My friend and I realized we hadn't been to a PFC in years, so we decided to give it a go after walking the mall for a couple of hours. We were there on a Tuesday about 4-5pm, so it wasn't super crowded, and we were met with friendly faces. The vibe is casual but got more chic and dim as the night wore on. They have half-off apps for happy hour (I believe 3-6pm weekdays), so I got the lettuce wraps and BBQ pork ribs. I don't believe this was an appetizer, but my friend ordered a dynamite sushi roll as well, which is tempura-battered shrimp over a California roll. I opted for their meal deal for my main, which includes a smaller portion of an appetizer, rice or noodles, and an entree for about $18 for dinner. I got the pork egg roll as my starter choice (not pictured) and the firecracker shrimp entree with rice. The food is fine, but I felt the rice portion was a bit small, and it was overall just ok. Not amazing, not terrible. It does the job, though, so no fault there. I think where PFC unexpectedly shines is their desserts. Or maybe they were having a good night, but the seasonal banana spring roll dessert was delish! I didn't get a picture because we ate it so fast. I appreciate that PFC also has a loyalty program, so now, both my friend and I have a reward waiting for us upon our next meal there, and we get free edamame each time. Hostess was rude about booth seating during a less busy time. She would not tell us how long we could wait and forced us to sit at a small table. When booths opened around us, we didn't get to move and waited a very long time for dinners (party of 4). Tonight not much went well at this PF Chang's. Service was pretty slow all night. When we got our chicken lettuce wraps, there was not enough lettuce. We had 6 small romaine lettuce leaves, clearly not enough for the meet mixture. Also there was too little sauce. When we asked for more lettuce, they forgot to bring it. We had to ask again. Getting anything-- more lettuce, more tea, our soups or salads, required asking then waiting far too long for them to arrive. We ordered chef's dinner, which included appetizer, soup or salad, and entree. They brought our entrees before our soups and salad. I ordered the sesame chicken, which I had tasted before, but tonight it was not well prepared. In the past it had a nice, crispy exterior but this time it was soggy and seemed not quite as flavorful. They brought the soups and salad soon after our entrees but my salad came in a warm bowl. I don't know if they provided a warm bowl because it was just out of the wash or because they meant to serve this salad warm. (I'm skeptical of intentional warmth because the type of lettuce would likely wilt and be unappealing if served warm.) I've rarely had a less impressive salad. About 60% was lettuce, 39.5% croutons, 0.5% carrot slivers. A very basic small salad served inside a soup cup. It had a mediocre almost undetectable dressing. Busboys also paid no attention to our table most of the night. Plates piled up, no one bothered to clear any after they were not in use. So tonight it was mediocre service and mediocre food and I expect I would stop going to all PF Chang's if I have one or two more experiences like tonight's. read more

Worker's were great, waitress was polite, but the manager wasn't that pleasing to say the least. I first was sat at a table where the lighting was shine down on my head which made it hard to even read the menu so the esthetic was pretty bad. I didn't think nothing of it until I got my food and realized I had to tilt my head to even see what I was eating. Then the rice that came with my meal was undercooked, my sister complained her Hong Kong beef was bland. Then I report this to the manager and she first gave me an insulting look when I mentioned the lighting and said well why didn't you tell us in the beginning? I didn't think nothing of it when I sat down and told her I'm not the type to really complain. It wasn't until after eating I noticed how hard it was to see. I told her about the food and she did give us a $7 discount off the bill and even a piece of "pie" which turned out to be just a "cupcake". I don't really care for this place. Some of the appetizers were overly spicy almost to the point of overshadowing the other food. I felt the size of the main entree was on the small size and wasn't very tender or flavorful. First time at PFC in a few years, decided it was worth a fresh review. We normally do takeout from PFC, but we are dining in tonight, the ambiance and decor (5/5) are much nicer than I remember--perhaps it was updated. For starters, the bartender was our waiter for the night. He said they were understaffed. I thought he did a very commendable job (4/5)! We ordered the pork dumplings (4/5) for an appetizer. The pork was tender, as was the dumpling, and the sauce was tasty without being overly salty. I ordered the kung pao chicken for my meal. I'm a kung pao guy. That's what I get at every Asian restaurant I go to. This was, hands down, the best kung pao chicken (5/5) I've had in years! Overall, highly recommended! read more

I had mongolian beef this last time and could not have been worse.. Ltetally counted 7 pieces of dried out beef with no flavor at all. absolutely unacceptable.. P F Chang is a personal favorite chain for Chinese cuisine especially given that I am allergic to sesame. I have visited other chains in the past and they were very careful of the condition. This outlet was however sheer disappointment. I was out there on a date night and we had shared the allergies to the server while placing orders. 1. The service was extremely slow when the place was not even so busy. 2. The person who took the order and who served were two different people. 3. My server had mentioned the allergies but who got us the glass noodles plate had sesame sprinkled all over it and it was even served without checking. Luckily it's a visible thing and I didn't eat it. 4. My server reported to the manager. Manager got the order replaced and mentioned that my dish was on the house however they charged me anyway. I didn't check the bill while paying... Only realized they did nothing about it only after reaching home. In all a perfect way to ruin a special night and even risking your life. Wow, agree with other recent reviews, this place has gone downhill. My fav dish was removed from the menu (walnut shrimp w honeydew melon and that delectable yellow sauce, shrimp only LIGHTLY fried - so sad, RIP). The boys called the orange chicken 'fried mash potatoes.' I think it was just a lot of batter but they are convinced it was potatoes being used as a cheap substitute for more expensive chicken. All of the dishes were HEAVY fried even when it said LIGHTLY battered, and were NOT crispy as named on the menu. All dishes were served on a lot of white crunchy noodles. If you are trying to avoid carbs, study the menu before deciding on this place! Beverages, Egg Rolls and Crab Rangoon were just ok, but the egg rolls were large and sliced in half, there was a plus. Last, while our server was nice, she rushed us through the meal when the place was mostly empty. Was WAAAAY too expensive for cheap carbs. So sad, PF Changs run is over, will not be back. read more

