Been here a couple of times now. Solid 4/5 for me after these visits. The first visit was amazing - staff friendly and quick, food hot and to order, and inside was as you would hope for. Second trip lacked a little bit to that, with all the bread we were given (biscuit, muffin, etc) being a bit on the overly done side. The wait to get things was a little long...I know crowds sometimes can slow things down, so we took that in stride. Inside both times was clean, although I did have to repair the toilet for myself to ensure it flushed (handle was off), hope that made the day easier for someone else lol. We were staying in Clifton for a handful of days but found this finer. We ended up eating there three times. We had chicken and waffles for breakfast which were excellent. Only order them if you have a huge appetite as you get half a chicken. My husband got the meat lovers omelet with biscuits and gravy and loved it. Ask for crispy hash browns. Another meal I ordered the pot pie and it has a layer of cheese between the pie crust and chicken and vegetables. What a happy accident. My husband ordered the open faced turkey and loved it. Tons of flavor. We both ordered omelets the last meal. Mine had daunted vegetables, ham and cheese. I knew to order the hash browns crispy and they were superb. read more

Before I review the food, the service we received from Brandy was outstanding. We had an issue as the young hostess was so busy checking her personal cellphone that she took our cellphone number down incorrectly. Said 1/2 hr wait- after 45 minutes, we went back in and yep they texted wrong number- we were quickly seated. Apologies came from several staff and Manager came over also. I admired that. Very nice to have this as an option here. Just wish they'd opening in Maryville - but it's worth the drive. I had the breakfast platter and was able to upgrade to try the cookie butter pancakes. This was our first visit. We tried their signature Fish & Chips. It's was very good, fresh fish not frozen. You can see and taste the difference. The coleslaw was a nice change, not too sweet. The fries were cooked perfectly, crispy and lightly seasoned. The service was friendly and professional. Penny was our server. The atmosphere was art deco diner style. Was supposed to go around lunch time but I slept in. Mom fussed at me to get up and go with her because she was hungry and got ready in 10 minutes so I was a bit moody getting there. I wouldn't do takeout. I've been to Metro diner before and everything was really good. However, this morning I needed to do curbside and it did not go well. I was able to order online easily however when I arrived, with no marked curbside spaces to pull into, I called the number provided...no one answered and the message said to keep trying back. I decided to go in to pick up my order. There was little apology, citing busyness (which did not seem apparent by the amount of available tables), as to why they did not answer the phone. I was told to proceed to another area to get my food. There I was told they were still waiting on part of my order, but the remainder of my food was sitting out. I only waited a few extra minutes and then was given my order. I live about 10 minutes away, and everything was cold. Again, dine in is good, but I they don't seem to have their carry out (and definitely not their curbside) figured out. They should take a look at their packaging for food travel, amongst other aspects of carry out/curbside. read more

Well we went for second try and this time on Sunday morning at 8:30am seated at bar area at kitchen. Counter was dirty with coffee stains. We waited for at least 7 minutes for a greeting or a server. Finally one of the cooks asked if we wanted to order or needed coffee. We opted coffee. He brought it to us holding the coffee cups by the rim as he stated his hands were stinky and dirty. WTH? Got the fish fry Friday and it was very very good and super affordable. The fish was crispy seasoned perfectly and the fries were also fantastic with great seasoning on them. It also came with a side salad with a very great blue cheese. Connie was our server and she was such a joy. The feeling of the restaurant is exactly what you want in a chill sit down place to go with family or friends. This was our 4th visit, and likely our last. In past the cheesesteaks were pitiful and club sandwiches unremarkable. The only thing my wife thought were okay were the ribs, comparing them to Applebees, but with a more funky, not in a good way, sauce. last night I had the shrimp and corn chowder which wasn't very good, and a bacon egg and cheese croissant which had zero flavor. My waitress, Maria, was so nice and the food was really good. By the time I thought about taking a picture, most of it had been scarfed down. But the best things about Metro Diner are the quality of their food and the value. Large portions of delicious foods. Three of us ate there today. My wife had a Belgian Waffle with fruit and said it may have been the best she's ever had. My mother in law loved the chicken salad croissant (side of coleslaw). Decided to try Metro Diner after seeing a TikTok saying the food was good. I got the fried chicken plate. I have to say that it was absolutely delicious. The chicken was crispy and so tender. The mashed potatoes were mashed with the skins and had a brown gravy. They were seasoned well. The green beans are steamed and still have a slight crunch. I really liked them. My son had the fish and chips with broccoli. The fish was flaky and breaded perfectly. The French fries were crispy and seasoned with just the right amount of salt. The broccoli was cooked perfectly. My daughter in law had the turkey plate and the turkey was tender and juicy. We also had the cheese curds which were really good and the apple cobbler which was delicious. I will be back. We loved this place. We went around 11:45 on a Sunday. Line was out the door. I asked how long for a table for two and the hostess said "25-45 minutes or I can seat you now at he counter." If you're offered this, sit at the counter! We were front and center watching the food prepared with busy front staff yelling "hands" as plates were going out quickly. We got to see every dish on the menu and it all looked delicious! Major Kudos to the kitchen staff and the guy with the thick Rhode Island accent making sure everything was perfect! We went for breakfast early on a Sunday when the crowds were small and enjoyed a fantastic breakfast. My only critique is the service was off par. It certainly was not crowded but our food sat at the pass over 5 minutes as our waitress walked past it 3x until we finally asked her to pick it up. She apologized but food sitting at the pass for 5+ minutes when you're only serving 2 tables is totally unacceptable. But the food made up for the shortcoming and thankfully wasn't cold.
