I dislike steam cleaning carpets. I once had that done. He got the carpets so wet and all the soapy residue remains in the carpet and acts like a magnet for the dirt to re appear in a short while. It took at least 3 days for the carpets to dry. I was not at all happy. Ever since then I had my carpets cleaned with the Chem Dry method. afterwards the carpet looks almost like new and dries in about 2 hours or so. I've used 3 different companies, and I really didn't have any problems with any of them until once I called one company I've used in the past they never returned my phone call after calling at least twice. I have been using P&G Chem-Dry for about 5 years now. I searched and used other companies in the Tri-Valley area and after using them, I have stuck with them. Everyone has been helpful and provided me with ways to extend the life of my carpet, moved all my furniture (when I offered to help move a small kids table or chair). If you have allergies, twice a year is great, considering the health benefits and extending your carpet's life. My wife has dust mite allergies and instead of changing the carpet we had them clean our carpet and she seems fine. I highly recommend them to everyone. This was our first experience with P&G Chem Dry. As much as we were anticipating and excited for this appointment, we were let down. The associate that came to our door was excellent. He was right on time and very kind. Our low rating has to do with the quality of the cleaning. We've had our high traffic carpets cleaned by other companies that do a great job. The carpet comes out incredibly clean and fluffy but not with Chem-Dry. After the cleaning I had to go around and hand scrub a few smaller stains out and they immediately came out with a little elbow grease. Overall our carpets still look dingy in high traffic areas. I understand that not all stains will come out but this looks like something I could have done myself with a rental machine. The overall time it took to dry was three times the amount of time then quoted. This was a huge selling point to why we choose chem-dry but ended up being false in the long run. read more

I always thought all carpet cleaners were the same. Steam clean carpet...have big blowing fans dry the carpet...you're left with moist socks or feet from walking on the carpet for a few days. That wasn't the case with P&G Chem Dry. They assured me that my carpet would be cleaned and dry within 2hrs. That was important to me since I had a wandering toddler. Brian came to measure the carpet area and he explained to me their cleaning process. Very nice & professional guy. We were at home when they cleaned and the chemicals they used did not bother my son or dog. And after 2 hrs my carpet was clean, soft and bouncy. I think a carpet cleaning service has a lot to do with the individual who does the job. I've always had fantastic results with P&G Chem-Dry and our carpet professional is Bill Brown, who is a carpet genius. He's been cleaning my carpets for ten years. We have a $14K carpet upstairs and have lived in our home 7years with two small children. Our carpet looks as good as the day we moved in because Bill takes such pride in his work. There's nothing he can't get up, and if it's beyond help, he is an expert on patching. Once we had a coffee spill and needed it cleaned immediately, Bill wasn't avail and we had someone else come out who was rather inexperienced and he couldn't get it clean. Bill came out later in the week and the stain was gone. Call P&G, ask for Bill, and you will be impressed. read more

I have been using these guys for almost seven years. Read my prior reviews to see how harsh I can be on services and you will see that I am a tough customer. They are now using a special tile cleaning process that I have personally experienced and am very pleased with the results! Their carpet cleaning process is top notch as well! The same two guys have been coming for the entire time I have used them. They are good workers, polite and serious about their work. When discounts can be applied, they always do so to help me out with the cost. That goes a long way for me. I have used ChemDry in SoCal and like their process. P and G takes their service to another level. They come within the specified window, move items around carefully and leave my place super clean. To give perspective, I have two big dogs. Very professional and excellent service. Sean came exactly on time for our appointment and made our carpet look beautiful and like new again. Reviews have a lot of 5 stars and a couple of reviews with 1 star because of terrible customer service. I thought it's fine - my wife wants a quick dry, as long as the results are good, I can handle bad customer service. There's also a discount coupon from a magazine. I chose this over the others with mail-in coupons with cheaper service. Bad decision. Customer service - terrible! Believe the other reviews. I called for a quote, gave the exact room dimensions (2 rooms and stairs) but I was given a range. So I asked if she can give me an exact quote since I have given the dimensions - they can change if my dimensions are not accurate. Her answer does not make sense (it was blah, blah, blah...) and she was rude. So I asked her to cancel my appointment; she then became less rude :). So, I said OK with some hesitation - just so I don't have to call another one. I actually called another company but got a voice mail so this company got lucky. The day came. Appointment was between 9 and 11 am. He came at 11:45 am - 45 minutes late despite the 2-hour range. Cost - at the top of the quoted range given on the phone even with the coupon - SO keep that in mind! I was offered other services which I declined. I applied Scotchgard carpet protector myself. Quality was OK - nothing impressive. The heavy usage area and the edge by the tile floor were not that clean (not as good as my previous carpet clean in a previous home). OK - this may be one of my longest reviews. So believe me, there are better companies out there. read more

