There is a lot to do here including baseball, basketball, swimming, and soccer etc. Pulling in we actually had the chance to see some beautiful horses. They were huge and looked a little intimidating. Horse riding is also an activity you can learn or join here. There are so many options for activities! Came here for The Lowlife 27 year picnic car show. This has been a car club I've seen for numerous years throughout Miami and mainly Homestead. You can tell thousands of dollars have been spent on these cars. From paint jobs, rims, interior, hydraulic systems, sound systems, and so much more. They really go all out and take their cars seriously! We walked around enjoying all the different cars and even watched the hydralic competition. That was interesting as I was nervous seeing then hop so high, but all was under control. We bumped into my little brother and his race car driving friend who brought out his car. He revved his engine and had everyone approaching his car..meanwhile, I had no hearing for about 5 mins, lol. There was 3 food trucks and non alcoholic drinks available for purchase. If you wanted alcohol you had to bring your own, wasn't a problem for my crowd, ha ha ha. I devoured a turkey leg with my BF and we were set. We stayed for hours just continuously walking up and down the lot checking out all the cars. It was a great day for all of us and can't wait for the same event next year

The actual rodeo started at 2 with a super patriotic flag ceremony and beautiful singing of America the Beautiful and then our National Anthem. Loved that!! The events started with the bucs which was outrageous and then went on to other events. Truth be told, I could not watch the roping of the cattle. It was not my cup of tea. But, I really did love all the horse riding events! It was super cool to see all the expert competitors.

We walked about the visitor center and the grounds. Learned more about the native wildlife from a teacher there. Many others were there for kayaking, paddleboarding, & fishing. The history of sponge harvesting in the bay was very educational. From here we took a two hour boat tour on the Stingray with pilot, Rick & tour gude Daniel. We went out to the northern end of the Florida keys as far as Boca Chita. A short hike & history lesson-was a private island most of the 1900s. Now it's a public site with a boat dock, beach, picnic area, & overnight camping by reservation. Help staff at the visitor center, clean restrooms, and a small aquarium. Recommend at least an hour here. But plan a full day to really explore. This National Park is a must see when in South Florida. Also out of Homestead is Everglades NP with for visitor centers for access. Thank you to all the staff & the boat tour guides. Nick & Liz, Albany, NY, USA

Tour excursions can be booked online at biscaynenationalparkinstitute.org. Now...there are different districts of Biscayne NP for cruises to leave from, but it's at the Dante Fascell Visitor Center at Convoy Point in Homestead, Florida which will be the primary boat tour departure point. It's also the central hub area of the park. You can plug "Dante Fascell VC" into Google Maps and be guided there with exact directions. There are alternative boating tours offered at Biscayne NP if you choose not to do the Heritage Tour. There's snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, sailing, scuba diving and even evening cruise experiences. But, the Heritage of Biscayne Tour is the most introductory excursion into what makes Biscayne NP so relevant and why preserving the mangroves ("salt-tolerant trees and shrubs that grow in tropical and subtropical coastal areas" according to Wikipedia) is vital to the marine life ecosystem of South Florida. The Heritage is also the sightseeing tour for families and casual park enthusiasts. Included along the cruise is visiting Boca Chita Key and Lighthouse, the symbolic landmark section of Biscayne NP. Here are details about the Heritage of Biscayne Cruise... - Tours depart daily. - Choose 9:30am - 1pm....or 1:30pm - 5pm. - Tours are 3.5 hours long. - Price is $83 for adults and $49 for children. Then add $10 - $15 for taxes and fees. - Tours accommodate 25 - 30 passengers. - Must sign a waiver form prior to boarding. - The first 1 hour and 45 minutes is spent on the water stopping at a few of the keys around Biscayne Bay and learning history about the park. My tour took 15 minutes to observe dolphins leisurely swimming. - Next, exit the boat and spend 1 hour walking around Boca Chita Key. You'll recognize Boca Chita Lighthouse which is the symbolic landmark of the park. You can normally enter inside it and climb the staircase to the top for views from high above. Unfortunately in 2025, the lighthouse is under construction. Administrators anticipate it reopening in 2026. - There's also a small 1/4 mile walk beside the shoreline that showcases how clear the waters can be at Boca Chita Key. - The last 40 minutes of the tour returns back to Dante Fascell Visitor Center. Lastly, there's not much else you can do individually around Biscayne NP if you're not participating on a boat tour and that's because 95% of the park is submerged underwater. But...if you'd like a full day experience, you can book the Heritage Tour for the morning half of the day (9:30am - 1pm) and pair it with an afternoon excursion like Jones Lagoon Eco-Adventure Paddle (1:30pm - 5pm). According to biscaynenationalparkinstitute.org, "the paddle tour navigates over water that's just inches deep and is surrounded by amazing marine life like baby sharks, turtles, and birds". With this itinerary, you can get the best of both worlds with two unique tours making for a fulfilling visit to Biscayne National Park.

We did a snorkel tour our first day, which took us out in the bay where we got to snorkel in the mangroves and near a limestone shoreline that was filled with lobsters and unique marine life. Sometimes you will get to go snorkel the coral reef, however it was too windy the day we were there, which was disappointing but safety is first priority. Our second day, we kayaked the mangroves. This was my first time kayaking and it took a little while to get the hang of it but it was a cool experience. Going down the mangrove inlets was very peaceful and you could see some cute crabs hanging out at the root of the tree. Be sure to bring bug spray and sunscreen. You will need it! This park is free to enter, but excursions do cost. They are pretty affordable though. If you don't go on any, at least walk the trail around the visitor center and watch the 20 minute video about the park.

There were nice paved and groomed walking trails around the peninsula and bay, as well as a ranger-led fishing experience on the bridge, which didn't cost anything. One of the kids caught a neat looking fish. There was also a nice little visitor center with all sorts of information about the wildlife in the area, as well as different maps and rangers there to talk about what there was to do. Of course there were also junior ranger badges to get, which we made sure to do to add to our collection. Overall this is definitely worth a stop on any trip. Five stars!
