OMG...these guys are caffeinated drink masters! Came here this morning, looking for some take out breakfast. After consulting Yelp, I settled on this place because it was a reasonable walk from our hotel and had the best reviews, which are well deserved. It was packed around 10:30am on a Tuesday. The staffer behind the register was very helpful, when I asked about their chai. The Cup makes one of the BEST chai lattes I've ever had. They have two different chais to choose from. I went with the sweeter option, but it was still packed with a spicy flavor, unlike the way too sweet chai you usually find at most cafes. The barista also created a very pretty leaf pattern with the foam, so bonus points for that. I ordered a green tea for my bf and they had a page of teas to choose from, with around 4 or 5 different greens alone. Their bagel sandwiches hit the spot, although the bagels weren't the best quality. Definitely come here for the drinks and the great vibe. I could see myself working on my laptop, writing Yelp reviews at this cafe. Oh...and they make delicious banana bread as well. I remember when this place was Allison's and it just couldn't seem to fly. Tiny, cramped wobbly tables were my best guess. Then whamo. New tables and an ultra friendly staff and this place is packed every day. I love it. Good coffee and really reasonably priced pastries-about 2.50 for a cupcake, 3.50 for quiche-unheard of prices in Boulder where $6 for a piece of quiche is standard. They recently stopped taking credit cards for amounts under $5, so I will probably visit less as I don't often carry cash. Bummer. read more

Recently read an article on the top coffee shops for startups. and The Cup was among them. By chance I had a morning meeting in Boulder and we met there. The atmosphere was true to the article. Lots of laptops, espresso and excited conversation. The young lady manning he counter was the biggest morning person I'd ever seen. Like a bolt of sunshine to go with your coffee. :) Just had a latte (expertly made) but saw lots of bagels, breakfast sandwiches and other confections go by. I went in the for the first time yesterday and I was very impressed. Laid back but classy atmosphere with a lot of well-to-do young professionals. This is the kind of place I've been looking for in Boulder. I'm in a bit of an awkward spot being a 22-year old grad student. I don't fit in with the underground crowd but I'm also young for the "professional" crowd. Well, this place was definitely on the mature side but also had fun jazz blasting and friendly baristas. The coffee was pretty good too even though it didn't blow me away. The Cup is our go-to for a weekend coffee- I love sitting outside and people watching on Pearl Street. I love their iced chais, lattes, and iced coffee on nitro. Their baked goods are excellent- I'm especially obsessed with their quiches. Try the rosemary and goat cheese! read more

The lox bagel has a good portion of lox, the veggie bagel has fresh lettuce, tomato, avocado, cucumber, red onion, and I added spinach--soooo good! This is probably my favorite place to get work done on Pearl. The coffee is good and reasonably priced, and there is ample space to work. There is even a booth where you can make phone calls so that you do not disturb others. My only complaint is that I wish it was open later than 7PM on weekdays! read more

Best coffee shop in Boulder. Great lattes, great coffee, great hot chocolate. It's also the best coffee shop food you'll get in town. They have a good variety of sandwiches, salads, and (homemade) baked goods. The Cup has lots of outlets, friendly and awesome baristas, free and reliable wi-fi, a good atmosphere, and is a fun place to get your work done, meet up with friends, and/or make new friends. There's a back room that usually has space when the front room gets too crowded. My only complaint is that it can get kind of hot in the summer. Also, sometimes in the winter, the staff likes to open the garage door, which can make it COLD inside. Any time I've ever complained, though, they shut it right away. read more

I love The Cup. They layout is pretty basic and chill, with a back area with even MORE seating! I love coming here to work and it appears the students of CU also prefer to study in this cafe! The breakfast sandwiches are delightful, as are the pastries they sell. They have a chocolate fountain for mochas that I have not tried yet but am so curious about. Cute place on Pearl Street in Boulder. I enjoyed the sun and a little relaxation time on their front patio area. Their Guatemalan blend coffee is dark and delicious - and their breakfast items are pretty good as well, although the egg and cheese was too plain so I added an extra kick of tomato and basil pesto. On a Friday morning, the place was filled with people working - the downside of that being that it's tough to find a seat...and the internet was pretty slow. But, all in all, a cozy relaxing spot for a morning coffee. read more

