These TACOS are amazing, I grew up in Brownsville. So I've been looking for good south Texas styled tacos and these are it. My only complaint is that no matter how many times I've gone they never seem to listen to my request of no onions on the quesadilla suprema. When I say no onions on the tacos it's never a problem but no matter what they always put onions on the quesadilla. Wish that would change. read more

My hermanito told me about this food truck, he went to HS w/ the owner's niece and she had tweeted about its deliciousness. Needless to say I was not disappointed! I had been wanting to try and finally made it. I had 3 tacos de pastor, 3 de asada, flautas, and the frijoles especiales (I had help eating). So I have driven past this eclectic group of food trucks for almost a year, but never stopped in. Today I was hungry and the OPEN sign was lit, AND it said Oye Taquitos, so I naturally pulled in. This seems to be a conglomeration of misfit businesses here including a hair salon in a streamline, a bbq joint that was closed, another big red food truck that was closed, an old house that has been demolished on the inside but sells booze, and something called the barn. Anyway, it makes you wonder. I was determined to get taquitos, the young lady said they just opened at 5 pm and that the taquitos were pretty small, so I probably need 6 of them. I ordered 3 pastor and 2 of a type of bistec. $10.50 3 sauces red, green, and something else. Red is Spicy. Served with sautéed white onion and a couple of limes. The bistec were in line first and were sort of bland even though they were topped with a shredded white cheese and red sauce. The meat seems like it was finely blended and thus easy to swallow in one bite. The pastor was much better with a slight hint of pineapple and a red spice on the pork. I could eat many more of the pastor, but not the bistec. So, I give Oye Taquitos 3 stars and almost 4, but I just didn't feel the shebang that I had been hoping for. If you're a queso fresco lover like me, you'll love these tacos! My boyfriend and I tried Oye Taquito recently on a weeknight, and they were pretty busy with a large order so we had to wait about half an hour to get our food. All good, we just weren't expecting the wait on a Thursday evening! We ordered the tostaditas and 6 mini tacos. The tostaditas were nothing special, and I would skip them next time around. Tacos were half bistec and half al pastor; both DELICIOUS and came with avocado and queso fresco on top. I usually order bistec, and my bf usually orders al pastor, but we ended up flipping faves with these. My only complaint would be that we didn't get enough limes nor did we get the grilled onions that were supposed to come with our plate. We ended up wishing we ordered more, so next time we're back we'll order two plates. I haven't tried anything else from them, but if when do, I'll update this review. :-) read more

So I want to preface this by saying that I'm from Brownsville and really really REALLY wanted to like this place. I've lived in Austin for about 6 years and haven't found tacos that can compare to the ones back home, so when I found out about Oye Taquito I just about died from excitement. That being said, the experience was a little disappointing. Food: 5/5 My sister, my boyfriend, and I ordered 12 tacos (8 bistec, 4 pastor) and 2 orders of beans (1 regular, 1 especial). Keep in mind, these are mini tacos so they're quite a bit smaller than what most people are used to. Everything was delicious! A bit cold, but I'll get to that later... The beans were freshly made, the salsa was amazing, and the bistec was absolutely delicious. No complaints about quality or taste. I truly ha Price: 3/5 Each taco was about $2, and it seemed a little steep. Back in Brownsville, most mini tacos like these run you about $1. I know, I know, the cost to run a restaurant in Austin is more expensive than somewhere like Brownsville, but paying $2 for a taco you can eat in one bite is a bit too much for me. Our total for 12 tacos and 2 beans was $30, and we were still hungry afterwards. Service/Organization: 2/5 Starting from the beginning: their parking could use some work. Since they're located in a little food truck park that shares parking with a bar behind it, it was a little difficult to find parking. We had to circle around for about 5 minutes or so before a spot became available, but that honestly isn't their fault or something they can really control. Once we found a spot, we went up to the window to order. There were only two people working at the time and they seemed pretty busy so we were fine waiting a minute. We ended waiting there at the window about 5 minutes before anyone took our order, but we didn't want to make a fuss about it since they seemed like they were trying their best. Once we placed our order (to go), they said it would take about 20 minutes so we sat down on the picnic tables they had. Just as we sat down, a friend of ours joined us and he went up to order 6 tacos for himself. I decided to go into a bar called The Barn that's conveniently located right behind the food truck park, ordered a couple of beers to go with our food, and brought them out to our table. I was inside the bar for about 15 minutes and when I came back to join everyone else, our food still wasn't ready. After another 20 minutes, I saw people who had order way after us get their tacos so I went up to the counter to ask about my and my friends order. I gave the woman my name and his name and she checked on the orders. They couldn't find my friend's order ticket, so apparently it had never been made. She said she had called out that my order was ready, but we were all sitting at the table closest to the window and no one heard they call it out. It had been sitting there for a while but, regardless, I took the food back to the table and my friend waited for his food even longer. The food was a little cold when we got it, but we were so hungry and had waited so long that we didn't want to take it back. By the time we had finished, my friend had only gotten his 3 bistec tacos and, since they ran out of pastor and had to make more, waited even LONGER to get the rest. They also seemed to send their tacos out in waves. Like, not all at once but just what they had ready. We all commented that the food was great and the people were nice, but they just seemed really unorganized. All in all, great food but could definitely been more efficient. Honestly, I think we just caught them on a bad night where they were understaffed and overwhelmed. I'll be back on a different night to see if the service is any better, but given the price I don't think I can see this being a regular spot to visit. read more
