This place is aweful! They didn't clean the bathroom, on one of the pillows had blood on it and I found a dead bug that looked like a house cockroach under the garbage can! The room was clean and the employees were friendly and helpful. However when we got to our room we found the walls to be paper thin. We could hear normal conversation in the room next door. Only 1 AC unit for the suite with the door between sitting room and bedroom. No vent in the bedroom so it really can't be used as 2 separate rooms. Also, several people, including employees, smoking and vaping right out in front of the hotel. Not a first impression. read more

My siblings and I were meeting in California for a family reunion, and we needed an overnight stay in Redding before driving to the coast. We considered all the hotels near the train station, and settled on the Oxford Suites. We're very glad we did! My brother arrived first, and the front desk was so kind to him and his dog, Coco. They even gave him a collapsible travel water dish for Coco! We had reserved a suite which had a queen bed toward the front of the room, and a desk and sleeper sofa toward the back, behind a pocket door. My brother took the back of the room so that he could work at the desk while waiting for my sister and I to arrive, which was a great arrangement. He especially appreciated the free and easily accessed Wi-Fi. My sister and I shared the queen bed, which was quite comfortable, and had easy access to the bathroom. All the room furnishings and décor were very sleek and modern, especially the fixtures in the bathroom. Everything was very clean and well cared for. The staff is AMAZING; a special shout-out to Michael at the front desk; when we called him with questions in the wee hours of the morning, he was bright and friendly and helpful. He was able to extend our check-out time to noon, since we had arrived so late, and we really appreciated that. A big thank-you to Drake in the breakfast room, who greeted us cheerily and gave us tips for sites to visit in the area. Even the workmen for the hotel renovation held open doors and held the elevator for me as I was leaving with my bags. Everyone was so kind and made us feel welcome! Breakfast was grab-and-go options while the dining room is being renovated; we had breakfast biscuit and croissant sandwiches (which easily heated up in our microwave), fruit, yogurt, and coffee. There were pastry and cereal selections as well. The layout of the hotel is open and inviting, with exterior corridors surrounding an interior courtyard filled with greenery and places to sit and relax. The neighborhood is very quiet and safe. An overall hotel renovation is underway; the Oxford Suites looks great now, and I'm sure the end result will be even better. What a GREAT stay! read more

I am changing my review from one star to four. I had an asthma attack and I thought I smelled a vacuum cleaner. I thought that the cleaning ladies might have dumped their vacuum bag in front of my door or something and I was really upset. Having asthma attacks is scary. I have no idea what happened, but besides this freak incident I have had a very good stay here. I enjoy my room. The breakfast have been nice and I like the idea of their free cocktail hour except I have yet to actually attend one. read more

2nd time staying here at this hotel. This time it was under renovations so the office/lobby was moved and breakfast was brown bag. The rooms are big and spacious and clean. Our team loved hanging out at the pool. Our only complaint was the breakfast options but hopefully by the time we go back next year they will be done with the remodel and normal breakfast will be back. This is our second stay this year at an Oxord Suites, the last being in Boise. The hotel is clean and the grounds are well maintained. All the staff is friendly and polite. We did not have any issues to report. Checking in was incredibly smooth and we were given a great recommendation for a local Mexican restaurant. There was flavored water and cookies in the lobby. Upon checking in, each adult is given two free drinks in the bar from 5-9. The Eel River Amber was great. Most of the time when you enter your room the first time, the air is off. Well we were coming in from 100 degrees to fine our room at 65 degrees...heaven!!!! The bed was super comfortable and we heard nothing from the neighbors or the main street which our window faced. The fridge in the room was also cold, a rarity this days. The shower heated fast and the water pressure was amazing. Even the blow dryer was incredibly strong. Now for our free breakfast buffet. Lots of choices for breakfast. Hot-scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, sausage links, bacon and oatmeal with toppings Toaster items, bread, bagels, and English muffins. Cold- two types of Greek yogurt with toppings, cereal, fruit, muffins. Drinks- 3 types of juice, milk, coffee, and flavored water. There were lots of condiments from hot sauce to peanut butter. We just got home after 4 days at the Oxford Suites and what a joy it was. The staff was just fantastic, they were cheerful and caring. The stay came with a complimentary buffet type breakfast that would rival a regular restaurant. Scrambled eggs or Breakfast burritos, fresh potatoes and fruit, and a wonderful meat, sausage or ham, a different one each day. Choices of juice or cereal, Danish and muffins, this list goes on. We took advantage of the exercise room but I was limited because they did not have a bike but it was still amazing. The pool was closed for the season but that was ok. My husband was thoroughly thrilled with the complimentary wine at night. Just first class all the way. I don't think you will be disappointed staying here. read more

