A great place to eat, small enough to be comfortable but not to small,fast service and excelled choices

Great atmosphere, local gem. Food and service was excellent! Only downside, restaurant is cash only.

Food is always great, service is wonderful, and an old town atmosphere. Please don't change a thing!

This is a cross between a dive and a smarmy spot! Infrastructure is showing but have relatively new tables and chairs, while the walls are adorned with a mixture of local art, kitchen art, and photos of locals visiting. Parking can be treacherous if they are busy. This is cash only, but they have an ATM conveniently located inside. Beware the menu! The senior specials cost more than the equivalent on the regular menu (I will attach photo of this). I got number 2 with kielbasa. Eggs fine, potatoes non-remarkable. Scrambled eggs with cheese peachy. You have to ask for jelly, doled out in those little packets. Cream and ketchup come in little plastic round portions. The kielbasa came cooked black and swimming in grease. The signs of COVID dividers remain on the ceiling. Service was quite friendly. Locals of all types are easily spotted here. So, I would say this place is a cross section of America, hitting in between extremes. read more

We stopped on our way through the area for a quick breakfast. It wasn't quick but, fortunately, we weren't in a rush. It is a quaint hometown breakfast place. It was sweet to see how everyone knew each other and chatted across tables. They seemed understaffed which made it hard for the waiter to be attentive. We went for breakfast and I ordered the homemade corned beef hash and eggs. Upon the arrival of the food the corned beef hash was soo over cooked to the point of a dry cracker, or greasy sawdust, and was inedible. I asked the server to pleas take this off my bill and I will pay for the rest. When the bill arrived he stated " I took a couple dollars off, but for future reference that's the way it comes". Nobody would have eaten this food the way it was served. I have eaten and made corned beef hash too many times to count over my 58 years to have a 16 yo make this statement was surprising and insulting. A definite no go. I've been driving past here since I moved to Gardner. Finally got to stop this morning after getting blood drawn at Heywood Hospital(fasting!) It always looked busy when I drove down by. So first the negatives. It's noisy but most breakfast cafes are. Not self seating, no biggie. The flatware is incredibly cheap. No WiFi again no big deal. The prices seem steep for breakfast foods, however ... Now the good news. Omg greeted immediately by friendly owner. Coffee was good and piping hot. I ordered the 3 egg omelet I mean how can you make an omelette with only 2 eggs! But let me tell you next time I'll only order a 2 egg one! It came out quickly and was stuffed with corned beef hash and cheese. I asked for extra crispy home fries and they were! It was hot and delicious. I'll be back I'm sure. read more

As my boyfriend and I walked into the Westminster Cafe, I was a little worried. There were two servers serving 15 tables, the temperature felt like a mix between an armpit and a quick visit to grandma's house and the noise level wasn't ideal. Never-the-less, my boyfriend and I persevered, hoping that the food would make up for the atmosphere. And boy oh boy, did it. I ordered the 2-egg bacon/cheese omelet with cheddar cheese, which came with home fries, and my boyfriend got the "2-2-2" which had 2 pieces of sausage, 2 pieces of bacon, 2 eggs, and 2 pieces of sourdough toast. We both agreed it was one of the best breakfasts we'd had in a long time. My omelet had a great mix of cheese/bacon and was surprisingly large for being only 2 eggs. Typically I like my home fries to be crispy, but these were more potato-y, but were seasoned to perfection! Absolutely delicious! The coffee (while bottomless), was just mediocre in taste/flavor. The creamer ran out after a couple of pours and I had to stare down our waitress for about 10 minutes like an overly-caffeinated creeper, while she ran from table to table, clearly under-staffed. Overall, the food is what made this place 4-stars, but be warned that it is a cash-only facility and yes you will come out smelling like a giant pile of pancakes and bacon grease for a good two hours. read more

