We were driving through Indio on our way back from Phoenix and found Outside the Masa off Yelp. So glad we made the detour to try out these birria tacos as they were amazing!! Ordered to go, and everything was delicious! My husband has been several times and always talks about how much he loves it. I just dont eat meat so I orderd the chilaquiles with no birria. The portions are great and still had some for later Hubby loved his per usual, they just fogot the consome but he still loved it. Service was nice and quick. Plenty of seating area when we went. I had the best chilaquiles I've ever had in my life. The chips were perfectly crispy with just the right amount of sauce--never soggy--and the flavor was bold, tangy, and seasoned to perfection. Found this new hidden gem this morning, Yum, Yum, I enjoyed the tender delicious Birria Tacos with a perfect Michelada, while my husband ordered the yummy green chilaquiles (hold the egg). My second visit and A friend of mines tagged along to experience this amazing food with me. We both got the Chilaquiles with Birria with over easy egg they got the scrambled eggs. My beverage of choice was the Pepino and Mann I tell y'all that drink was so so good, Get it on your next visit, thank me later . Overall the staff was amazing per usual and The owner Juan Carlos stopped by our table to make sure we was good, an awesome man. We will be back soon to try the other dishes as well. The Outside The Masa food truck finally made it to a location! What's even better they're three minutes from home. Locally owned this place definitely has a mom&pop feel to it, which I love! Owner was very pleasant and checked in on us a couple times. The birria is full of flavor, definitely a go to for brunch. We looked the place up prior to our travels and the menu looked good so we stopped in. From entering the restaurant we were greeted promptly. We told them we were traveling and got great recommendations from the waiter. Everything was so delicious. We had the birria nachos and the order de tres which is basically their quesabirrias. AMAZING birria, homemade tortillas and the consume was on point. We will definitely be back when we travel to the area again! read more

The atmosphere was really wonderful! When you walk in, you are greeted by the employees and asked whether you want to dine in or take out. If you choose to dine in like I did, you were able to sit down wherever you'd like and were helped by a waiter. This is like a fast dining area but regardless, the waiter was super sweet and spoke English and Spanish! The staff was friendly and I loved the food so much! I had come across this business from the Tamale festival and was happy to find them located nearby to try. I definitely recommend here. read more

I finally made it out to this Hidden Gem!! It did NOT disappoint! We ordered the Special of the day; a Chilaquil Burrito, also some Tamales de Birria and Los 3 de Siempre. To drink we had their Horchata de Datil and a Jamaica... so refreshing and tasty! The quality of the food is just a whole other level of delicious. Cleanest servings of Birria without all the excess grease on the plate. Everything was seasoned and salted perfectly. Our order was to go so all the sides/toppings were individually wrapped and packaged neatly! The service was great too, as soon as you walk in, you are greeted with a smile and a welcome. I am so disappointed. I went back for Chilaquiles this morning. They were so good 4 days ago I decided to order again. It took 20 minutes for a to go order. There were only a few tables with customers. When I got home the chips were soggy & the egg was undercooked, including the whites. There was 1/2 the amount of beans. Apparently, the restaurant is owned by two cousins, their wives, and they pour their hearts into every dish. Upon arrival, the restaurant was bustling with locals in a causal setting, indicating that the food is truly exceptional. We had a 10-minute wait, but it flew by as we eagerly perused the menu. Our server, one of the owners' daughters, was incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was simply delicious. The portions were generous, and the flavors were bursting with authentic Mexican taste. There's ample parking available in the lot in front of the restaurant, making it convenient for customers. If I find myself craving Mexican food again during my next visit to Palm Springs, Los Primos will definitely be my go-to spot.

Took forever to receive our food and we knew for a fact it's because all our plates sat a while until we were served. The actual plates weren't even warm and the sizzling fajitas had sizzled out and lost its dazzle. The Birthday Boy was a little frustrated and got up a few times from his throne seeking assistance -- such as missing tortillas for meals, water refills, extra napkins. We even had to wait longer than anticipated for them to acknowledge the bday boy with a celebratory bday song & sombrero...and the fried ice cream, which didn't include a candle. Tho we all enjoyed ourselves and time together...a 2 hour dinner at a Mexican joint on a Wednesday night wasn't what we anticipated. Especially with one restless 7 year old ;-) But everyone working at Casa Mendoza is very friendly with great attitudes. Hostess team, waiters, servers & runners too. So that made up for the spotty service, just a little bit. Since I'm closer to the other Casa Mendoza in Palm Desert, I'd go there in the future with my wife, and order the exact same thing. Ran into them at the C.O.D. street fair and I was hooked. A deconstructed tamale, 3 birria tacos, and a beef birria quesadilla put me over. Also, very very skimpy on the cheese, I couldn't even find it. The beans were very clumpy refried beans, I'm not entirely sure if they're canned or yesterday's beans half reheated. Ultimately, for $9 it was adequate and for a hearty meal I would recommend it, just don't go in expecting anything ground breaking. I will return for the tamale bowl soon.
