    Outer Rim - Contemporary Resort
    Mitch K.

I have a soft spot in my heart for the Outer Rim. Where else can you enjoy a drink in a huge atrium watching a monorail glide through it? The best part is the pricing. I ordered a bourbon (Larceny) on the rocks which was $14.50...but for $2 more (yes, $2) you can make it a double. That's a total no-brainer and makes it ever so much more fun. :) Be aware though that they usually only have one server for the entire area, so if you're not seated close to the bar you might have to flag them down when you'd like to order something.

Jason makes a great blood orange margarita. This is a great spot in the middle of Disney Contemporary Resort. Service was great

It's a standard Disney bar with different cozy seating options (couches, high top, bar) in the Contemporary hotel. The drinks are priced on par with Disney drink stands ($11-15 cocktails, with tax and tip about $17). I tried the Rum Swizzle, which was essentially a guava mango Hurricane that worked pretty well. My friend downed two Ultimate Long Islands and said they were good. We also refilled our water bottles at Chef Mickey's next door, which had nice cold filtered water. It definitely tasted better than park water fountains. Overall, nothing to go out of your way for, and drinks came out a little slowly.

This is located inside Disney's Contemporary resort on the 4th floor. It is right next to Chef Mickey's and just a bar. There is no food available but there is a quick service restaurant very close by that you could bring food to. You do not need a reservation or need to be staying at the resort to go here. This was the second stop on our monorail bar crawl. I have heard a lot of people just say this is a sports bar, but I actually really liked this bar. There is only one TV at the bar. But they have lots of hightops, tables and lounge chairs throughout the bar. We just sat at the bar, I have no idea why. Their windows are wide open and have such a beautiful view of Bay Lake. It really is a pretty spot to chill out especially on a beautiful day. They have specialty drinks as well as beer and wine and a full bar. I ordered the chocolate martini, which had Mozart Chocolate liquor, vanilla vodka, creme de cacao and Frangelico. This tasted like a chocolate milkshake, so delicious and so dangerous if you order more than one. Our friend ordered the raspberry mojito, yummy, and my husband ordered the Kentucky mule, a bourbon style drink. It was strong! I also wanted to try the blood orange margarita, the paloma, and the antioxidant lemonade. Next time! This bar does not open till 4pm but stays open until 11pm. It is a really awesome spot to get away from the busy park and grab a drink. There is no alcohol in the Magic Kingdom unless you are dining at one of their sit-down restaurants. I would definitely recommend stopping here if you want to get away from the park, or if you are staying at the hotel. It has a beautiful view, lounge seats, bar seats, table side service and pretty great drinks!

The Rum Sizzle that has ginger.
    Karen N.

All drinks are reasonably priced. I ordered the Rum Sizzle to go. I should have known the word Sizzle would include something I don't like in my drink...say spicy? The menu didn't say it was in there so I took another sip. I asked the bartender if the drink included ginger. He wasn't sure but would check the label on the syrup. Sure does. He got a little worried because he thought I was allergic to ginger. Maybe so. Ginger gives me a sore throat. He apologized and made me a Blood Orange Margarita. Much better! I'll see him again tomorrow night.Nice bar that has seats by the windows overlooking the lagoon.

