I have heard good things about this place so I decided to check it out with my family. We waited over 30 minutes, which was to be expected seeing as we went on a weekend morning. However, people who came in after us were catered to and had finished eating before we were even seated. The waitstaff was a little rude when we confronted them about having us wait so long, which made for an unpleasant experience. As far as the food, the wait was just as long, if not longer once we were seated. I ordered a veggie omelette which came with home fries and toast. Everything was typical diner food. The omelette was stuffed with vegetables and the home fries were absolutely delicious! Overall, I had a fair to good experience, and was satisfied with the food. I would advise going at a less busy time, though. read more

Love this place. We come here after cycling up Mt. Wachusett and are always hungry. They serve all kinds of breakfast items and the kitchen is always great. Service is fast and kind too. There is sometimes a wait on the weekends. They have a self sign in waiting list system which is new to me. It does work though and the line moves along. Will definitely return. read more

Ive lived in sterling my whole life, came here to eat with my sister and both of us are chefs. The pancakes were okay. I ordered the stuffed french toast and it was gross. The filling was a huge chunk of cream cheese and it killed it for me. The home fries were literally boiled potatoes with dry herbs on them. I recommend more seasoning on everything! I love this town and its great to see a family bfast spot but the food and flavors definitely need upgrading! The prices are good, you get alot of food for a decent cost, and the service was also well. read more

Do yourself a favor or keep on driving to Michael's Bridge Diner in Lancaster. We walked in and the place was full with a full waiting room and it was literally silent. It was the most uncomfortable, odd setting I have ever experienced at a restaurant. Nobody pays attention to you and I am so thankful we didn't wait; after reading these horrendous reviews about the staff, it all makes sense. The staff was very rude and slow. They We're only friendly to the regulars. Our waitress, which seemed like she was the owner or manager on, was especially rude and unfriendly. Never asked how our food was, when I said thank you several times she never said your welcome and would just walk away. We had to sit for several minutes to be seated and get our check. We live in the area and have surveyed many of the breakfast spots. Always looking for someplace new to try, we stopped in. PRO: It's local to us. Charming, New England'y exterior. CON: Squeezed into table that was inches from the couples on either side. There were other open tables and spots at the small counter but we were seated almost in the laps of two other couples. The food was good, however the home fries were underwhelming, appearing to be some pan-cooked cubed potatoes with some onions tossed in. Nothing special. Eggs were done very well, and the toast was good (but we paid extra to get their homemade bread). I'm not sure you should have to pay .75 extra for decent toast with breakfast. Major problem with this venue was the service - or lack thereof. We got the obligatory serving of coffee (it's breakfast, right? Everyone gets coffee...) and after that, we didn't see the waitress until our food arrived and then... poof... she was gone. I shouldn't say gone, there were a number of waitstaff around, but they were more interested in the regular who stopped by with his kids. Not until we finally got our check did anyone ask if we wanted a refill of coffee. We tried to flag them down to no avail. If you're a regular, perhaps the service is better. We are locals but won't become regulars. read more

