I had one of my best birthday dinner dinners at Buck and Rider tonight. We all had excellent food and I think my scallops are the best in the valley. The restaurant is lively, but you receive your order quickly and perfectly. Our waiter Chase took great care of us and offered suggestions and descriptions about the food. Chris came by to make sure everything was to our liking and to wish me a happy birthday. We all had a great time, a great meal and did not feel like they were trying to rush us out of the door. The food overall was pretty good. Fried chicken appetizer was standard. Nothing special Ceviche was good. Could use more spice but overall tasted fresh. Oysters were okay. I didn't get one and forgot to check to make sure they didn't charge me for it. Crab cake was very good. Lots of lump crab although I'd just call it more like a crab dish with bread flaks rather than a crab cake. Still delicious, but my vote is for g and m in Maryland for a traditional cake style with very little breading versus this for if you just want crabs. Service was very slow. It's hard with kids because you'll be there for a couple hours guaranteed. It's also pretty loud so I wouldn't recommend this spot if you have younger kids. Some girl friends and I went to buck & rider for AZ restaurant week and loved the menu offerings. You get so much good food for the price! I started with the voodoo fried rice which was amazing. I also got the filet mignon with broccolini which was so buttery. The steak melted in my mouth. We also got gelato for dessert with a cookie which was the perfect way to end the meal. Our server was very friendly and offered us plenty of time to figure out our orders between us catching up. We never ran out of water and they let us stay for a while after we finished our meal while we talked which was so kind. We sat inside which was nice. I'd never been before so I was surprised how spacious and how much seating this restaurant had. The only parking option outside is valet which made the experience feel even more luxe. First time trying this location and give yourself a couple extra minutes because it's valet only and it can get a bit backed up. It's complimentary and tip them of course. One of the best crispy tuna rice in the valley or ever. Came for restaurant week and great pricing especially if you get the filet. This is my favorite Buck & Rider location! I think they have the best food here and the best energy to go with it. It's usually always busy and super lively making this a perfect spot for any kind of celebratory meal or dinner and drinks before going out. People usually look super nice here too, so if you're into dressing up, you totally can here! But it can also be casual as well, so it's a nice mix. I really love the bar area and patio. I also love that they will let you get drinks at the bar and have them out front if there is a wait for your table. Service at all locations is always super attentive while not being overbearing. As far as food, the shrimp risotto is my personal fave and while it can be perfect sometimes and not as perfect other times, it is probably the best risotto I've ever had when it's seasoned just right. It lemony and bright with a little seafood flavor from the shrimp and super creamy, decadent rice. I also love any of their catch of the day items and of course all of their raw items from the seafood tower to the crudo. The cocktails too are super well balanced and compliment the food well. Parking is a bit challenging, but they do offer valet. Buck & Rider has one of the best happy hours in the Valley, so naturally, they were super busy when we arrived. Had such a great experience at Buck & Rider! I ordered the filet mignon (medium well) with broccolini, and it was cooked perfectly--so tender it practically melted in my mouth. Neither one of us had been there before. The ambience was "casual" and "fancy" all at once. Our "server" (I say server, but, "new friend" is more appropriate) Lauren, was in my opinion, one of the best Servers I've ever had!. She was attentive, knew the menu, so gave great advice! Happily surprised that we went here during happy hour. We arrived around 1pm on Saturday and we sat in the bar area. Our server was very friendly and she got really excited when we told her we were visiting from Texas. She said she was originally from Houston and she missed it. The vibe was energetic. Not too loud. Anyway, I ordered a couple of drinks, 4 oysters (2 different kinds), and 2 shrimp off the happy hour menu. The oysters were very fresh and the horseradish put them over the top. The man ordered calamari. All delicious and all relatively quick. For our mains I ordered the Florida striped bass and the man ordered a ribeye which was not on the lunch menu but he really wanted a steak and our server suggested it. The portion sizes were great. The food was delicious. Cooked just right. I can't take over cooked fish and the bass was perfect and perfectly seasoned. The ribeye was also cooked just right and seasoned very well- accompanied by the house made steak sauce which was a little sweet and tangy. No room for dessert but we did have two rounds of Fortaleza tequila. It was less expensive than back home, so this tequila girl couldn't pass that up. With tip we spent $315.