The Outer Rim is located inside of Disney's Contemporary, on the 4th floor. You can enjoy this location from 4 pm to 11pm. My wife, myself, and our friend were doing the Monorail Bar Crawl, and this was our second stop. I've always heard that this is a sports bar, I now will respectfully disagree. To me a sports bar is essentially Ale House, this isn't the case at The Outer Rim. They have high tops, tables, and lounge chairs all over the bar. It's actually a nice place sit down, relax, and have a cocktail. No food is available however, you can bring food to the sitting area. My wife, myself and our friend decided to sit at the bar. We took a look at the menu and, they have good selections. *My wife ordered the Chocolate Martini(Mozart Chocolate Liquor, Stoli Vanil Vodka, Bols White Crème de Cacao, and Frangelico) My wife absolutely love this drink so much that this will be a staple, every time we come to MK.*I ordered the Kentucky Mule(Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon, Lime Juice, and Pure Cane Sugar topped with Fever Tree Ginger Beer) I truly loved this drink. The bourbon and the ginger beer marry well.*Our friend ordered the Raspberry Mojito(Bacardi Raspberry Rum, Mount Gay Eclipse Rum, Lime Juice, Mint, and Raspberry Purée topped with Soda Water) Our friend called it danger in a glass. It was so smooth she couldn't taste the alcohol. She said she could've had 2 or 3. The other cocktails they offer looked delicious as well. *Cocktails: -Golden Haze Margarita(Teremana Blano Tequila, Grand Marnier Liqueur, Smoked Chili Bitters, Lime, and Agave)* Blood Orange Margarita(Sauza Conmemorativo Añejo Tequila, Cointreau, Lime Juice, and Blood Orange Sour)* Spicy Poblano Margarita(Patrón Silver Tequila, Ancho Reyes Verde Liqueur, Lime Juice, and Pure Cane Sugar)* Paloma(Don Julio Blanco Tequila with juices of Ruby Red Grapefruit and Lime topped with Soda Water)* Rum Swizzle(Mount Gay Eclipse Rum with Tropical Juices and flavors of Guava and Mango)* Bacardi Mojito(Bacardi Superior Rum, Lime Juice, Pure Cane Sugar, and Mint topped with Soda Water)* Antioxidant Lemonade(Van Gogh Açaí-Blueberry Vodka, Minute Maid Premium Lemonade, and Pomegranate Juice topped with Sprite)* Walk the Plank(Old Forester Bourbon, Orange Juice, Orgeat (Almond), and Lemon Juice garnished with Luxardo Gourmet Maraschino Cherries)* Smoked Turkey(Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon, Red Stag Black Cherry Bourbon, Grenadine, and Minute Maid Premium Lemonade with a hint of Hickory Smoke, garnished with Luxardo Gourmet Maraschino Cherries)* Negroni(Bombay Sapphire Gin, Campari, and Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth)* Whiskey Breeze(Old Forester Bourbon, Cointreau, and Lime Juice with flavors of Guava and Mango)* Moscow Mule(Russian Standard Vodka, Lime Juice, and Pure Cane Sugar topped with Fever Tree Ginger Beer)* Bahama Mama(Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, Plantation Original Dark Rum, Bols Crème de Banana, and Tropical Juices)* Piña CoLava(Bacardi Raspberry Rum blended with flavors of Coconut, Pineapple, and Raspberry Purée)* Magical Star Cocktail (X-Fusion Organic Mango and Passion Fruit Liqueur, Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, Pineapple Juice, and a souvenir multicolored Glow Cube)* Ultimate Long Island Iced Tea(Bacardi Superior Rum, Tito's Handmade Vodka, Hendrick's Gin, Corazón Blanco Tequila, Cointreau, and Sweet-and-Sour with a splash of Coca-Cola)* Captain's Mai Tai(Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, Bols Amaretto, and Tropical Juices topped with a float of Myer's Original Dark Rum)* Red Sangria(Tempranillo grapes and has flavors of raspberry, apple, and blackberry with succulent aromas of natural Valencia oranges and cinnamon)* White Sangria(Airén grapes and has flavors of banana, pineapple, and grapefruit with a hint of ginger)* Piña Colada(SelvaRey Coconut Rum, Pineapple, Agave, Orange Bitters served over ice) Aside from cocktails they do have a list of white and red wines, beer and ciders, and make mocktails. All in all I think the service was good. Our bartender was funny and kind, drinks were absolutely delicious, and it's sort of a quite area. Without question we shall return here. Aces!

Just stopped in for drinks. Server was great. Nice relaxed area with decent cocktails. Good people watching spot in the hotel.

