Chloe and I ventured all the way over to Florence last night...just for sushi. What can we say? Y'all know. Outlaw Sushi is fairly new to the area, having just opened last summer. Kudos to their social media team for rarely missing a day of posting, thus keeping them in my newsfeed and on my mind. Businesses, take note. We started off with Kimchi Pimento Cheese and Won Ton Chips. Warm and gooey, with just a hint of kimchi and spice. We really liked it and would order it again. We ordered three rolls to share and I must say we made some good choices (with the help of our server, Andrea, who gave amazing service from start to finish). Crimson Wave: tempura shrimp, avocado, and jalapeno topped with red tuna, white tuna, eel sauce, spicy mayo, and a ginger coconut sauce. Zaza: spicy tuna, avocado, and cucumber, topped with seared salmon, creole seasoning, orange honey glaze, eel sauce, and fried onions. The Ivy Green: snow crab salad, tempura asparagus, and avocado, topped with smoked salmon, eel sauce, and mercenary sauces. The rolls were delicious, beautiful, and creative. We've already got a few rolls on our mind for the next visit! We didn't have room...but we MADE a little room for some tempura fried ice cream. Delish! 123 Magnolia Street, Florence, AL 35630 #HeatherEats

Authentic Japanese cuisine in a relaxing environment. Friendly and attentive service. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. This is the type of experience you would normally find in bigger cities, so to have this locally owned restaurant in The Shoals is a gift. The sushi chef is highly trained and experienced. Easily one of the best in the Southeast and he's a Shoals native. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town.

We had several rolls, ramen and a poke bowl with beers and cocktails. All the food was fab!

Food, absolutely 5 stars. Great food, and service top notch! I had to take a star for ambiance. I really hate to, bc I loved the restaurant and have wanted to try it for a while, however...... the musician playing was too loud for the space. He took a break, readjusted and was still blowing our ears out. This $200 meal with my kids was memorable, but for this type of experience, I wish the atmosphere was a bit more socially conducive. We will definitely try Outlaw again, as I have been excited about this new restaurant. I hope this issue can be resolved. An acoustic guitar and singer would have been sufficient without the amplification.

To go was just ok. Not nearly the same. The roll was still good, but I won't order sushi to go.

Showing up after church, the dining area was only about 20% full. It is located in a very dismal strip mall. It is a bright spot and has not brought any life back to it. Once inside, the ambiance and decorations still make you glad you arrived. There are wonderful bamboo sculptures, vases, and flowers. On my first review, I praised the open kitchen and how you could see the chef hand pull noodles. That is covered up now because their original offering of eight different shapes made on site is down to only one. Two other offerings are NOT made on site. I ordered flat noodles and was quite disappointed. They were not made there, were overcooked and tasted bland. The broth and the meat were still wonderful. While service was excellent when they first opened, it is quite poor now. You must order off a tableside wireless computerized menu. I do not like that, preferring the nice menu they had before so I could skim and scan to zero in on my choice. When I asked if I was allowed to talk to my server, she said, "only if I am not busy". Sorry, but I like to discuss the menu options to learn more and see if I could customize my order. At the end of the meal, my server asked if everything was OK. I voiced the complaints listed above and she said, "Yea, well, that's the way it is now. You must have come when we first opened. Things have changed." One of the employees from the back made me very uncomfortable. When he was not busy (which was often) he would stand behind the counter and either cross his arms or put them on his hips and stare at the dining area. I had a very hard time avoiding his gaze. I thought his interest was on me only. I will NOT come back. There are better restaurants closer to my house. This place has really gone downhill. In fact, she said that the same owners owned another nearby restaurant. I will not be there either.

Ordering from the tabletop computer was easy, though I wish starters came out first since everything arrives as it's made. Also, I'd love if they moved the soda machines from the kitchen window--it would be nice to watch the staff make the noodles they're known for. We ordered the pork bao buns, hamburger, General Tso's chicken, and beef noodles with brown sauce. Every dish was delicious, but the General Tso's was easily the best I've ever had--perfectly balanced, not overly sauced or battered. The noodles and broth were also amazing. We were too full to finish the burger, but it was still tasty. I'd definitely come back to try more. Shoutout to Jadin for her friendly, refreshing service! Next time, leave the broth

If you are unfamiliar with this chain, think Chipotle for pasta, but it is not made in front of you. They have a bit of prepared pastas, but you can also create your own. Noodles and Company is a quick serve spot that serves purpose when the regular rotation of week night dinners runs a bit stale. The location itself needs some TLC as it is worn from ripped and torn seating, cabinet doors falling off of the drink station, stained ceiling tiles and dirty floors. The place needs some conditional love. Cleanliness was decent throughout with the exception of filthy entry windows and doors. Food wise I went with the Pesto Cavatappi and a side of garlic bread to go. Portions could be a bit larger, but that is why I added the garlic cheese bread. Pasta's are priced as is then there is an additional charge for protein. Your average pasta with protein will run you around $12. I enjoyed the pesto pasta and the chicken was lightly breaded and portioned well for the pasta. The garlic bread was a bit soggy and the cheese came off with one bite, and not in the cool "cheese pull" kind of way. Service was "meh". They were on their phones watching videos loudly while customers waited to be noticed at the counter. Overall, Noodles and Company is just okay. Definitely has potential to be added to a quick and easy weeknight dinner rotation, but they need to make a few adjustments.
