Ordered to go, and everything was delicious! My husband has been several times and always talks about how much he loves it. I just dont eat meat so I orderd the chilaquiles with no birria. The portions are great and still had some for later Hubby loved his per usual, they just fogot the consome but he still loved it. Service was nice and quick. Plenty of seating area when we went. Damn.... Absolutely do yourself a favor and go here. The specialty is birria... And they do it amazingly well. Order the grilled jalapenos with whatever you chose. Staff super friendly and appreciated our business. A little tough to find... But a gem when you find it. read more

My second visit and A friend of mines tagged along to experience this amazing food with me. We both got the Chilaquiles with Birria with over easy egg they got the scrambled eggs. My beverage of choice was the Pepino and Mann I tell y'all that drink was so so good, Get it on your next visit, thank me later . Overall the staff was amazing per usual and The owner Juan Carlos stopped by our table to make sure we was good, an awesome man. We will be back soon to try the other dishes as well. We looked the place up prior to our travels and the menu looked good so we stopped in. From entering the restaurant we were greeted promptly. We told them we were traveling and got great recommendations from the waiter. Everything was so delicious. We had the birria nachos and the order de tres which is basically their quesabirrias. The atmosphere was really wonderful! When you walk in, you are greeted by the employees and asked whether you want to dine in or take out. If you choose to dine in like I did, you were able to sit down wherever you'd like and were helped by a waiter. This is like a fast dining area but regardless, the waiter was super sweet and spoke English and Spanish! The staff was friendly and I loved the food so much! I had come across this business from the Tamale festival and was happy to find them located nearby to try. I definitely recommend here. read more

I finally made it out to this Hidden Gem!! It did NOT disappoint! We ordered the Special of the day; a Chilaquil Burrito, also some Tamales de Birria and Los 3 de Siempre. To drink we had their Horchata de Datil and a Jamaica... so refreshing and tasty! The quality of the food is just a whole other level of delicious. Cleanest servings of Birria without all the excess grease on the plate. Everything was seasoned and salted perfectly. Our order was to go so all the sides/toppings were individually wrapped and packaged neatly! The service was great too, as soon as you walk in, you are greeted with a smile and a welcome. I am so disappointed. I went back for Chilaquiles this morning. They were so good 4 days ago I decided to order again. It took 20 minutes for a to go order. There were only a few tables with customers. When I got home the chips were soggy & the egg was undercooked, including the whites. There was 1/2 the amount of beans. I absolutely love this place. I come almost every Friday to the Food Truck Festival in Indio and get me some Quesadillas Birria tacos. Service was quick, staff was congenial. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, I would definitely put this one on your list. I will be going back to try some of the other fare, but crispy tacos, rice and beans pretty much some up my choice at Mexican restaurants. Mixed crowd with many brothers from down below the border. I saw all the favorable reviews on Yelp and was looking forward to my first visit at Casa Mendoza. Very chill & lively family owned Mexican joint in Old Town LQ. The place was kinda busy @6:30pm on Hump Night ~~ always a great sign when I see this. Felt more like a Sunday Evening. It took an hour to receive our meals. Ordered @6:45 arrived @7:45pm. Good thing the Chimichanga & Gauc apps arrived pretty quickly. The Gauc was Excellente. All their food was very good. But all our meals arrived cold/lukewarm. Took forever to receive our food and we knew for a fact it's because all our plates sat a while until we were served. The actual plates weren't even warm and the sizzling fajitas had sizzled out and lost its dazzle. Because it was still 95 degrees when dinner was finally served, our lukewarm meals were doable on a hot night. Everyone did enjoy their meals tho. I was very pleased with my Mahi Mahi in Garlic Butter Sauce. The refried beans were outstanding. The rice very good...and I made tacos with the 3 corn tortillas. But would have enjoyed it even more had all the food been a little warmer. I stuck with H2O but all margarita drinkers said their drinks were good and hit the spot on a warm night. The service in general was also inconsistent for our small party of 8. The Birthday Boy was a little frustrated and got up a few times from his throne seeking assistance -- such as missing tortillas for meals, water refills, extra napkins. We even had to wait longer than anticipated for them to acknowledge the bday boy with a celebratory bday song & sombrero...and the fried ice cream, which didn't include a candle. Tho we all enjoyed ourselves and time together...a 2 hour dinner at a Mexican joint on a Wednesday night wasn't what we anticipated. Especially with one restless 7 year old ;-) But everyone working at Casa Mendoza is very friendly with great attitudes. Hostess team, waiters, servers & runners too. So that made up for the spotty service, just a little bit. Since I'm closer to the other Casa Mendoza in Palm Desert, I'd go there in the future with my wife, and order the exact same thing. But hope for much better service and warmer food.
