As of June 2019, I checked Yelp reviews for "bug" and this motel had no mention of bed bugs, which is a priority for me. That's the only reason they scored an extra star. Maybe there are no bedbugs because they left out the open, unsecured windows I passed or killed themselves because the smoky, non-smoking rooms are depressing, with fuzzy TVs. Good points: the bed was comfortable, the AC worked, the water was hot, and the towels were rectangular. And, lucky for us it was quiet (Monday night). However, it felt like I was being cased when I unloaded the car. Worse was the confused guy in the incense-filled closet-sized lobby who checked me in. He asked me EIGHT TIMES if it was for one night to the point I grabbed the chained-up pen and wrote "1 NIGHT" in all caps on my arm. I recommend bringing a Sharpie. read more

I'm usually a little iffy about single story motels in unfamiliar areas but I trusted my husband's judgement and I'm glad I did. The Rainbow Motel is a combo single story/two story motel and we ended up staying in the two story building, which had an interior corridor for people that would prefer something that seems a little safer. I'm personally not too picky when it comes to hotels, it has to be safe and clean, that's pretty much it, and this place seemed to be both. The bedding and floor felt clean, the ac worked VERY well, nice tv, and it was within walking distance of several breweries, though if you're not going with several male friends I'd recommend driving as we walked through some slightly sketchy areas. I've traveled a lot I stayed at many hotels all over Oregon and this is by far the most disgusting display of hospitality I've ever seen not only is the room skin crawling disgusting; the owner/front desk guy was very rude and unfriendly to say the least. I feel sorry for anyone who has to stay here more then 1 night...the beds are hard, it was a constant draft and the rooms are unstocked and beyond gross. Just look at the pictures. Great value for the price. Bend is getting expensive to visit but this was our second time and we decided to use the Rainbow Motel again. Their beds are comfortable, not luxury mattress but you want that, go pay the price. Bathrooms are small but the shower was nice. Flat screen tv, free wifi, mini fridge and microwave. They advertise quiet rooms but there was a concert the night we stayed that we could hear from our room as we were in the back, 2 floor area of the hotel and not the front. The music was going on past 10p. Still I would go back here. Very close to town that you could walk, we didn't, lol. read more

BAIT AND SWITCH! My wife and I were looking up hotels/motels in the area and found this one on Expedia for $25 due to a promo they were having and only had a couple rooms left to get. So we planned a trip and drove all the way out to bend to play and stay the day then head home next day after more play. Well when we got to the motel, they informed me that their manager had screwed up on their dates for the promo and that they wouldn't honor their room for $25 and that the best they could do is offer me a room for $55. When I asked to speak to the manager. They informed me that they weren't there and won't be there for the day. And when I asked if there was anything they could do or offer me in exchange of their screw up they said no. Then they said that they have to tell another couple the same thing for that day. Fast forward a couple weeks, I learn that my friend who had been to that exact same motel months prior to me went there because they offered the $25 deal and then didn't honor it and told them the same thing that I was told. I'm pretty sure that they do this as a ploy to lure people in and then say ohhhhh sorry, I can't do this. If they offered the room for $55 to begin with without their sneaky lying. I would have been happy but no. We expected one thing and got another. Very very unhappy. Plus there was a 1" gap under the door so if there is any noise in the hall, I echoes VERY loudly into your room and the beds are hard as a rock. Clean. Affordable at $79 for a king with two adults. The a/c worked. The shower was hot. We had enough room to do a workout in the morning before headed off for biking. They even have a cute little corny touch of fabric flowers in the room. It is no ritz but the flowers show someone cares. read more

