Duke's music in eve from hotel's two restaurants

Nestled in-between the lovely pink Royal Hawaiian and the historic Moana Resorts, the Outrigger shares the same beach area and is in the perfect central spot on the Waikiki strip. The staff was all top notch and friendly, room clean, bed comfortable, and room laid out well. Our side view room still had a nice view of the water for the few times we were in our room. The A/C was perfect and usually is what I hate in hotel rooms as I overheat too easily, and theirs was a powerhouse. There is an ABC Store right in the lower level along with two restaurants. The Rotal Hawaiian Center was immediately next door and the International Marketplace directly across the street and the famous Duke's beach statue a 3-5min walk away. It truly is in the center of it all, but our 6th floor room was quiet and restful. We always found a free lounger on the lanai and all sorts of beach and ocean activities are right there. We truly could not have picked a better location. We walked to the Zoo and to Fort DeRussy Park for the Friday Night Fireworks. Felt safe walking everywhere. We did not use a car since we planned to just play in Waikiki (having been on Oahu before) - though we walked just a few blocks to rent a car just for the day (Enterprise) to get ourselves to the Polynesian Cultural Center (a MUST!!), so it was extremely convenient to pick it up and do the nighg drop off so we had no parking charges at all. The hotel also had daily activities for free, hula, bracelet making, lei making, etc. The water in front of the hotel was very safe to float out in the waves and enjoy the water (but not for snorkeling). A highlight for us was their free Hawaiian Vow Renewal Ceremony by the beach - so heartfelt, spiritual and now a cherished memory. Had NO complaints the entire stay. I researched a ton of hotels before trying this one and all my hard research paid off. We truly WILL stay here again if we come back to Oahu.

We love the location, views, beach, food and shopping options at Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort! The staff is always friendly and service is great. However, the rooms and décor are extremely outdated. Based on our oceanfront stays at this property and neighboring islands, the rooms are underwhelming compared to other resorts within the price range. The rooms should be renovated to reflect the cost and other outstanding features at Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort.

    Gorgeous partial ocean views/city too

These rooms are huge. They're old school, but we love them. I wish the huge closets were smaller and instead the shower were bigger lol. It's a huge closet and a tiny shower lol. Love the lamps and the beds are comfortable. Love the huge balcony's and the fridge in the bathroom. The microwave was super convenient, liked that it was behind security to regulate not just any random ppl using it, but only guests. Did not care for the pool, it's way too crowded and not enough shade. I do love the coffee ship for açaí bowls but I don't care for their coffee. Bellhops are always really nice, but lately, some of the staff at dukes is really nice and go above and beyond, but one really rude server and then manager, soured our families meal- they literally argued w us lol over a lack of communication between their own staff giving us conflicting info on alternative milk options for the coffee. It was pretty dumb. For that reason, we're over dukes and will just go to the many other, comparable breakfast and brunch, lunch and dinner spots. Still giving 5 stars bc the hotel is 5 stars. Love the laundry self serve area, too. The location and views are unbeatable , but I wish they'd do something about that pool- find a way to reconfigure or expand it and make it a larger area either build up or something, it's just so small for how many rooms there are and there are those of us who hate a lot of sun lol- need way more shaded options around the pool.

In the past, we've not been all that impressed with the hotel rooms on our stays at various hotels on Waikiki - but we've never stayed here before. We've been coming for about 20 years and we've stayed multiple times at the Royal Hawaiian, the Moana Surfrider and Sheraton Princess Kaiulani - and we've enjoyed the stays . . . but the rooms themselves are just not up to snuff. Poorly designed spaces, weird temperature controls, odd housekeeping, ancient funk in need of updating . . . there might be a great common area, but the (quite expensive!) rooms where we've stayed aren't as nice as a business hotel in flyover country. We've always kind of wondered about the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort (not a brand name we recognized, so we were hesitant to stay here) - we have been here for food and drinks since we started visiting the area, but only just now got around to biting the bullet and trying it out as a place to stay. Wow, are we glad that we did. Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort had none of the issues of the other hotels - it wasn't inexpensive (of course; look where it's located), but it hit the mark for us. Great and comfy space in our ocean-view balcony room - not fancy or updated, but not dated or creepy. Smashing housekeeping service (bell desk and front desk folks were great, too) with lightning-fast room cleanings and not a thing less than perfect ever. Great amenities Great location. The bed was a comfortably firm foundation BUT had a thick, soft pillowtopper that wasn't great for my back; also, the room could have used more bedding (a supplemental comforter) in this cooler season. No robes or slippers were provided. We're not talking about anything like a fancy place in Vegas with multiple marble bathrooms, but the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort gave us our best stay in all of our trips to Waikiki. (And I understand they're planning an update in 2025.) We plan to return.

