This boutique hotel is my favorite hotel ANYWHERE!! I consider it my home away from home when traveling for work and love it for vacation time, too! The decor is warm, modern and inviting! The bell and valet service (Steve, Charlie and Jason and new guy (I can't remember his name) is off the charts with welcoming efficiency and friendliness!! Everyone in Reception demonstrates a fantastic welcoming hospitality and especially Tatiana! She went above and beyond to welcome me this recent trip! Casey in Room Service did a splendid job of taking care of me! Also, the Ten Below Restaurant and Bar is a warm and cozy hide-away I love to frequent and the quality and service is amazing! All in all, I LOVE the Oxford Hotel in Bend and have recommended it to many of my friends who have all raved about their visits there! We stayed in Bend earlier this month and I chose this property specifically based upon the reviews it received. It did not disappoint. From the moment we walked in, my family and I were treated as valued guests. Every single person on staff - from the front desk to the maintenance staff to the servers at the restaurant - were quick to acknowledge us and seemed genuinely friendly. A couple instances I observed - the bellman RAN to open to the door for us on one occasion. On another occasion, I came in from a run and a hotel staff member immediately figured this out and asked if I wanted some water? I actually did and he grabbed me a bottle of water. Honestly, when I left, I turned to my husband and said, "you know, I can't think of a single bad thing to say about this hotel." He agreed. We've stayed at many, many hotels over the years, so this is saying a lot. Besides the service, the location is great, and the beds are SUPER comfortable (my husband insists it's the most comfortable bed he's EVER slept on). We will absolutely make a point to stay here again the next time we come to Bend. read more

This hotel is new and cool. I highly recommend it. Rooms are super nice. Fitness room has a hot tub, sauna, and steam room. Service is good. Staff is friendly. It is probably a five star but some small staff issues make it a 4 1/2 star. For example we were not asked if we wanted a newspaper in the morning, so there wasn't one ordered for us. Who knew we had to ask? Small issue, but still a miss. Bigger miss was that when I got home I noticed that my bill was wrong. I didn't check it at the desk because the very nice front desk person folded it before handing it to me and I put it in my bag. I called and the miss was fixed quickly. So just a few small problems keeping it from being a 5 star, but I WILL return to this overall great hotel. read more

I frequently travel for work and I have stayed in a variety of boutique hotels. This one stands apart from the crowd. Is is conveniently located in downtown Bend and so a multitude of restaurants, night spots and shopping are all within easy walking distance. Self-parking is available and they have valet at a reasonable price by hotel standards. The check-in experience in the lobby was pleasant and relaxed. The room was beyond gorgeous with many nice little touches, such as a french press for coffee, a nice sitting area and a beautiful bathroom. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever experienced. I did not try the on site restaurant, 10 Below, but I will during my next visit. I travel to Bend for business periodically and I will definitely be staying at the Oxford. read more

First time visit to this hotel in Bend. Loved the small intimate size of this hotel, and the staff was welcoming and attentive. Made our pets feel welcome and even remembered their names :) Rooms were beautifully appointed with plenty of space. The location was wonderful. Lots of small shops and eateries with in walking distance. Our only negatives would have been the lack of grassy area for the dogs, and the pet fee; however, neither one would prevent us from returning. LOVED our stay at the Oxford. We took advantage of one of the best Living Social deals around. A suite along with all kinds of add ons made this one fabulous time. Staff was super friendly, our room was beautiful (including a steam shower!). Really, just such a great stay that I was (literally) depressed when we checked out. Stayed last Saturday and Sunday nights, what an amazing hotel. The service alone makes this one of the best properties I've ever stayed and I've been around the world many times at the best of the best. The staff at the Oxford are second to none from everyone we had contact with. The atmosphere/architecture/decorum is wonderful and very comfortable, the rooms are standard high-end hotel rooms but the nuances within made ours (and I'm sure all others) so extra special, the amazing beds, swivel chairs, shower, counter-top for the sink, etc. The location is great, right in downtown Bend and perfect for walking to the amazing shops and restaurants. Can't say enough about this place, it's rated the third best hotel in its' class and I think it deserves that. read more