This place used to pretty good not so much stay away. Stopped in of Friday 16th for breakfast ordered biscuits and gravy took a bite and the gravy was rancid. Fast forward to Saturday vomiting GI issues sick as a dog for 4 days still not 100%. Went to doctor all the usual suspects eliminated doctor said food poisoning most likely. I don't ever leave negative reviews but would be remiss if I didn't not warn folks. Stay away from this place it used to be kind a dive but clean no longer. Been driving by this place for over a year now was hungry for lunch and I heard someone say the burger is good there. And it was got the bbq bacon burger was asked if I wanted mayonnaise on it ? I just looked and said it comes with bbq sauce on it correct? She says oh yes.... Burger came with Mayonnaise on it. Pfft... the fries were cold. They are the shoestring type so .... Idk cold fries are the worst. I ordered a side of home fries just to try them. They were hot and pretty good. I think lunch burger cold fries and home fries cost me $16 and some change. Eh. The staff is here so nice! It was my girlfriend's birthday and they brought her a free chocolate cake and ice cream. I've been here probably like 3-4 times and it's such a lovely little place. No wait times, the waiters are on top of it and the food is decent! Portion sizes are huge. Would definitely recommend it. read more

Westminster cafe is a great local joint. We were in town for a convention, and needed some local breakfast. Yelp helped us find this place. Wait on a Saturday morning wasn't too long, and the staff was super friendly. My gf said the coffee was passable, but not great. I would expect no less in a tiny local like this. She had the biscuits n gravy, I went with the house special omelette. Both were huge. HUGE. Like, overflowing the plate. The omelette was great, the biscuits, were OK. For what it is, where it is, it was good. I loved the local crowd, and the staff was great. 4 solid stars. read more

I've been wanting to give eat here for a while, finally did and was surprisingly disappointed. My boyfriend enjoyed his meal, which was pancakes, eggs and bacon. Although I enjoyed the homefries, I was super disappointed with my omelette. It was a broccoli, ham and cheese. The broccoli tasted frozen. My boyfriend however really enjoyed his meal. He had pancakes, eggs, bacon and home fries. He said the pancakes were excellent. I plan to give the restaurant another try in the future. Most likely wouldn't get a veggie omelette though. read more

We stopped here on a whim. Nothing special...could be cleaner. The bathroom in particular was not clean. We ordered breakfast. I tried to swap out homefries for corned beef hash (I was willing to pay extra). The server told me the $3.45 meal would cost $10.00 with the substitution so I might as well get the homefries (which I didn't want). The server told the chief waitress/hostess/person-in-charge, but they were apparently unwilling to make a reasonable accommodation. We canceled our order, paid $3.50 for two coffees, and left. Oh well... In this day and age, when restaurants are struggling to survive, I am regularly surprised by places who refuse to put the customer first. read more

Pains me to give a bad review to what should be a WONDERFUL place. *Cash Only* The back side of the cafe is the restaurant's ice cream window where in the summer you get the best ice cream on the face of the planet shoveled into your cones. The other side through a narrow door, is the cafe serving breakfast and some small lunch items. My bf and I are new to Westminster so we have only been twice , but sadly the last time was surely the last. The ice cream is the only reason we stopped in, as its not much from the outside, and for whatever reason they had a huge storefront window that was broken on one half but didn't bother replacing it for many many months.. sorta off putting. So I was kind of taken aback when we saw the inside looks like it used to be a convenience store or movie rental place cause the walls are a cold, white (stained) cinderblock brick There are some cutely country decorations on the wall, at the diner counter and scattered here and there. The seating is really not comfortable and reminiscent of a military cafeteria... in like the worst way possible.. just old and run down furniture from a 1960s kitchen set.. ya know the ones with the shiny metal edges.. yeah.. bleh. How about a warmer update? Or ya know a couple rugs to take away from the loud drit scraping sound of boots on tile or aid the echoing that the drop ceiling doesn't help... while we eat? Waitress both times (different each time) was super polite and nice but always forgot something and had to wait for the change to be made (side of bacon, forgot cheese on the eggs, forgot toast etc.) And I noticed that most of the people here are a bit on in their years and/or regular and very very local. The waitstaff is far more concerned with chumming it up with these guys than paying much mind to new comers. In fact the looks me and my bf got (yeah we aren't the Time Magazine Couple of the year) upon walking in were enough to put some people off, but thing is 1.) IDGAF 2.) I'm hungry. Well its too bad cause the food is halfway decent and the portions are large . Omelettes are always too big to finish and they heap the homefries on the plate for sure. He had a breakfast sandwich and he was trying to be nice after 4 bites and say he was full but I knew he probably tasted better at McDonalds. The two times I went I asked for Cheddar and I got American - had be sent back and redone while he ate and I waited then ate quickly. Stopped in for breakfast this morning. It was a busy Saturday. Service was still quick. Both taking our order and delivering the food. Waitstaff very friendly. Food was good and plentiful. My grand-daughter had the biggest Mickey pancake I've ever seen. I loved the grilled kielbasa as a meat option. Inside is bigger than you'd think when driving by so don't let the crowded parking area deter your visit. I'd estimate seating for about 50. We will be back for sure. read more