I loved my stay here! I got my travel package through Costco and had soo many options to choose from but I am so glad I got to experience this place! They are going through renovations and some places like lobby and elevator are visibly under construction but they have all their amenities available. You get refillable water bottles and complimentary sunscreen in the pool area! I loved it, its smells so good like rosemary. Having Dukes in the lobby was super convenient. I got some to go boxes and took food upstairs for my kids. We also needed medicine. Grabbed some items from abc store also in the lobby! The staff were all so kind and attentive! I was able to pay a bit more for a late check out. So worth it! Waikiki has my heart and outrigger should made it so much more special! I hope to be bs k very soon!

This hotel knows what the word ohana is. We were treated like family the minute we walked in and until we left. Alll staff from the front desk, to house keeping, to service were amazing and very well courteous to us for our honey moon. Our friends Mai and Cherly recommended it t our honey moon and were they right!!

Excellent location, service, views and Dukes for dining. Staff uniformly helpful. Short walk to Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, International Market Place, Cheesecake Factory and many other restaurants and shopping l.

All of the reviews before me tell the truth. And if you're looking for a peaceful vacay, maybe think about the type of resort you'd want to stay in. I didn't know what I was getting myself into, but it's CROWDED. Maybe it was because I was here for Christmas, but man oh man. Lots of people on the beaches, in the restaurants, crowding the walkways... It's a lot. It feels like a lot. But waking up and sleeping to ocean sounds on the beach, that might be worth it. And the sunsets! If you're ready, get a room with the view. It will not disappoint! (But the food downstairs will )

    Cassie M.

Excellent hotel voyager lounge for daily breakfast and happy hour! The setting is absolutely ideal on the deck right above the beach. You have a gorgeous view of sunrise over Diamond Head for breakfast. It was so relaxing to sit and watch the waves with a nice breeze through the palm trees. The daily selections were also superb. Lots of fresh pineapple and fruit, coffee, juice, toast and bagels, hot and cold cereal, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, waffles, and more. For happy hour, food selections varied with cheese and fruit, dumplings, salad, fried egg rolls, and a bunch of meat options I don't eat. The POG juice was also such a treat.

    Freda M.

Nice hotel right on the beach, great service by staff, very safe building, but old and dated furniture and no microwave in the room. ABC store within the building is very convenient for incidentals, however, extremely pricey! Umbrella and two lounge chair rentals $100 per day, but free beach towels are available. Music from Dukes downstairs plays until midnight and it gives a very Vegas on the beach vibe. Location is great, within walking distance to the international marketplace, dining, shopping, and other beaches too.

Room 209. This is what you get for partial ocean viewing from this hotel! All day & night you hear nothing but HVAC running. Most disappointing room we ever stayed at. We booked through Costco travel & they reached out to the hotel & hotel would not accommodate.

    Dukes Outrigger! 20th wedding anniversary!
    Heather T.

So I have to start out by saying that we are back in Hawaii as of this week, this time. We came in September versus coming in October, and we are currently staying at another resort. Unlike the past 2 years, where we have stayed at the Outrigger, and we went to Duke's tonight for our 20th wedding anniversary. And we had reservations, the food was very good. David, the waiter was excellent, but I have to say. The Outrigger hotel has changed tremendously. Over the last year, it has brought in people off the beach that are sitting in the lounge area of the lobby of Dukes in thongs. And bikini tops hanging out, and there are numerous women that should not be wearing that kind of bathing suits in an establishment that is set for dinner. We sat across in the lobby, waiting for our table from a couple, that had barely any clothes on, and it was quite a turn-off. I think that over the past year, since we've been here, the Outrigger has become a party type hotel. We sat at our table and the music was so loud, We couldn't even hear each other talking. I think the Outrigger has a lot of work to do. They still have that 6 / 6 foot pool, that is very tiny. And I think that they need to get some type of security. There's a lot of people coming off the beach that aren't even staying at the Outrigger that are way out of control way out of hand, and it's quite a turn-off. Not my idea of an ideal vacation. Wanting to relax and enjoy and have some peace and quiet, and that's why we have chosen to go somewhere else this year. If you're into loud music, dancing, constant partying, drinking, women wearing questionable clothes, and you don't want peace and quiet and you love the loud noise and you love the crowds and you love to drink, this is the place for you, but I will never ever come back to the Outrigger. Unfortunately, I will not come back to Dukes, in Waikiki. I will go to the Dukes in La Jolla, California. Where they we had a great time, it was beautiful. It was very peaceful, it was relaxing there. The Outrigger has no control, no security. They don't have any class. They just let anybody off the street into the hotel and to me, that is a major turn-off. Beware of this place as it is a party hotel with a pool the size of a kiddie pool.

