Have not been here from years, but it's exactly as I remember it reasonably good food, relatively fast service and prices have went up a bit, but still seem in line with the current market. I had a steak salad. I liked it. My partner had the potato skins we remember them being a little more abundantly loaded the last time we had them and they do have a sushi bar. While on vacation saw this Ale house and decided to try it out. The environment is of a sports bar; plenty of TV screens and beer taps. Service was prompt and friendly. My wife ordered the fish and chips which she was very impressed with. The fish was well cooked and the portions were generous. I ordered the chicken nachos. Unfortunately for me it was a different story. While the presentation was great the choice of cheese for the nachos didn't quite melt. I had a hard time finding the chicken. Tasted ok. Their menu has plenty of choices so I would definitely try other items if the opportunity arises. Lastly, these lunch pairings were expensive. read more

Great beers! Super Nice servers with excellent beer recommendations. Also - I've got a stupid food allergy and our server took a picture of the ingredients in the French fries for me - so that was excellent since it turned out they had an ingredient I was allergic to. Nice local feel, lots of TV's with sports, great bathrooms (love the integrated hand dryers on the water bar- have never seen that before.) Lots of parking. Will definitely go here again. read more

We arrived at opening 11am as one of the first patrons, our table was dirty with all sorts of crumbs left behind from the night before. Secondly, I placed my purse on the booth seat and it fell, in which I noticed a few french fries left behind the booth on the floor overnight or more... Thirdly, my son received his 'ice cream' with a piece of cheese stuck to the side of the bowl. Rats, roaches and ants will love this feast. And to think they serve sushi!?????? Great spot to take 4 starving young men after a jaunt up to the crater! We inhaled the awesome burgers that we all were in the mood for; no time to take a photo! Lol! We ordered the big kahuna, black and blue, a basic cheeseburger, pulled pork and a blackened mahi-mahi wrap - there were no leftovers. Their sushi is so yum! They do have a short happy hour from 3p-5p but only Mon-Fri. My only bummer is that they only open at 3p and it's not always consistent. The taste is there but after you get a chef that makes really full sushi, you hold the rest of the sushi to the same standard. All good though, just have to chew slowly :) Also another thing that can be junk is the separate tab from Ale House. There's different servers which means you can wait a while for someone to come around with a menu and then to take your order. Just try not to come in hangry! read more

Mediocre, amateur, expensive about sums it up. The unagi roll was small, barely any unagi, loosely rolled to nearly falling apart, and $15 for 8 pieces. The tako sashimi was still partially frozen and looked like it had been sliced with a bread knife, total hack job, also $15. The saba was salty, unevenly cut and flaking apart for $15. Sad sad sashimi. And these were the cheaper options!! The shredded daikon tasted fishy. Everything was served with mounds of pickled ginger. They did have real shiso interestingly - maybe they could forget this and just serve better sashimi. The server was friendly, but other than that, there is really nothing to recommend this afterthought of a sushi bar. Certainly not the saké menu, which was pretty lame, mostly flavoured which is telltale. Skip it. read more

They also bill separately. We ordered 2 rolls, both were delicious. My only comment is it is also a sports bar, with multiple TVs and lots of noisy people. It's a decent place for typical bar food & drinks. We were a party of 6 and arrived at 9:15 PM - they close at 10pm and were immediately told last call in 10 minutes when we stepped foot inside. Not the most welcoming but we sat down anyway. Mekala was our server and she's awesome! She was pleasant, helpful with recommendations and served us well. Unfortunately, Sushi already closed so we ordered artichoke dip ($22), beef nachos ($26), buffalo wings (12-$25), Turkey club w/ parmesan fries ($23), quesadillas ($25) and steak plate ($36)...Yup, pricey!! This is located inside a sports bar, so it can get super loud depending on the night's entertainment. SUSHI: Dynamite - Total oral orgasm. Scallops, zucchini & mushrooms topped with mayo and baked in a searing hot dish. Spicy Tuna - Traditional sriracha and mayo and the fish was very fresh and firm. Maguro Nigiri - Very good. Fish was super fresh. Baked California - Holy yum. Your standard Cali roll with the dynamite sauce baked on top. O-M-G... to die for!! Tataki Salad - Very tasty salad with mixed greens, fresh avocado, oriental dressing and seared ahi strips. Way better version than Sansei's and highly recommended. Sushi Combo - I am just not into the sushi offered on this platter, but a friend ordered it. Comes w/ 2 maguro, 2 hamachi, 2 salmon (my fave of the bunch), and 2 shiromi. Whatever the white-colored fish was, it was mushy and gross to me. Alaskan Roll - Crab legs, cucumber, and avocado on the inside with salmon on top, baked in teriyaki sauce & drizzled with spicy aioli. I could hardly taste the crab. It was good but not as great as the baked California! SERVICE: Everyone is friendly. Reservations aren't taken as it operates along with the Ale House's seating. TIP: You can order from the sushi bar from any table in the restaurant, though you may receive 2 separate checks from the bar/restaurant and the sushi bar. This is our local favorite! The atmosphere is family style bar place, where you can sit and drink a beer while watching a game, or have your family over for a dinner. We've been here many times and have not been disappointed! The attached sushi bar is a super awesome surprise that keeps me coming for more! The sushi chef is always on point. So good, so fresh, great service. This is the perfect place for a compromise- the boyfriend gets his chicken wings with blue cheese dressing, I get sushi, at the same table. What a win! Disclaimer: I enjoyed my food. Had a sushi roll, nigiri and salad. But, the service here is HOOOOOORIBBLE. Half our table ordered from regular menu, the other from the sushi side. The sports bar waitress had an attitude from the time we sat down. The original order was put in wrong, and when corrected she stormed off like it was our fault the kitchen (or she) got it wrong. She didn't come back even once to see if we were doing okay, had to be flagged down while passing by to other tables to get condiments/refills, etc. Sports bar waitress is also in charge of passing along the sushi orders to the sushi waitress. Well that wasn't done for our table. It took literally an hour to get our three rolls. All those who'd ordered off the sports bar menu had finished eating before the sushi made it to our table. And somehow the party at the table adjacent to us who dat down 30mins after us recived their sushi tat the same time. But, the Sushi waitress (once she actually got the order ticket from the incompetent one...) was nice and attentive. From our last visit, our experience was a total downgrade. We came out for dinner date (happy hour) and lemme tell you the happy hour options were very limited. We order the $5 onion rings so oily and it was only like 5 rings what a joke! And then I ordered a Reuben Sandwhich and my husband ordered a Philly Cheesesteak - YUCK YUCK YUCK! Fries were Semi cold as well. Too it off too, service took a bit long. We nearly waited for 30 mins before our Baked Roll was delivered by then I was over the whole experience. Waiting 45 minutes to be seated for a party of 3, the host said he would call us when our table is ready. We never got a call but we walked back in to check with him and he totally did not acknowledge us and he seated a party who got there 20 minutes after we put our name down first.