When I look back at Oregon and ask myself, "what was your bang for your buck motel/hotel on your vacation," there is only one choice: Rainbow friggen Motel. Why? For $88, my friends and I (group of 4) were able to share a large, comfortable room with the usual amenities you would get at a high end motel/basic hotel. I didn't appreciate it at first because it was pretty much our first experience with Oregon motels, but after the other ones we checked out, this was definitely my favorite. The lady at the front was very approachable and nice. She was responsive on the phone when we called and was quick to help us when we needed something in our room. Even though we didn't get breakfast (come on it's cheap, no worries), I didn't mind because of our overall experience. The room itself had everything we needed. There was a separated sink outside of the bathroom, which gave access to us when we didn't need to shower and someone else needed the washroom. The bathroom itself was clean and easy to use. The beds themselves were pretty comfortable and left with no back pains or bed bugs. Overall, perfect experience for the price. If I ever go to Oregon again, I will stay here. This motel is located close to downtown, walking distance even. The rates are cheap. The rooms are clean. The carpet did feel a little sticky so wear socks. There is also free wi-fi although when we arrived, we had a hard time getting connected to it. The front desk is nice and accommodating. Our room was on the second floor which is towards the back of the drive. It was quiet and I slept very well. I will definitely stay here again when I am in Bend. read more

One of the worst ever! We paid $170 for the night and struggled with the 2 of us in a horrible double size bed that was supposed to be a queen. It was filthy! The kind of place you don't want to take your shoes! Don't stay here if you can help it. This place is terrible. They put us in a smoky room with holes in the wall and stains on the carpet. I'm okay with crappy motels but they charged me the same price that I've paid to stay at a Four Seasons. The owners are grumpy and not interested in making sure their clients have an enjoyable stay. Had the pleasure of staying at the Rainbow Motel in early July for five days. The Patel (Pravin and Panna) family have been the owners for over 20 years and everything was fine. Bed was very comfortable, room was clean and quiet, sheets were changed every other day (which wasn't necessary, but a nice touch). I stayed in the two story section in the rear of their property, versus the single story units in the front section. I felt the price was excellent; my cousin, also visiting family, had stayed at Rainbow Motel the month before and recommended it. The Expedia price was $100 more than my cousin quoted me, so I contacted the motel directly. I did not share either my cousin's quote or Expedia's and the price was my cousin's quote. Another Indian run motel. Room is clean. Bed is ok. TV not working.Wifi not working. Toilet not flushing and nearly overflowed. The office person told my wife to get the plunger and do the plunging. A new low in motel management skills and customer relations. That's why the two star rating. Haven't slept thru the night yet but no obvious bugs at this point. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and neat. But won't recommend for staying more than few nights. They put out just enough stuff, few towels, a tinny bag of shampoo and etc. our door in 214 was not even able to close completely, we could see a big gap. This fall we needed a motel on short notice, family emergency lead us to need one for a few days or longer. The beds were so comfortable, Sheets were a good quality cotton. The carpet was newer and clean. It was also very quiet. We slept so good. The owners were very helpful to us. This is well worth it. It is the best priced cleanest hotel I've seen in Bend. The room was readily available for a same day check in, which was nice but the price was not worth the stay. We were placed in a corner room with two bedrooms that had a bed in each room. Because the room was sooo cramped, all of the outlets were covered by furniture and were not usable; the microwave didn't even have a place to be plugged in. The fridge was too large for the kitchen and was placed in front of all the light switches to the room, so we had to stick our hand behind it to turn the lights on/off. Rainbow Motel had horrible check in process. I booked a non-smoking room for $66 and when I arrived, the owner stated Expedia should have charged us more even though we'd already paid. She gave us a smoking room, and when I explained I have asthma and paid for a non-smoking room, she forced us to pay an extra $25 to move to another room, and blamed Expedia. It is not the consumer's fault she wants to make more money, she should take that up with Expedia. Because it was late at night and there were not other rooms available in town for a holiday weekend, she knew she trapped us and we had to pay extra for a dirty dingy hot tub room and were not allowed to use the hot tub (they shut off the water to make sure.) Overall, horrible experience with rude staff and when I reported her to my credit card company she lied. Would not recommend this motel. read more

OMG. The pictures posted on this Yelp are certainly NOT the room that we got. Nice staff and pretty on the outside but our room was tiny, no tub, small shower, and OLD. I think we got the older remodeled room cause I asked for the online price listed and for $77 we got it. :( Coming back from Idaho we avoided Bend all together. To crowded since a ton of freeways come together there and hotels are taking advantage of that. Go either way out of town for something more quaint. read more