Needed a 24hr check in and the front desk worker was wide awake, friendly, quick to check in so we could get to bed. Good for large families the living room having a door to it was a bonus. Let's talk about the full size shampoo/conditioner/body wash/lotion bottles that is AMAZING for large families. No need to ration out how much to use. This was so nice, it's not talked about enough in hotels!! Free/delicious breakfast currently doing grab and go bags, but they provide so much. Had bagels, breakfast sandwiches, coffee, juice, milk, fruit, fruit cups. And let us get as much as we wanted. 10/10 recommend. Those who complained about construction or anything else were literally just fishing for something to complain about. They go above and beyond to ensure the construction doesn't take away from your stay and The employees were all extremely nice. read more

This was our final night at a hotel after a 2 week road trip with the family and it was a good hotel to end on. The Oxford Suites was a larger hotel than we thought it would be, but it was perfect for our family. I think we had a suite as our room had the typical hotel room setup when you first walked in, and then there were pocket doors that opened up to a little living room area with a TV. Sort of like the reversal of the Embassy Suites which has that room first, then the bedroom in the back. Unlike Embassy though, there's no kitchenette or dining area. What is nice about this though is once the kids are bed, the wife and I could recline in the other room and talk/watch TV which is pretty nice after a long day of driving. Beds were pretty comfortable though the bathroom is a little tight. Breakfast was included with the room though it wasn't as impressive as some of the other places we stayed on this trip. I read the reviews and decided to stay at Oxford but I was really disappointed after staying one night. Specially, after taking a shower I placed a towel on the floor to stand on and after picking it up the other side was really dirty (black marks all over). There was also stains on the room doors, floor, one of the pocket doors was broken (couldn't close), and I didn't like the decor. The most disappointing part was the next morning I went to have a cup of coffee and removed the coffee cup from the wrapped plastic only to find it was used! At first, I thought the cup was stained but after trying to remove the stain it easily came off just by rinsing it with my finger. Disappointed! read more

Very nice chain hotel and close to Sundial Bridge and Turtle Bay Park. The room was huge, with two flat screens. More like a suite, and except for a noisy air conditioner was quite cozy. We have always enjoyed the Oxford but last night was a terrible experience. The guests services were rude and unprofessional, the rates went up considerably, the hotel is under constant construction. The room they gave us was right across from the elevator and super noisy. No hot breakfast during to construction, even though we were promised breakfast sandwiches. We have really been enjoying our stay here! We picked it after reading Yelp reviews and it is a short drive (or walk or bike) from it to the Sundial Bridge over the Sacramento River where we participated in a community river float event. . Clean, updated room. We travelled with our dog. Many exits from rooms to access outside grassy areas for pets. Pool looked inviting but busy due to 95-100 F during our stay. Upon checking in, you get tickets you can redeem for a complimentary well drink during nightly happy hour (you can also purchase other specialty cocktails) as well as a breakfast buffet. The morning buffet was an upgrade over the usual bagels, muffins, apples, bananas, dry cereal, etc. A few juice or flavored water choices, hot buffet (with scrambled eggs and potatoes, or biscuits and gravy while we were there). Although we did not eat any there was also bacon and/or sausage. Even had oat milk for cereal or coffee :). We will stay here again as it was an overall convenient and pleasant experience. read more

The hotel is remodeling and I love some of the new improvements. I wish it was a little more insulated I could hear the tv and talking from the adjoining room and I could also hear the people walking in the room above me. We always stay here when we come to Redding, but a few things are slightly annoying. Mainly, Logan's Roadhouse is next door. In the past that's been a problem at night when I've stayed and have heard a lot of music, cars, noisy people etc when I was in a room that faced the restaurant. This time it was an issue when their yard crew cleans up the parking lot at 6:30am on a Saturday and I was woken an hour before my alarm by a leaf blower. If sleep is important to you I recommend requesting a room that's not near Logan's. Secondly, there was no soap in our room when we checked in and no shower soap. The second day after housekeeping came there was still no soap. They didn't refill the thing in the shower and my husband really needed it after we've been working to help someone move all day. It's not that we love the soap so much, but we have two rooms for two nights and when you're dropping $600 to sleep somewhere you'd think they could give you some soap. Also, the rooms are nice and dark for sleeping which I love, but very poorly lit in the daytime. I wish they had a vanity mirror that I could pull out to my face for putting on makeup. Lots of hotels have those now. read more

