Cauntos Tacos was recommended to me by my BF, and we decided to go all in with the "1 of Each Kind" menu option. Boy, am I glad we did this--it was the perfect way to try a little bit of everything and compare favorites side by side. Sauderos - One of my top choices. Great texture and flavor with a nice richness to it. That said, carnitas and longaniza still edged it out for me. Cachete - Almost felt like a milder cousin to the carnitas. I personally preferred the milkier flavor profile of the carnitas, but this was still delicious and incredibly satisfying. Buche - Softer and mushier than I would typically like in a meat filling, but the flavor itself was undeniably good. Texture held it back a bit for me. Carnitas - A classic milkiness that's genuinely hard to beat. Rich, comforting, and probably one of my favorite carnitas I've had so far. Definitely a standout. Longaniza - I've never really been a chorizo person... until now. This completely changed my mind. Deep red color, intensely meaty flavor, rich without being overwhelming--easily one of my favorites of the bunch. Champiñones - More flavorful and spicier than I expected. The mushrooms had a pleasantly chewy texture instead of turning mushy, which I appreciated a lot. Great mushroom flavor overall. Revuelta - Not actually on the menu, but something we personally requested. Delicious combination of meats, though tasting everything back-to-back made this one come across a bit saltier. Still, the pairing worked really well and made for a satisfying bite. The sauces deserve a mention too. The green sauce packed noticeably more heat and leaned herbaceous, while the red sauce had a beautiful smokiness that completely won both my best friend and me over. Service was honestly one of the fastest and most efficient I've seen from a food truck. Everything moved quickly and smoothly despite the steady flow of people. My only real downside had nothing to do with the food itself--I hated standing outside at 8 PM dealing with bugs while eating, but that's more the nature of the setup than the fault of the truck. Overall, I was genuinely impressed by the meat quality and how distinct each taco felt from the next. Carnitas and longaniza were the clear winners for me, but there honestly wasn't a bad taco in the lineup. read more

10/10 I'll admit, I was a little thrown off at first seeing a Michelin-recognized food truck, but the second I took a bite, it all made sense. Cuantos Tacos easily has some of the best tacos I've had in Texas, and I don't say that lightly. These taste like actual Mexico tacos, not the usual Tex-Mex style most places serve. The flavors are deep, authentic, and packed into every bite. The location was super easy to find, there's plenty of parking, and lots of tables to sit and enjoy your food. Service was impressively fast too. Honestly, the tacos were so good I didn't even get a picture, I finished them way too quickly. They are on the smaller side and a bit pricier than your average taco spot, but the flavor absolutely justifies it. Every one I tried was amazing. There was one taco with an orange-colored filling that was my least favorite, I probably wouldn't order that one again, but it was still good, just not on the same level as the others. I went late at night and it was busy but line moved fast and food came out quick so don't be afraid of the line. Had some carnitas and buche tacos (buche was def the fave for me). Food truck with a Michelin nod on the east side of austin. Small, street-style tacos at very reasonable price. Order all 6 for under $16. While the tacos and sauce were delicious and very affordable, it was challenging to taste any significant difference between all of the different taco fillings. The most distinct difference was the mushroom filling - the texture and flavor were very unique versus the other meat-based fillings. The rest were certainly tasty, but again, if you'd ask me which meat was which and if they had any distinction between them I'd be hard pressed. We went at 6pm on a Tuesday and service was very prompt/fast. We were able to secure a table for our group of 4 without issue. It did fill up with other eaters by the time we left. After trying two Mexican City-style tacos--the Suadero (brisket, onion & cilantro) and the Champinones (Grilled mushrooms in Salsa Adobo, onion & cilantro), both on Nixtamal tortillas--it seemed a good idea to return sooner rather than later simply because these tacos were that good: delectably seasoned, served with fresh lime plus green salsa, and securely wrapped to go. Our first visit to this food truck on 12th street. Ample parking for maybe 20-25 cars and limited street parking with a few other food trucks including Thai. There are several picnic tables in the center so bring some wipes for tables, benches and hands. We all tried the six taco plate. They are street sized tacos with 2 corn tortillas. Came to Cuantos on a San Antonio-Austin trip from multiple friends' recommendations - and so glad we did! Cuantos Tacos is a truck located in the larger food truck park, with ample parking and picnic tables - two portapotties also. We came around 6pm on Grand Prix Friday in Austin and didn't wait long. Staff were super fast and friendly. I ordered the beef cheek and pork stomach tacos, and they were SO packed with flavor. I would have ordered more if I wasn't so full from the day's BBQ. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth, and the tacos really respect the ingredients, they don't fuss with extraneous toppings. Tacos so beyond delicious I didn't even care that they messed up my order. Cuantos is one of a number of food trucks in the food truck park at the corner of East 12th and Waller Streets, but if the continuous, persistent line from the window gives any indication, it's clearly the crowd favorite. I stopped for lunch here on a recent trip to Austin at the recommendation of a friend. I did not research ahead of time and unfortunately realized a bit too late that there were limited options that met my dietary restrictions (no red meat). But I was hungry and still excited to eat at what I as clearly a locally loved spot, so after some Google Translate of the menu (which was entirely in Spanish), I decided to go for the Champiñones (mushroom) quesadilla and the longaniza (pork sausage) costra taco. I would not recommend bringing vegetarians here, as there are extremely few things they would be able to eat. This was my first meal of the day after a few hours of travel, so I was quite hungry! They take card and Apple Pay for payments, which I appreciated, and I waited maybe 7-10 minutes for my food after ordering. There