Four vents and they wanted to charge another $100 to "sanitize" it- when all along they reeked of cigarette smoke. They declined cleaning bathroom fan cover and stated they were not trained to do fan. When it came time for payment they changed the name to "Indoor Air Quality"- and when I wrote the wording in a reverse order on the check, they said that's okay and left. No address no phone number on the receipt which simply was titled "Air Duct Cleaning Services". They were here for 15 minutes. And trying to access the "Angie Review" site under their original text message proclaiming the company's name "Colorado Chimney Sweep " had been blocked to my access. BBB gave them an "F". Scam artists at best!

The guy tried to give me a refund to delete the review. I told him I do not take bribe.

Despite some of the negative reviews I read about Breathe Fresh, I decided to hire them because most of the bad reviews were not that recent. I spoke with Bobby on the phone and he gave me a quote to clean our air ducts, fireplace and chimney. The next day I texted him to schedule the service and at the end he asked me to text him the address and the price he quoted me. I thought that was strange. Even more strange is that I was asked again the day of by Jon, who actually did the service, as he didn't know what the quoted price was either. Furthermore, Jon also had to ask me what service was being performed. Jon was great! He explained everything as he was doing it and showed me some before and after photos. The one knock on the actual service is that Jon left all of our vents closed, which I did not discover until a couple days later when I realized that the heater was running more often and for longer than usual. I didn't expect this because he ran the fan for almost 20 minutes before leaving to "get the air circulating." Not sure much was circulating though given the closed vents, but that's not the reason for the 2-star review. Keep reading... The first fire I burned in the fireplace after the cleaning resulted in a smokey odor in the house the next day. It was fine while the fire was burning, and I'm certain the damper was open, so I don't believe this to be an error on my part. I'm not claiming it has anything to do with the work that Jon did (or didn't do), but I contacted Bobby to share this info with the hopes that they'd come out to investigate. It had been a week since I burned a fire, but the odor didn't diminish despite the damper being closed and windows being opened during the day. Instead, I developed a cough and my eyes burned. I explained this to Bobby in my communication with him, but it didn't spark any urgency on his end. The timeline of our communication was as follows: Tue 12/12 @ 12:55 pm: I texted Bobby informing him of odor and asking for a good time to chat on the phone. Wed 12/13 @ 9:10 am: I called and left a message for Bobby since I got no response to my previous day's text. Wed 12/13 @ 5:49 pm: Bobby calls and leaves a voicemail, apologizes for missing my call earlier, and says to call him back or text for a faster response. I was at a holiday party, so was unable to answer or respond that evening. Thu 12/14 @ 10:15 am: I text Bobby (as instructed by his voicemail) and gave him a couple time slots in which I'd be available for a call that day. It is now 5:54 pm on Fri 12/15 and I still have not heard back from Bobby. Unfortunately I've had to hire another company to come out and investigate the potential causes for the odor, and I regret having hired Breathe Fresh in the first place. Based on reviews, it appears that Breathe Fresh does great work most of the time. In this instance, I'm discouraged by the lack of follow-through and the apparent disregard for quality customer service.

I'm glad they caught it, as I never would have known. The following time I had them take out my cast iron insert so we could use the full fireplace. Which they did and sealed up any cracks, along with putting a flue on the top and getting me all set. The last time he came out was to install a front to my fireplace. Every time he's been out, he's been helpful with his knowledge, offers recommendations, he's friendly. I'm not sure what average prices are for the things I've requested, (I mean how much is it to take out a cast iron fireplace?), but I'm happy with the work he's provided me with. And for just the regular cleaning of the chimney, I believe the cost to be fair. He's not just cleaning the chimney, he's also looking for potential issues. I'll have him back for regular cleanings.

They cleaned the as-it-turns-out very dirty chimney, told me a couple pending problems and what it would cost to fix them, without trying to upsell me that day. Very good. The price was exactly what they'd told me ($199), both guys were nice, professional, covid-safe, and efficient, and they certified my fireplace for use. Their only suggestion was to call another company that has a reputation for being horrible. This used to be a reputable company, but now they have new management that is part of another big "group". It is hard to find anyone who is willing to do this work; no one seems to be familiar with the powered anode rods. I was referred to them by Yelp Projects. They responded almost immediately to my Yelp request, and were able to come out the next day. Their communication is excellent; I got numerous messages confirming my appointment and letting me know the technician was on the way, as well as a follow-up call to check that everything was satisfactory. My only gripe (for which I knocked off a star) is that they are very expensive, even as plumbers go. They charged $857 for a 1-1/4 hour job, for which I provided the materials. One nice feature, though, is that they do flat-rate pricing based on the job and not on time, so you know in advance how much it is going to cost.
