We got the side of bacon when they gave us the check. No once could I find someone to fill up my coffee cup. We had to tell the person cleaning tables that our food was sitting under the warmer. They had no chocolate syrup for chocolate milk. Will not come back again. I didn't even mention the parking is non-existent. There are four parking spaces for the restaurant. We went here for brunch recently. As a party of two, we had about a 15/20 minute wait, as we expected for Sunday brunch. It's a small space, but cute decor. Food is delicious: the waffle dogs are a MUST! Our service was great too. We were asked kindly if we wouldn't mind moving one table over so they could accommodate a large party. I decided that Mother's Day with my grandparents and mother would be a perfect day to do so. I made sure we got there early enough to avoid the crowd. There were about 6 empty tables (not busy at all) and we got sat immediately. Unfortunately, we sat there for about 20 minutes while all the waitstaff completely ignored us. Had to finally ask a busboy to find out who our server is. He said he wasn't sure. The lady who sat us said to the busboy she didn't know who was our server either (not sure if she was the co-owner or manager or whatnot). She had to practically beg for someone to take the table. The place is a little crowded and you'll be sitting almost elbow to elbow with your neighbor, but it's friendly and kind of fun. Gotta say I was pretty disappointed in the French toast with "caramelized" bananas. I'm not a big French toast fan but our server encouraged me to order it saying that it was the dish that made them a star on television. The menu says "caramelized bananas" but really they aren't. They are fresh bananas with some very bland homemade caramel sauce on top. When I mentioned to the waiter that I thought the bananas were supposed to be caramelized, he said, "yeah, they're bananas in caramel sauce". Sorry, but that doesn't qualify as caramelized.... when I told him the "caramel" sauce wasn't really sweet and was more like a neutral gravy, he again countered the comment and said that customers had complained that they caramel was too sweet so they changed the recipe.... ok, fine, but it doesn't really qualify as "caramel" when it's almost neutral tasting, barely sweet. Just figured first timers should know this about their signature dish. The bread was so-so, the caramel sauce isn't sweet like you'd expect and the bananas are fresh sliced. The dish in my book was pretty bland and not worth spending the calories on. To make it up a very boisterous friendly man, probably the owner, brought me something else and really made it up with his attitude. Another plus is real maple syrup on the table in a squeeze bottle. Would I come here again? For the freshly made pancakes which were awesome, yes, but I'm a little skeptical now when eyeing other things on the menu since they are a little loosey goosey with the descriptions... I had the Avocado Benedict, which was absolutely perfect especially if you are not a carb lover, you don't even know if you are missing them. I also had the Lemon Ricotta pancakes and they were light and fluffy and very lemony, so if you like lemons you will love these. The place is casual and has a retro diner feel. We came on a Friday morning around 10am and there was about a 20 minute wait. Food (4 stars): Chicken fried steak! A must order item on the menu. Ground beef formed in a hamburger patty with a crispy shell since it was battered. The steak is smothered with a white gravy that contains onions and tiny pieces of sausages. The dish also comes with a choice of eggs and potatoes. I had the hashbrown and it was cooked to perfection! I love the outer layer of my hashbrown crispy and hate it when it is not cooked to that point. The fiancee had the loko moco and I had a couple bites. The loko moco is cooked hamburger patty smothered with dark gravy sauce under a bed of rice and topped with grilled onions and fried onions and finally a choice of eggs. The loko moco was decent but I did not prefer the flavors since the gravy tasted like red wine and parts of the rice was burnt. We ordered the caramelized bananas and pecan french toast. The fiancee hates bananas and asked our waiter not to include the bananas. But when the ordered came there was no sauce or pecans so I think there was a misunderstanding. We sent it back and asked for the sauce and pecan and let me tell you, if you do not like bananas, just order the plain french toast because the sauce also tasted like bananas. Another thing I tried that sounded interesting thing on the menu was the over easy iced coffee. The drink had too much cinnamon taste and did not have as much coffee or sweet flavor that I wanted. Service (3 stars): Our waiter was busy waiting on a lot of tables, if anything it seemed like he was the only waiter there! I felt bad for the guy. We had a problem with our order and another person had to fix the problem since our waiter was too busy. Ambiance (4 stars): Cute 50s style diner decor! The menu is also very cute. Paid a visit to this establishment just because it was featured in DD&D. Was not disappointed. I had the lox, onion scrambled egg and hubs had the corned beef hash and egg. In my opinion, it was the best breakfast we had so far, for the money. My scramble contained a LOT of salmon -- seemed like 1/3 of the scramble was salmon. I will NEVER RETURN to this location. I got breakfast to go based on an amazing Over Easy experience location in scottsdale. This location had multiple problems. When I arrived, I went to the bar to claim my to go food. The bag was sat in front of me and I then had to wait ten minutes until the person who took my phone order could personally check me out. In the mean time, no one checked on me or gave me my to go drink. So I had to sit there while my food got cold. I FINALLY got the hell out of there, only to arrive home to a subpar breakfast to say the least. Bacon burnt, eggs cold, and no butter on the toast.
