MingHin Cuisine is the best dim sum restaurant outside Chicago. My husband and I joined some friends there for lunch. We ordered a lot of food. We had the shrimp dumpling, siu mai, shrimp dumpling pea tip, country style dumpling, pork dumpling peanuts, BF ball, short rib with honey sauce, baked BBQ pork turnover, deep fried shrimp roll, fried veggie pork bun, crab meat seaweed roll, shrimp crepe, baked creamy egg yolk bun, baked BBQ pork bun, and the BBQ pork bun. It was all good and is all freshly made in their kitchen. I highly recommend MingHin Cuisine for great dim sum.

MingHin is a staple for me in Chicago. I usually go to the downtown or chinatown locations, so this is the first time in the burbs. I almost think it's better - this just might be my bias coming from SoCal as it reminds me of home dimsum spots a bit. Everything was really legit/delicious. Not a miss at all. I brought friends who had never had dimsum before and they enjoyed it. All the regular dishes such as shu mai, char siu bao (they have both the steamed and baked), shrimp dumplings were really fresh and good! I also tried a couple new things too like the honeycomb tripe with daikon, the pork spare ribs with rice rolls. Parking is a dedicated lot, super easy lots of spots - like expected in the burbs!

Any time I visit it is very busy and always consistent. The food is so delicious and nothing ever really disappoints. I absolutely love the beef stir fried rice noodles, the shrimp fun rolls, shrimp hargow and any of the shrimp dumplings tbh. Whatever we ordered was all delicious and I would highly recommend to go for a nice dinner or lunch. Its beautifully decorated inside and is very clean, the staff is very attentive, easy to order on tablet on the table, and food comes out fairly quickly. Great for family dinners, date night, with friends, etc.

Great place to get dim sum in the suburbs. Get all the rewards of authentic Chinese dim sum without all the hassle of driving into the city. A few of the standouts has to the pork siu mai, roast duck & the fried roasted pork cubes that has a sugar salt dipping mixture. I luv that the waitstaff kept refilling the hot teapot and water glasses continuously. I wanted to highlight the restaurant is light, bright and airy and has a beautiful chilulyesque chandelier over the bar. The space seems thoughtfully curated with contemporary Chinese decor!! Chinese Lions greet you as you enter the establishment! Overall a really solid dim sum experience.

09/28/25 - My buddy hosted a dinner for his mom's 88th birthday. Now I have gone to other event hosted by my friend & I knew it was going to be a special extravagant event that would spare no expense. In Chinese culture, the 88th birthday is considered particularly significant due to the number 8 being associated with good fortune and prosperity. The pronunciation of the number 8 (八, "bā") is similar to the word for wealth or fortune (发, "fā"). As a result, reaching the age of 88 is often celebrated as a milestone, symbolizing not only longevity but also a blessing of wealth and good luck. We were among the fortune to be present for this event. The 88th Birthday Celebration was quite an event w/3 stages starting w/8 different dim sum dishes filled by 8 different entrees & finished w/8 different desserts. Happy 88th Birthday to your mom & thank you for an awesome memory & dinner When we were allowed to be seated there was a section of 10 tables for our group w/88 people waiting for a spectacular meal. There was a printed card on the table that showed us where we were to be seated along w/a a laminated sheet w/a picture of his mom 88th birthday celebration. On the flip side the same card he had a printed menu of the items to be served both in English & Chinese. There were 8 different dim sum dishes, 8 main entry dishes & 8 dessert items. We all sat there licking our chops waiting for the extravaganza to be begin. To start the swarm of servers came buzzing about bringing the bringing the different dim sum dishes out as the starving vultures attacked the food. This was followed by 8 entrees & 8 desserts (SEE ATTACHED MENU). The service was very good as the food was brought out to each table (no small task) Overall the dinner & service was simply amazing

Puffy Egg Custard Tart - stale

We get MingHin occasionally when we are craving some authentic Cantonsese Chinese food. However the food we got today was a bit of a miss. For the Steamed Scallop and Vermicelli with Garlic (6 pcs), we asked for no chilies on top, but they ignored that request. They also used cheap bay scallops on top of sea scallop shells which seems like a bait and switch. Their pastries like egg tarts were also stale and not fresh. Disappointing considering how expensive they've gotten lately. Probably will not return until they fix some of these issues.

First time trying this location, I've been to their other location in downtown. This place is huge! Came on a Wednesday night and partook in the "weekday happy hour" for 20% off my order. Food was tasty but not fresh. We could tell that everything was premade...some wrappers were gummy, pastries were a little dry, meat was chewy. Shrimp dumplings were large and filling was tasty but the wrappers just fell apart. I would have given it 4 or 5 rating if I had come on the weekend and the dumplings were fresh. You order from the iPad and servers bring you hot tea.