We have had such a great time here! The Oxford is clean and modern yet not pretentious one bit! The staff are lovely and always address Lula (our dog) by her name. They even give her a nice travel bowl made by Ruff Wear. We will definitely be back. My only tiny issue is that you can't leave your pet in the room alone, however they do offer to find a local dogwalker for us. read more

We stayed here for four nights while my husband was working. It is in a great location as everything downtown (restaurants, shops, post office, you name it) is within walking distance. The staff is very friendly and go out of their way to help make your stay perfect. The rooms are modern, beautiful and very large. My husband and I spent a week in August at the Oxford Hotel-- our experience was a 10 out of 10!! Downtown location was wonderful- we could walk to all the restaurants and stores. We loved the decor- the beds,pillow choices and large rooms with seperate seating area with flat screen tvs. Room decor is chic too. I thought the staff at the hotel was so friendly and went the extra mile to make our stay exceptional- especially the bellman/valet guys. Our Rotary club recently held our annual Charter night party at the Oxford Hotel. Special twist this year was a themed Academy Awards Murder Mystery. It was a blast! I actually have enjoyed the Oxford for years. However, we learned of a new policy they have started and it stinks. If you show up before 4, the official checkin time, they will require you to pay an additional $20 for the privilege of checking in early even if your room is ready! I find this policy disturbing. I travel for business and most often my wife accompanies me. She will now just have to sit in the lobby killing time unless we want to pay another $20 for a room that already is among the highest priced in Bend. I had thought of the Oxford as a class act but I am thinking of Spirit Airlines now...extra fee for seat, bag, carryon, bathroom access. Nice hotel, superb staff. We stayed here one night each direction on our trip. The first night, the ice machine in the refrigerator had a leak. I had to throw a towel on the floor to soak up the water. Not a big deal. French press coffee and high end tea choices for my wife were appreciated. They do have a choice of five different kinds of pillows, which is a good thing. The standard pillows were not comfortable. And for those with back problems, the beds are way too soft. I woke up with a back ache each morning. All in all, a nice place with excellent service. I would stay here again. read more

The Oxford Hotel earns a 5 star rating from me for two reasons; the hotel itself, and its location in Bend. Our first impression of the Oxford was that it was a delightfully charming boutique hotel. The decor is a mix of rustic-modern; and our room was absolutely lovely. The first thing I did was fill the large soaker tub with bubbles, and soak off the 8 hour drive that brought me to Bend. I could have stayed in that tub all day! The BED was amazing. Extremely comfortable, lots of different pillows to choose from. I would venture to say that this was the number one most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in. The room had a seperate work/office/living room/ tv area, and our room had a view straight out into downtown Bend.Loval magazines provided let us find restaurants that we wanted to try and gave us a good feel for activities to try. I could peek out and see coffee shops, yoga studios, and book stores, but I still felt that we had some privacy in our room. The hotel is located in the heart of Downtown Bend, and it is surrounded by fabulous restaurants, cute shops, and just blocks away from Mirror Pond. The hotel is beautiful, luxurious, and clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the location can not be beat. read more

Unfortunately we did not have the chance to stay at this hotel, but if our experience with trying to book a room is any indication, we don't want to. My husband and I have been looking for an upscale hotel to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary, and a recent acquaintance recommended that we visit Bend,OR (we are new to the Oregon area). While trying to book a room online, we realized that their booking system would not allow us to book a one-night stay, so my husband called the hotel directly. The operator informed him that they have a 2-night minimum. He told her that it was our 1st anniversary and we are only able to get away for 1 night (we are both professionals and cannot take more than 1-2 days off from work). Rather than offering him another option, she asked why we couldn't stay for 2 nights. He told her again that we only needed/wanted a one-night stay. He asked if it was possible to book a one-night stay in the event of a cancellation, and she told him that such a reservation would only be possible within a few days of the event. This being our 1st anniversary, we are not waiting until the last minute to make our vacation arrangements. She wrapped up the conversation by simply saying that they could only accommodate us if we made a 2-night commitment. At that point my husband ended the call. I understand that this is their policy, and I also understand that times are tough in the business world. Having a 2-night minimum ensures higher earnings for their hotel. However, I do find it disappointing that they would rather flatly turn away customers instead of trying to accommodate them in some way, even if it means bending the rules a little. Not to sound like we're trying to garner favors, but it IS our 1st anniversary. Anyone with a heart should recognize that this is a special occasion which deserves a little extra attention. So long Oxford- we'll be taking our business elsewhere. read more

