This is probably one of the most racist and disrespectful establishments I've ever visited! The workers/Owners are very rude and treat everyone coming in the establishment like they're trying to steal something. I walked in to checkout an Adidas suit with 2 ladies after working out. None of us were greeted and 2 Asian men eventually approached us a short while after being in the store to ask us "what we wanted". Their general demeanor was very rude and stand-offish. They watched us and walked behind us the whole time we were in the store. The situation was very uncomfortable and we ended up leaving without purchasing anything. Pj's is a good shoe and clothing store if you don't know you don't know it's the shoe business ‍ can't please everyone

I brought my 5 year old son, who has sensory issues and is VERY particular about his shoes, into P & J's to see if we could find him a new pair of shoes that met all of his needs. He went through a pair after pair and nothing was quite right for what he wanted/needed--too short, too tight, hurt in the back, no laces, but the staff took it in stride and kept working with us. Eventually they went to the back and found him two pairs that checked off all of our boxes and we got both. My son seriously tried to wear one of each pair to school this morning and had no issues at school today, which was the first time he had a smooth sailing shoe day in a long time. Their patience and willingness to go through their stock room was so appreciated and just what we needed. For parents with children special needs, situations like this can be stressful in and of itself, so having employees willing to go the extra mile means a lot. read more

My son and I have been going to pj's since he was ten,he's 22 now and we have always had a friendly welcome. The owner is great and so are his sons and others that work there. They of coarse have all the latest trends at a great price. We have always gotten a discount and I think that is because we were frequent customers . They have larger sizes, 13 and up which we appreciate because it's hard to find larger sizes. Yes, the neighborhood isn't Michigan Ave, but the best kept secrets are places you'd least expect. Its quite obvious that Nef who wrote the review about the 11 Breds at PJs has very little knowledge about the shoe game. And if you dont know much about the shoe game this isn't the place to go for a release as big as the 11s, that part I will agree. There are very few independently owned shops that will give info about a release like that over the phone and you will usually have to pay more because youre guaranteed the shoe (unlike chains like Foot Locker, etc). No, its not totally legit but its how the game works, for better or for worse. I feel sorry for Nef because he clearly tried to walk in early and get a pair of shoes that hadn't been released yet, and I have the shoes now and had no problem getting them from PJs. So, if you want a major release, you can get it at PJs. I'd recommend going one or two days before and asking what the process will be. You may or may not get an answer about a raffle ticket. Then, camp out the morning before. When dude comes out and says they aren't selling them unless you have a ticket or whatever, stay there. Then, when they give you a price, pay it or walk away. Or, go before release day and pay double or triple retail of the shoe. If you aren't looking for a major release, its a decent shop. Kinda crowded. Has most decent Nike releases, definitely an urban/hiphop flair. Nothing is labeled with a price. Yes, the owner names the price when asked. Normally its about 20$ more than I think is reasonable, unless the shoe has been on the shelf for awhile. He's built a customer base on loyalty. People who go in there every week or every 2 weeks and buy shoes don't have to deal with the 20$ price markup or the run around over majorly sought after shoes. Also, don't expect to bargain with him in front of other customers. Ultimately, I give them 4 stars because I've never had a problem getting a major release shoe. I've had friends tell me stories about waiting in line for hours and eventually not getting the shoe, and I've never waited for more than an hour or so and I've never walked out empty handed. DO NOT SHOP IN THIS STORE!!!!! My son bought me shoes here for Mother's Day that were too small so I bought them in to exchange them. The owner tried to show me more expensive shoes that I didn't want. When I found a pair, tried them on and decided I wanted them, as I was putting them in the bag, he snatches them out of my hand and says "$10 more! I changed my mind!" This is a way of railroading people and taking their money from them. I asked him 3 times if they were the same price as the other ones and he said yes every time. I called the police and waited about 25 for them to arrive and then he was peaches and cream. His whole issue is that I didn't put the money in his hand. I admit that I threw it at him. Too many times I've watched Korean shop owners open businesses in urban neighborhoods, hire one Black person and treat their customers like dogs(i.e. beauty supply stores)Take from the community and give nothing back. The police gave me my shoes, I put the money on the counter and left. Never again!!!! And to the young black man that works for this dog, don't spend the rest of your life selling sneakers for someone who treats you and your people like shit. You have way more potential. read more