I can't believe this place still exists! It's like stepping into a forgotten corner of the Magic Kingdom--where magic took a day off. Go for the thrill of shelling out your hard-earned Mickey bucks for a drink that somehow tastes like the souvenir cup it came in. Stay for the cast members who seem to have missed the 'Disney service with a smile' memo. If you're looking for a spot that redefines 'bare minimum' with a side of pixie dust, Outer Rim is your Happily Never After. Just don't expect any magical memories--unless you count the kind you'd rather forget!

First stop for our monorail bar crawl. I got the mai tai, so delicious and a good pour. They let us get plastic cups to walk around the resort. We ended up finishing our drinks on the patio overlooking Magic Kingdom. So much fun!

Visited the Outer Rim while my wife and friends of mine were doing the monorail crawl here at Disney World. The service there was ok and I felt like the server was a disinterested serving us. The bar just didn't feel right.. I ordered a Kentucky mule and even though I'm not the most knowledgeable person about drinks I definitely received a Moscow mule instead. It still was a decent drink we won't be in a big rush going back to that particular bar..

Our group stopped here for the 1st drink of the monorail pub crawl for my daughter's 26th birthday because The California Grill was closed until 5 pm. We had the best server and our drinks were all fantastic. The prices weren't bad for Disney. I learned that the resort lounges have better bartenders than in the parks, which makes sense. The ambiance was just okay and more typical of an airport lounge. I'm not really a fan of the Contemporary because it's very dated. But I highly recommend a stop here for a quick drink.

Great stop strategically located near the transportation center in The Contemporary resort. What better way to cool off from a long day at Magic Kingdom than grabbing a craft beer or a signature cocktail such as the smoked turkey or Kentucky mule!!

I don't know what the odds are that we managed to wander in here for a drink the same night as the Kentucky Derby, but here we were. The timing was actually pretty good. The bartender and waitress were hosting an impromptu Kentucky Derby party and taking bets on horses (no money involved, of course). We chose are frontrunners - some of whom ended up in back - and ordered our drinks to enjoy during the race. They offer quite a selection of drinks here; some that you wouldn't probably consider or even see in other places. When in Rome, though.... The evening was very enjoyable with the banter from the staff, the tasty beverages, the Kentucky Derby and of course, the view out the window into the Bay Lake. I wouldn't wait until the Kentucky Derby to come back. I'm sure this place is just as nice during other times of the year as well. Like now.

It's one of Disney's newer additions, and worth the detour. Grabbed a Cold Brew Coffee to start the morning. My only gripe was they were pretty heavy-handed with the ice, which left me with more diluted coffee than I bargained for so I'd you're an iced coffee purist, don't be shy about asking for light ice. That said, the experience was quick, easy, and painless if you're looking to get your caffeine fix before a full day in the parks. The space itself has a really nice ambience that fits the Polynesian's theming well. Being a newer concept, it feels fresh and polished without the wear you see at some of the older resort quick-service spots. Would I come back? Probably, especially for convenience if I'm already over at the Poly. Just going to ask for easy ice next time!

Depending on what drink you order, they may lower the lights, turn on the volcano and start chanting. I'll be honest, as an introvert, this wasn't my jam the first time I visited, because we were seated at the bar and the bartenders chose me for one of the acts. But the last two times, we were seated at a table in the very back and I love to watch from my dark corner. My husband ordered a zombie and our waitress did a hilarious zombie act as she brought it over to him. It's just so fun. I ordered a pineapple drink that featured Dole Whip and I didn't love it because the consistency was reminiscent of a Slurpee rather than Dole Whip. I feel like drinks are a little hit or miss and some are strong AF so know what you're getting into. Other things to keep in mind: if there's just two of you and you're not sitting at the bar, you will share a table. I don't love this but it is what it is. One time the couple we were seated with was cool but this last time, I made the mistake of making a light political comment that was meant with stony silence... my bad, but I don't need to think about putting my foot in my mouth if I'm not seated with strangers. All good, though, because for half the time we had our four-top to ourselves. This place is great for groups if you're willing to wait. Use the My Disney Exp app to put your name on the waitlist.
