We took Mom here for lunch one day, but be warned even on a weekday there is still a bit of a waitlist because there aren't too many tables inside! We kept it simple on our visit: -Combo A (for Mom & Wifey to share) - Mini Ramen, 4 pieces Gyoza, Mini Chicken Katsu Curry -Combo B (for me) - Mini Wonton Soup, 4 pieces Gyoza, Mini Chicken Katsu Curry -Beef Curry Rice (for the bro) Don't let those mini soups in the combo sets fool you, it's a LOT of food that's supposed to be meant for 1 person! But it's good enough for 2 to share! The Beef Curry Rice entree is no slacker either, it's a mound of hot white rice...buried by another mound of steaming hot beef curry! Soups were good, light broth but still flavorful - noodles were cooked just right and the wontons were full of filling. The gyoza were great too, pan fried just right to give some texture. Oh, that chicken katsu curry though...MUAH! It's super tasty even though it's deemed a 'small' portion, there was a large pile of rice with an entire row of freshly fried katsu, topped with a generous pour of their curry sauce! Makes the combo set overly portioned and will make you FULL! My brother couldn't finish his massive serving of Beef Curry Rice by himself, he ended up taking almost half of it home! Prices are very reasonable at Ramen Ya, and the service is great. Be prepared to wait for your food a bit though, they really are busy throughout the entire lunch rush because folks come in for takeout too! read more

Beware, there might be something shady going on there. The food was good on both visits but something is off with the handling of the bill. Here's what happened: On August 25, 2025, I was visiting my mom who lives on Maui. We decided to have lunch at Ramen Ya. The food was good and we had a nice time. I gave the waitress my credit card (which has the card number right on it) to pay the bill. A few hours later, my credit card company called to ask if I had bought an expensive knife online (no, it wasn't me so they blocked it). FYI, I normally use Apple Pay anywhere and don't hand over my credit card like that so my mistake which is why I find this transaction suspicious. Second incident was yesterday (Thursday, January 8, 2026 around 1 pm): My mom and stepdad had lunch there. They said the food was good. When my stepdad went to pay at the register and gave the waitress a $100 bill, she was about to close the register without giving him his change (which was about $63). He had to ask for his change. So be careful when dining there. Maui is a small place so word of mouth is valuable. Sorry but I will never eat there again -- many other local small businesses that I can go to instead. P.S. This is one of our go-to places when we're hungry because the portions are big. This place is located in the Queen Kaahumanu shopping center on the women's Macy's side. There is usually a waitlist for a table but it goes pretty quickly. They also do a lot of take out orders. It's a small casual family dining restaurant. It was hot today so I decided to try their cold noodles for the first time. It was kind of like a somen salad. There are plenty of toppings. So much so that I would actually prefer more noodles and less toppings. But it was tasty and hit the spot on a hot day. Tucked inside the Queen Káahumanu Center, "Ramen Ya" lives up to that satisfying YA! Their kitchen staff creates a wonderful broth that elevates the noodles with a flavor to savor! I had the seafood Ramon with shrimp and a white fish, cabbage and other fresh vegetables for that perfect combination! A side order of mochi chicken with Katsu sauce filled me up! HUGE portions! It may be one of the few places on island where I feel like you get more than what you pay for . Seriously, one fried rice is probably enough for 3-4 people. They stay busy and it's a kind of turn and burn place, so don't expect to camp out for too long. Expect to wait a few minutes to be seated. More if it's a weekend or prime time. Popped in for a late dinner after a painting night at the Cat Cafe further along in the mall. There were a few families dining in and a lot of to go orders when we arrived, and we were welcomed and told to pick a table of our choice. Menus and iced water arrived as soon as we seated ourselves and our waitress gave us a few minutes to peruse the menu. Wow, what a menu for noodles! Plus the servings are HUGE! Hubbs chose the Big Bowl of soupy noodle deliciousness and I chose the seafood stir fry noodles which was amazing. Tons of shrimp and beautifully soft melt in the mouth fish. Yum. I was amazed at how much seafood was in the dish compared to the price I paid, very good value for money. The waitress was full of fun and took great care of us, checking in with a smile and joke and making sure we had enough drinks. We had to take more than half of our meals home and she was there with take out boxes for us before we asked! Little wonder that this popular Ramen restaurant has a line of people waiting during popular hours. Go and enjoy. read more