So i wanted these jordan 13s (he got game) that drop on march 16th... when i preordered them 4 weeks ahead of time for $230... $10 extra because i didn't preorder 1 week earlier for his liking. he told me ill give the to you 2 weeks ahead on march 1st. ok let that one go. Heading there on Friday march 1st and had a feeling he didn't have them and called him and he kept telling me on the phone that they come out on the 16th (which i already know) and hung up on me multiple times (Scum). then he finally told me next week on the 6th or 7th he'll have them. waited. then called on tuesday.....nothing and hung up on again. wednesday.....nothing and he picked up the phone and was changing his voice to hide his weak identity. and told me Thursday or weekend well have them by. i called thursday... nothing. So today Friday i called to see... they told me again and again march 16th (sat). and hung up on me again. Walked into the store instead of getting hung up on to confront him about this situation and right away he said "you want a refund" which is nice but i want the shoes. and he went on to tell me that he didn't have the shoes sorry we cant do anything. but i went on to discuss the problem I've been having and he seemed like he could care less and WASNT sorry for the misinformation or problems I've been going thru for some information about when the Jordan's were in from the company. he's a korean owner and is a scum and the light skin black guy (ROB) that works there doesn't know what he was talking about either. the owner would rather give me my money back then have a customer that just purchased 4 Jordan's within the last month happy. So after 20 mins of trying to talk with him he says he will give me box price on my next pair, so i ask him how much for the jordan 11 low and he tells me $210 when i just preordered them ($180) from him the last time i preordered the jordan 13. so he wanted to charge me $30 extra for shoes that i already preordered (jordan 11) for $180. i know and he knows the jordan 11 lows don't go for 210. he said he was estimating. but i call that a lie because he's been in business for years now and he knows his prices and just tried to come up on 30 extra bucks. btw while I'm there explaining to this thick skulled korean that he wrong ANOTHER customer comes in wanting the same jordan 13 he got game shoes because he told THEM they could get them by friday, but unfortunately they got told by him too and i told that customer my problem they couldn't believe how bad of an owner this guy really is. is if you want to over pay for your jordans and get treated by this scum then walk right in becuase he sure wont answer and questions on the phone. bad business man. learn to take care of your customers instead of looking through the person for their hard earned money. what a moocher. read more

If I could rate them a zero I would. I believe a one star is extremely too much. I went here looking for some all black Air Max for my nephew the guy originally said no taxes then when I got to the register he rang up taxes when asked why? He told me because he felt like it. I turned around to tell my mother I won't be coming back in the store again but I told him go ahead I'll still going to purchase the shoes. He places my money back on the counter and said the shoes are no longer $89 now they 120 and am i in the conversation now, and he refused to sell me the shoes he basically changed the price 3 times while I was at the register. I will never walk through these doors again when I originally walked through the door and I said good morning no one spoke back. I will give the African American gentleman that works the floor credit he is very polite but the Chinese owner is extremely rude condescending and ignorant. P & J's is a shady operation. My girlfriend went in there to try and buy some Retro Jordan's for me and they tried to get $1000 per pair from her because she isn't too knowledgeable with the Jordan brand . Laughable. I went in with her another day and they wanted a little over market value as I knew what I was talking about, but, alas I got myself a pair of black infrared size 15's. So... besides them actually having Retro Jordan's in the back of the store... they will for sure try and rip you off and are completely rude.. so I am only giving 1 star. The people who have given 5 stars are probably friends.. as everyone else knows how rude they are. Buyer beware. Please try and look up prices online if you plan on buying from them. The owner is extra rude on the phone as he is in person because he knows he is running a shady operation. Know your prices before you buy. so i pre ordered some jordans here. the olympic 7s. went there on they day of the release and the dude there said he sold my shoe i pre ordered. i was in a state of total disgust. they didn't seem to care at all. the guy show any kind of remorse. this place is terrible. they didnt offer me any kind of retribution for their huge mistake. take my advise and never go back to this place. they stare you down once you walk in the store and there is always workers watching you. read more
