I've been living near this restaurant for its whole existence, finally got to try it out today! Loved the pho, the banh mi, and garlic noodles (think they could have used more garlic and spice). I thought the food came out quickly enough but out of order, I think all three of us got our mains before we got our appetizer. There's an extensive menu so I already know what I would like to try next time! We need some music in here. The ambience was seriously lacking, if you like to eat pho in a quiet setting that's fine. But when we went in there were 5 groups of people eating, they were all talking low because of how the place was already quiet. Almost no words exchanged between staff, no bustling sounds of the kitchen, no music. It was very awkward! Not sure if I caught them on a bad day or what? Best service, best food I've enjoyed now twice! We just went to Teleferic Barcelona in Walnut Creek and their shrimp were awful and prices were high. To compare - Ov Asian 'knows' how to cook seafood to perfection, noodles too, and their sauces are incredible! Had a smoothie and my husband had wine and both were totally wonderful! Prices are very reasonable so you can relax and just enjoy! This is now our go to place. North Livermore has moved up many notches with this wonderful restaurant in our area! I don't normally review after only one visit, but they requested, and it could be weeks before I get back to Livermore. I really liked this place. I've been to many first days where a restaurant just wasn't prepared; none of that happened here. The service was incredibly friendly and helpful, it was obvious that they already had a good rapport with people, the food took less than ten minutes to come out, and the blended tea was just wonderful. The lemongrass fried basa was just absolutely incredible. I don't normally like onions, and they certainly don't agree with me, but they were both essential and amazing in this dish. Worth it! Oh, and they put on some great bouncy dance music, but not too loud, that was awesome. I'd say their opening day was quite the success. They asked for honest critique so on reflection, the one and only thing I can fault them for is the salad. It's just plain chopped romaine, a slice of tomato, and a few carrot strips on the plate. There's essentially no flavor to it, especially compared to the rest of the meal, and it's very hard to spear on a fork as presented. Putting it in a small bowl might help, but I think it needs reworking overall; treating part of the entree as an afterthought brings down the whole entree. The better salads I've had at Vietnamese restaurants are cut much finer and have some bean sprouts or glass noodles to add more texture. read more

Came here on a whim after visiting a pumpkin patch since my sons requested pho. We ordered their pho tai with the steak on the side... yes, my little guys like the rare steak and cook it in the broth themselves. They enjoyed their dinner. I was able to sneak in a bite and the broth was very clear and very tasty. I, on the other hand, ordered the shrimp and egg roll vermicelli bowl which was just OK. It came with 4 tender pieces of shrimp and 2 subpar eggrolls that were not completely stuffed with filling. I would actually prefer the skinnier eggrolls that are filled to the max. The nuoc mam wasn't very tasty either and I had to request another to add. It seemed a bit watered down. Prices are a little steeper than usual here. I contemplated ordering one of their specialty teas, but they were almost $6 a pop so I opted out. During the dinner, though, we had asked for a high chair and had to wait about 10+ minutes until it was brought to us. Not sure where they store the high chairs but it looked like the server was waiting to access a room to get it.... maybe the bathroom?? Not sure if we would come here again. read more

My family and I just randomly came across this restaurant and we are so happy we did! The food was amazing! Every single one of us really enjoyed our dishes. I had the Shaking Beef and the meat was so tender. It was still tender when I ate my leftovers. The staff were very nice and accommodating. The boba drinks were yummy too. Prices are very reasonable. The food didn't taste like authentic Vietnamese. For the price, I expected more. I ordered Bo Kho (Vietnamese spicy beef stew noodles). The color and flavor wasn't there. Seems "Americanized", probably will not return to try anything else. My friend ordered Pho and I certainly didn't smell the broth when the food was delivered. we decided to try Ovasians out with their Valentine's Day special. Starts with a spring salad, clam chowder then moved on to a rib eye steak and lobster tail and garlic noodles. It ended with 2 petite mousses. I won't go into each part of the menu, but it was all delicious. We were impressed w the flavors and preparation. the rib eye was a perfect medium, the garlic noodles were perfectly done and the lobster was great. It was take out so the main entrees were on the cold side, but I can't knock them for it, it was really cold tonight. Will definitely go back and I hope they offer prix fixed menus. Conveniently located on N. Vasco, I can see this place as a quick stop to pick up dinner before we head home. Our first visit was on a Wednesday and it just so happened to be during Happy Hour (M-F 3pm-6pm) where everything on the menu was 20% off!! All the food was delicious!! On Saturdays they have a special dish called Lobster with Garlic Noodles, so we told the owner we had come back with the family and try it. On on our 2nd visit we took the family for dinner. Our meal consisted of the salt & pepper shrimp, the grilled mussels, Udon Noodle Soup, and my husband and I shared the Lobster with Garlic Noodles. The owner sent out a complimentary order of the Grilled Oysters and let me tell you the grilled mussels were good But the Grilled Oysters were Awesome!! We could have had another plate of that!! Oh and before I forget the Specialty drinks we tried: Tropical Fruit Tea - Loved it! Very refreshing and has fresh fruit Peach & Lemongrass tea - Loved it!
