We ordered a reuben sandwich and that came with a free muffin and an egg-avacado stack - which comes on an open-face toasted bread of your choice, with spread, egg over easy and avacado. Delicious comfort food and quick service. Staff are super friendly. This place gives off an artesnal vibe. They make their own bread right in the shop and sell it fresh everyday... but at $15/loaf we found it to be a bit pricey for a regular loaf of bread. read more

We have lived in boulder for 40yrs. we have not been to this store for years, mostly because we buy our bread from whole foods. today was a shocker 14.00 for a loaf of bread and 7.50 for a cinnamon role. I was early for a pickup nearby and was so hoping the famous cinnamon roll would still be here. It's been sold a few times since Scott and Sally retired. The newer owners had simply not kept it "original" and faultless as it had been since the Creevy's opened in 1983. And yes, I was there then. When I walked in, it felt and smelled like the past. The cinnamon rolls were on a display table right out front and cleanly wrapped. They looked just like they used to. I picked a standard cinnamon as the walnut raisin is a lot more expensive than it used to be ( aside is everything in the world) but often more unpredictable in baked goodness since the store was sold the first time. As soon as I got home, I shared some with my husband though he had not been the cinnamon roll addict, I had been. Unvleievably, it was like stepping back in time. Scott and Sally would be proud of this iteration. It may have actually been their own recipe from those early years where individual stores made the basic breads and then branched out for their local market and personal skills. I'm sure so many of these specialty items which I never saw in the few Great Harvests in other states, I ever tried. It's a 5 star item in a place where I will give the shop a 4 for now until I try some other things. The wonderful brownies are on display here too, as well as so many of the cookies and breads I will sample in the future. I will ask next time if they still make the incredible lemon bars which was also a Creevy recipe I believe. It's definitely worth adding back to my shopping options. I see so many of the negative reviews are just for the sandwich service, not the bakery. I haven't been to Great Harvest in a while. Not knowing it had new (Nov 25) owners, I dropped in today to buy a loaf of Sunflower Whole Wheat. They no longer make it. I instead bought a loaf of Dakota (seeds) - it's okay but a smaller loaf than the old Sunflower WW. I expected a free slice of bread, like they've been doing for 30+ years, but when I asked the young woman said "we no longer do that." Which was weird because I noticed that the man in front of me got a free slice after he paid for his order. I suspected her snarky attitude was due to the fact I didn't leave a tip (for checking out one loaf of bread?) for my $15 loaf of bread. Yep. I won't be returning. I miss Scott and Sally! read more

I bought two loaves from here-- a high fiber and a challah--and unfortunately both were mediocre, and tasted like they had been sitting around on the shelves for quite awhile. Love the bread here! My favorite is the rosemary sourdough! Not sure of the full schedule but they definitely make it on Wednesday. I also tried the peach cream cheese scone. Didn't think there was going to be so much flavor in that scone and it was really delicious. The shop also has sandwiches and gluten free options as well. I was excited to see another Great Harvest Bread Co after the one in Newark, DE closed years ago, but after reading the reviews on Yelp, my excitement started to fade. But despite my gut feeling, I came here anyway. Note to future self: always trust your gut instinct. I sampled one of their cinnamon rolls and it was the driest baked good I've ever had. Took one bite and handed it off to my family member who liked it at first, but then hated it after finishing the sample. As if that wasn't enough of a deterrent, we went back after lunch to get their oatmeal cookies (pre-packaged) for our relative who was at home--big mistake. I didn't realize that the cookies were $18 until check out, but thought we'd take them anyway. However, upon further discussion with my family member, I decided to take the cookies back and get a refund. Luckily my transaction was still on their tablet system, so I pointed that out to the lady who helped me, and was instantly refunded--double checked my credit card app to make sure the refund showed up and it did. Thank you to the person who helped me get my refund, she was the nicest person I dealt with there and didn't give me any crap for not wanting to spend that kind of money on some cookies. TLDR; Some of the best cinnamons we've ever had. Oatmeal cookies and cream cheese scones are amazing too. The cinnamon rolls were very nice size and fabulous texture. The reason I am giving a 4 is due to possible inconsistency. There was a time it was a bit dry and overdone. The monkey bread they have is also very good. There are multiple location which may also attribute to some differences but I still find myself visiting often. read more

This was the first time coming here and I deeply regret that. This place had by far the best grilled cheese I have ever had. The grilled cheese is made with asiago cheese and you can choose your bread for it (mine being sourdough) and my mom had a make your own with turkey, tomato, lettuce, pesto, Asiago, sourdough, and cheddar. So for the grilled cheese, they put an herb cream cheese on it and holy macaroni does that make the sandwich. I could stuff myself with that sandwich everyday if I lived near this shop. The bread was cooked perfectly and was still super soft on the inside and crisp on the outside, the cheese was melted perfectly as well. My mom's sandwich was amazing as well and I normally do not like tomato on my sandwich but this was the exception for sure as the cheese, turkey, and pesto masked it. Both were just amazing and I wish I was close to here so I could come here more often. We also got a loaf of the sourdough to go and again it was amazing when we used it for sandwiches at home! They make everything inhouse and you can tell with the amazing quality. I am stopping here whenever we come through Boulder because it is amazing! read more

Great Harvest Bread is fantastic. I had not been here in years and went with a buddy for lunch. I had a great med inspired sandwich and all was fresh and tasty. There bread is so good which really makes this sandwich. I also tasted a piece of there cinnamon raisin bread and splashed butter all over it. What a tasty way to end my meal! This is such a great place for lunch but I dont know that many people know about it as most buy bread. You should really try their sandwiches as they are so great! enjoy! read more

They have a half-sandwich option, speciality sandwiches and build-your-own sandwiches too, with as many fillings as you want for the same price. The location is central and convenient to pick up a sandwich or loaf of bread when you're passing through town. They sell fresh and packaged bread and make decadent cinnamon rolls, scones, brownies and cookies, which are not cheap but not small either! The Bad: Honestly, nothing! The Food: Their bread is delicious, and so few (if any) shops make the bread for their sandwiches. I have tried several sandwiches here and they are consistent and nicely built. Ugh. So hard to find good bread in Boulder. Why does everything have to be SO dry? It's like everything is stale as soon as it comes out of the oven. Is it a conspiracy? Tried their Honey Whole Wheat. The taste is good, but I can just feel dry particles rubbing against the roof of my mouth. I've been to multiple Great Harvest Bread Companies around the country and this one was the first that I saw as packed. They had two registers and only two people working behind the counter making sandwiches so it was rather slow. They had breads ready and sliced but also fresh loaves of cinnamon burst, cinnamon swirl burst, and brioche. I was in heaven with all their options! You can ask to try any bread even if it's not on the sampler board already. I had lunch elsewhere so I picked up a loaf of fresh cinnamon swirl burst hand-sliced.