Okay, I'll try not to be a jerk, but it's Redding. I've stayed at Oxford Suites a few times over the past few years as it's my "go to" ho/motel when I'm in town for funerals. Sadly, I have a sizeable portion of my family who lives in the meth-head capital of Jefferson (oh, I should mention there are kooks who are trying to create the 51st state in northernmost California and my guess is Redding would be its state capital). Anyhow... Oxford Suites is a decent place to stay. Here's what I like: Rooms are okay (dated and worn around the edges, but it's Redding - find me something better.) Front desk staff is friendly and efficient - for Redding. Seems kinda safe (for Redding), but not sure - don't quote me or hold me responsible for lost or stolen items. Location - close to the freeway, which means a fast escape from...you guessed it - Redding! Drink tickets for Happy Hour! Who doesn't love a few beers included with your room when staying in Redding?! Breakfast is included (I hope you don't mind people touching everything before you eat.) Extra salty bacon and a pile of scrambled eggs...not bad when you're hung over after a rosary service the night before. They have a pool! My relatives only die in the winter, so it's a non-factor for me, but I like the blue light and the steam coming of the jacuzz-me when it's raining/snowing. Hmmm...the toilets work, my car has never been stolen - all good! What I find objectionable? S-M-O-K-E-R-S killing the air within 100' of the front door! Uggh...create a smoker's area 350' away in the back parking area. Seriously, it's awful. I can deal with everything else. For what it is, it works for me. 3 stars P.S. Glad we did this 3-star hotel choice in an area where there are no 4-star hotels to speak of. Long hallway room gave me a den area, bathroom opposite closet, and king sized bed -- I could kick my legs around aplenty. On AMC, I saw "Back to the Future Part III" and "Jaws 2." On Bravo... who the hell watches Bravo anymore? HBO was blacked out. 95 degrees outside at 9 p.m. in July, but you can't feel it with full-blast A/C blowing your room cool. Strong shower heads. I wanted to use the word "potent" to describe the shower heads, but I'll say "strong." I'll try to make the rest of this easy to read. So how about convenience? Next door is "Marie Callenders" on one side and "Logan's Roadhouse BBQ" on the other, totally decent choices. Drove to Mount Lassen, the Holland of California, in about 48 minutes on a Saturday morning. To the friendly Mount Shasta in about 84 minutes on the previous morning. On the Saturday, got back in time to eat and catch 4th of July fireworks from the "Oxford" sidewalk. About ten OK complimentary breakfast options, and all smiles from the staff. Kids like to play in the pool, dads' too. Am I coming back to Redding and to "Oxford" to stay again one day? For a three-day vacation, you betcha. #out-of-the-heat read more

Great value, seriously! Price is pretty good for the room, which is surprisingly nice. Up to date furniture, nice layout, fancy linens and cushy beds. Carpet and stuff nice and pretty new. The food is a bonus. Included is breakfast, which is continental plus a hot dish, like biscuits and gravy or eggs and waffles. Evening food too, like pasta. Super friendly service, accommodating, and most importantly, competent. I don't know, is everyone in Redding this nice, or is it especially this hotel? Front desk at night and morning all very friendly with excellent service. Seems like everyone at this hotel is working hard together to get you to come back. No wonder this hotel is near the top of Bethel's where to stay list. I definitely would return. read more

Desiree was very nice and check in was quick, but she put me in a dark corner. The front window faces the wall of the enclosed hallway and the other is the parking lot. I posted pictures. I had to turn on ALL the lights to be able to see inside the room at 3pm in the afternoon. I will see how things go with free evening reception and breakfast before I revise my review. Evening reception is chips and dip and some weird little salad bar. I thought it would be cheese and crackers and maybe some bar snacks and cookies. You can get a free wine, beer, soda, or juice for one ticket and well drinks for two tickets. But there are cookies in the afternoon and fruit at a table that also has coffee, tea, and ice water in the lobby. Breakfast was a little better, but same everyday: bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, potatoes. But depending on what time you go, there may be no food so either you wait or skip. There is also cereal, bread products, and thick, lukewarm oatmeal. Coffee is from a machine using a syrup and juice machine dispenses really bland juice. Juice during reception better. It's from a box . I had to stop off at Starbucks everyday. The staff was really courteous and helpful. Although I was confused when I got back to my room after a long day to find a note saying since I left my Do Not Disturb sign out that they did not clean my room, but would come if I called. Interesting, because my towels were replaced and my bed was made and the tip I left was gone. There is a lot of environmental noise which makes sleep difficult for some of us. I could hear the ice maker down the hall. The rooms encompass the outdoor pool. The fan in the room and exhaust fan are loud outside in the hallway. read more