The food here was incredible and of good quality. Good for any type of gatherings of any size breakfast, lunch or dinner. Bartenders and service at the bar was even better! The amount of attention every table was receiving was amazing, glasses were never empty and always started with a full pour. Self parking was completely full, although valet parking service was a better idea. Keep in mind this is a full service 5 star property located in Kahala/Waialae. The people doing the Quest looked happy. We went to two different bars. The pool bar is a beautiful setting, the cocktails were delicious, the service was adequate , the waiter was a jerk. He wore goofy, rainbow reflective sunglasses. I felt once he found out we were not regular guests, he did not care about pleasing us. I was a little embarrassed as we were treating our cousins from Missouri to the Aloha culture. He was adding a 22% service charge, so he didn't care. We had to ask for everything. We ordered 3 things to share, we asked for side plates. He pointed out there were liners under the bowls, 3 plates for 5 people. I was glad he added service as My husband and I usually over tip and I would have, and then resented it. For a fancy resort I was underwhelmed. 3 and 1/2 really but they get the extra half because the other staff we met were lovely.

There is a cute booth area with modern touches where you can play cards, have your meals, set your luggages down, etc. The view of the ocean and of diamond head was my favorite part of our stay. It's so picturesque like how you would envision a picture on a postcard! The one thing that I thought they could improve on is limiting how long each party can occupy a chair at the pool area. We saw that folks would reserve seats by placing their items on the chairs they wanted, but remained unused for long periods of time. There has got to be a timer for folks using these chairs. I highly recommend this hotel and can't wait to return to the breakfast buffet at the Veranda again:)

Pro tip: if you have a late flight, there is a lounge where you can relax and prepare for your departure, as check out is 11am.

The restroom is in the restaurant area. I never once left the restaurant throughout the entire evening. I was simply on my way to pick up my drink from the seating area and then head to the bar to pay. He told me I was "going the wrong way" when the way I was going would have led to me to the bar... The way this team handles tabs in this bar is abysmal. Right when I sat down, I was attempting to give my bartender my credit card to start a tab. They refused to accept my card and said don't worry about it, and that they'll take it after I'm done. I explicitly told the bartender that I was going over to the lawn right next to the bar (still in the restaurant area) to get a better view of the musical performance, drink in hand. They said go ahead. Nobody should be treated like this

This is my 2nd time staying in Waikiki. We wanted a beach front hotel so we decided on Outrigger…read moreReef for a full week. To start off, I'd give the resort a solid 4/5, no more, no less. The location? It's great because it is literally beach front; however, it is on the southern most edge part of that beach area. This means that the beach right outside is jam packed with tourists coming and going and you would have to walk a decent ways up the beach to find a spot. Regardless, a beach front is a beach front so it's nice to get down there quick and enjoy the beach. The hotel is in a great spot in Waikiki because there are tons and tons of shopping stores and food areas within a 15 minute walk so you never really have to drive out. Monkey Pod restaurant down below has great reviews and is delicious, but I personally think their menu is quite small. They also have a pool side bar/cafe that serves drinks, snacks, and meals and is a secondary pool-side restaurant. They play music down there every night. It's very calm, quaint, and peaceful to enjoy a night in the hotel. Unfortunately, the prices of their drinks are ridiculously overpriced. $17 for a Mai Thai not including tip. Insane. The room? I would say pretty average for any decent hotel. It was clean, the bed was good, the pillows were nice and big. The balcony is small, but can sit two people to enjoy the outside. The down side is the rooms of the two towers of the hotel face each other. So you don't get a beach front view unless you pay the big extra for those rooms. My biggest gripe about the room was the shower. The whole 7 days the water would change from warm, hot, very hot, rinse and repeat every few seconds. The price? Very expensive, but that's the price you pay for a beach front hotel PLUS it being on Waikiki beach. There's probably not big deals/sales unless you buy it through Costco Travel which is what I did which saves you probably a couple hundred at the very least. Valet is automatically included which is another 60 per night (not including whatever few bucks you tip them whenever you go out) so this would easily rack up your bill. I'd say the closest free parking is at least a 20 minute walk one way. Despite my rating the hotel a 4/5, would I recommend this spot? It depends. If you are a newcomer to Oahu and want to experience the casual, tourist experience of Oahu, want that beach front hotel, and have the cash, I would recommend this. If you are not a newcomer, there are many other hotels that will suit many other tastes. And honestly, staying at any other hotel outside of Waikiki is probably best if you want to really save on money and see better beaches.