HOTEL REVIEW # 173 I stopped writing domestic hotel reviews as I see little reason to be the 300th review and domestic review are no where near as fun as international. However, since this is the first review, I thought I would share my experience. MY TRAVEL STYLE: If possible, I try to stay away from business hotels and strongly prefer resorts that resemble the Four Seasons, Aman, and Oberoi but try to find similar properties at lower cost. I seek out the "wow" experiences and I encourage you to view hotels I have stayed at and their respective reviews (by clicking on my name). LOCATION: Perfect. Most hotels are away from downtown. Downtown is VERY charming but a bit small. It's a picture perfect town with tons of restaurants, shops, and bars and this hotel is right in the middle of it. TYPE OF ROOM: Standard room. This would be a suite at any other hotel. Two TVs with a separate living room area. I actually asked the receptionist if I was upgraded to a better room and was told my room was standard.... That's impressive. BED/SHEETS/PILLOW: The bed is more on the harder side than softer side but I found it near perfect (perfection being the W hotel bed). I do think the pillows were too thick and I was surprised that they were not down filled. Sheets were good but short of luxurious (maybe they are just too new?). LIGHTING: Tons of light in both the bedroom living room area, and bathroom. BATHROOM/SHOWER: Beautiful. Shower had medium water pressure and consistently hot water. The towels are the nicest I have seen in a hotel in a long time, incredibly soft. TOILETRIES: This is a weakness here. Although the products are high quality, they do not provide individual bottles. It's large bottles that were once used by previous guests. Not what I would expect given how great the rest of the room and hotel is. CLEANLINESS: This place is a few weeks old, it's perfectly clean. A/C: Didn't use as I stayed here during the winter. CLOSET SPACE: There are two closets and plenty of space for two people to unpack most if not all items. STYLE OF ROOM: The website is an accurate depiction of the rooms. Very unique, stylish and comfortable. Impressive! COMMON AREA: The lobby has some areas to hang out but it's really more of a place to check in. The lobby is really beautiful. QUIET/MORNING LIGHT: The room was very quiet and all morning light could be blocked with the curtains. FOOD: Didn't eat here, although the chocolates at turn down are delicious! TV/INTERNET: Firefox told me that the wireless internet was not secure and to not use this service. I then requested a cable that provided very fast service and I think at no charge (there was no login). SERVICE: People here are very nice but clearly new at their jobs. The receptionist and concierge welcoming me to the hotel by shaking my hand was a bit much. I felt like they were trying a bit too hard to provide excellent service. I guess this beats the alternative. The check-in at the hotel took a bit too long, perhaps the receptionist was still learning the software but I did find that slightly annoying. In addition, they still need to learn the area more as I got blank stares when I asked 2 different employees where a restaurant was that was one block away from the hotel. SUMMARY: Parking is $10 for valet but I think there is a parking garage around the corner that charges less. Street parking is 2 hours up until 6pm at night. This place is by far the best place to stay in bed. I have travelled extensively around the world and for a non-resort property, this is one of my all time favorites. It reminds me of the Dylan hotel in Dublin (that place is ridiculous). I am a bit concerned with how this place is going to look after some abuse from guests. How long can a white leather couch and desk chair look good? How about the bar stools being the finest and most soft leather that is absolutely going to rip when someone has something sharp in their back pocket. This place spent the cash to make this hotel perfect, I just hope it's maintained well enough that it stays one of my favorite non resort hotels of all time. I am rarely impressed and this place impressed me. Unless you are looking for a resort property, there will be no better place in town. If you are considering a resort property, given the reviews of the other options, I strongly suggest you reconsider as this place is clearly the place to stay when in the Bend/Redmond area. OK - truth be told, I'm not an easy rater on hotels. I think I spent one out of every 3 nights in 2011 out of home, and by far the most enjoyable of those nights were spent in my couple of weeks at this property. First of all - the staff. I'm Platinum with two different global hotel chains, and I've never been made to feel more welcome anywhere in the world than I was here. From the always upbeat Valet/Bell staff to the fabulous Front Desk/Concierge to Housekeeping's helping hands, there was never a moment missed to do something great for me. I even had hotel tech support in my room pulling apart the entertainment console to sort out a dodgy connection, and were more than happy to share recommendations on hooking up all my gear, making me quite happy to get Netflix to redirect my movies here. Next - the rooms. No detail overlooked - none. This property was recommended to me by two different and completely unrelated business partners, and I of course checked it out online, and arched an eyebrow at the "sustainable" mattress, worrying that it was code for being uncomfortable on the body yet good on karma. Far from it. If Westin hadn't trademarked it, this bed would be called "Heavenly". I do intend to buy one for my home when I actually spend enough time there to make it worth my while. As for the pillow menu...no need goes unmet. As for the rest of the Oxford King - just perfectly appointed. Work area with enough plugs for a professional geek - check. 2 TVs so I can veg on the couch or in bed - check (they will bring you a DVD player if you ask nicely too!). Fantastic shower pressure for when you're in too much of a rush to linger in the super-deep tub. Kitchen with (electric) burners, microwave, fridge, and dishwasher, with daily-restocked coffee, tea, sugar, and honey?!? I'd make this my residence! Various other spectacular touches abound, from the excellently-appointed fitness room, containing a great Jacuzzi, sauna, and steam, to the delightful 10 below restaurant that always took great care of me. Breakfast, a cocktail with snacks, or scrumptious dinner when I wasn't in the mood to crawl brew-pubs, staffed with the same caliber of professional and engaging people I found when walking in. If you're going to Bend, there's nowhere else to stay. If you maybe have a reason to be near Bend, put it on your itinerary in order to stay here. If you're fortunate enough to live out in this wonderful area, and want to be pampered, this is the place to do it. I can't wait to be back. read more