Do not book here if possible. There are alot of other options in Redding. They are extremely rude and unaccomodating. I booked the hotel room for my guys and paid in full. I emailed them a credit card and Id as I normally would with every other hotel I deal with and they refuse to accept it to cover there 20.00 incidental fee and refused to let my employee stay there without the 20.00 hold. They left him sitting in the lobby without a room. I ended up having to book them at a different hotel that immediately took care of them and got them safely in there room. As I had hoped, our room was clean-- albeit just average in decor. Check-In was pleasant, but I was disappointed to find out that on Sunday there isn't a cocktail reception! At 109 degrees, and a six hour drive, that beer sounded mighty fine. So, be prepared for that. The bed was comfy enough, and my son said the hide-a-bed was okay. It was nice to have a fridge and microwave. We loved that Cattlemen's was just down the street... GREAT steak dinner! Breakfast was basic, and very busy given that it was July. Bathroom had poor ventilation so when you took a shower, with the fan on, the steam just laid there. Breakfast we skipped as the line was way too long and would have had nowhere to sit. Heading down to Los Angeles from Portland and Redding is our mid-drive evening stop. Checked in on a Saturday evening around 7:00pm. We've stayed here perhaps four times in the past 8 years. There's nothing particularly wrong here, about average. The counter staff is great, very accommodating and nice. The rooms are a tad on the basic side, but this isn't a particularly expensive place to stay either. Several things were in need of repair during our visit (which I've come to expect here--I think something has been broken each time we've visited). This time it was the elevator. It's always fun having heavy bags and being up on the third floor, forced to carry bags up and down several flights. They give free drinks in the evening--they were decent. Basic draft beer selection (a wheat ale, a red, and some name-brand swill I'd never drink anyway). I recall our last stay inquiring of the red wine and asking where it was from, and the bartender gave me a deer-in-the-headlights shrug. Maybe it's just our luck, but we always seem to coincidentally pick the night where the "I'm not the normal bartender here" person is serving. I hadn't thought the question was too difficult but evidently folks in north-central California don't care where their wines come from to the degree we Portlanders do. Stick with the brew. The room was "okay." We were a family of four (two adults, two kids) desiring some privacy and closed the pocket-doors that separate the sitting room from the primary bedroom. The only problem: the A/C is in the sitting room. So our side was 80 degrees while the kids' side was 50. We baked. They froze. Breakfast was borderline hideous. How to you make scrambled eggs so terrible that your 13 year old egg-atarian son won't even eat them? We stuck with the knowns: cereal, milk, and their relatively decent bagels. I know it was "free" but the proteins should at least be reasonably edible. In all, this place is "okay". We'll probably wind up here again (just maybe not for the breakfasts). read more

We stayed 3 nights. Wish I could give them 5 stars. Pros: DVD player in the room, salad bar and 2 free alcoholic (beer or wine) drinks in the evening (per night). And they weren't stingy with the alcohol either, they were decent servings and the bartender (who was so nice), always offered to give them to-go. Great beer on tap. Breakfast was substantial with great coffee. Great selection of teas, complimentary water, cups to go. Great eating area adjacent to lobby. Comfy bed, quiet. Cold a/c. Nice shampoo. Cons: small tv, uncomfortable pillows, spa closed for maintenance, small pool that is always packed, mold in shower. Tv remote was missing batteries and backing. The toilets and showers excellent water pressure. The pool is clean and the area delightful with trees and nice eating outside in am. Great staff and the breakfast was sausage, and bacon, eggs cooked the way you like them on a griddle. Potatoes, burritos and egg cheese sandwiches, juices yogurt to go bags( muffins snack bars, juice fruit cups) the kitchen staff are so friendly. You can fill up on the breakfast and take the snack bags for hiking. Location good and Plenty of places to eat within walking. Marie Callender's next door has an excellent salads, try the one with the shrimp ( best shrimp ever) and meatloaf sandwich delicious. I noticed you get quicker service using take out. The restaurants are short staffed. They try their best. You can't get a better place to stay, the price is right. read more