Biscuits & Gravy! Get the half order unless you're sharing or training for an eating competition. The gravy was unique and amazing...plenty of onions and breakfast sausage. It was the "freshest" tasting I've ever had and I spent 4 years living in the South. My little one loved the French Toast, but he didn't care for the corned beef...not sure why, it was good...actually made here! read more

Had a couple of great egg sandwiches here with really nice service and some delicious pancakes too.

This was fabulous, and we truly enjoyed everything from the start. The greeting was warm and friendly and the coffee was delicious. We both had omelets. One of us had the 3 egg omelette with sausage, cheese and spinach... every bite had all 3 components and delicious! The potato were homemade and delicious, the gluten free toast was better than regular bread, my partner had the sausage bomb omelette and it was truly scrumptious. We live a long ways from here and only stopped by because of where we were visiting, but this place would truly be worth coming back to for itself in and of it's self. read more

This is our favorite breakfast place near our home. Usually go at least twice a month. Love the hash and omlettes.

Muffins were HUGE. Hash and cheese omelette had nice thin egg covering and stuffed full of hash and cheese. Sausage gravy and biscuits were quite good (and large) as well. Overall a very good breakfast. Will head back again. read more

A great local breakfast spot. A must try when you are in Westminster. We ordered the house special omelette and the veggie omelette. Both were more than enough food and very affordable. The omelettes had 3 eggs, toast, and home fries. The waitress kept our coffee cups hot and full. We were too full to try any of the sweets, but the muffins and ice cream looked delicious. I've been to this place twice and it's been good both times. It's almost missable on Rt 2A as it's on a turn but if you can find it, stop in. I had the Blackstone benedict which was poached eggs on english muffins with sliced tomato and bacon and covered in hollandaise. It came with home fries. It was good. I scraped the plate clean. I had to edit my review. The food made up for the mediocre service last time however I just went back and it was not the case. Our waitress was quick with our menus but when it came time to order she informed me that they were out of the one thing I wanted. This would have been fine except she stood there almost annoyed while I quickly tried to pick something else. It would have been better if she had given me another minute to look over the menu. She didn't make eye contact with me the rest of the time we were there. The homemade hash was the reason we returned and what my boyfriend ordered. This time it looked and tasted as though it was mixed with canned hash, and the rest of our food was over salted. This place is ok. I wouldn't really recommend it but if your in a bind and need something quick it's ok. The service isn't that great and the food is mediocre. I will say that the girl bussing the tables was extremely friendly (more than the rest of the staff combined) and even checked with us when she saw we were waiting for our check. read more

We stopped for breakfast at the Westminster Cafe while driving from Boston to Montague MA. It was a perfect halfway spot for a quick meal. Homey and really delicious. A couple of us had a classic breakfast and one had a turkey club - all were DELICIOUS. If you're leaving Boston (skipping the Pike (always recommended)) in the morning and heading west, make time for the Westminster Cafe! read more