This hotel was fantastic. My wife and I came here to celebrate our anniversary. I wrote down on our online reservation that it was our anniversary and they had a certificate for drinks (up to $20) waiting for us upon check-in. The room is exactly like the photos. It is beautiful, well laid out, and clean. The bed was wonderful and very comfortable. The bathroom.... Beautiful. Heated floors, private toilet, incredible shampoo/cond/body wash, great shower and bath tub, amazing robes. They give q-tips, cotton pads and great lotion. The only complaint was the lighting- there wasn't any kind of intimate or low setting for lighting in the bathroom. And the room was interestingly lit as well. My wife and I will absolutely be back. I love the colors, the textures and touches throughout the hotel. Love the TV's playing the fire and the fish : ) Staff is extra friendly and helpful. This is one of my favorite hotels in the Pacific Northwest. Customer service is not something they strive for, rather their point of difference. I've stayed here about 7-10 times and customer service has always been impeccable... From the kind bellman, sweet staff and personable restaurant staff. Tonight my room service doll and I had some communication breakdown when ordering, I wasn't pleased with my meal and when I called Lael made it not only right, but better than right. Before she left my room, her and I had chatted and hugged it out. This place is home for a weary traveler and will provide an lovely stop when vacationing Bend. This has been known to be the place to stay in Bend. My friend and I came here or a weekend get away and we were just delighted during our stay here. I've never been to a hotel where the concierge contacts you for specifics on how you want your room to be presented. The valet guy was washing the windows on my car as I was on my way to breakfast at McKay's. The rooms are very spacious, modern and sheek, a bit pricy but definitely worth it. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a top notch modern 4 diamond award winning hotel in the heart of Bend! You're within 2 miles of the best shops and restaurants in town. Their room service personal is awesome and accommodated us even when we walked in at 10pm.