I was in town for a wedding and visiting family, my flight back unfortunately was cancelled. But the silver lining: I got to eat one additional meal with family and got to try this place. My family and I ordered some items off the dimsum menu (they have dimsum all day) as well as regular dishes. We ordered so many things I don't quite remember all that we got, but that I can recall: squid, snow peas, shrimp chow fun, ha gow, Chinese broccoli (?), seafood tofu bowl. For dessert: pineapple custard buns, sesame balls. I was thoroughly impressed by all the food. The veggies were all cooked really well (not raw and not overcooked) and had light but flavorful seasoning. The hagow had nice big shrimp chunks inside. The dessert buns were also very delicious as well, and I think come in perfect sizes. The service is pretty quick and the inside has fancy/luxurious Chinese-style decoration inside with a flare of modern.

I want to MingHin today for their happy hour. There were hardly any cars in the parking lot. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants as of recently it has gone down tremendously the quality of food the taro puff, and the shrimp eggroll was very good. The beef chow fun had no flavor. The beef was very thick and tough. I think they just reheated the meat and then throwing some noodles Very bland. I tried the Hong Kong clams no sauce very dry. We also had the pea pod flower with Japanese tofu, that was good. The rice seemed old tepid. The service is lacking not sure if I'll be back. I hope they improve their food because there's not a lot of dim sum in the suburbs.

We were in the area and our friend brought us to this restaurant. There's a dim sum menu and a regular menu. We ordered off both. The dim sum was good, especially the shrimp crepe (cheong fun) & the xiao long bao. The chicken feet (fung chow) also had a sweet kick to it. We were surprised by how tasty the short ribs with honey sauce were. Good choice! 2:30-5:30pm 20% discount! The parking lots is huge. Lots of space. The restaurant is beautifully decorated- very nice with a high class vibe.

MingHin in Rolling Meadows has been our go-to spot for dim sum and Chinese cuisine for several years now. We're truly fortunate to have such an authentic and high-quality restaurant right here in the suburbs. Whether it's a casual weekend lunch or a special celebration, we've visited countless times for all kinds of occasions. The restaurant is bright, clean, and tastefully decorated--a comfortable blend of traditional and modern elements that creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for any gathering. Whenever our friends from out of state come to visit, a dim sum lunch at MingHin is a must. We always arrive right when they open at 11:00 a.m. (to avoid the long line if you come during the peak time from 12 to 1), and often linger until 2:00 p.m., catching up over delicious bites. No one ever seems to mind our long stay. The four of us usually get seated at a six-person table in a semi-private area, mainly because we order way too much food every time and we need a big table top! The staff are always friendly and accommodating, which adds to the experience. Most recently, we celebrated my sister-in-law's birthday there with a banquet-style dinner. All the dishes were pre-ordered (see photos), and everything was outstanding. The standout dish of the night was a lightly battered, deep-fried Chilean sea bass - not even on the regular menu. It was served piping hot, incredibly fresh, and full of flavor. To top it off, we were each given a complimentary warm Lava Salted Egg Yolk Bun, though some of us had to take them home--we were too full to enjoy them on the spot! Special thanks to manager Raymond and captain Wing, who always go out of their way to make guests feel welcome. In summary: * Food: 4 to 5 stars * Service: Solid 5 stars * Ambience: 4.5 stars We'll definitely keep coming back for our dim sum cravings and special Chinese meals. MingHin continues to be a place that feels like home.

Every time we're in Chicago we go to Ming Hin in Chinatown but didn't have a chance to so we tried the suburb location. Food was good but not quite as good as the city location. The fried rice was significantly different as I'm a huge fan of the shrimp fried rice at the Chinatown location. The rapid speed of the food service is just as quick as the city so that was great. I did like how this location did look better although it's likely because they have more room and it's newer.

Been awhile since we've been to this place. It's great for groups, however it's annoying that they didn't seat up until all 7 of us where there. 5 of us are ready to order and eat but they won't let us. We asked a few times and even when there were tables available, they still didn't budge. Happy to see new menu items though.

