It seems as though the owners always have their friends/family over to hang out. We learned at there is a young haole ophthalmologist from Hilo that is really good, and works miracles on cataracts. Great shop run by 3 elderly ladies. A very Japanese establishment with mainly local clientele. As tourists, we definitely stood out in this 4 table place. We ordered Da piggy breakfast, multiple Spam musubi, and Bento box for the Road to Hana. It was so delicious! This place is now my wife's favorite place to get spam musubi. Da Piggy is pretty standard American breakfast fare with Hawaiian influences like Spam. All items are made fresh and the bento even has an expiration time of a few hours labeled on top. read more

Had a quick lunch of the large bento, 2 hamburger deluxes, hamburger steak plate and a mini bento. Everything cooked to order and Ono! The Teri beef was especially good and it was just a nice local place. The ladies came and sat down (we were probably their last customers for the day cause we got there about 1:20 and they close at 2:00) and talked story with us. Super close to the airport so great for a quick cheap meal. Large bento was only $6.95 and the hamburger deluxe was $1.95 and both decent size for such a cheap price! read more

Got the Da piggy breakfast for 9.40 after tax. Yes it's local that's about it. it's way too salty. And not BIG at all. The person inside keep telling me how large portion it will be and most people have to share it. Well if it's not soooooooo salty I could have 2 of this. I don't get how this restaurant get all the 5 stars. + they increase most of the popular dishes to around $10. Won't recommend it read more

Great place to eat like a local, and to meet some locals! My girlfriend tried her very first Spam (musubi) here. We shared a table with a local regular and he told us everything about Spam. The lady running the cashier is a riot. She's a bit forgetful, but such a charming personality. We laughed so hard chatting with everyone in the store and had some great local food on the cheap. Love the vibe in the restaurant. Everyone is very welcoming and friendly. We came in and there were tons of aunties talking story. The musubi was VERY good. "Da Loko Moko" wasn't that great. Gravy needs some work, the rice was cooked with too much water, and the spam wasn't really fried on the sides. Good musubi though. read more

We ordered 2 hamburger steaks plates with rice and Mac salad. Talk about a disappointment. First we had to wait 1/2 hour because they were out of rice. Then, while we waited we could here them grumbling with each other. Maybe that was the highlight. When the food came it was terrible. The gravy was like a water oil gravy, the burgers had no taste and the koko tasted like 3 cups of salt. I don't see myself ever coming back. Local and tiny spot for breakfast. 3 stars for the huge portions and warm service. It was served by ladies that made me feel like they were our aunties. It was more like a home cooked meal than anywhere we had tried during our visit to the island. One extra star for the outstanding fresh Spam Musubi that came out of that kitchen. This was our very first dining in Maui. We ordered 'Da loco moco breakfast' and it was tasty but nothing I would want again. The gravy and beef patties were okay (needs more seasoning). We ordered the Ono plate which was breaded nicely and tasty too. My grandma had udon soup which she enjoyed. The ambience is grandmas crazy kitchen. It was truly memorable and that deserves 4 stars. Stopped in based on prior yelp reviews and could not have been happier. Yes it is a very small kinda hole in the wall place which just adds to the charm. The ladies were wam, friendly, and funny too! Authentic Hawaiian home cooking. One of us had the Loco Moco (lots of meat) and the other the Big Breakfast (which included delicious French Toast) - from beginning to end - it was a memorable and tasty meal.