are picnic tables for you to sit that are nicely covered by shady trees, making it tolerable on a hot day. I am rather spice averse so I was hoping for nothing outrageously spicy but still wanted depth of flavor, and this absolutely delivered for that. I thought the champiñones quesadilla would be vegetarian, as it looked from others' photos, but mine absolutely had some kind of braised red meat in it, which I didn't notice until having a few bites. The smoky, cheesy flavor with a total banger of a green salsa that it came with was honestly too good to stop eating though and I have no regrets about whatever they gave me. The costra taco comes with a layer of grilled cheese inside before the meat that adds a layer of salty, deliciousness to the flavor bomb of the longaniza. This one came with a red salsa which I quite liked but not as much as the green. Neither salsa was particularly spicy for me. I ended up being hungry enough to get a third taco from the fish taco stand, which was good but not standout like the ones at Cuantos. One small gripe given to the crows who were really after my food, ruining the ambiance slightly, but suffice to say these are truly worth the effort. Cuantos is absolutely deserving of its accolades; it's a true hole-in-the-wall gem and worth a special trip out of your way to squeeze in while in Austin. On a nice day, sitting on the picnic tables, drinking a mineral agua and enjoying ridiculously flavorful tacos for under $20, is just an experience you cannot beat. read more

Second Austin taco truck (First was Veracruz on Webberville Rd) Busy Saturday!! Parking was getting tricky nearby, and it looks like the HOA/neighborhood has put up signs to cut down street parkers. The line was long but the service was moving!! They call out "ready orders" in batches of 4-6 so be sure you're paying attention. Seating is also hard but everyone is so friendly & communal you should be able to find an opening as people come and go. We got the flight and the al pastor. I enjoyed the tacos I tried from the flight as well as the al pastor special. I think it's hard to have a genuine opinion on each individual taco because they're so small & you eat them so swiftly. Consistently amazing and some of the best tacos in Austin. First went in 2023 and was impressed by quality and affordability. Three years later and much well-deserved recognition later, still serving amazing tacos. I brought a picky taco eater from the West Coast and she was so thoroughly impressed she got a second order and asked why we didn't come on her last visit. The food truck park is great all around, but this is definitely the best. The parking isn't the greatest, but it's definitely better than other parts of the city. Good, ample seating area. Maybe it is just me, but I do not understand the hype around this taco food truck. Yes, they are quintessential street tacos--slow cooked meats on two corn tortillas, topped with onion and cilantro, garnished with lime and salsa--but I feel like I have had better in Austin. When we arrived we saw a short line so we assumed that there would be a bit of a wait. Fortunately, the line on the Friday evening we visited moved extremely quickly. Orders are taken efficiently and the food comes out shortly after you order. We tried one of each taco and some of the meats tasted very similar. The overwhelming flavor was mostly fat and salt. My favorite taco was the pork stomach (buche) because it tasted different from the others and had good texture. I think that the meats are all slow cooked to perfection, but even the salsas did not do too much to help the flavors along. Perhaps, the tacos that we got were a tad light on the onions and cilantro and more of these two toppings would've helped cut the richness. All of that being said, these are still street tacos so I finished 6 with ease. Seating is all at picnic tables and benches, which can get a bit dirty especially if you are taking the table after another group. Not sure how this can be avoided since this food truck is in a food truck park and the tables are all shared. Probably the best street taco experience in Austin. There I've said it. I don't know where to start with this review other than to say Cuantos is the best street taco experience I've had in Austin. The trailer park itself is dripping with cool. From the large comfy picnic tables to the shade trees the whole area is dripping with cool. My favorite of the taco offerings was the mushroom taco. My husband and I decided to stop by Cuantos Tacos while on our E-bike ride. It's located in the Arbor Food Park in East Austin. There's plenty of seating at picnic tables under the trees. We parked and then walked up to the Food Trailer. There was a long line but I was able to look at the different items they have on the menu while waiting. When we got to the front of the line we placed our order, paid, they gave us a number, and then we found a place to sit at one of the picnic tables. My husband and I shared our meal. We ordered 6 brisket tacos, two pork tacos, two beef cheek tacos, a brisket quesadilla, and beans. The tacos are small but if you order enough of them they will fill you up. They came with sweet grilled onion, lime, red and green salsa. I added some sweet onion and green salsa to my tacos for added flavor. I don't usually eat brisket tacos but they were delicious. They were my favorite out of all the tacos. The beef tacos were greasy but still good. The pork tacos were also yummy. All of the tacos had their own flavor and all of them tasty. The brisket quesadilla was very good. The cheese was gooey and the quesadilla was filled with a good amount of brisket. The beans were full of flavor. A little spicy but addictive. Overall Cuantos Tacos has delicious food. It's in a cool outdoor space with plenty of places to sit. It's definitely a place to try if you don't mind being outside while enjoying tasty food. Wow. Cuantos Tacos has been on my Austin 'to-eat' list for a couple years now, but oh man am I glad I finally stopped by this year! Located relatively close to Franklin BBQ, it must be a sign that good eats are in this area lol - and in a neat little food truck park with a couple other vendors. These folks are serving on some amaaaazing traditional Mexican street tacos. Sized for about 2 bites for each taco, you get the opportunity to try an assortment of tacos/meats. The sign near the truck says that a normal meal might consist of 5-7 tacos, but I opted to go with 4 and see how I felt after. I chose the: Suadero (brisket) Buche (pork stomach) Cachate (barbacoa) Longaniza scrrruuummppptious! so so so good - all of them!
