They don't exactly do reservations, but they do call ahead seating, which gives you a shorter wait (about 15 mins) than just walking in. I called ahead and set a time for 6:45, and they told me that if we came in then, we would be seated by 7. We were early and came in at 6:20, and we were seated by 6:30. However, it wasn't as crowded as usual at that time. One server came by and took our orders for drinks (our main server was on break). He came back in a couple minutes and set down some complimentary bread and butter for us. We put in our orders around 6:35, and we got our food at 7. I got the BBQ mixed grill, which includes BBQ ribs, BBQ chicken, coconut shrimp, and fries for about $16. The ribs and chicken were a little on the dry side, the chicken more than the ribs. There was also barely enough BBQ sauce on them. There was only a small, thin layer of sauce that covered them just enough, but not so that there was sauce spilling onto the plate and you could dip the meats into more sauce for extra wetness. I felt like they missed parts of the shell of my shrimp, and the crust would just peel completely off the shrimp once I took a bite into it. My dad got the ahi salad, and they drenched the salad in sauce. There was a pool of dressing at the bottom of the plate. I do like their drinks, however, but only because I like to not taste any alcohol in my drinks. Some people don't like that, but if you like not tasting alcohol in your alcoholic drinks (cocktails), I recommend coming here. Despite the okay food, our main server Jeff (as well as the first server) gave us very good service, though. At first they forgot one thing that we ordered, and our first server was quick to check up on the kitchen to make sure that it wasn't missed. Jeff came in and he kept checking once in a while to see if we had everything that we needed or if we needed anything else, and made sure that our waters were filled. My brother got something that included unlimited shrimp, and he was prompt in refilling the shrimp plate. He asked us if we wanted more bread and butter as well, even towards the end. He was very friendly and really bumped up the experience for us here. read more

We had a great experience at this location. From the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted with smiles by the manager, Ryan and his hostess staff. We sat in the bar with a large group and Amanda made us feel welcome and took excellent care of our large group. The food and drinks were amazing! In my opinion Outback has gone downhill. Came on weekend day around 4pm. Our server had approximately 10 tables and was very busy, which in my mind shows that a manager isn't up to the task. I don't blame server, But, as a server they should not be bringing out incomplete or foul plates. I ordered a side of asparagus. The $5.99 got me 5 brown, flaccid, overcooked spears, totally inedible. I didn't want to make a fuss, but the whole table's looked like this. It shouldn't have been plated- shame on the "cook". It shouldn't have been served,- shame on the server. I should've taken my first answered question as a hint; Q: "Do you have ice cold beer?" A: "Actually, our cooler is broken.". Brought my family for Mother's Day to the Outback Steakhouse in Poway and we were blown away by the professional and friendly service from the hostess to our phenomenal server, Jocelyn, to the manager - who took time away from his busy schedule to great us and ask how our meal was. Came here when my hubby was nostalgic for Outback, his go to in his college days. Dining room wait was over 30 minutes, but, we were told it was seat yourself in the bar area which had very comfy booths as well as the counter and high boy tables. We both did the Sirloin special (9 oz sirloin) which comes with salad and a side. I did the Blue Cheese crumb topping upgrade - yummy for a different taste, though next time I'll do the regular seasoning. I recommend the Blue cheese pecan salad (used to be bigger, but hey, it's still their best salad!) and the green beans on the side. All in all, pretty good! No, it's not to die for, but solidly good value and cooked to taste. Our son ordered a kids burger, we upgraded to the Sweet Potato with marshmallows for $0.99, which was worth it. The only thing is he claimed it was "spicy" - which it wasn't. I suspect the grilled burger had more smoky flavor than he was used to. It was a good burger, but something to keep in mind if your little one is at all picky. The patio looked wonderful. The interior can get so dark that next time, I think we'll sit al fresco and enjoy the sunset. read more