The service was great. No complaints there. The ambiance was typical for what you would expect at a PF Changs, though the tables are very tightly packed on top of each other, making it feel very cramped. The cleanliness was less than desirable. Had to have our table recleaned because it was so sticky we couldn't lift the menu off the table. And watching the busser clean the table behind us by just wiping it with a napkin instead of actually cleaning and sanitizing it before they sat someone else at it was disturbing to say the least The food itself was almost consistent with what you would expect from PF Changs. I ordered the crab and pork belly fried rice, which is one of my favorites. It, for some reason, wasn't on the menu but was available. The crab and rice were great, while the pork belly was under-rendered. Normally, the belly has the qualities of bacon and guanciale. This had a lot of chewy fat that was not very pleasant. It was great when I reheated the leftovers because I could fix it, but I would have preferred to have it done right so that I didn't have leftovers to take home from the restaurant. read more

We eat out a lot and are no stranger to PF Changs, but haven't visited in a while. Now, I'll never have to visit again. Every aspect of our experience, except the food, was terrible on every basic level at their Northbrook, IL location. First, after being seated on time (good), we waited an extraordinarily long time for someone to even check in on us. The wait was so long, that another waitress from across the restaurant came over to say she'd get someone as she noticed we were abandoned. The Hostess came by and apologized for the wait, but it was still several minutes before our server came to get our drink order. It was so long that we were able to put both drink order and appetizers in at the same time. That was a mistake. The appetizers came out well before our drinks (pet peeve). Not only that, we ordered an order of egg rolls and they brought us one, not three. And when the drinks finally did arrive, the old fashioned was about a third as full as surrounding others had. And as it was sitting by the bar for so long, the smoked element was long gone. We could see the drinks sitting at the bar and had to ask the food delivery person to get our server to bring them. She blamed the bar, but we clearly saw that they were ready and waiting for some time. Even then, one beer was skipped and another didn't even have a glass for it. Just a can. We let it go and moved on. We ordered our entries and the sushi came way before the heated entrees. Several minutes more. At least 15. During which drinks were finished and water gone without anyone, including our server, refilling or asking if we wanted another. When the food finally came, at least it was warm and actually good, but by then we were almost ready to walk out. Zero attention from waitress. Zero. Finally, we asked for the check. Minutes pass again. No water offer, no drink offer. It's important to note that the restaurant wasn't near full, maybe 60-65% tops. I was going to ask to speak with a manager but it at least appeared no manager was present and to be honest, we were so tired of the experience we didn't want to be there any longer than we had to. Every restaurant has glitches, but I've never seen such indifference and incompetence at every level. Who messes up the basics? Too much competition for my dollar (the bill was $200) to be wasted on a truly bad experience. I'm a patient person as was my party, but this was literally ridiculous. Done with PF Changs. read more

After walking around Woodfield Mall my husband and I needed dinner. I am on a gluten-free diet and was so happy to find P.F. Chang's has a gluten free menu. The food was delicious and our server was fantastic. There was a bit of wait time for the food, but it was worth the wait. They were able to adjust their green beans sauce to make the appetizer gluten free as well. It was much appreciated. 5/5 GF Chicken Pad Thai with the fresh cilantro, limes, peanuts. I took a girlfriend for Lunch for her birthday. The food was good and the server was great. We ordered the chef dinner and it took a long time to get the entrees we sat there for a while. The tables and floors were sticky and it turned me off. Not sure if I will ever go back . Soup was warm not hot . They sat us by the bathroom and It smelled. This was my first time ever going to PF Chang's! This location is located in Woodfield Mall, right next to one of their many entrances. We made a reservation, but still had to wait around 30 minutes to be seated. Our server was so so sweet and informative. He went over a lot of menu items and was just so great. I really liked our meals, too! We got the kung pao Brussels sprouts for an appetizer, then I got the sesame chicken and my boyfriend got the crispy honey chicken. The kung pao Brussels sprouts were probably one of the best Brussels sprouts I've ever had!! I loveddddd my sesame chicken, as well. However my boyfriend wasn't a huge fan of his crispy honey chicken. I tasted it, too, and thought it was okay. Our meals both came with rice, but the rice was very dry and hard so we didn't really eat it. Terrible experience! I took my parents out for their 63rd wedding anniversary. We ordered the 3 course dinner and everything came out within 5 minutes of each other. There was no room to even put our dinner plates on the table so the servers took it back and put it under heat lamps. The food came back out 10 minutes later and was dried out.