I was double charged for my room. I paid in cash and was also charged on my credit card. The owner of the motel is trying to tell me that credit cards are charged and then a refund is sent when cash is paid. THis is a lie. My credit card should never have been charged. I paid in cash. read more

Way to expensive for what you get. Booked a two bed room for $111.00 The the TV was fuzzy. No coffee or shampoo, just bar soap. The comforter smelled. Everything seemed old. Burn holes in the bed skirt. Flaking paint. Didnt seem clean. You could literally rest your forearms on the sink from the toilet & had to turn sideways to get to it. Can't imagine what a bigger person would do. Far to expensive. Good sides were the AC which looked like it was from the 80's actually worked well & the shower stayed hot as long as you wanted it to. If this room was 60 bucks it would have been worth it. Do yourself a favor & travel the short distance to the Holiday Motel & get far more for 10 or 20 dollars less. read more

I was looking for a place to stay and stopped at this motel. I asked to see a no smoking room and the woman at the desk gave me a key to look at a room. It smelled like ciggarettes so I asked the woman again if she had a non smoking room. She told me that room was and I said it smelled so I asked for another room. I could tell she was not happy with me and said no more rooms tonight. I went on and found another hotel. We went out that night and while driving back to the other motel we were staying at, we drove by the Rainbow and saw that there were plenty of empty parking spaces at this motel. I believe the woman lied to me because she wasn't happy that I told her that her room smelled like cigarettes. Look around, plenty of other motels to choose from. read more

And they usually charge it for only $99 to $129. So they charge me for more then twice of the original price. And they rush me to pay on phone, then reserve the room for me. So beware of them. Stayed here for a night while on a road trip. We got in around midnight. Checking was fast and easy. The room was very clean and had a large TV. Bed was firm but comfy. We were running late the next morning for 11am checkout but they were happy to give us extra time. Checkout was a synch, I just had to return the key and we were on our way. I stayed here because I needed a relatively cheap, decent motel to spend the night while waiting for a replacement tire to come in for my SUV, which was damaged while hunting near Riley. I found the good reviews online and gave it a try. I found the motel to be exactly what you pay for ($49.50 for a Wednesday overnight into Thursday). This is a wonderful, basic, no frills motel: no annoying hot tub/pool to attract people with noisy kids, just a decent, clean, comfortable place a half block off a main road, with excellent access to the local highways. No continental breakfast, but no problem since there only seems to be about 500 different places to eat in Bend-find your own meal as you desire. I found the room (non-smoking, in the newer building in the back) to be very comfortable, and essentially identical to a Motel 6 or Super 8, just less expensive. Good cable, a very nice hot shower, fridge, microwave, decent insulation in the windows and between the rooms...wasn't woken up by outside noises. The bed was firm, but I like that, and the pillows were just fine...decently firm but not too much: I prefer these kinds of pillows as opposed to those more expensive motels or hotels that have soft and very firm pillows as your options. If you are looking for an affordable, clean, and convenient motel, this is the place. No frills, just a nice place to rest your head for the night. read more

A single room cost $53 including taxes!! For that price, I was pleasantly surprised with the Rainbow Motel. It is a quaint little motel in the warehouse district outside downtown Bend. The owner is pleasant, and seems to care for this little motel with love. There is a new non-smoking building that was recommended, and our room was exactly what you would expect for the price. It was clean (no bedbugs, we checked), had a clean hot shower, as well as a fridge and microwave. I could tell by the nice motorcycles and trucks containing mountain gear, that outdoor types know this is the place to stay for cheap when you do not plan on spending much time in the room. If the bed hadn't been so hard and the towels didn't feel as though I was drying myself with a burlap sack, this would be 4 star review. I would definitely return next time I need a room on the cheap in Bend. read more

This place is exactly what you pay for; the $40-50 a night range affords you a comfortable room with cable TV, a hot shower, and an easy 1/2 mile drive to downtown and a 30 minute drive to Mt. Bachelor. The wireless is sketchy and there is no gym/hot tub. I would recommend this place to anyone planning on spending most of their time outside of the room.
