Its so easy to miss awesome spots like this one when you are a home body. Went to MD with the Mrs. We arrived early after reading a few reviews about how busy they can get, and im glad we did. Our waitress told us they were known for their chicken and waffles. Normally, not a big fan of mixing sweet and savory on same dish (Sue me, I know im weird). So happy I ventured away from comfort. The waffle and strawberry butter were very tasty. But, that chicken. Oh my. Delicious. My better half had the bacon avocado scramble. I had a little taste. It was creamy and warm and yummy. This restaurant is the absolute shiz, i really enjoy their breakfast (haven't tried their lunch) but i really cannot believe the absolute terrible pick up process. I've ordered here to go a handful of times and each time i'm waiting A MINIMUM of 15 minutes AFTER my "pick up" time. Today i've ordered to go at 11:00 AM and i'm still waiting on my order to be completed... it's 11:35. Mind you it was stated it would be ready at 11:15. There has been multiple pick up orders that have arrived after i have that have gotten their orders before me. It also took me 7 minutes to even get a servers attention because they chose to ignore me and seat everyone that came in after me. All together they were very polite and kind. Been here a couple of times now. Solid 4/5 for me after these visits. The first visit was amazing - staff friendly and quick, food hot and to order, and inside was as you would hope for. Second trip lacked a little bit to that, with all the bread we were given (biscuit, muffin, etc) being a bit on the overly done side. The wait to get things was a little long...I know crowds sometimes can slow things down, so we took that in stride. Inside both times was clean, although I did have to repair the toilet for myself to ensure it flushed (handle was off), hope that made the day easier for someone else lol. Favorites so far are the hot honey chicken and anything and all things eggs. Anyway, will be back and hoping we just faced a one-off on that day! SYOY! read more

Got the fish fry Friday and it was very very good and super affordable. The fish was crispy seasoned perfectly and the fries were also fantastic with great seasoning on them. It also came with a side salad with a very great blue cheese. Connie was our server and she was such a joy. The feeling of the restaurant is exactly what you want in a chill sit down place to go with family or friends. I wouldn't do takeout. I've been to Metro diner before and everything was really good. However, this morning I needed to do curbside and it did not go well. I was able to order online easily however when I arrived, with no marked curbside spaces to pull into, I called the number provided...no one answered and the message said to keep trying back. I decided to go in to pick up my order. There was little apology, citing busyness (which did not seem apparent by the amount of available tables), as to why they did not answer the phone. I was told to proceed to another area to get my food. There I was told they were still waiting on part of my order, but the remainder of my food was sitting out. I only waited a few extra minutes and then was given my order. I live about 10 minutes away, and everything was cold. Again, dine in is good, but I they don't seem to have their carry out (and definitely not their curbside) figured out. They should take a look at their packaging for food travel, amongst other aspects of carry out/curbside. read more

Wanted to treat myself to breakfast this morning and decided to give MD a try to see if it lived up to all the hype. It more than delivered! My waitress, Maria, was so nice and the food was really good. By the time I thought about taking a picture, most of it had been scarfed down. I ordered the meat lovers omelette and added mushrooms; grits, which were really delicious for a restaurant, and toast. The raspberry tea was on point as it was fresh-brewed and not sickeningly sweet. For the first time in a long time, I was able to eat just about everything on my plate. Decided to try Metro Diner after seeing a TikTok saying the food was good. I got the fried chicken plate. I have to say that it was absolutely delicious. The chicken was crispy and so tender. The mashed potatoes were mashed with the skins and had a brown gravy. They were seasoned well. The green beans are steamed and still have a slight crunch. I really liked them. My son had the fish and chips with broccoli. The fish was flaky and breaded perfectly. The French fries were crispy and seasoned with just the right amount of salt. The broccoli was cooked perfectly. My daughter in law had the turkey plate and the turkey was tender and juicy. We also had the cheese curds which were really good and the apple cobbler which was delicious. I will be back. But the best things about Metro Diner are the quality of their food and the value. Large portions of delicious foods. Three of us ate there today. My wife had a Belgian Waffle with fruit and said it may have been the best she's ever had. My mother in law loved the chicken salad croissant (side of coleslaw). We loved this place. We went around 11:45 on a Sunday. Line was out the door. I asked how long for a table for two and the hostess said "25-45 minutes or I can seat you now at he counter." If you're offered this, sit at the counter! We were front and center watching the food prepared with busy front staff yelling "hands" as plates were going out quickly. We went for breakfast early on a Sunday when the crowds were small and enjoyed a fantastic breakfast. My only critique is the service was off par. It certainly was not crowded but our food sat at the pass over 5 minutes as our waitress walked past it 3x until we finally asked her to pick it up. She apologized but food sitting at the pass for 5+ minutes when you're only serving 2 tables is totally unacceptable. But the food made up for the shortcoming and thankfully wasn't cold.