Just went here for breakfast, and while it was cute and the food was good, we had one of the rudest experiences at a restaurant I've ever had. We had finished and were just chatting for a few more minutes and the hostess actually asked us to leave because of people waiting for the table. Service was AWFUL!!!! Waited 20 mins to be seated and over 35 for our food. She also forgot to put my order in so it was and other 10 for mine. My husband had the omelet and it was yummy and I had a burger. Nothing special. Our waitress was rude and never came to check on us. Had to ask a different waitress for things throughout our lunch. So we wanted to go to breakfast and our old stand by was closed. We decided to try someplace new and so found ourselves at the Over Easy Cafe We entered and the cafe was basically empty except for perhaps 2-3 tables of customers. Do we seat ourselves, well maybe? Or do we wait and get stared at by the wait staff? Of course it was the latter and after a few seconds "Oh sit at one of the tables over there". Not a great first impression. So we're sitting and the menus are all on chalk boards in the cafe. So does this restaurant have menus? Do we order off what is written on the walls. Well they do have menus which eventually found their way over to our table. Now the cafe is quaint in a country kind of way. I was taken back by sitting directly in eye shot of the open kitchen. I hate open kitchens and I hate having to watch my food prepared. I like to think my food is magically prepared by elves somewhere than watch it being made. The Kitchen though appeared clean and organized and any fear of watching my food prepared was quickly put to rest. So I understand this is a family type place. I like to enjoy my breakfast and I like friendly servers. I found out more than I cared to about our server. She has terrible Restless Leg Syndrome and getting married and has to see a counselor that her mother wants her to go to. I wouldn't care about the chatter but she seemed bothered by the fact she had customers. Did she bring us our juice and meals in a timely fashion, yes she did. Did having to hear her complaints during breakfast annoy me, yes. I think it was the general lack of friendliness and I don't expect anyone to go out of their way or bend over backwards to be accommodating. So more importantly the food. It was great for a breakfast. The omelets were well cooked and wonderfully prepared- very fresh ingredients. The toast was a little over done but I can forgive that. The home fries were also just right. Overall I would return for the food but avoid going for the lack of service and overall "unfriendly" atmosphere the servers exuded. This place was exactly on our route to the hiking in Wachusett mountain. I usually love small and local places for breakfast, because thats where you will the best off all, food and people. Oh my, the place is a neat and cozy. Check. The food was quick and delicious. Check. I ordered an egg florentine and Strawberry french toast. Florentine was yummy and the french toast was out of the world. On top of that the people were super friendly. Check. I am hoping to go back there with my husband soon. If you're not a regular, then you may not appreciate the quirkiness that comes with this small, family-run business. Good food, but service was so bad I thought we were on a TV prank show. Server never said hi, never responded when we said thanks, and threw food down in front of us with anger. Really bizarre experience. Staff seemed to bickering amongst each other or something, but not sure. Just really strange atmosphere. This place is adorable on the outside. It's tucked into a hill and was all decorated for autumn when we were there. Inside it's like a small town diner and clearly a favorite with the locals; the wait staff knew half the people by name. We went on a Sunday around 9:30 and the wait was about 20 minutes, but there is coffee in the waiting lounge. The food itself was great - nice and simple, just like you'd expect from a diner but without all the grease. The ambience was cozy, friendly, and clean, and the decorations were just right. We highly recommend this place, particularly in the autumn and winter when you need a nice warm place to eat home-style cooking at its best. read more

The first time I went here, food was delicious, I got eggs, bacon and toast...I'm a simple gal. Service was good but we had to wait a good 15minutes to be seated. I think it was on a Sunday so, understandable. Once seated, waitress was attentive and food was good. Second time, we went on a Friday and parking lot was jam packed, we had to create a parking spot by parking off road...anyway, went in and saw some tables available yet we had to wait (10min) -.- this time I got the strawberry French toast and it was dry and I had to ask for maple syrup! That in itself took a while because waitress was not very attentive. Anyway, it a nice local place and I hope our next experience is a much more pleasing one. read more

Had read all of the reviews about the service so was reluctant. Went on Labor Day and there was about a 30 minute wait. Once seated the service was New England friendly! I had the Florentine Omelet which was excellent. My son had the raspberry cream cheese french toast and my daughter the almond joy pancakes, both excellent as well. My wife had the coconut and pineapple pancake which didn't have much flavor. Home fries were very good and the coffee average for a diner. All and all will certainly be back. My boyfriend and I go here all the time. It's warm and welcoming with amazing food. The service can be hit or miss depending on where you're seated. If you ask to get seated on the right hand side of the establishment, you'll be good. The only reason why I'm giving a 4 out of 5 is because on Sunday's they are so packed yet have an entire other room that they could fill. read more

We always enjoy eating here before or after morning hikes and skiing. They make you feel at home and the food is always delicious. From basic breakfast, unique omelets, sandwiches that include gluten free breads, homemade pies and good coffee, the Over Easy draws us back again and again. Their Reuben is my favorite at lunch. A wonderful ambiance decorated with tins and boxes of old favorites and pics of family and regulars make you feel a part of the family. read more

This is a beautiful restaurant in a quaint country setting with exceptional food and atmosphere. The breakfast menu is to die for and their lunch choices are great too. In the past I posted a review about some waitstaff that were grumpy; however, in the past several visits we have not experienced that and the waitstaff have been great. The owner is pleasant and sweet and goes out of her way to provide excellent service. Give this place a chance - it's a great breakfast spot! An excellent place for breakfast. Also the ice cream and frozen yogurt are the best I have ever had...my favorite was Wild Maine Blueberry...but I recently had the Milky Way...OMG! And there is cotton candy flavored ice cream as well. I highly recommend this establishment. On a fall day in October when the leaves are 'popping', stop by for at least coffee.