Great, consistently beautiful and perfectly prepared espresso drinks. Also great chai lattes made with local Bhakti Chai. The barristas are very friendly and learned my name after just a few visits. Downside is the noise factor and somewhat slow and unpredictable wifi. Real men eat quiche. The Cup has the best Spinach & Feta quiche. 'Nough said. OK, maybe not. Their other baked goods appear just as good as the quiche. Of course I wish they'd heat them up in a Turbochef like they have at Starbucks, but that's beside the point. The baristas work hard and diligently. Every time I go there is a line (sometimes very short, not to worry) and they might be a bit shortstaffed - which means they work efficiently and expect me to know what I want exactly. I can live with that too because the coffees (and chai) are fantastic. They do their best to make every cup perfectly and they use really good (organic) coffee. Plenty of space in the front at high tables or the one and only couch. In the back a quiet space to get work done. They even have a cell phone booth - hint. Beautiful photographs (for sale) adorn the walls. Music can be a bit loud in the front but you can always sit outside in the sun. My favorite food item so far was a home made apple coffee cake with cardamom. They seem to have something different on the menu every day just to keep me guessing. HIghly recommended. read more

Something has changed at The Cup. I use to go there and enjoy the atmosphere and the staff. It was place to go to do some work while I enjoy their coffee and food. But now I find the experience un-joyable. It seems the place is more about the staff's enjoyment than the customer. They tend to blast the music, which makes it hard to concentrate and do work or enjoy simply being there, so lately I've been going to a different cafe. Also, the current staff seem more focused on their iPhones than the customers. This was both at the register where I waited for the attendee to finish her text, or after I placed an order and the staff around the food area was just looking at their phones. My food did finally come. I just felt the overall care for customer service has gone down hill. read more

Stopped in to do some work during my road trip from New York to Los Angeles. I suppose this is Boulder's take on a bohemian coffee shop. Nicely done, and a fine spot to get some work done, but Atlas Purveyors down the street has a better tea list and more of a "fun" feel, as well as a more congenial staff. You come in thru a garage door from the sidewalk & land in a loose cool fun college environment. Extremely helpful in picking a chai as I am not a coffee drinker. The Cup is easily one of the better coffee joints in Boulder, plus they are definitely in the craft coffee vein which makes them even better. They serve Conscious Coffee, one of the best local roasters who definitely knows what they are doing. Went in here and had solid service and a decent cup. It was a straight espresso, one of the classic Conscious blends, and they pulled it pretty well in the ristretto fashion common to third wave joints these days. I gave them 4 stars not because they did anything wrong but because they didn't particularly wow me, kinda like a slightly under-ripe avocado, decent, but has more potential then it delivers... The Cup has a great indoor/outdoor atmosphere (well, in the warm months) and is just a great Pearl street coffee shop all around. The baristas are a little crunchy and in their own world sometimes, but friendly nonetheless. The big, perhaps unknown of The Cup is their phenomenal albacore tuna sandwich on sourdough. Holy moly. After a weekend of crappy customer service, I was delighted to find the staff at The Cup super friendly. There was an obvious rush due to the looming thunderstorm and the crew handled it with humor, talent and zen. I had to try the vegan cupcake-for research-and though it was a bit too spicy (it was supposed to be Mayan Chocolate) I really dug it. It was chocolaty, moist and if I hadn't known it was vegan, I probably wouldn't have guessed. The iced coffee I got was a bit light-I would brew a much stronger batch so it doesn't lose anything over ice...but that would be the only complaint. I guess we should have brought our lap top to fit in with the rest of the typers, but we just..umm...talked... It was a very pleasant experience and I will be back. read more
