
