    Teriyaki chicken bowls
    James W.

I ordered a Katsu chicken bowl and a teriyaki chicken bowl For delivery. What I received was 2 teriyaki bowls. When I called to complain Nathan informed me they were out of Katsu chicken and they substituted the teriyaki without bothering to call me and check what I would like instead. Nathan and he said he would refund me the money for the katsu chicken bowl. Let's see if I get it credited back to my credit card. I'll update this review in a few days and let you know.

For a while I had been hearing people talk about this place, they would say it's like crack, so I finally decided to try it. Yes, absolute crack. I only remembered to take pics half way through. It's the best teriyaki in the burbs.

Chicken teriyaki, yes they are supposed to be the same order.

We have tried this location twice. The first time was opening night, everything was good. I would have rated it 4 out of 5. Tonight we ordered 4 chicken teriyakis, a beef teriyaki and an orange chicken. The beef and orange chicken were good. The problem was the chicken. Two looked like a breast that was cut into long strips and two were cut in cubes or just mangled. The two cubed chickens were burned. One chicken was cut extremely thin and although it looked good it was completely over cooked, it was tougher than jerky. I noticed that one chicken cut into strips was thick, it was ok. There was a few dry ends. I'm assuming they cooked the thick one and thin one the same amount of time causing the thin cut to be inedible. Poor quality control. I had high hopes but I'm not sure we'll come back based on tonight's meals. 3 out of 6 entrees were inedible.

Always solid food, relatively healthy, and at a decent price. The chicken has a great char. I highly recommend the spicy chicken, which is a great combo of heat and sweet from the teriyaki. Teriyaki sauce is solid. They have a good rewards program too for earning free bowls, but you do have to add your receipt (vs scanning a code at the register) and I'm always forgetting.

    Teriyaki chicken with fried rice

I decided to go to their grand opening and knowing I like teriyaki chicken I figure I give them a try ! I order 2 bowls..1 with white rice and 1 with fried rice..The chicken was really tender and juicy! The teriyaki sauce is very tasty! The vegetables were cooked very well..the only reason this didn't get 5 stars was because my rice was halfway cooked..yes the rice was still raw..white in the inside..hard..didn't cook all the way true so the rice was kinda of hard..the sauce was the only thing that help soften the rice but I couldn't finish the rice ...this would be a great bowl if the rice was cooked better...

Wow. I found myself…read morein Arlington Heights, and my buddy suggested this place due to an upcoming trip to Japan in 2027. It's a Japanese market that features an amazing food court (and this is where I spent all my time.) I don't recall the name of the stall I purchased from. But I can tell you it was quick, not expensive and very filling. I had a bowl with beef and noodles; for dessert I hit the matcha dessert stall for some matcha and vanilla ice cream. The whole place meal me feel like I was dining outside the state of Illinois. The service from everyone in the market was very friendly and they even had a sake/soju tasting by the front door (and the vendors allowed you try was much as you wanted.) I highly recommend this spot

Not only is there a food court of different Japanese restaurants to try, there is also a grocery store, bakery, bookstore, and stores that sell ice cream, traditional desserts, as well as crepes and boba tea! My family and I visit here often every year and we like to try the different foods and desserts and then check out the bookstore and grocery store afterwards. My favorite foods so far have been the beef udon soup with a soft boiled egg, shrimp and vegetable tempura, miso soup, and Japanese curry with rice, beef, and vegetables (carrots and potatoes). My son always gets the chicken and beef on a stick and my daughter usually gets a garlic pork dish with white rice but I forget what this dish is called. My husband also enjoys the beef udon soup like I do. I swear that whenever my food is finished, I am legit sad! The crepes are good, there is a variety of boba teas to try, and the ice creams are delicious! Lychee has been my favorite so far but I have yet to try the matcha, red bean, among others! You can get a small sample of different ice cream flavors too, which is nice! I sampled the red bean flavor so that will be my go-to next time! At the grocery store, I love buying Happy Turn snacks which are like a sweet and salty crunchy cracker (maybe it is made of rice?) that are individually wrapped and mochi from the fridge area. Finally, I usually like to buy mochi from the store right next to the bookstore. The mochi from this location is the best! I usually buy multiple flavors to take home and eat at a later time! You must try these! My kids love checking out the bookstore and they usually pick something out for me to buy for them - whether it is a book, keychain, etc. There are magazines, anime figurines, soft plushy toys, pens, and stationary, etc. It is interesting to browse through the things they have there! You cannot bring food or drinks inside but they do have a shelf at the entrance where you can place your drink there if you like. The first time visiting here, the majority of the customers were Asians and as the years have passed, there is now more of an influx of non-Asians who simply love the food and appreciate the culture, which I think is neat! The first time I visited here was with my college roommate who was from Japan and she recommended this place back in 2009 perhaps? I have been visiting ever since with my family. We travel more than an hour from Wisconsin to come here but it is 100% worth the drive! Also, the cashiers and workers there are quick, efficient, and friendly. I have even been able to practice a few of the Japanese phrases I have learned with a couple of the cashiers too (I asked if they spoke Japanese first)! Overall, Mitsuwa is my happy place! Great food, interesting finds, different culture, and everyone there looks excited to be there. This is as close to visiting Japan as I can get until I keep learning more Japanese and save up enough money to go visit Japan someday! This is my dream! In the meantime, we will keep visiting Mitsuwa!

And, dare I say, better version. Except for their avgolemeno soup. Such a weak travesty. Please fix this. It's just a watery mess. However, everything else is delicious. I ordered the Greek Chicken with their lemon-butter rice. They debone the chicken and serve atop a mountain of their rice. If also had their potatoes (which are good) but the rice is magical. My one son has major allergies so we spoke to the chef and he came back out to recommend the dishes he can have. It was great that he did so and gave us confidence that my son would be able to eat without worrying too much about the ingredients. I ordered the Shrimp Kalamakia with a side of the Greek Rice. My son with the allergies ordered the Pork Kalamakia with Greek Rice and no pita, my other son ordered the Traditional Pork Gyro with Greek Rice. The sides we ordered: Saganaki Fritters and Spanakopitakia. My son that ordered the Pork Kalamakia devoured it. He said it was tender and juicy and probably could have eaten 4 skewers. My Shrimp Kalamakia was nicely charred and seasoned, I squeezed some lemon and it provided a nice tang over the seasoning. The Lemon rice pilaf was soft and cook just right and was nicely balanced. I had one Saganaki Ball and it was delicious. My son had the Pork Gyros said it was really good and the Tzatziki sauce was creamy and rich with flavors. My in-laws bought the table desserts and I got the Baklava and my wife got Loukoumades (Greek Donuts with Nutella) and both did not disappoint. I really loved the citrus honey syrup in the Baklava. The Loukoumades had a crispy shell and nice a fluffy on the inside and the Nutella amount was perfect. This place is very good and well worth the price in my opinion. I loved the fact that they took the time to make sure my son with allergies was safe.