They really carried the experience and handled issues quickly and gracefully. After a disappointing first room, they immediately helped move us to a much nicer upgraded room that felt far more in line with what you'd expect from a Ritz-Carlton property. That said, the original room was surprisingly dated, worn down, stained furniture, and not especially clean. Definitely not the luxury standard I was expecting for the price point. The second room was significantly better and saved the stay. The spa was another standout. Excellent treatments, knowledgeable staff, and one of the better spa experiences we had in Waikiki. You can tell the spa team takes pride in what they do. Unfortunately, the food across the property was consistently underwhelming. Honestly some of the weakest meals we had during our time in Waikiki, especially considering how many great dining options are nearby. The pool area was also pretty average, nice enough, but nothing memorable or particularly luxurious compared to other resorts in Hawaii. Overall, this place has incredible service but the actual property and food don't fully live up to the Ritz-Carlton name as one would think.

Still our favorite hotel for our family staycation! We've been coming to Hilton Hawaiian Village…read morefor years and have stayed in just about every tower except one, and we've enjoyed each experience. We're not high-maintenance travelers--we simply appreciate the opportunity to spend quality time together, and every stay here creates lasting memories. One of our favorite conveniences is the ABC Stores on the property. They're reasonably priced and have surprisingly good sushi and poke bowls for a quick meal. This summer visit was noticeably busier than our fall stays. The pools were definitely crowded, and the village was packed with tourists. While people say tourism is down, that certainly wasn't our experience--it felt very lively throughout our stay. Instead of driving, we used Lyft to visit the Waikīkī International Market Place, which ended up being much cheaper than paying for parking and was well worth it. During this trip, we stayed in the Kalia Tower and loved our room's view overlooking the ocean, lagoon, harbor, and even the marketplace below. My husband also enjoyed using the fitness center. He mentioned it was busiest in the mornings and mid-afternoons, so evenings seemed like the best time to work out. One of the highlights of our stay was our daily feathered visitor--a pigeon that stopped by to greet us every day, which became a fun little tradition. Overall, we had another wonderful stay and made more great family memories. We're already looking forward to coming back again next year!

With all respect to the Hilton family, The Hilton name should be removed from this iconic property…read more It's an embarrassment to say the least. The Hilton accomodation standards are shamefully missing from this iconic resort. After reading several reviews and confirming that the iconic Rainbow Tower just completed its multi million dollar renovation, I secured a Rainbow Kai High-Floor Oceanfront room. Room 2719. The room view was spectacular however the room itself was not Hilton comfortable. Decor was nice but not what we anticipated it would be. After our first night it became obvious that the multi million dollar tower renovation was cosmetic only. A/C system was noisy and not adequate enough for sleeping comfortably. Mini fridge leaked water on floor. Hot water in Shower/Tub/Sink took between 4 - 6 1/2 minutes to get warm/hot. NO EXAGGERATION Closet had a musty odor and wooden hangers that were absolutely disgusting and should have been discarded years ago. The super (main) pool was littered with leaves and debris with zero upkeep maintenance. The tower elevators were another issue. The elevator lobby facade was updated but that was it. The wait for an elevator was absolutley ridiculous. The tower has 6 cars with smart technology. Once inside you couldn't help notice how old they were. Loose wires, dirty mirrors as well as creeks, bangs, scrapes. Definitely an unnerving experience. The Hotel wait staff were very friendly and hospitable although no one stood out for name recognition. The MOD (Manager on Duty) did provide a $200 and $100 resort credit for the hot water issues. She did indicate that the recently completed renovation was a cosmetic upgrade only and that interior building components (Water pipes, elevator mechanical upgrades etc.) were not included. The Rainbow Tower was originally completed and opened in 1968 The property itself is expansive. The beach, lagoon, pools, shops and restaurants are all located on property within a 5-10 minute walk. Conveinant ride share area as well as Charley's Taxi service for an immediate ride with 24 hour availability at the bell stand. While Park Hotels and Resorts fully funded the capital improvements as the property owner, the daily resort operation and management remain under the Hilton brand. Such a shame.