Ramen Ya is located inside a mall. I went there with a friend. The place was busy when I got there, but we still got seated right away. It's a small restaurant. Their menu contains pictures of each of the dishes which I really liked. My friend and I got their combo set A, which includes mini ramen, 4 piece gyoza, and one selection. The mini ramen that's included in this set is shoyu ramen, so if you want a different style ramen, then you have to pay a little extra (nothing crazy). For the selection item, you can pick one from the following: mini fried rice, chicken katsu curry, spam katsu curry, mochiko chicken, beef curry or gyoza curry. My friend got shoyu ramen and fried rice as part of his combination set A. I got tonkatsu ramen and chicken katsu curry as part of my combination set A. Our food came out really fast. Both the ramen were creamy, and even though it said mini ramen, it was a pretty decent size. Meat was tender and juicy. Chicken katsu was great. Rice was a bit undercooked, and gyoza was okay. Overall, it was a pretty good meal for the price we paid. Our server was very attentive. You pay at the counter instead of your table (after you are done eating), so that took 10 minutes because of the line of people and a big group ahead of us waiting to pay. read more

Visiting Maui for a week and the first place I stopped by after landing, is this place. Ramen-Ya is located in Queen Kaahumanu Center on the furtherest right of the mall next to Macy's. There is usually a table available, but because of limited of seating and Fourth of July weekend, the wait to dine-in is a little more than half an hour. I usually ordered Combo B: Wonton Soup Set, which comes with wonton soup, 4 pieces of gyoza, and a choice of a rice dish. There are quite a few selections to choose from, but my go-to is the Mochiko Chicken. Wonton soup: This includes some wontons, slices of meat, and green onions. The wonton filling is quite small, it was mainly skin. The meat was dry and flavorless. Soup was good. Gyoza: This was alright. Not the best gyoza but the flavor is there. Mochiko chicken: This includes huge chicken pieces with a scoop of white rice and mac salad. The mochiko chicken was hot and crunchy with a hint of sweetness to them. The mac salad is good. Overall, don't expect the best meal ever. It was a very filling and quick meal (minus the wait time). Their combo sets were very filling and was more than enough to feed two people. Always a go to spot for fast food in town. Chicken katsu curry always hits the spot for me. It may not be the best ever but it still hits the spot. I ordered a mini and the portion was huge. When you order a regular, the portion is a mountain in the takeout box. I'd say for the portion sizes, Ramen Ya is quite affordable compared to other places. If you need something quick to eat, come here. One thing I didn't like is the vegetables in the fried rice were on the slightly hard side. The combo meal here was huge. You get a lot of food for $12. But the ramen I had was just salty. I don't know if it was just soy sauce based I am used to Tonkotsu Ramen broth. Hole in the mall ramen spot I decided to check out after reading the reviews on Yelp and Google while I waited for my bus. The food was definitely below average, but filled me up for $17. Was more food than I wanted to eat by myself really and it was a struggle. Mochiko chicken: I could taste the refrigerator in the macaroni salad. The rice was... okay. The mochiko chicken was actually pretty decent and I feel the only thing that was good. According to one review I had read, it's the best on the island (that's a pretty depressing fact to learn on day one of my trip). Tonkotsu Ramen: Woof. Not great. I barely remember eating it. Egg noodles tasted like they came from a prepackage at the store, the Tonkotsu was a forgettable piece of meat, and the soup was just as forgettable of an oil slick that added some slight flavor to the ramen. Chili oil I asked for on the side couldn't save it. Reviews I read from other folks NOT from Hawaii were right. This would never be considered good ramen stateside, let alone Japan. Gyoza: Edible. It was heated up nicely on the outside, but the filling was full of super diced napa cabbage that could've used a little more cooking and added a weirdly rough texture. Service: Fine, nothing special to remark here. One of the waitresses struck up some small chit-chat with me before I left which was nice, but no complaints here. They were fast and delivered everything correctly. Overall, I regret not just eating at the L&L Barbeque upstairs or walking over to Foodland for some poke. Unless you're truly that desperate for mediocre Japanese food, I really can't l recommend this place. If anything, I'm writing this to warn myself never to come again and to help anyone else second guessing themselves because of all the other high reviews this place has somehow earned. read more

