The tortillas are made on-site and are some of the freshest I've had. It's winter here, week of Christmas and I do not like eating outside at food parks but because it's cold there aren't bees, wasps and flies all over the place like when it's summer, just birds. So dining outside was actually good and because it was Monday the week of Christmas, there was street parking. I love these tacos so much and if I'm being honest, I should have just gotten two migas. The crunch from the tortilla chips and the eggs and beans and poblanos and avocado is is giving just right and the red salsa is my favorite. What's the best about eating right away? It's hot. I love that their corn tortillas are just as light and fluffy as flour, so if you are a flour tortilla fan like me, this is the one place I stick with corn. IF you have to take these home, just know the tortillas are so tender you might need a knife and fork to eat the taco if can't stay in tact to pick up. I have heard that different Veracruz locations have different prices. My first visit was at the location in the LINE hotel, and I thought the tacos being so pricey made some sense. However, this taco truck location in East Austin also has $6+ tacos. This is not a good deal when Granny's Tacos and Las Trancas are delicious taco trucks in the nearby area. Another con was the wait time. It was a 45 minute wait on a Sunday at 11am, which I know is peak hours and bound to take a long time. They also have a sign that says that their food is not fast, so I should not complain about it. However, I will say it really wasn't worth the wait, but my friends wanted to wait in the long Desnudo line, so I thought that I might as well wait for a perfectly ordinary taco. I had the El Tradicional taco, which was a normal breakfast taco with eggs, cheese, potatoes, and bacon. Best tacos/quesadilla I've had in Austin. My highest of recommendations especially to this location since it's a food truck with incredible outdoor seating and right next to Desnudo Coffee. Parking is street and fairly plentiful (or was that day). The menu is large and in charge with plenty of taco options. You order at the front, they call your name. You'll grab your drink(s) from the other truck to the left. I got the El Breakfast Taco and Migas Taco. Delish! Ask for a side of chipotle Mayo for an extra kick! You can snag a few complimentary salsas from the cooler, or order a large salsa. It was super HOT. I also got a fresh squeeze orange juice which was really tasty and clearly fresh squeezed. All fairly priced, it was about $16-17 for 2 tacos and OJ. Check out some of the other cool spots in this food/drink truck circle. It's a really nice area and very Austin-esque. Monday afternoon lunch to try a food truck that serves Mexican food. Wanted to compare to Tex-Mex. We were greeted with a smile; he was courteous and patient as we were trying to figure out what we wanted and then again as we paid and was decided how much to tip. Food came within about 10 minutes and was worth the wait. We ordered Chicken mole, fish and al pastor tacos and steak quesadillas. Everything was scrumptious. I'm not Mexican but feel the food was more authentic. The mole had a slight kick to it. The fish was perfectly cooked and loved the al pastor chucks as opposed to the often shredded version. These offerings were more about the meat and how it was processed as opposed to how they can make a different variation with different toppings to call it something different. Both ways I respect. Only down side is with Food Truck eating, part of the experience is the heat with no air conditioning, and nature with flying things that want the food as much as you do. We tried 2 different Migas tacos: Migas Poblanas with Bacon Migas Tacos with Chorizo They're both filled with an egg scramble as well as cheese and tortilla chips (which makes it migas) - or as we know it in Cali as chilaquiles tacos ;) Migas Poblanas contained what it said: Poblano pepper (de-seeded), Red Onions, Black Beans, Queso Fresco & Avocado, of course they added the Bacon element to it.