Do Not bother calling this company. I made an appointment with a window of waiting time between 1pm to 3pm. Their office called at 2:21pm to inform me that they are running late and won't be able to make it no later than 3:45pm. 3:45pm came and went. Still no show. I called to cancel and explained that I had been waiting for a long time, rearranged my schedule and cancelled my daughter's ballet. Her response was "Well, we didn't tell you to do that". Wow! Technician was to arrive between 8-8:30am today. By 8:45 there was no technician, no one answering the phone at Chem-Dry either. When I finally reached their receptionist, Annette, she said that they'd had an 'emercency meeting', but no one bothered to call us, their clients, to let us know that no one was showing up from Chem-Dry for our appointment. After MUCH prodding she gave us 10% off for our inconvenience. After another 45 minutes of no technician, I gave up and went to work. Needless to say we booked a new appointment with a DIFFERENT company for later this week. Two thumbs down on customer service for P&G Chem-Dry. Very disappointing (complete lack of) service. This company has a monopoly in Pleasanton. Sean does very good work, but read on. I've always requested him only. I've had him come to my home at least a dozen times, and thought we had a good working relationship. But today I learned otherwise. I had an appointment for the 9-11 am window for which I scheduled last week which they called to confirm yesterday. To my surprise, P&G Chem Dry cancelled at 9:11 am and told me they are not coming. Debbie told me Sean said I 'complained to corporate about his work too many times and won't return saying "he couldn't make me happy." What had I complained to corporate about I asked her? She didn't know. No manager was available. So now I do check with corporate to get some clarity and confirmed what Chem Dry told me was just an excuse Sean made up. Apparently, Sean doesn't want to clean my house any more, and never told me. I do have pets, and it's not an easy job. Though I had Sean clean my house so many times, I hadn't booked since 2015 because they kept raising their prices and not offering specials like they used to. Anyway, I learned from Corporate (1) that I had called in 2014 for him return to fix a small spot which still smelled like dog vomit. Is it complaining to ask them come back if there's an issue? I don't think so. And in 2015 (2) I did complain that he was an hour late outside the two hour window because I had to bring my son to soccer practice. That wasn't about his work or "making me happy." No one wants their technician to show up when he feels like it when they have to be somewhere. And Sean never said one word he had a problem, and I now I feel like that I gave these people my business for three years not realizing Sean wasn't on the same page when I thought we had a good working relationship. I've always tipped Sean too. It's confusing, and P&G Chem Dry is not even going to send anyone today or any day! I can't believe they would treat a customer badly when Sean never notified me that he had a problem, and what's he going to say? He doesn't want a difficult job with pets home where there are accidents? Instead blame the customer. And that's why the low rating. P&G Chem Dry has a monopoly over Pleasanton with the Chem Dry franchise so they block any other Chem Drys from coming to my home. I am sorry that I gave them so many years of my business when there are other companies like Spotless Cleaning who give amazing customer service and they do a great job. read more

We mistakenly made an appointment with the other "Chem-Dry" company (not P&G). The appointment time came and went so we called them. They arrogantly said they had a 4 hour window and were not late. This was a dead give away that we were not talking to OUR Chem Dry guys. So we canceled with the arrogant guys and called our guys (925-820-0650). What a difference! Courteous and Helpful all the way. Even did some juggling for us so our house would be cleaned up in time for our visiting guests. When the team arrived they were familiar with the layout and got right to work. When they left, the rugs looked like new. read more

Overall I'm happy with my experience with P&G. Positives: On time and gave calls to confirm and let me know when they were on their way. Very courteous and friendly Carpets looked great Negatives: Estimate was way off. Phone estimate was $250. Final cost was $425 even after they gave me an additional discount for having no furniture on the carpets. I get that an estimate is an estimate, but it being this far off makes me think that they give you the low end on the phone to get you in the door. A range would be preferable to me. The rooms in our house are not abnormally large. Looking around from a square foot basis, it's probably a fair price, but there was definitely some sticker shock. Also, I was told I would get a phone call when they were done, but I never got one. No big deal... I would use them again, but I would add some $$$ onto the estimate to eliminate surprises. read more

I only do the cleaning every other year but I had to do it this year and when I mention the problem to them last October, they would adjust the next cleaning amount. BULL'S EYE! Last week I arranged to have carpets cleaned for a senior citizen and we both were delighted with Sean, the employee assigned to our request. He did an excellent job. We feared she might have to replace the carpet to put the place up for sale but that was not the case; the carpet looked brand new and no evidence of a cat ever living there!