I ate at all the Ramen Ya franchise in Oahu. All the ramen ya restaurant there was good. When visiting Maui, I see a Ramen Ya at this island too. We give it a shot & have to say still pretty good like all the Oahu locations. The combo menus of ramen + gyoza & plate rice (i.e fried rice) are my personal favorite & personal selection at any Ramen Ya place. I also prefer the Big Bowl Ramen. This Maui Ramen Ya is located in a shopping mall, therefore parking won't be an issue. However, it does have issues in regards to lines. Because high demands, sometimes it gets so packed & have to have a long wait time. But this is relatively minor. Overall, I like all the Ramen Ya Franchise places. This one in Maui is also as good as the Oahu locations. 4/5 from me. read more

Just disappointed in the chicken katsu curry. The chicken is a lot thinner than it use to be. I honestly don't mind paying more money for the same recipe it use to be (I know times are hard but I don't believe in lowering the quality of the food). I'm pretty sure they started to fillet the chicken to save money on costs. I hope they go back to the original size of the chicken. The chicken was so thin, I was pretty much eating dry bread. You have have to share tables, but it makes the experience even more enjoyable. The soup is standard and broth is very deep with flavor. The fried rice is made to order (yes to MSG) but in all seriousness, super flavorful! Mochiko Chicken -- BEST karaage chicken on the island!! If you just want to order a side of something to snack on, This is it!! The best item of the night!!!! Gyoza -- Standard but very crispy, hot and juicy. Great to share as a side dish amongst the group. Beef Curry -- Thick curry, and lots of beef cubes. Beef is a bit dense and chewy, but the curry flavor helps you wanting more. I haven't dined in at this location, I only ever get takeout because it's usually busy and it's a small restaurant. I don't feel 100% comfortable eating inside in these times. I usually call ahead to order takeout too because of the long line! But they get your food out in a reasonable amount of time, usually 15 minutes. So my review is purely based on takeout experience. I think their combo sets are a great deal! You get a huge amount of food for the price. Their "mini ramen" is basically the same size as takeout ramen I get for more expensive from other places. The food isn't amazing, it's definitely not the best, but it's not bad either! It's very middle of the road, gets the job done when you have a craving. Sometimes by the time we get home, the food isn't very hot anymore and I don't live super far away. I only live about 5 minutes away. If you want a filling meal for under $15, I definitely recommend coming here for their combo sets. The chicken katsu curry especially is worth is as one of your choices for the set. read more

The broth they used was the wonton noodle soup which is on the blander side (healthier option). No option to choose broth flavor. The beef cube curry with rice is literally another meal itself, I obviously couldn't finish. Tasted really good. Gyoza was pan fried perfectly with crisp at the bottom. Cost: $15 (ridiculously cheap) Seafood Crispy noodle - good for serving for two - $14.50 Can't beat the price anywhere in Maui and the same meal you order in NYC would probably be around $50+ read more

I love how affordable this restaurant is. Even their ramen is always so filling, plus I always have leftovers for later. As for this visit I ordered the raspberry iced tea, which also happens to be one of my favorite iced beverages to order. So I'm happy they have it. I also ordered the curry ramen, I'm not usually a big meat eater so I gave my guy the meat to add to his dish & I ordered a side of veggies to add to mine. I do however love their chicken katsu. I can't wait for this pandemic to be over so we can eat more often inside instead of take out. The price and serving is reasonable. The workers are very friendly.