This Outback and the one in San Marcos has really gone down hill. The only reason we gave the Poway location another try was because we had gift cards and hoped that it would be better now that the pandemic has slowed down. Again the food was mediocre, the porterhouse steak my husband had was tough and the meal just didn't look appetizing at all. To top it off we were seated at one of the tables that had drop sides. Food was packed in the cracks. The chair I sat on was very wobbly and I think if a bigger person were to sit in it it may have broken. We could see that our server was a little embarrassed and hopefully he took the issues to the manager. We don't recommend spending hard worked money on this place. We came for lunch on a Saturday, and I was honestly really skeptical about this place since I'm not a huge fan of franchises. There weremthree of us, and there were ample seats when we walked in at around 12:30pm. The prices aren't very cheap either, especially for the mediocre food. We ordered the ribeye steak with mac n cheese, I ordered the tilapia lunch special, and we also got a half rack of ribs. They gave us complimentary bread to start the meal as well. When the food came, we were not amused at all by the presentation. The ribeye looked as if it were boiled, and although we asked for it to be cooked medium rare, it came out looking medium to well done. The ribs looked pretty unappetizing, as it looked like ribs slathered with this sticky, weird sauce. My tilapia was very mediocre; I definitely could have made it myself as it was just a piece of fish with seasonings. The entire meal added up to be $50, which I was shocked by since we didn't order that much food. We sat in the bar, and Amir was our waiter. The service was excellent. They were prompt, met all of our requests, and we got our food on time after getting our drinks on time. I had the wedge salad and the chicken wings, and I would almost turn the car around and go back and have them again right now. The menu is extensive and offers a wide range of choices. My husband had one of the lunch specials. His steak was cooked perfectly and he enjoyed his side. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Absolutely fabulous service. I was taking my pet to the vet and he was really sick. Unfortunately he needed to be euthanized due to illness. I contacted this outback steakhouse and requested a small size fillet to feed my dog prior to the procedure. when they found out what occurred they comped it and even added some chicken and bread. Rating the burger only! Stopped here for a to go order to take to my mom at the nursing home down the street. Service was good while I waited they let me sit at a table and brought me water. The burger was cooked perfectly and very juicy! Fries were perfect! Bread yummy! The only complaint I have is the price, 2 burgers with tax and tip was $36! I have been going to this Outback now for over 25 years. I have seen the quality of service and the food go downhill for years...but this is the last straw! I haven't been inside in a while but I can only imagine!! I order on DoorDash consistently from them but not anymore!! True to form...they (Outback staff) have been failing consistently over and over and over again!! Well, last night was it...I have had it! I got a steak dinner...that cost over $50..that's right $50.00. What I got was a slab of gristle, fat and a tiny section of maybe 3 bites of meat that was disgusting and 90% gross fat...for $50!!! Unbelievable. I wouldn't feed this piece of meat to my dog and I can't believe someone actually cooked it let alone served it. It looked like someone shoved a bunch of scraps together and cooked it. I also got a baked potato that looked like it came out of the trash dumpster...it was old and stale and they cooked it anyway!! This has happened to me again and again and again over the last 3 or 4 years now! I called the manager there and this idiot wanted to kiss this off to DoorDash and say it wasn't their fault but DoorDash's fault! What???? No you idiot...who cooked the steak..DoorDash...NO! You, the Outback, cooked and served the steak!! How dare you rip me off like this!! Don't waste your money and don't waste your time either at this location!! What we thought was going to be a nice Saturday night out for a family dinner was quite the opposite. First, I called to be put on the waiting list so we could avoid having to wait so long once we arrived, but after being placed on hold by the manager (Eduardo) for 15 minutes we actually arrived before he could come back on the phone to take my name. Once we got sat, it took about 10 minutes to finally have our waitress (Giovanna) come over to take our drink order. When she came over to do that, we placed an order for an appetizer. It wasn't until our appetizer was 1/2 gone that she finally took our food order. Once we got our food, my steak came out cold, which was when I flagged down the manager and complained. As he walked away he mumbled something, but even at that point he never took the steak or any of the other plates that had been sitting there the entire time away (as you can see in the photo) Service was terrible, management was useless, and our food was horrible. If it weren't for my husband and son being so hungry, they would have sent theirs back too.