Hotel offers different types of pillows in the room and spare blanket in armoire. Also in the armoire is hangers, an ironing board and steaming iron, which came in handy for those wrinkled linen shirts mashed in my suitcase. The Bathroom. - one sink with a little counter top space but sufficient. The toilet was also bidet in the master bath. The shower pressure on 21st is ok but low, but it did the job. The Ac in room was awesome! It gets super cold, if you need it, quickly. It was nice for those hot humid days of walking in Waikiki. It had an In-room mini fridge and bar sink with 4 real drinking glasses, which I like. Hated there was no freezer in the mini fridge But the bell hop station offers to freeze ice packs, or whatever you need, for you. We had 3 sliding doors with west views and moderate views of Waikiki beach. The Second bedroom has own bath with also a single sink, toilet and shower- No bidet. The room/bedding/bathrooms were clean with no mold in the showers. The furniture showed a little wear but nothing excessive. The Elevators were fast! The pool, mangers reception and breakfast are all on the 4th Floor (terrace level). Breakfast was typical of Embassy Suites, I like the made to order omelette which makes it much better. Lots of fresh fruit and even some miso soup and other Japanese/Hawaiian offerings. The Staff was awesome and super friendly. I Used valet every day. Great service, fast and practical IMO but hard to swallow the daily fee. The hotel was attacked to the Waikiki beach walk. Island vintage coffee was a regular stop for coffee and sometimes breakfast. Order coffee or food to go online after 8am to save a ton of time standing in line. Hotel was Very close to all ththe shops. Awesome location. Much better location than Hilton Hawaiian village location!!! Our fav restaurant close by the hotel was Kana Pilla and Monkey Pod, which were across the street. Make sure to make Open Table reservations for both way ahead of time. I did mine 2 months out. Housekeeping willing to clean and supply new towels daily however linens are not cleaned but every 5 day, unless you request it, which they are happy to do! Views from 21st floor were awesome and all 21st floor rooms had extensive balconies. 3 sliding doors. Keep in mind Ac doesn't work, yes the fan blows, when the doors are open!! It's too humid at night to sleep with them open so we had them open for select times, mostly am. There's a Washer/dryer laundry room on site, 3rd floor only. It was Very convenient especially packing 4 days of clothes for a 10 day trip so our suitcases weren't stuffed . Use laundry room on sundays/mon or late evenings when people are too busy arriving and leaving. $5.25 to each wash load and I think $4.75 to dry. Washers only wash with cold which I like. Perm press on dryer seemed to dry all our shirts and socks well. We hung our nice Aloha shirts on the hangers in the room and they dried within a day. Washer and dryers take credit cards. Yes they're is a soap machine that also takes credit cards. I didn't use and just bought soap from ABC. ABC stores are EVERYWHERE so don't lug around suntan lotion or waters in your suitcase. Just buY at ABC which is only 20 steps away. FYI ABC doesn't no GIVE out bags for items unless you spend over a certain amount. ANC bags cost like .50 cents. ABC has Awesome poke and alcohol (spirit and beer) choices. Yes single purchase tall beers too. Don't forget the free brief fireworks show in front of the Hilton Hawaii Village on Friday nights only. We saw them set off at 7:45p by the lagoon. It's amazing how many people attend so be prepared for the crowds to and from. Big tip: make open table reservations for all your restaurants months ahead! All places are super busy until about 8:45 pm on most nights. Hope I helped.

One of the important standards I look for in a hotel stay, is a focus on supporting locals. For me, if there's a Starbucks in the lobby, then I'm already disappointed. This hotel has one of my favorite local chain cafes, Honolulu Coffee Company. The only local café that has consistently made perfect crema foe decades. Starbucks baristas are not trained for this. The hotel also has restaurants with lots of local flavor. The sushi buffet is amazing but difficult to get a reservation on the weekends. 100 Sails also has a buffet though ordering ala cart seemed like the best choice for us. Best place to view the Friday fireworks. Our only disappointment was how much street noise we could hear throughout the night, even though we were on the 28th floor.

We booked the Club Premier package, and we felt it was worth it because breakfast at 100 Sails Restaurant on the 3rd floor was excellent every morning. One thing to keep in mind is that parking is not included with your stay and must be paid for separately, which is something to factor into the overall cost. One big concern was the snacks on the 5th floor. We came across moldy bread, which was definitely concerning. I would think the staff would check the food before putting it out, especially considering this is not a cheap hotel. I loved that we could grab coffee every morning from Honolulu Coffee without having to leave the hotel. The lines can get long, but the service is fairly quick. The staff, overall, were not very welcoming and often seemed serious. However, on Monday, June 29, there was an older woman who was incredibly friendly and welcoming. She really stood out and made us feel appreciated. One other issue was that the body wash in our room was never refilled, so we ended up not having any during our stay. We also requested a later check out and our key cards aren't working. The front desk never mentioned anything about need to change keys cards if we had a later check out and now we're outside our rooms having to go back downstairs and change our key cards. And they were making it complicated because they wanted my drivers license even though it's in the room. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and the beautiful views, great amenities, and delicious breakfast made it a memorable family vacation.