My wife, her mom, and I were in Chicago to remember my father-in-law's death anniversary, and my sister-in-law chose Chef Ping's, for our party of nine for a Wednesday lunch. Parking is plentiful and the dining area can seat a lot. We got seated at a large round table in the back room, with a large lazy susan (just need to remember to spin it very slowly). We ordered a lot, and the food came out slowly. There was plenty of leftovers for the local folks to have for future meal or two. 3 Shrimp Toast (6 pieces each) - $26.85 - greasy but good, with the shrimp paste being a little sweet (in a good way) Noodle in Black Bean Sauce ($12.50) - this is jja jang myeon, which two of us had the previous night. It was OK, not near the top of the best I've had. Ping's Noodle Soup ($15.50) - the other classic Chinese-Korean dish, this is jjampong, a dish I've had many times. I was the only one to eat it, so ended up being my main dish. It was good, with thick noodles...just wish it had more seafood. Salt & Pepper Smelt ($16.90) - not sure if always available, but this was excellent...my favorite dish and one that I finished once I realized that everybody had their fill. It really depends on the quality of the smelt, which was excellent in this case. It was lightly battered, and carefully deep fried. Other dishes enjoyed by others: 2 Salt & Pepper Prawns - $35.90 - large head-on shell-on prawns fire wokked. Salt & Pepper Tofu ($11.50) - for the vegetarians Chicken Skewers (4) - $8.75 - tender and shareable Walnut Shrimp ($19.90) - mayo with shrimp Young Chow Fried Rice ($12.50) - fried rice is a necessity for our group Mongolian Beef ($17.50) - a classic 2 Sesame Ball (4) - $7 - a great way to finish a meal. 18% tip was automatically added, and service was OK throughout. Our water was kept refilled, and I think hot water was as well. It was a good meal and opportunity to get back together

Both the service and quality of food has gone way down from what they were famous for. The waitress spilled my tea, also dipped her finger in my tea, had no apology or offer to exchange it with a fresh cup. I had to ask her for a fresh cup of tea. Then the other server that brought our entrees spilled my husbands tea and again no offering to getting a fresh cup. We had to ask AGAIN for a fresh cup! While the portions were generous, the quality of all the food has gone way down. The special family recipe of thier shrimp dish Gan Pong is nothing but fried shrimp with dried chili peppers and no flavor. The Hunan spicy beef and chicken appeared to be all globs and sticky because of excessive and over use of corn starch used during the cooking process. This dish didn't have any unique flavor that one would expect. Previously we had experienced a difference in the food, taste and quality and that's what kept us returning. Sadly, after this experience I wouldn't recommend it to anyone or come back! I'd rather stick with Yu's Mandarin than drive to this place! Quality always wins over quantity in my books!

It's been a tough lately since our go to place changed ownership and the quality declined. Hong Kong Restaurant is a small, family owned restaurant in the same strip mall as the Ace Hardware. It's a take out only restaurant, no tables and no seating. The lady is so nice. I called ahead asking how her General Tso's was made with brown sauce or if it was an orange type of sauce. She gave me a good description and mentioning it had some spice to it, but not offensive. It was exactly what my husband wanted. It wasn't overly breaded and the sauce was sweeter, savory with a little heat. He was a happy man. The fried rice had plenty of chicken and cooked well. The portions were huge! I also ordered beef and broccoli Cantonese chow mein. This was delicious! There was so much beef and broccoli, the sauce wasn't salty and went perfect with the chow mein noodles. We ordered egg rolls and crab rangoons too. Both we were good. The wrapper was a little thicker than I prefer, but they were both good. I'm looking forward to trying other dishes on their menu like their egg foo yung. No pics ... hungry teenaged boys dove into the food right away.

The menu, like what you will find in Malaysia - a mixed of Chinese, Malay, and Indian. The service is always prompt. Here's what I ordered: 1) Roti Canai served with Malaysian chicken curry - the curry is unlike Indian curry. This is a typical Malaysian style curry. You take a piece of the crispy yet a little chewy pan fried dough and dipped in this curry broth. That combination will kick off your appetite. 2) Seafood and Tofu clay pot - a mix of fish fillet, squid, shrimp, vegetables and homemade tofu served in a clay pot. The tofu is delicious - crispy outside with soft and silky center - chef's kiss! 3) String bean mixed with balacan - balacan is a Malaysian sambal sauce made with shrimp paste and chili. It has this savory, sweet and lightly spicy flavor mixed with crispy string beans. It was a delightful dinner! The cashier was incredibly friendly and helped us navigate ordering on a large tablet. The outside sign still says Wing Wah, so it's a little confusing at first. We ordered an old favorite my kid loves -- "Junk Fried Rice" -- along with egg rolls and Thai red curry. One thing to note: the menu uses AI-generated photos (complete with a Gemini logo), so don't rely too much on the pictures. That said, the cashier even asked us to call after dinner to share how everything was, which was a nice touch. The food itself was solid. The fried rice was especially well done, the curry wasn't very spicy but had good flavor, and the egg rolls were noticeably improved from the old version. Overall, a great first impression.
